Wow, I can't believe this place is getting such negative reviews. I come here maybe 5-6 times a year, usually to run errands for my boss. This place is convenient, just down the street from where I work and the woman behind the counter (I'm embarassed I don't know her name, but she's the one who's normally there) is always so pleasant and helpful!! Before coming here, I had no idea how to ship and return boxes. Yeah.. if I ordered something online and hated it, I would keep it instead of driving down to the mailbox store to ship it back to the shop. It's just too confusing for me. Unfortunately, my boss is not the same way, so I always just walk down to Mail Boxes Plus and they help me out. THey make everything so EASY! The woman behind the counter is always so helpful and super nice, even though I may ask stupid questions. And, they always email over the tracking number so I dont stand around, worrying that my package might get loss. read more

Don't go here if you need a receipt. This is the third time I have shipped this computer. First time I sent it from Fed Ex and got a receipt. Second time I sent it from Office Max and got a receipt. My family is going on a medical mission to Jamaica and needed numerous services from Arman. We sought his assistance on 1/09/17 with the expectation that we were going to be there a long time. We needed approximately ten notarized signatures, a passport photo, copies of all documents, and international shipping of all documents to Jamaica before the end of the business week. In total, we were there about an hour and while he was assisting us with our needs, other customers appeared to solicit his services. Not only did he perform all of the tasks we required in a correct and timely fashion, but, also demonstrated excellent customer service to all other patrons. His service is the reason we drive from Oakland to Alameda even though there are numerous other notaries that are closer to our residence. As an addendum to this review, I needed a birth certificate form notarized last minute (as of today's date). Arman was willing to assist even though I was running late. He was willing to stay after business hours to assist me. If this is not outstanding customer service, then I do not know what is. read more

Place is good if you need mailing supplies but the lady at the desk was horrible. Wasn't very helpful and didn't look happy to be working.

The individual at the counter did not mail my letter the day it was dropped off hence, I did not get paid on time, etc. One would expect mail and packages to go out the day they are placed in the care of these people but evidently this is not the case. read more

I've had a mailbox here for almost 4 years. That's mostly the main service I utilize, but they have a variety of offerings, including notary, accepting large items for a nominal fee, basic office supplies, and all types of shipping. As other reviewers have said, they're fast and friendly here. I usually only visit after hours to just pick up mail, and have only rarely had reason to stop in during open hours. But right from the beginning, they have always recognized me when I come in, and acted like I stop by to say hello every day. I feel like I'm with family there. And yet, they do not get overly personal as some small shops do. Honestly, it reminds me of what a small neighborhood post office is like in the old movies. Except that it's in 3D and in color. Prices are also very reasonable. Also, I've gotten receipts without any problems when needed. I think someone may be confused. read more

Was in and out of here under ten minutes to some paperwork notarized! A big plus is that the notary public is always present, unlike other locations where you have to call in advance and have to receive the bad news of waiting until someone shows up. I've been calling this one place apparently that has four stars + for notary services, however for some reason after calling the place up five times on separate occasions, not once had they picked up. I needed to get some documents out in a hurry requiring a notary, money order, and mailing. I'd planned to come here to get the document notarized and then hit the bank & post office respectively - only to realize that I could do it all in one place! In less than 20 minutes, I was out the door with everything complete! The nice lady even directed me to the nearest ATM when I didn't have cash on hand for the money order. Very rude customer service. The clerk was not interested in my business as if I had interrupted her busy agenda. Finally after me telling her by pointing to the sign, they do accept USPS, she proceed to quote me $20.00 to ship a 5 x 4 mailer and told me that there are fees charged by her business. This place is a huge rip off. Do not patronize this shop. They charged me $33 for a cardboard box and some styrofoam popcorn to ship an item, but didn't tell me the cost until after they had packed it up. When I said I wanted my item back they said it would still cost $33 because they would need to open the box and it couldn't be used again. $33 for a card board box and packing that would cost $10 anywhere else. WOW!!! I had to get insurance papers notarized, copies made, and the papers had to go out today, and it was 4pm (I thought I would have to go to 2 places). There was a line, but I quickly noticed, the woman at the counter, was amazing. People were paying bills, sending packages, doing western union, all kinds of stuff. She was super fast and friendly. And she even noticed some part of my papers that I didn't fill out. But she did not mention that my papers which I was sending 2 day, were not going to leave until the next day, making it 3 day for me. Just making that clear would have been great. read more

Alameda Mailboxes Plus, on Santa Clara near Broadway, are a bunch of thieves. I paid our previous bill with cash, and now they are claiming I never paid it. I *may* have a receipt somewhere, buried in all the paper, but that's going to be nearly impossible to find, so I'll suck up paying them twice for the same service long enough to cancel it, and find someplace which has better prices and doesn't rip off its customers. read more

Lost a package after they signed for it. Told me it was my problem and to file insurance claim with UPS. A week later, they found the package in their packing peanut bin. Owners kids were playing with it! Not even an apology. I had been a customer, and mailbox holder for two years. I switched to UPS store on blanding and haven't been happier! read more
