Excellent place to get a gel polish manicure! You have to make an appointment. The manicure cost $35, which is very reasonable. The staff was very friendly, clean restrooms. I truly enjoy coming here. In an out in 45 minutes. Ready for travel with my fancy nails read more

I have nothing but positive comments about nail services at Ala Moana in the Southdale Mall , where I have been going for years. They are professional, courteous and do a great job on manicures and pedicures. They follow all safety guidelines and provide comfortable surroundings, including a massage chair during pedicures. They are open every day of the week which makes getting appointments very easy. The staff is very friendly and welcoming as well. I would highly recommend Ala Moana Nails to those looking for a great mani or pedi! read more

Worst manicure ever! I had a decent amount of growth on my nails, but some were longer than others. I wanted them as near as possible to be all the same length. The nail tech cut a thumbnail first and asked me if it was ok. I replied, "Too short! Way too short!". Apparently, she wasn't paying attention, because she proceeded to cut the others the same. When she was done she asked, "You want shorter?". It's bad enough that they will be tender for at least another ten days, but they would be bleeding if they were any shorter! This is not the place to go if you have any kind of disability that prohibits you from standing up and walking away (I am in a wheelchair). read more

i have gone to get my nails done at this salon 3 times now, and every single time i leave i am left with the best dipped full set i've ever gotten. the salon itself is not super glamorous like other salons, but they do a FAR better job than any of those salons. i am impressed every single time i go! will be returning as long as i live in the area. read more

My first mistake was expecting a good service from this place. Its my first time actually going to a nail salon so I was not prepared for the unprofessional service I was getting. I asked for hard gel nails with a french tip and ended up with acrylic nails with gel polish and french tip which was not a problem for me at all. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. I paid $65 for this. The only time I ever complained was when they wanted me to walk out with transparent runny polish. read more

Ala Moana Nails - One day after a gel manicure. $96 dollars later, I will never be back. - Nail Salons Near Me - Minneapolis, Minnesota

I have been going to this salon for years. I love the people and would never go anyplace else. I drive 30 minutes out of my way to go here. I always do gel mani and pedi's. The service I receive is efficient but more importantly I appreciate the attention to detail and the quality. My mani's always look great for two weeks. Pedis even longer. I love the color options and feel like they are always getting new selections in. read more

I get my gel mani and pedi's here all the time. I was actually shocked to see some of the negative reviews. I've had nothing but positive experiences here. I'd say I'm actually very picky when it comes to my nails. I've worked in the salon industry for over 20 years and make the 20-25 minute drive. My gel polish almost always last 2 weeks plus....usually till it grows out and I have it removed or redone. I would definitely recommend for gel mani and pedi's! read more

Tried them out for a fill and gel polish hoping to love them because they are so close to my house and open 7 days a week. I really enjoyed the lady that did my nails but not so impressed with the final result and the price. $40 for a fill??? My polish is a beautiful lighter color, she put 2 coats on but now after being in real light, you can tell that there should have been 3 coats applied. Also the whole nail isn't covered on may of the nails, steaky polish and you can see through in many spots. Not work the extra $$ from what I usually spend for much better quality. UPDATE - I went back 5 days after getting nails done because almost all of them were peeling. She redid them but guess what, it's 4 days later and they are peeling AGAIN. I will NEVER return. This update has changed my original 2 star review down to a 1 star. I do not recommend at all. read more

Went in for a full Set as a treat to myself. 32$ (for color, nor even French tips) which is pretty pricey. After I handed her two 20's she put it in her drawer. Ok cool, 8$ tip. She didn't do any sort of manicuring beforehand except cutting my nails. Nothing with cuticles, which I did need. My acrylics were extremely thick and once I left I even noticed there was huge hard chunks underneath the nails. Normally they file those out. I chose a neutral white/natural color, the fan mad it wrinkle and look stripey. She should've done another coat. My set didn't even last 2 weeks before nails started popping off. (I have never had that happen) I don't do any sort of hard work with my hands that would cause extra stress on my nails either. Very disappointed that I wasted 40$ at this salon. Won't be back. read more

