Hello Yelp, It's been some time. But I need to write this review because I am so grateful for the interaction I had here. I called Monday and spoke to Niko I believe, and she was so welcoming. I didn't make it that day, but came in Tuesday and I think they are sisters, but Melinda was working. Not only did she go above and beyond to help my little confused self. She was such a pleasant person to interact with, straight forward, honest and awesome. And honestly, I could have hung out there longer than I needed to be. On top of that, every person that entered the premises was so chill and you could just feel the welcoming atmosphere. I even bought socks and an amazing wristband that my daughter is now wearing. I think you who I am Melinda, but for sure I am coming back and I have more stories. Thank for making my day and just being kind. Because I needed that. First time here Yelp lead me here as I was looking for a Fed-Ex drop location. I needed to return some merchandise. Business is located in a small shopping center There is a private parking lot that is shared with other businesses so parking may be hard to find I walked in and I was the only customer YAY customer service is friendly inside is clean and well organized I dropped off the return and I got a receipt a few hours later I received an email confirmation from the business that my return has been picked up by Fed -Ex and the return is being processed YAY!!!! I have been coming here for some time. The double door makes the business quite a special place. There are a ton of supplies sold here, including boxes and envelopes to meet the needs of a customer in need of mailing things. Renting a mail box is priced at a reasonable amount. I went in and James hooked it up! I had numerous shipments to send out cause I am terrible at returning things when they're not as easy as Amazon - thanks Amazon for making me even lazier! James basically packaged everything up! I just sat around like a pile of rocks while he hooked up all of the packagings. Aside from the USPS taking a left kidney, the staff at Mail Max never fails to deliver. I have gone there multiple times in the past couple of months and their customer service is always excellent. read more

Go to this place before you go to any of the chain places like The UPS store. It is a small business with fair prices and is part of the community. They always have little interesting things for sale also. The staff is friendly and professional. read more

These folks are THE BEST. I had opportunity to get some packing snd shopping done with both the husband and the wife owners. Both were incredibly helpful - gave me great tips on saving money - and helped me pack up valuable belongings. They gave me their time, their masked smiles, and a real human connection - and they gave all these things willingly and generously. Great neighborhood gem of a business with a great owner. Darn, hate when that happens! Even though they are still a "FedEx authorized shipping center", all that means nowadays is that you are allowed to drop off boxes there.... IF you have figured out in advance how to print a mailing label. Mailmax cannot print the FedEx shipping labels from your QR code, which is now the usual FedEx procedure. What a shame! read more

I love this place. Clean, no frills, no drama. Friendly service with a much better vibe than your typical UPS or FedEx store. Prior to getting a printer, I would come here to print stuff out (just email them the documents you want printed), and I just used them to drop off a FedEx package. They also rent out mailboxes and provide notary services, which I haven't availed myself to yet, but if I need it I'll come here. read more

I've been a long-time customer here, and I was so happy when it got changed to new owners. The new owners are very friendly, personable, and professional, and I also appreciate that they are now black-owned as well. Even though I now live in the city, I still keep my mailbox there. Every time I call in to check if I have mail, they're friendly and helpful. Also, I especially appreciate that they will call you and also send email reminders prior to your payment being due. This is something that wasn't done previously and always frustrated and annoyed me a bit because unless I called in to check myself of when my box payment was due, I would be charged a $25 late fee. I also appreciate that they keep their weekend hours open a little later as well since I usually am unable to make it there during the weekdays. read more

I went over to the UPS place on Alcatraz, since ive always gone there. They are always rude, aggressive and unfriendly, but I thought it was my only option. Thankfully, I discovered Mail Max. I came in with a box that I wasnt sure if I was supposed to label or put the info in an envelope. The person behind the counter was incredibly friendly, helpful and relaxed. It was the polar opposite of the UPS shop on Alcatraz. Oh yeah, it was also $10 cheaper. read more

Getting a box here was the best move of my life! I've had a Po box at a UPS store once but service was awful. Here everyone is friendly, relaxed and reliable. You can also package things and use their mailing services, barely ever you'll need to wait. Yay for no longer being a ups hostage (waiting at home for packages) and supporting rad local businesses. read more

Okay... So this might sound dumb but... Guess what?! I don't mail things often. I went into this store with a bunch of stuff and a priority mail box and wanted help packaging and mailing. I don't recommend this approach for anyone. The employee working spoke to me like I was a complete idiot. Her attitude was not pleasant. She addressed me like she was trying to explain mail to a kindergartner. Anyhow, 2 stars because she told me it would cost too much to mail it from there, which I guess is her being honest. She also gave me a little bit of bubble wrap. But... I still didn't accomplish my chore of mailing the damn package! There's no reason to be that irritated. read more

The clerk here was super nice and friendly. There was no line (which is a plus during the holidays) and they are so much nicer than the people at USPS. I work in emeryville and live on the other side of Oakland, so the location was very convenient because it is right next to the 24. I faxed six pages, was charged $7.00 that is ridiculous. Besides the $1 fee per page, I was charged $2 for their cover sheet, which is an ultra basic half sheet of paper that appear to be formatted by a blind 3 year old. I went here for Notary Public services, with my partner coming in from the city so we could co-sign a document. Their hours are posted as ending at 6 p.m. They were closed at 5:40 p.m. Very bummed. read more

I travel a lot and my new business needed a place where parcels could be accepted and stored until I retrieve them. Mail Max is so much easier to deal with than the Post Office or the UPS/FedEx/Kinkos Store. Parking is always easy and I can usually walk right in and get immediate help - no waiting in line. Staff are friendly and the owner is cool. They always seem willing to help me out if I have a special request. Rates are reasonable and they even have a notary service. I had to get something notarized. The woman there did it super fast without any hassles. I also overheard her advising the woman in front of me to take something to the post office the next day because she would save a lot of money over them overnighting it for her. It's refreshing for a business to try to save their customers money even if it results in a loss of sales for them. I will definitely come back here for future notary/shipping needs. read more
