Came here around 11:30am on a Wednesday. Place is half full. I am not a coffee expert so I will comment on the food and service I agree with one of the reviews, the service here is NON existence. No one greeted me as I walked in, the guy behind the counter just looked at me. Wasn't sure if I should seat myself or whatever... good thing I read the menu before coming because I didn't know the menu was on the wall at the side lol. Since noone came to me, I then walked to the counter and asked a few questions about the menu before ordering. I was asked to pay now or later,.. wait what?? (Cash or debit) the guy explained tips is optional, that's when I made a comment about noone acknowledged me and I gotta walk up to order/pay. He said he will bring me my food, guess that's a hint I should tip. Lol During my 30mins here, I noticed someone was supposed to take my order. The service I received was no different than eating at the food court. I had to get water myself as well. Seems everyone usually order the Benny's, waffles or omelettes. Being the usual me wanting to try something different, plus got sucked in by the pasta pic, I ordered the carbonara pasta. The portion is rather small for its $16. The pasta is topped with what I thought a pouched egg. It is actually an undercooked egg. By that I mean the egg white is clear... CLEAR! Yes, the egg was cold. My pasta went from steamy hot to room temperature warm after I mixed it. I have my egg raw with sauce when I have hotpot but definitely not that raw with my pasta. This place is bomb! I came here as a tourist and it was one of those spots that the locals know to go to bc it's so good. The restaurant is small so definitely put your name on the list to avoid a wait. And I can promise you, whether you wait 5 mins or 50 mins, the food is worth it! I had the shrimp Benny. I came by for brunch again the same week with a friend and we both enjoyed our eggs benedicts. We both shared the smoked salmon and peameal bacon eggs benny. Portions were big (I couldn't even finish my potatoes!) and I was glad there was salad on the side too. I liked how the peameal bacon had avocado which worked well together. It was busy when we first got there but people came and went and service was quick. I can't imagine how busy this place gets on the weekend if we came on a weekday. Overall, it's nice to have an independent coffee shop/cafe/brunch place around this area since there isn't much nearby. Again, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat or get coffee here, but if I'm ever around the area would definitely go here to chill and relax (maybe with a good book!). read more

I came here with a friend mid-day around 2pm and it was packed with a few bar tables. It is a little crowded when sitting so during the winter you would have to hang up your jacket on their coat racks. Once you seat yourself the waiter will come by to take your order. But when you pay, you walk up to the counter to pay. I ordered a latte and their matcha white chocolate cookie. My friend ordered the vegetable eggs benny with a cappuccino. The items were both delicious. The cookie wasn't too sweet so it balanced with my latte. The friend also enjoyed the vegetable eggs benny because there were a variety of vegetables (beets, carrots, arugula, onions and a side of potatoes) This place is small so expect a wait. The parking lot is hard to get in an out because of the traffic on hwy 7. Overall, this is a cute little brunch place with good coffees and snacks. read more

FYI They comes with chicken drumsticks so some may not like it. I like dark meat so Iiked it. Pork belly omelette served with salad. Pork belly pieces were tasty; went well with salad. Bluberry pancakes were moist, fluffy but pricy $12 for just pancakes. Don't think it was worth the pricy tag IMO We went on a weekday so didn't have any problem with finding a table. I am so glad a new brunch place open in Markham. Service: very friendly and you can see they are passionate in customer and in their work. Food: we only sample the smoked salmon eggs Benedict. It is on point. Drinks: they use Pilot Coffee Roasters Blend. I quite enjoy the Cortado. Since they are still soft opening, they are adjusting the taste. Hope they can work on the crema. Great brunch spot! Between the 2 of us, we ordered the carbonara and the shrimp avocado omelette. We got some cute latté art on the side too :) I'm not a huge fan of salty foods (then again, who really is), and carbonaras can be a tough one to perfect. Alchemy did a great job making a not-too-creamy and not-too-salty pasta, that tasted light and was seasoned well. The dish was not too big in terms of portion-size and the yolk did not overpower the rest of the flavour. Overall a really yummy dish! The omelette came out on a small skillet (refer to photo) with a side of mixed greens in a balsamic vinaigrette. The eggs were so fluffy and went perfectly with their seasoned shrimp, thinly sliced carrots, avocado and cheese. Again, this omelette was very light and didn't make me feel bloated or too full. I feel like the portions are really well done here at Alchemy, and the service was great too. Their latté was a smooth blend, and felt like it was made with love (if that even makes sense hahah). Location/Service: Small parking lot as it is located within a small plaza. It's on Hwy #7, between Birchmount/Kennedy (close to the railway tracks). Big header sign, so you can't really miss it. Inside has a very nice ambient feeling - a mix of wooden and modern furniture. Free-wifi (and strong) is available, along with plugs by the wall if you need to bring a laptop. The owners were very friendly and knowledgeable on what kind of food/drinks they offer. Pricing is reasonable as this is a more of a local coffee shop, it makes it a