Yeah, I'm giving this place a 4. Because for a small nail salon they did a great job for $16. I will occasionally get inexpensive manicures if I'm feeling too lazy to do it myself. This place is incredibly friendly and they did a great job. Sometimes the manicurist butchers my cuticles or makes me bleed; but they are so gentle i didn't even feel it and she did an awesome job. You get a little hand massage before they put on the polish and for $16 it is well worth the price. They have acrylic nails there too and pedicure stations but i haven't tired those. it seems like they get a lot of returning customers because the technicians were chatting with customers about their kids like they knew each other. The decor is lacking and the wall by the polish is stained with some of the polish spills, but it is clean and the stations are nice. The salon is located in the top level of the Southdale Mall, by Macy's. If you take the elevator straight up, its right by it. read more

If you are going to charge $35 for a pedicure I expect a lot more. It was pretty basic, nothing fancy. They charge extra if you want any kind of nail art and they sliced my sister's toe with the buffer without a discount or an apology. Would never go back. read more

I have been a casual pedicure customer here for years. I always have friendly, gentle service and the facility is clean. It's not ultra fancy but they don't charge ultra fancy prices. Bring cash for a tip, this is an industry-wide thing so the low-paid workers can keep their tips without tax or fear of being audited. After reading other reviews, I feel like other people are too critical for a low-cost, low-commitment service to get your feet or nails done! read more

Just got a full set of acrylics. It was a little pricey, $50 for a full set, but that's okay. They look good, and there was good service. The only complaints that i have are; 1. i was cut 3 different times while she was using the drill file, and they all started to bleed. 2. i'm not sure if it's just me, but 2 of my nails look a little crooked. Other than this, i think it was great. read more

Ala Moana Nails - Nail Salons Near Me - Minneapolis, Minnesota

I've been going to Ala Moana for 10 years. Owners and staff are always friendly and professional and I know I'll feel better when I leave the salon! Have consistently gotten compliments on how nice my nails look. I highly recommend going. Best to make an appointment. read more

Fantastic pedicure!!! But this place only take cash Tips?! WRONG!!! If you expect a tip these days let it be done electronically!!! OR YOU WILL NOT GET A TIP!!! Come on?!?!? My pedicure was great but I never carry cash on me and found out that they only take cash tips I was Modified!!! I could not leave a tip I WANTED TO!!!! But I never carry cash!!! So this place needs to change their cash tip policy OR THEY WILL NOT BE TIPPED!!! Besides I am sure it's not right with the IRS taxes wise I am sure!!!! The pocket the tips. Even that I don't mind, but like I said and like 3 others before me could not tip because they had no CASH!!! Wish up you all missed out on a lot of Dow today!!!! read more

This place is full of rude people, wanting to charge $40 just for a color change. The owner was super rude and wouldn't even pay attention to me and my concerns, only concerned about what was on the TV. read more

I was able to get in was a walk-in right way, which was nice. The woman who did my pedicure was nice. They have a very slim selection of gel colors, but I always get the same few colors anyways, so that wasn't an issue for me, but I could see how others would have to settle for a color. During the pedicure she did a good job removing my old gel and shaping my nails and the color was applied nicely. But that was the end of my pedicure. She used cuticle oil to spread on my legs and feet and then covered them with a warm towel and then wiped the oil off and told me I was done. The other ladies in the salon, who were clearly regulars as they were chatting and making future appointments, received leg and foot massages while sitting next to me. For $50 it felt like a rip off. I would never come back here again. read more

Very nice place especially for inside a mall. I have had negative experiences before in mall nail salons whether they seem to rush to get through or it's too noisy and chaotic. I found it to be very relaxing and quiet and my nail technician did a great job! I got just a regular pedicure for $35 and they gave a very nice massage on top of the normal pedicure stuff. I was surprised to hear it was an extra $16 to add a manicure because it seems most places are about $10 extra when you are getting a pedicure on too. I would definitely go back. It seems very clean and the whole staff seems very nice and friendly. read more

Because the salon is inside the mall they charge more...I will stick to my cheap salon that only charges me $45 for Mani and Pedi and does a much nicer job! I paid $60 here. Don't get me wrong it's a decent place but not worth the extra money. read more

Worst pedicure I've ever had...and I've had a lot! Salon looked new and mostly clean. Workers were indifferent, rude. My attendant, a man who never introduced himself acted as if I were an imposition on him. He was rough in his technique to which I had to ask twice if he could be more gentle. (and I'm no wimp!) Often holding and picking up my foot by the big toe which was not only painful but also so unprofessional. The clincher was when my friend, also getting a pedi's boyfriend met up with us and was asked to not sit in the pedicure chair next to his girlfriend! (Mind you there were about 8 chairs free and not another customer in the place.) We will never be back. I can't imagine they'll stay in business long with these practices! read more

