Had no problem getting a seat in the greenhouse on a Friday night with no reservation. The greenhouse is super cool and would recommend sitting there if you can! Went with the Lockhart Sausage and potatoes which was quite good. Service was very efficient and my beer was pretty decent too. Would come back!
We went here for brunch and sat at the bar and the service was phenomenal. It was our first time and the waiter was extremely patient with us and all of our questions. Great tasting drinks! The food was good but did need a little bit of seasoning. Their seltzer was really good and better than most seltzer's I've tried before. We also had a delicious Bloody Mary (not pictured) as well as some of the IPA's on their menu. Highly recommend if you are in Cincinnati or visiting. Chill ambiance with various dress styles and vibes from jeans and a cute shirt to a more dressier look.
This restaurant is so aesthetic, we sat in the green house on a hot day. I wouldn't recommend that part. They have a massive AC in there, but it can't keep up with the trapped heat. The food was very good and each item had some unique traits about it.
It's super cute in here. The dining room is bright, with wood floors and plenty of greenery. They have a cool enclosed patio/bar area that also has an outdoor patio attached. I can only imagine how busy this place gets in the warmer months! To start, we shared the bread and butter board, roasted squash dip, and the potato gnocchi. We felt the dishes were just ok across the board - the star of the show was the bread and butter by far! Yum. For my entree I ordered the caesar salad with grilled salmon, 7/10. Our server let us know that their cocktails are batched, so modifications aren't possible. I think this is a nice spot to grab a drink and socialize! Still not sure about the food just yet.
I recently visited alcove with a few of my teammates for dinner. We were all pretty hungry, so we ordered multiple things to share and then also got individual entrées. We ordered the gnocchi, bread and butter board, buffalo cauliflower, and roasted squash dip. The squash dip and the bread and butter board were definitely the favorites. The butter was truly amazing and some of my favorite butter ever. I think I might go back just for that. The squash dip was unique and flavorful. I felt it would do a little better on a fall menu, but it was delicious and I did enjoy it. The buffalo cauliflower and gnocchi were just OK. For our entrées, we got fish and chips, but subbed the fries for the kale salad. The fish was good, and I really enjoyed the salad. However, the tartar sauce was actually kind of rough. It tasted nothing like any tartar sauce I've had before. I prefer a tartar sauce to be tangy, zesty, pickle-y, etc.. This one truly tasted like it was somehow flour based. I really feel that the tartar sauce greatly adds to a fish and chips meal, so I was pretty disappointed. I asked for an order of lemon aïoli, and use that instead. The coleslaw that came with the meal was pretty good! We ordered some fun drinks as well. I got a mock tail that was carrot based. It was decent, but I don't think I would order it again. One of my teammates had the bartender make her something like a margarita. Sadly, it was a little too sour and she wasn't able to finish it. The space itself is gorgeous! We had such a nice time sitting on the patio. Our server was also amazing. Super friendly and accommodating, and truly cared that we had a good experience.
My husband and I stopped in recently for lunch, following the Reds Opening Day parade. We started with the Bread Board as an appetizer, which was great. Nice and crusty on the outside, warm and fluffy on the inside. For our meals, I ordered the Smashburger with the Kale and Brussels Sprouts half salad. My husband ordered the Pan Roasted Chicken. Yum!! First, it's worth noting that the presentation was incredible. Almost too pretty to eat. Almost. The burger was flavorful and juicy, and the salad was absolutely amazing! Truly one of the best salads I've ever had. I'm eager to return for the salad alone. Cannot wait! The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing, the staff friendly, and the service was fast. Highly recommend you stop by for a bite the next time you're in Downtown Cincinnati. Bon Appétit!
Oh my goodness, this place was amazing and completely unexpected. So happy to see that. They have repurpose a very historic building in the Over the Rhine district of Cincinnati. So glad we went. Loved the live plants, our server Nathan was absolutely top-notch. I would absolutely request him again. We loved our meal and learning about this beautiful space. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend.
I went here on my fall break vacation with Matt and Michael. They have a great selection of drinks, really interesting food on the menu and the nicest staff in Ohio. I had the cider and would walk barefoot back to Ohio to have another. Also the host had the coolest Mohawk of any living human even. Don't waste you youth with a bad haircut.