little special/different. I went on a Friday for brunch, so there were less people. It is often more busy during weekends - and since it's newly opened, service can range; but I can see they are doing their best. Food: Cappuccino - smooth and not too heavy. It's good for my tasting - even to the bottom, where it's usually a little more bitter. The owners try doing some latte art, pretty cute - but I know they're not great experts on it. Salmon Eggs Benedict - portion size is perfect for quick lunch/brunch. I personally like Benedict and this one doesn't fail. Runny eggs and fresh salmon. The salad on the side is with a vinaigrette dressing. Roasted potato wedges were a little salty for me - I think they added a little too much salt. Overall, I really enjoy this place and would love to come again to try their other drinks/food. Worst customer service ever along with quality of food. I called first thing on Saturday morning for a takeout order of 6 dishes: 2 Buttermilk Pancakes, Duck Benny, Shrimp Benny, Duck + Waffles, and Chicken + Waffles. I notified the restaurant that I would be there in 50mins to pick it up as I was coming from Mississauga to Markham. When I arrived 50mins later, they said my order wasn't ready and I had to wait a few more mins. 20mins later, my order still wasn't ready. Then the staff informed me that the chef forgot one of my items and had to make it. They had the time to make 2 Ubereats orders and 3 tables between me ordering and waiting for my food. Instead of offering a solution, they said they could refund me for one of my items and I could leave with my current items. That wasn't a solution as I was meeting with my family and couldn't leave out a person's order. Instead of offering me something complimentary for waiting up to 30mins after ordering 50mins prior. The staff just looked at me with this confused look and complacency. Let's talk about the food which was equally as disappointing. Shrimp Benny...if you like a mouth full of black and white pepper, order this dish. That's all you can taste when eating the shrimp patty. Also the hollandaise is completely flavourless. I love hollandaise and this was a true disappointment. The potatoes were hard and not cooked thoroughly and the salad was just drenched in oil and there was absolutely no dressing. For the Duck Benny, it was packed with alfalfa sprouts which overpowered the duck. The same feelings were shared with the salad, potatoes, and hollandaise. For the Buttermilk Pancakes, the berry compote was sour and the condensed milk syrup was really water. It was like they diluted the condense milk with lots of water and called it a syrup. Truly disappointing. The Duck + Waffles and Chicken + Waffles were okay. Nothing special. If you are in Markham and looking for a good place to dine-in or take-out for brunch, DON'T COME HERE. Only reason for 4 stars is because of the lack of parking & confusing service. They recently switched to a "full service" resto- you walk in, get seated and they take your order & bring you the bill/machine. But you can tell both customers and employees are still transitioning because everyone is trying to figure it out still. Regardless, employees are patient & nice. I think this place is worth a bit of a wait & stress over parking. I know there is VERY limited parking, as many spots are reserved for the other tenants in the lot but You can actually park in the reserved spots for the Hardwood Store parking as advised by the employees. I had the eggs Benny & the buttermilk pancakes of course. The pancakes were delicious. With their blueberry/blackberry topping & condensed milk, it's a great twist to traditional cakes. I don't have the biggest sweet tooth but these weren't overly sweet , I did find myself taking off some of the blue berry topping however. I think everything is proportioned perfectly with the perfect amount of condensed milk, pancakes, and topping. Nice crunch from the cereal too. It looks like a smaller serving but trust me it's filling! The pancakes are also buttery & fluffy and don't get soggy. The eggs Benny is was excellent as well. I've had some bad eggs Benny in the past but they did a great job. My friend brought me here for Saturday brunch. You need to pay for your order first before eating, pretty much like how you order in the fast-food restaurant. I had peameal bacon eggs benny. The eggs were perfectly poached, with two chunky pieces of bacons, spinach and avocado underneath, healthy and delicious. My friend had smoked salmon eggs benny, and she loved it too. Needless to say, I loved it except the smoke salmon wasn't the freshest. The Mr. ordered the fried chicken and waffle, he said the chicken was very tasty and crispy. Came here on Saturday just before noon and got lucky with only a 5 minute wait. Tires the Eggs Benny Peameal Bacon which was very good, potatoes were cooked just right. Ordered the Classic breakfast as well and was made very well and can't go wrong if your a traditional breakfast kind of person. Order Americanos and was also made very well. The restaurant was very busy and a line started forming after we sat down so come early if you can. Overall a great experience and glad to see a brunch style place up in Markham. read more

