This year only my wife and I, due to some medication she is very picky about "thinking" of food smells and she attacked it last night Had the truffle fries and the order is way more than two people should eat, yet we did!!!! She had the fried clams which is also a very generous portion and she loved it. I had the Teriyaki Steak Tips and they were also delicious. Service was very attentive & on point. Beautiful place short walk from ferry. Drinks were mediocre but not terrible. We both ordered the lemonade w cucumber vodka. I'd say it was definitely on the lighter side of vodka. We arrived about 230pm for the 3-4 buck a shuck special . The oysters were hit or miss. Yes 1$ , not complaining to that extent but half were kind of gross and looked like boogers. Unsure if they had been sitting out but I wouldn't be surprised if they're pre shucking 200 oysters waiting for the 3pm rush , now they've been sitting out on ice too long. Another Block Island staple....i live the casual ambiance and the view of the beach! It's also great they have a parking lot! Which not many restaurants on BI have! We were greeted and sat quickly! Super friendly and attentive waitress! We got calamari - thai chili - my kids say the best they have had....it was good! Pretzels and clam chowder! All good! The fish sandwich was fresh and crispy! The fries are basic but do the trick! The tuna sandwich was also good! The clam strip plate was huge and delicious!! Love the Cole slaw too! Put this on your Block Island 2026 list! First, the outside dining and view is lovely!! Beautifully landscaped and a clear view of the ocean. Every staff we met there were wonderful. We started with the clams casino which were prepared with peppers and bacon and perfect serving to split. My husband had heard their ribs were fantastic and they did not disappoint ; meaty, perfectly cooked and the seasoning was great served with a delicious cole slaw. Full disclosure I tried a bite of both...super yum! I opted for the lobster roll served cold with just the right portion of mayo, it was delicious on a buttered brioche roll. My sandwich was served with house-made pasta salad. You simply must try it! No mayo here but an amazing oil and paprika blend. I truly wish I had this recipe, so clearly we will be back next summer. There is plenty of parking if you have your vehicle or a rental but don't worry if you're walking because it's a reasonable walk from the ferry. Don't forget to visit them next summer!! read more

Convenient location right next to the beach and good food. During our driving tour of the island, we came across the beach in front of this place and since Beachhead was so close by and we were in the mood for seafood, we landed here. It was around 2 pm when we got there, so there were lots of people. But, within 5 minutes they were able to find us a table. They indoor seating, umbrellas over their tables on the patio to create shade which is nice but there are also a couple tables out in the sun if that's the vibe you're looking for. We ordered the garlic shrimp, the chicken focaccia sandwich, and baked Atlantic cod. The chicken focaccia was good but a couple observations. I was expecting the red peppers to be in long strips and also for there to be a good amount of it but it was sort of melted into the cheese and very little specks. Also, the description says it's on focaccia but it's actually ciabatta which makes a HUGE difference--I was expecting a moist, airy, oily-ish bread. The chicken was good (a little dry), but I did not see the peppercorn dressing. I ordered some ranch on the side, and they informed me they only carry old bay ranch. That ranch was the BEST ranch I have ever had. It was rich in flavor and thick in consistency. The sandwich comes with pasta salad on the side which looked like it would have a lot of flavor based on the color but it did not have any. The pasta was a bit too al dente. But, to get fries you have to pay an additional $2. The cod was very flavorful but it was also packed with butter. The vegetables in the description ended up being cole slaw which I did take some to add to my sandwich. The fries were okay. The prices of things were good considering its block island and it was near a beach. The staff is kind and efficient. read more

This is our favorite spot to go to dinner on Block Island. The atmosphere is casual, with an ocean breeze. Our waitress for the second summer in a row was Karina. She was on point!!Giving us the time we needed to go over the menu. Everything sounded delish so we did need a moment. She checked on us and didn't rush this very important decision. She was attentive and super sweet. My husband and I split the wedge salad, which was huge. For our entrees we had the oh so yummy fried clams strips with fries and Coleslaw, and the steak tips with mashies and asparagus. All were outstanding. The best part was the patio being dog friendly so our 12 year old, 7 pounder could enjoy the night out from her stroller. read more