My friends and I walked in Sunday afternoon and luckily they could seat the 5 of us inside. There were tables outside but in a covered patio so it was a bit chilly for March. The inside is bright, with beautiful plants everywhere. We ordered brunch and I had the loaded breakfast hash, thinking it would be a larger portion based on what my friend previously experienced. It was a smaller portion than expected and I should have added eggs. The shortrib was cooked well but it was pricey at $17 for a not filling meal.
This was my first time here and I am definitely going to give them repeat business. Friendly, smiling faces welcomed me in and the server was very helpful with suggestions and answering menu questions. I was with a group of individuals and the server didn't miss a beat. The place is spacious and great for groups of all sizes. The lighting and decor were both perfect. The noise level was moderate. And the food is both pleasing to the eye as well as the taste buds!!! The fried chicken sandwich was SO delicious. Please, if you're on the fence about keeping or removing the cucumbers, I beg you to give it a try WITH them. Everything that comes on the sandwich is what makes it so perfect. I also suggest extra sauce on the side - it's yummy!
This restaurant is beautiful. The plant walls and the hanging ferns are fantastic. We made a reservation for 2:00 on a Sunday for a meal before a matinee. I was surprised to find we were there for brunch; it was a pleasant surprise. Mark had Loaded Potato Hash - short rib, pickled red onion, cheddar cheese, roasted red pepper relish, sour cream. He didn't comment on the flavor details, but he did say it was delicious. I ordered Avocado Toast - pickled red onion, roasted red pepper relish with a side of goetta. The avocado toast was fantastic. In my experience it's odd to find actual sliced avocado on avocado toast. Seems it's usually smashed up, sometimes with different ingredients added in, but not at Alcove. The dish was clean and delicious. The onions and roasted red pepper relish provided a perfect foil for the creamy avocado. The toast was slightly buttered. I did have to eat it with a knife and fork, which was okay by me. I enjoyed this dish. The toast came with hash browns, which were little balls of crispy on the outside/potato flaky on the inside perfection. My goetta came late to the table. In fact, I had to ask if it was ready, knowing all along it had to be ready, just forgotten. I am glad I didn't tell our server to just forget it because it was delightful. I don't know who made it, but it was not the major brand found at the grocery. The best thing - it wasn't greasy/oily. It was purely delicious. I'd order it again in a heartbeat. There's a parking garage very close by, making eating at Alcove easy peasy. We'd definitely come back.
We only had drinks but the bartender was super nice. We all seemed to enjoy our drinks and hung out for over an hour. Definitely would return again in the future. I liked having a lot of options for the seasonal menu! I love the inside of the place. It has super cute lighting and fake plants put up on the walls.
Service was top notch! From the host, to the servers, to the manager - we received excellent service. We made a reservation for 7pm and our table was ready when we arrived. It was a beautiful evening but we decided to sit inside for our meal. The outdoor seating and patio area is very cute though! The food was great! We started with the hummus plate... Hands-down, the best hummus ever! Then we ordered a mocktail... I ordered the lavender blueberry mocktail, which was very good but a little too sweet for me so I added some water to it. My partner ordered the honey ginger refresher which was really good. We ordered the salmon meal and the fried chicken sandwich meal. Everything was great! Will be returning very soon!

