Well I'm not a big fan of seafood (don't judge) but it seems to be when I go out to eat with someone they love it. (And no it's not the whole sex thang).. lol.. ANYWAYS!!! .... I pulled out the handy dandy yelp app. and checked for seafood and this place popped up. My friend and I were surprised this place was still open .. with 30 minutes left before closing we hurry in thinking their gonna rush us out right quick but NO that was not the case at all.. I had such high hopes for this location the pictures and reviews looked like everything was going to be so delicious unfortunately we were all kind of let down had two different types of ceviche one was agua chiles which unfortunately was made with a very bitter limes which overpowered any sauce that we try to put on it to fix the flavor and the campechana I was very excited for I was told it was a very spicy dish only to find out it tasted just like Clamato picante juice my son had a jaiva tostada that he said was just OK the service was friendly very nice ladies this spot may be more for drinks and appetizers and hanging out with friends then going for the seafood alone their shrimp empanadas were the only hit at our table the crust was cooked nice and golden not too skimpy on the cheese or shrimp very good flavor with or without a sauce Food definitely comes with good proportions i'm hoping I can give another star with one more visit read more

Came in today to try this spot. Its nice from the inside. Customer service was 5/10. And the food was salty we got the chilaquiles. They took a while with the hot sauce I ask by the time the waitress brought the hot sauce I was done with my food. So, 1/ mango shrimp - unbelievable texture of the "clean" soft shrimp and tender mango was absolutely my favorite!! It's a MUST try!!! 2/ aguaciles - again the the shrimp excellent texture, purple onions, lemon juice, and it's green Chile sauce was something I've never tasted or have experience. Amazing!! 3/ avocado, shrimp, green Chile- there was just enough avocado and shrimp in each and every bite. Not like other places you need more avocado!!! New to the city, after a long day of moving I was in need of a beer! The place only has street parking from what I could tell. I Arrived at 5:40 pm on a Friday, and the place was empty only two other tables. The michelada was ok, hit the spot but I've had better. I recommend a better Clamato. The salsa and chips were good, the salsa had a nice lil kick to it. Loud Banda music playing like any other topical Mariscos spot. The Food: I ordered a tostada de jaiva, as an appetizer. OMG the flavor was amazing. Only thing I would change is the lack of actual jaiva they need more and less tomatoes. But omg it was soooooooooo good. I also ordered the chicken enchiladas with rice and beans and that as well was amazing. The food has authentic flavor, will definitely be coming here more often but next time I'll opt for just a beer and not a michelada. read more

She was happy to review the menu, as there were many interesting choices. I ended up selecting the wonderfully cooked to order liver entree from the breakfast group. It arrived medium, as requested well seasoned with medium hot peppers and onions. I rarely order this dish, as it is rare for chefs to get it right. It was beautifully presented with hand made corn tortillas, fresh salsa and lime. The portion was generous and before I knew it I had eaten every bite. I am excited to take my wife here this week. My boyfriend recently pre ordered us some food over the phone for pickup. They got our order wrong. We ordered three orders of tostadas de pulpo and they gave us camaron and pulpo instead. What if one of us was allergic to shrimp? I don't know if it was a miscommunication or if they just decided to give us shrimp as well because they were running low on pulpo. I don't know. Your guess is mine. My man is bilingual and spoke to them in Spanish so I'm unsure of what happened. Also, they barely filled up the containers. There was way more vegetables than anything and barely any shrimp and octopus. The only thing that we were truly satisfied with was the oysters that we received. Those were delicious. I needed to wash my gi and headed over to the laundromat next door to this spot. Again, I had thirty minutes to eat and get out. I was on a serious time crunch. It was noon already, and I was craving some serious authentic Mexican breakfast. I had huevos rancheros or huevos con chorizo on my mind. Walked in and picked up the menu. Full of fear, I asked," You still serving breakfast?' The girl replied,"Of course." I was in luck. I ordered the Chorizo con huevos. They come with fresh hand made tortillas. Emphasis on "fresh" and "handmade". While I was waiting, the girl brings me a complimentary noodle soup with onions. The soup was served in a traditional glazed ceramic Mexican bowl. The broth was just incredible. I killed it quick. My Chorizo con huevos were served with a cheesecake slice sized piece of queso fresco and just made frijoles. The best breakfast I've had in a very long time. I'm loyal to this place after this afternoon. If you're in the North Long Beach, Lakewood, Downey area. I have lots of love for this restaurant. Originally introduced to me by one of my friends TaTa (its a nickname)...I've come to Las Plebes here and there over the past few years and the food has been great as well as the service. If you're not in the mood to eat, you can always order up some beers and listen to music. Musicos visit the restaurant often so if you're into live music, you can get that but do know that the musicos charge their own fee per song they play and the transaction would be between you and them, not the restaurant. Besides the food, what I really enjoy about this restaurant is their flexibility to whip up dishes that aren't on the menu. Asking for a certain meat to be added into a quesadilla is minor but recently I randomly asked if they could make a few octopus and scallop tacos. The option to use these types of meats for a taco aren't available nor does the menu suggest you have that option but they were more than willing to cook it when requested. That's awesome in my opinion and many places would be reluctant to do so. I always have a good time when visiting and always leave satisfied from the food, drinks and service.
