The address is deceiving. If starting on park ave there is a coffee shop with the same address. Cross park ave and Find the alley leading to a parking lot next to the pizza and shoe store. Follow the alley almost all the way to the next street. It's past the Japanese restaurant on your right. Once found my service was quick. Just be forewarned that if you come here, you're not allowed to take pictures of your packages. I've sworn off going to this post office for years (see my two previous reviews!), but today I was in a pinch, and really needed to get to the post office quick--and this was the closest one. But, I also needed to take a picture of my package (uh oh!) and would you believe that the postal worker here said "no, you are not allowed to do that." She said I could take a picture before putting postage on it, but not after. I swear man. A quick Google search will show that nowhere in the USPS policies does it say that you are not allowed to take a photo of your package after you have put postage on it--in fact, in the in the year of our LORD 2026, where e commerce is a fairly booming practice for... hmm I don't know, literally everyone, it is a fairly standard practice for seller to snap a photo for their buyers, to show that their items have shipped. But hey, what do I know? Fuck me right? I swear this post office just likes to ruin peoples day, and I am not being hyperbolic. read more

This is a hidden gem, which includes a parking lot. Wish I knew that before I found street parking, but they only had a tiny parking lot for 2 automobiles. Still good to know for the future reference. I came right before lunch and got lucky that only 1 customer was in line. The employee was nice enough to guide me on which form to fill out, because I was sending stuff to Switzerland. She helped me pick the best price for me, and process was quick. read more

While in Liverpool, UK I bought 7 books and mailed them home to Alameda, CA, USA. The clerk in Liverpool said it would take 3-4 weeks for me to receive them. They were delivered in 2 weeks but all I received was a notice of the delivery when I returned. I tried to pick up my package but it had already been returned to Liverpool. I stopped in at this post office to mail a bill. I usually go to either the one on Webster Street (west end) or the main one at Southshore. This post office is somewhat a hidden gem, off the beaten paths of Park Street and Park Avenue. I lucked out as there was nobody in line to purchase stamps or send out boxes and packages. That was a good time to seize the opportunity to purchase my forever stamps. The two sheets I purchased were the Lunar New Year (Year of the Rat) and the Black Heritage (Gwen Ifill). They're sheets of stamps to add to my collection. I have to admit these forever stamps are getting costly ($11 for 20 stamps). Stamps were 41¢ each and a sheet cost $8.20 thirteen years ago. I don't know when I will stop collecting stamps, but it's a hobby. I like it when I don't have to wait long at the post office. I am in and out of there in less than five minutes, which is much better than waiting in line at the DMV. read more

I normally go to the Main post office at South Shore for any postal needs. I've passed by this little post office in the past and always wanted to go here the next time I needed postal services. So I finally stopped by to drop off a letter and pick up some Priority boxes. The post office is located in a passage way connecting Park St. and Park Ave. There are some parking spaces for postal customers with entrance from Park Ave. The postal office reminds me of one you would find in a rural area. There were no customers inside, which is quite rare for a post office. I did see one worker in the back. After dropping off my letter in the box and picking up my boxes, I was on my way. A nice little post office to consider if you're in the Park St. area. I will need to come back to utilize the window service for a better overall assessment. read more

I love the convenience of this little post office, located off of Park Street with a little parking lot in the heart of Alameda. I find myself going when I have to mail things home to Hawaii when we shop too much. It has one or two service windows and shipping supplies. I don't recall if they had any post office boxes. read more

Pretty rude all around. She wanted to close and I'm sure she would have closed if I hadn't had the forms filled out ahead of time. I'm sure she would have. I'd only been in there one minute and it was closing in 5 minutes. But I think most people in her place would have dealt with the two packages as fast as possible without even bringing up the time. I had 2 packages and 2 filled out forms. While I looked down at them to figure which went with which she was reaching out for them-- did she say 'come on, come on' or not? I guess that way she wouldn't be one minute late to her lunch behind the counter. At least she did send them. read more

They're always kind, helpful & patient at this smaller post office. It's important to note that usually just one person works at this site, so if you have a ton of items or are in a hurry, you might want to go to the South Shore Station. I refuse to go in this post office. The angry old lady who works here is an angry control freak. I am surprised there are not more negative reviews. She is a legendary jerk in Alameda. Example 1: Customers who walk up to the counter while talking on cell phonea are irritating and disruptive. But I witnessed angry old lady yelling at someone who was listening to voicemails on their cell phone. This person was WAITING IN LINE quietly listening to voicemails, and she stopped what she was doing to point at the 'no cell phones' sign and start yelling at him. Example 2: I used a credit card to purchase, she refused to take my card because on the back of my card I wrote 'See ID' She pointed to the part of the card that says 'not valid without a signature' read more

This post office closes for an hour and a half, smack dab in the middle of the day, which is typically when I'm running work errands and need their services. On the few occasions I've managed to find them open, I've noticed that their rates are much higher than other post offices in Alameda and with less shipping options. Basically what I'm trying to say is that this post office sucks. read more

Not that the post office would ever read this or even care, but I have been coming here more often to mail items and the experience has been horrendous. I get the lines are going to be there at times and that workers are unfriendly, but the thing that made me upset was the inconsistency of closing times for lunch. If it is 1-2:30 PM, why do you post a sign that says be back at 2:45 PM. It's only 15 minutes, but time is a valuable thing. I will be back because I have no other choice. read more

Absolutely loathe having to go to this location because the lead female employee is rude and curt in her manner of treating everyone. She's also super particular about everything. There are no cellphone signs everywhere and today stopped by to mail four packages. The female employee was on a personal phone call during the whole time we interacted. This post office gets gold stars. It's easy to get in here, easy to park, easy to send packages, and the people are really nice. Like some others mentioned, it's actually air conditioned, which rocks on a really hot day. And that's all I have to say about that. read more

I have to say I was amazed today. At 3:30 pm, there was no line. Every time I've been here there has always been a line of few people. This is a tiny post office, and they generally only have one and at most 2 people working. You know your USPS service where they are rather grumpy and not so nice to the customers? Well, not today. I had to ship 3 things, 2 priority and 1 express, and the person even gave me a tip to save $3 on express mail shipping and re-packaged it for me.