We started with the truffle fries, but unfortunately, they lacked truffle oil and had an off taste--almost like the potatoes had freezer burn. The pretzel appetizer, however, was a highlight, especially paired with the mustard aioli. The veggie bowls felt a bit overcomplicated, with too many competing flavors that didn't quite come together. We also tried the crab cake, which was just okay--not quite as fresh or well-executed as we hoped for a coastal spot, and a bit on the oily side. Interesting afternoon today at the Beachhead restaurant today. Food was great- we ordered calamari, asparagus with feta cheese to start us off. We ordered shrimp tacos, grilled chicken sandwich, the beachhead burger with cheese and prime ribs, Waldorf salad with chicken and vegetable rice. Food tasted delicious. My grilled chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly. We were seated outdoors and it was a beautiful day for outdoors by beach. We were done with our meals when our dog happened to throw up unfortunately. When the server came over with the check, we informed her of the mishap. She informed that she will send someone over to clean up. Much to my surprise, the lady who supposedly came to clean up gave me a roll of paper towels and some cleaning product to clean up my dog's throw up. Mind it my dog is only 10lbs so the throw up was not ginormous. Regardless, I was under the impression that the staff is responsible for the cleaning up any spills or messes and they are responsible for cleanliness and hygiene of the restaurant for all patrons. Also, since our server said someone would clean up I wasn't expecting to be put to work. It is a delicate matter, I understand and I would have offered to help if the lady had taken charge but leaving me to it and exiting the scene is not what I expected. Isn't the staff trained to handle these situations for sanitary reasons? Have had a lot of meh food on Block in scenic locations. This was the first delicious meal we have had here (over 15 year span). And not overpriced! 6 for dinner on a cloudy cool day. Service was perfect, fast, attentive. Love that the food is not pretentious but everything was Super tasty and something for the whole family, nice gourmet touches like wasabi peas on the calamari, truffle cheese fries, make it not just an average burger joint. Seafood was all super fresh and delicious. Clams in wine were perfect - one of my favorite dishes, a seaside classic but actually not that well made at most places. Do not come here if you want time to do anything else during your evening. Just left after waiting for 3 hours for our food and only got comped a few drinks, and the owner never even came over to say sorry or anything to us. The food was mid. The fries were mushy and one meal came without the sauce it's supposed to be cooked in. Our entire evening was ruined, we lost hours and were only here for 2 more days. This place was absolutely horrible and I'm insanely disappointed with this service. All of the workers were standing around looking at us and talking, the entire night was just a bunch of BS. We had a delightful dinner with a beautiful view of the ocean from the outside dining area. I had the lobster boil, which included clams and mussels, and corn on the cob. All were delicious. My companion had the swordfish which was also delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. Friends and I came here after visiting Payne's Donuts (previous review) and wanted to grab some drinks while we waiting for a few more friends to arrive by the ferry. The Beachead has a very big indoor and outdoor area. We arrived around 2pm and they were able to seat us outside without any issue. They have a pretty big drink and food menu. I chose the mudslide and it was pretty good. It was thick and sweet. My friend ordered the clam strips and they tasted pretty fresh, but just a little greasy. The servers were very attentive and checked on us several times for water and more refreshments. Overall, I would come back to try more drinks and food. read more

Very popular tourist spot across the road from the bluffs, beach and ocean. I must say that I have pretty low food and service expectations from restaurants whose main customers are passing tourists (yes, I'll admit to food snobbery, even when I am a tourist myself!). However... the Beachead pleasantly surprised me. Food was above average and no complaints about service. There was a wait (lunch time, and just after ferry arrival), but less than 20 min. The food is a bit pricer than normal which is expected because it's on block island. I had the seafood nachos and the chicken wings along with the lobster mac and cheese. The pervious photos make the Mac and cheese look small. It is not, it's a good portion. It was a bit bland but salt and pepper fixed that. The wings come with 8 and the Thai chili is more on the sweeter side but was good and the size of the chicken wings were fair, non breaded which I loved. The nachos were gigantic and delicious. While on BI for the day, we stopped into the beachhead for some lunch. We picked it based on the reviews and the photos, but unfortunately our experience was a lot different than the reviews I read. We arrived on a weekend day for lunch, and immediately had an issue with accessibility. The handicap parking was blocked, and the handicap accessible ramp was also blocked, which was difficult for me having a hip injury. It ended up that we had to drive around to the front and hubby dropped me off. Despite being pretty hopping busy, we were seated promptly in their deck dining area. The menu was pretty standard beach/NE fare, but what caught my eye was the truffle cheese curd fries so we knew we had to start with those. They were good but not great, and very slimy. For our entrees, I ordered the lobster roll, and he ordered the fish and chips. My lobster roll was totally dry, rubbery, and tasted like it had been microwaved. I managed to flag down our waitress after trying 15 minutes, and instead of removing the item brought me melted butter to "see if it would make it better." It didn't. I opted for the beet salad instead of the lobster roll, and it was fresh but not what I wanted after getting my mouth set on some buttery lobster. Instead of ordering dessert, we decided to just pay and leave, and we ordered ice cream and other yummies elsewhere. Service was hit and miss, portions are huge but quality is low for the price. I'm not sure if this was the items left over from the summer rush, or they had the B-Team because so many of the workers were off for the long Labor Day weekend, but this was easily one of the top three worst lobster rolls I've ever had. Was so looking forward to a steamed Lobster Dinner. At $39 I would have expected a perfectly steamed Lobster. Big fail, so dry. Accompanied by a side of fries left under the heat lamp too long and overcooked mixed veggies. I would not suggest this entree. This restaurant has plenty of indoor seating and plenty of outdoor seating as well. We sat indoors and I was able to look out the front door and see the ocean! Just breathtaking! I had a shrimp tacos. One thing to mention is that the servings at this restaurant are very generous. I was surprised they were three tacos I only expected to. The tacos were great and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. It had a side of pasta it was a corkscrew pasta with a little bit of a kick, very different.