I've been coming to this group for 15 years or more. They always do a great job, the owner is friendly and the whole team will take good care of you. They are professional, and provide great service. The value of their service is also great - $16 for a manicure. They recently relocated to second floor, near The Woods/Macys at Southdale and I can't wait to climb into one of their new pedicure chairs. The shop is not loud, unless there's an excited group of customers in the house. I highly recommend you take time to check out this shop and am sure you too will be back for another pampering. Regarding the negative reviews below, I'm sorry you had a bad experience and left disappointed. $35 for a pedicure is pretty average rate. Check the neighborhood, you can pay more than double that and get nothing more - in fact, I had a certificate for a big name salon and used it for a pedi - completely not worth it. I'm sure I was the FIRST pedicure the service provider ever did. Terrible. I hope you have taken time to post a rave review about a service you have received that did a great job - and not just blasting those here you are disappointed or mad about. The people at Ala Moana will take good care of you. They have a number of clients that come back time and time again and to me, that speaks volumes. Job well done! I really enjoy coming here. Thank you! read more

I've been going to this nail salon since I was a teenager and I always return whenever I'm in town. All the people working here are very professional and kind and always make sure that you get what you want. They won't make a big deal if you ask them to file a nail a little bit more or if you want an extra coat of polish on your nails. Mary and Kim are very professional and whenever I get acrylics or a gel manicure done, I'm always very happy and my nails last for a good amount of time. The place is clean and they always make sure to take their tools fresh out of the cleaning machine. The prices are fair. They never have old nail polish so my manicures rarely chip and they always make sure that your experience is a comfortable one. They do accept walk-ins but it's best for you to book an appointment in advance. They usually run on time and if they're running late, you never have to wait for more than 10 minutes. read more

The Service they provided was okay but since when do these places not scrub the feet? I don't mean for the callouses but for the dead skin? Sheesh! I've had numerous pedicures at various places over the years and Every Place USED to scrub the feet and the lower half of the leg. But all of a sudden most salons stopped doing this. I'd like to know why? It NEVER hurt and it actually felt good. Almost like a massage. Plus they were obviously talking about me in their native tongue! When will these places realize that it is ALWAYS rude to speak in any foreign language in front of a customer? It is also very unprofessional. I'm never going back to this place! I'd rather pay a little more and get Proper foot care and Polite Employees who ONLY speak English in front of their customers. As any Good Business Would. read more

I really like this salon, I always see Mary and she's excellent. Prices are competitive and it's clean. I would suggest making an appointment ahead of time, since it gets busy on weekends. read more

I was really surprised when she rang me up at the end and my "polish change" was $37! They charge $12 more than Envy Nails down the street and a $5 additional charge to remove your previous gel polish. Needless to say, she didn't tell me ahead of time they charge that. Not impressed. read more

Expensive compared to some but worth it. Followed Kim here from Ridgedale. She's the best!

WORST PLACE EVER!!!! I'm not even exaggerating. I went to go get acrylics by Kim and instead of getting a beautiful set of new acrylics I got a bloody finger, all my fingers sore and a messed up nail. There is a black spot on my white nail. I've been there before and they did a pretty nice job but after this I'm never coming back again. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND ANYONE THIS PLACE! read more

The staff here are really friendly but on my second visit the manicurist butchered my big toe and it resulted in a bad infection! I definitely won't go back!! read more

I had one of the best pedicures here, Mary did an outstanding job! Definitely will be coming back and recommend it! Reasonably priced too!

My pedicure was decent, but my experience was lessened by the following: 1) I was assigned the chair at the end, which has clearly been ravaged by overuse. Not a good feeling sitting in a torn up chair with janky side tables. 2) The lady kept calling me "honey." I don't know you, lady. 3) Like others have stated, there is no option to tip using your credit card. I luckily had cash, but it's 2017.... Replace that chair, don't use terms of endearment, and get a legit credit card terminal. read more

I go to the lower elvel, they are much friendlier. The manager on the upper level can be quite unfriendly, rude so I avoid her by going to the lower level. They do a great job and if you have an appointment, they do not make you wait by cramming in a walk in just before the appointment. read more

5 bridemaids went for a manicure and all loved it. I got the basic manicure. The atmosphere is very relaxing. Love it and i'll definatley go back here read more