We came here on a Saturday at around 1PM and the restaurant was full. I wouldn't really say it was busy because the restaurant is very very small, so it's not capable of holding many customers to begin with. We waited for about 10 minutes and some of the window seats/bar type seats opened up so we decided to just grab those ones. I ordered the Shrimp Benny ($16) - a deep fried shrimp patty topped with an eggs Benedict and hollandaise sauce, all placed a nice toasted bagel. It also came with a side of roasted potatoes and salad. The eggs benny was cooked perfectly, it was very satisfying cutting it open open and watching the yolk ooze out onto the shrimp patty and bagel. I felt like the shrimp patty could've used more seasoning but it was still tasty. The hollandaise sauce didn't have much flavour to be honest. The roasted potatoes were a bit too hard in my opinion. But I think it could just be the type of potatoes they used. Overall it was a good meal, I just felt like it could've been better if the flavours were a bit stronger such as the shrimp patty and hollandaise sauce. I had a pretty good experience coming here except for getting a table! This place is pretty popular and the tables are a first come first serve basis, so you have to be pretty patient. I ordered the Eggs benny smoked salmon ($14) which came with a side of potatoes and salad. I also ordered the matcha tea latte cold ($4.75). I thought the food was good but not amazing. I think Alchemy Coffee has become one of my goto spots for eggs benny! I tried their classic peameal bacon one as well as their smoked salmon one, and the flavours were well balanced and enjoyable. Every time I've ordered their eggs benny, their eggs have been perfectly poached, giving me the oozing egg that an eggs benedict should have! Their side potatoes are also delicious, and their spring mix salad has a nice sesame dressing that I enjoy. Their macchiato has strong espresso flavours while their flat white is light, smooth and creamy. Latte art is just a bonus ;) I was a bit disappointed with their pancakes, though. When I had it, the pancakes were dense, but the pot de creme was delish. The open face omelette with pork belly was a bit greasy, but the flavours were there nonetheless. Another great Markham brunch spot - make sure to come early on weekends as there's always a line! The seating arrangement is odd, because you have to wait for a seat to become available to self-seat yourself and then self order/serve. We ordered one sausage Benny and one salmon salad. The food took quite some time to come out. I thought the food would come out together but the salmon salad still came out first after some wait. The food itself was pretty good. Smoked salmon is average, pretty much just putting the food together. The quinoa in the salad is the one thing I don't like, so hard seems raw and very little of it. As for the sausage Benny it's actually quite good. The sausage is not like a processed mcd sausage. It's a thick and juicy piece of sausage with some spice. The hollandaise sauce is bit different, creamier and less tangy, still good. The Benny's also have some mushroom and tomato. Overall a very nice dish. Price wise I think it's pretty good too. Affordable brunch. Services was pretty good too. Overall, we enjoyed our visit. And we probably will visit again but only when there's no long lineup. (The staff asked "have u been here before?" This is a delayed review, although I dont know if this is even a needed review when just about every foodie royalty has given this place every thumb they've got up. Location :Place is tiny in a small plaza, having the hubby park = to valet so I dont have anything to say. The actual dining is a bit crampy. Dont even get me started on my journey when I had my heavy coat on and had to walk around the diners to hang it on the opposite side of our table. The Food : I like very very much , they serve an assortment of breakfast food that's not just your average pancakes or toast , bacon or ham. They actually serve food where they thought of your palates and believe it or not your SiGHt rather than just your belly. Case example : fluffly dollar pancakes piled on top of each other drizzled with a Mixed Berry compote with sweet buttermilk on the side . Now comes the troubled question every diet conscious ,calorie counting person contemplate: To Put or Not To Put (thebuttermilk). Now my very wise answer : Hell YES! If you do decide answering No to the question , may I suggest you take the route I took (my son ordered the pancakes I just salivated on his side and of course took a bite or 2 and 3) . I ordered the Smoked Salmon, Portobello Mushroom & Kale Eggs Benedict. The sight already starts filling you prior to devouring it. And yes the eating part is just as fulfilling as the seeing part . We went straight in and was confused with the sitting, do I just sit down or do i wait at the door? Lol then i notice the sign that says just seat yourself and purchase at the front. Got that figured lol So i was waiting for a table and reading the menu figuring out what to get, and this girl overheard me telling my frd i want pancakes and waffles. She was like "No, dont get the pancakes, theyre reli stiff. The waffles have no flavour to it. The chicken is good tho" LOL uhmmm. I kinda came for these but for her to mention it to me like that, i gave up on the thought to be adventurous as I was starving at that point lol Ended up getting the pork belly omelette, smoke salmon benny, and a matcha affogato. Overall every thing tasted really good but nothing to die for. The braised pork belly tasted way better than i expected!! The muffin for the benny was a bit dry and i wish it was toasted/warmed. Definitely one of the best places for breakfast/brunch places in Markham. It is a small but cute place which has nice ambiance and decor. I would recommend going either on a weekday or very early in weekends as this place fills up quickly! There aren't many seats so it is not ideal for large parties . Parking is also another issue where most of the plaza has designated parking spots for each business however it doesnt seem Alchemy has their own spots except to the very side od the palza which is very limited. It is somewhat of a self serve place where you order at the front and yoh find your seat and the food is brought to your table. I ordered the matcha latte and the eggs Benny with peameal bacon, spinach and avocado spread. ($14) It was very flavorful, the egg was nice and runny and the potatoes were very fresh and we'll seasoned. The matcha latte had a beautiful design and had an even better taste with a smooth matcha flavor. Highly recommend! read more