Alcove has been on my list of places I wanted to try for a long time so I was excited to see it was a stop on our brunch tour with Riverside Food Tours. When we arrived, our table was all set in the bright and sunny greenhouse. We got the stuffed french toast, topped with fresh berries and it was delicious! Our group also opted for mimosa flights and espresso flights and everyone raved about them! My hubby and I shared the espresso flight of 3 flavors: regular, pumpkin spice, and s'mores. Alcove was such a vibe, and I loved the aesthetic. I really appreciate all the live plants, and the bar area is very cool being a greenhouse. We came in to celebrate a birthday, and had made reservations online for our larger group. They sat us in a private room which was perfect! I ordered the quiche which was served with potatoes and a salad. The quiche was good but came out a bit cold. Next the potatoes, these were absolutely delicious and I have never tasted potatoes seasoned and prepared like this, so good! The salad was also very good, and I liked the dressing. The service was great, our waitress was attentive and checked in to refill our coffees and water. We visited Alcove for Valentine's Day which was a really great experience. We didn't have to book a reservation extremely ahead of time and the specialty cocktails were amazing! We got the hummus spread as an appetizer which was great for 2, but not enough for 4 people. The service was on top of our water and drinks and was extremely helpful in recommendations. The tables were spaced apart enough to not be on top of one another. They have an outside portion which would be nice in the spring and summer. I ended up getting the tofu sandwich which was amazing! Had a great experience last night with our party of 11. We were seated in the semi private booth in the back which was spacious and intimate- just perfect for us. We started with the bread board, hummus, crispy potatoes, and cauliflower. All were worth ordering. I would say the green goddess dressing that came with the cauliflower and the creaminess of the butter on the bread board really stood out. You couldn't go wrong with any of these choices. For my main, I shared the short rib pot pie and the pork shank with a colleague. The pot pie was more style than substance. It looked exciting with puff pastry piled high, but it was dry and the meat was overcooked. The pork shank on the other hand- oh my days! Tender, fall-off-the-bone meat, creamy beans, and and savory greens. Take notes, people, this is how beans should be cooked! I was told this dish isn't ordered as frequently as some others, but I'm not sure how- it's clearly the star of the menu! Awesome option for a brunch or lunch spot if you are downtown Cincinnati! Conveniently located right in the middle of OTR. I've been here a couple times, but I'm still impressed every single time I walk in. The plants in the space are just beautiful and it always smells amazing. We started off with coffee and a hummus plate. The veggies were super fresh and crunchy. We love that they toasted the pita. For our meals, we ordered the potato hash and their seasonal quiche. I finally made it Alcove for lunch. The ambiance is simply beautiful and has a cute room in the back for a small private party as well as a "green room" bar that is enclosed during the winter which adds a nice vibe. Regarding food, I tried the fried chicken sandwich and my coworker tried the cod which she really enjoyed. The chicken sandwich was decent however, something was missing. I tried a piece of the chicken that didn't have sauce on it and it didn't taste like it was seasoned so maybe that was the miss. The fries and the sauce were good and tasted like a mayo/ ketchup concoction which I love. This was a great pick for a quick lunch and the staff were wonderful. My wife and I were walking around downtown, looking for a nice spot for dinner. We enjoy MadTree, so when we saw this was by the same people, we decided to stop in. We didn't have a reservation, but the host said if we waited about ten minutes they could give us a spot on the patio. It was a bit warm out, but we agreed. After about ten minutes he said they actually had a cancellation inside, so we were able to snag an air conditioned spot. The mains looked really tasty--the salmon and lamb leg caught my eye--but were a little pricier than we were looking to spend at the time. I opted for the Fried Chicken Sandwich with the Bistro Fries, and my wife chose the Peach & Quark Salad, adding tofu. Our waitress was very attentive, refilled waters routinely, and our food was brought out without a long wait. The Fried Chicken Sandwich had a homemade quality, and I mean that in the best way possible. Crispy breading with juicy chicken, sweet and spicy honey chili crisp glaze, and a nice sourness from the marinated cucumbers. The sandwich came with hot, well-seasoned fries and a delicious aioli to dip them in. My wife was already a huge fan of quark--a sheep's cheese--and the spiced quark on her salad was phenomenal. Sweet peaches, well-seasoned tofu, and fresh greens. The jalapeno vinaigrette was tasty as well, though was a bit sparse on the salad. I wouldn't say I'm picky, but I do have a high bar for food, and I told my wife that I wouldn't change a thing about this meal; it was absolutely delicious. $17 each for a sandwich + fries and a salad would generally be a knock against the restaurant, but I was so satisfied with the food that it didn't bother me. We had a wonderful time at "Alcove" last night. The ambience is very modern, chique and welcoming. For our appetizer we ordered the charcuterie board and the cheeses were AMAZING! My husband is not a fan of charcuterie but said that this was the first board he ever truly enjoyed. For our main dishes we ordered the lamb leg and the fried chicken sandwich respectively. Both were absolutely scrumptious. The star however were the crispy potatoes! I highly recommend adding those to your order! It was delicious. The service was great as well.