We came here on Sunday at around 12pm. Understandably , they were busy but they were still able to sit us quickly and the food was yummy. However, they seemed short-staffed for the amount of demand they have at this peak time. We had to wave down an overwhelmed-looking staff to place our order (after waiting for 10 minutes), our drinks arrived after our food, and our food did not come out together (about 5 minute wait in between each person's plates). Nobody could check up on us because they were busy wiping tables/dealing with the lines/dealing with the bills/serving the food/grabbing take out containers/etc. I am giving Alchemy 4 stars because of the food quality. The food flavours were on point and delicious. The hot chocolate was great and I hope to come here on a weekday for a hot drink. So sad but COVID experience of take out food from Alchemy was not good. Pre COVID their food was delish consistently. But got two bennys to go during COVID and it was not good at all. Eggs were watery, no hollandaise or it was so watery it disappeared. The potatoes meat was over peppered, salad had no taste, potato's were over peppered and the weird orange sauce that came with it was... weird. Seriously I expected way more. I was literally just here over the weekend and when I came back for breakfast five days later, the prices on the menu went up! I also noticed that they include pasta in their menu now too. I enjoyed my first visit very much (hence I came back in less than a week) and the food is still delicious. However, I'm giving Alchemy Coffee a lower rating for this visit because of the fresh brewed chai tea that I ordered. I expected the tea to be high quality since they use Pilot Coffee. However, my tea came without a tea bag and tasted awful. Chai tea is typically a brewed black tea with spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and cloves. I love chai because of its spiciness but the brewed tea that I had from Alchemy Coffee was anything but spicy. In fact, it tasted like a super watered down version of chai that even I had to remind myself what I ordered because the flavour had no resemblance of a chai tea. Here's the thing. I love the food and coffee at Alchemy but the location and seating isn't the most ideal. At Alchemy, you go up to the counter and make your order then you find a seat in the confined area and the barista brings it over to you once it's ready. Service is always great here but with the limited seating, sometimes it is hard to find a place to sit or even stand around so you're just hovering over other diners hoping they'll leave soon. I'd advise coming really early or on a weekday. In terms of brunch, it is one of the best you can get in Markham. You can't go wrong with the eggs benedict here. I usually get the smoked salmon. The eggs are always cooked right and the house fries are nice and crispy. I'd also recommend the pork belly omelette. read more

We went on a Monday afternoon and it was busy, but we were able to get a seat at the bar without waiting. The space is small, but cozy. Parking looks like it could be a problem during busier times. The service was friendly, but disorganized. They didn't really check in with us except to take our order and drop off our food. My partner finished his pancakes before my salad/drink even arrived. We ordered the buttermilk pancakes and salmon salad. The pancakes weren't fully cooked, but the salad was quite good and a decent size for the price. Another great brunch place to add to the books! Place is somewhat small with wall tables along 3 sides of the restaurant and tables in the centre. The menu is on the wall on the left when you enter as well. It can definitely get pretty busy it looks like so make sure you go juuust a bit earlier than you would normally so you can secure a table and parking spot. Not a lot of parking spaces either as some spots are reserved for other shops in the plaza... I ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict w/ portobello mushrooms and kale since I like benedicts a lot and they turned out pretty tasty and runny enough. My friend got the Chicken and Waffles and the chicken was juicy while the waffles were warm and fluffy. Peeeeerrrrrf! You can also grab yourself some water on the right end of where they are cooking. Lastly service was quick, polite and friendly. All that is needed for a breakfast/brunch place! Honestly, if you haven't already visited this place and want a change of pace from your typical Cora's or Eggsmart, this is definitely a good option to consider! *PRE COVID* If you're looking for a solid aesthetically pleasing brunch spot then look no further than alchemy coffee. I've been here several times and it has yet to fail in delivering a delicious brunch meal. I usually get the steak and eggs and eggs benny. Both are solid options and pair well with their matcha latte and cappuccinos. Environment is super dope. My first visit but will not be last!!! I had the best fried chicken I ever had! Juicy and crispy! The dipping sauce for the waffle is good but it's a bit too sweet for chicken and salad! Went here for a take-out brunch during Covid. The place was jam packed but our orders didn't take as a long as anticipated. Ended up eating in our car and overall, the food was good...nothing really exceptional however, especially for the premium pricing. I'd probably not return again since there are son many other interesting places to eat in the area. read more
