i asked for a simple french manicure with chrome finish and to keep my nail length and shape as is. literally all of my nails are different lengths and shapes and the french tip is different thickness and shape on every nail. i also got my finger cut open, and on another nail the french tip is smudged entirely. to top it all off i got charged extra for the french tips that are so uneven and smooth im going to have to fully cut my nails off to deal with since i have 3 weekends of events in a row that i also mentioned. the pictures look way better than in person and that's saying something. read more

I was staying at a hotel across the street for a wedding so I stopped in for a basic manicure. I've never seen this before... I guess she didn't go all the way to the edges with the second layer so it's all sorts of uneven and does not look good. Unfortunately it was $25 dollars and I tipped $5. I did need the skin help considering I've been working with my hands a lot, but I could've painted them better myself. Don't waste the money. read more

My new favorite place for a manicure and pedicure. I loved their upgrade Deluxe pedicure for the same price. All the ladies working there are very friendly. I arrived during the day and I was the only customer. The lady named Thanh was super nice. She did an amazing job, while she was massaging my feet and putting spa product on my leg I had to ask her again to make the price was the same for this kind of service. I paid $42. That is really cheap! Most places are $45 or more for a simple mani and pedi. I can't wait to go back! read more

I went in last minute for a pedicure and the ladies were so so so so nice. The pedicure was as expected but she kept digging into both my big toes saying I had ingrown toenails, when before my visit I had zero pain or swelling. Shortly after I left my big toe started swelling and was so red. Today I woke up to it throbbing and leaking puss and even more swollen. I really liked the ladies but i didn't pay for a infection :( read more

I was very disappointed with the quality of my pedicure. It took 30 minutes total. Really any massage included (Deluxe pedicure, not) and,the polish doesn't look very nice. They didn't polish the edge of the nail like you would expect from a quality salon. For $38 + a fee of $1.50 for using a credit card, it was not at all worth it. Ouch!! I had a pedicure yesterday & it felt like the woman hated my feet instead of "pampering them." She went wild with the pumice stone on the soft parts of my skin - I asked her to stop because it burned. The worst part is that I woke up with a throbbing big toe due to her digging under my nails. It's bandaged with antibiotic cream instead of looking pretty with a new pedicure for Christmas. No exaggeration I can't put pressure on it this morning. * WHERE/WHEN * Went in to Twin City Nails last night (Wednesday) at about 6:50pm, they close at 8pm. I was greeted by a woman that asked what I wanted, I answered a full set of nails. She said umm.. then looked at the clock and then at the appt books and said okay fine, take a seat here. I cracked that up as whatever I came in close to close she's probably had a long day just like me. * SERVICE * She got started right away by glueing on the nails.. no cuticle trimming and didn't even make sure to get all of my charcoal colored polish off so you can see that in some of the corners of my nails. I would say i'm the most annoyed by the fact she didn't trim my cuticles or push them back so the polish was right up to my cuticles. The pictures i've provided look like they are a few days old because of how far out the polish looks on my nails but they were taken an hour after the service. * COLORS * While I was picking out the gel polish colors (they have a zillion to pick from) I happened to pick out a color i loved when i showed her she said they were phasing those out and didn't have that one. Why is it a choice then? * VERDICT * Overall the place is fine. I will probably never go back. I'm not saying I wanted a spa service but i'd say you would probably get a little more at most places at least polish that covers all of your nail and they take care of your cuticles. The lady who did my nails was super nice. She accidentally made my finger bleed with the file. I said it was okay because I barely felt it and she kept apologizing. She was very efficient & paid attention to details. My nails turned out gorgeous! However, I paid $67 for a full set. 3 days after getting my nails done, my pinky nail broke. I was cleaning my kitchen. A normal daily activity. I wasn't too upset about it because I thought it was my fault. It hasn't even been a full week and now my middle finger nail broke off. I have never had a full set feel so frail and break off that easily. You would think spending that much money would be worth it. But they barely lasted a full week. I was super happy leaving the salon but now I'm very sad they didn't last long. read more

I couldn't be more pleased with the pedicure I got at Twin City Nails. I went to TCN a little over a month ago, and my pedicure still looks almost brand new. In fact, last night my boyfriend got home and asked me if I had just had a pedicure (he obviously wasn't looking super close, but it still looks pretty good)! I made a reservation on a Thursday evening for 2 pedicures at 3:30pm the next day. When we arrived on Friday, the nail salon was packed, but since we had a reservation, they got us in right away. The pedicures lasted about 40 minutes, and the nail technicians were nice and efficient, although not overly friendly. The shop is also very reasonably priced - $30/pedicure. Just got my nails done and I love them. This is my first time as Twin City Nails and it was a great experience. First thing I noticed when I stepped in was how clean the place was. Everything was well organized, floor spotless and it didn't have a burnt plastic like smell that some places do. The middle of the store is where they keep their selection of nail polish and they are even on spinners so it's easy to select the color you like. I liked this compared to other places I've been before. Sometimes you feel awkward walking to a wall or somewhere else that seems hard to get to. Staff was very friendly. I enjoyed sitting down with Ngoc. Not only was she very talkative she was very professional. You can tell with the speed and efficiency she did my nails that she has been working the industry for awhile. It made me feel like i was being very well taken care of. I went to this salon today to get my nails filled. I went on Yelp before hand and the reviews overall were really positive so I had high hopes. Boy, was I wrong. The girl who did my nails was nice. I went here on a Tuesday evening around 5:30ish and just walked right in. A lady said hello right away and asked what I wanted to do, which was nice because sometimes you are ignored when you walk in nail salons at first! She was super helpful and nice. I ended up getting gel polish done, but no manicure because I'm going to do that in 2 weeks before a wedding that I'm in. I just wanted a quick gel polish to help my nails grow out - but that's besides the whole point of this review hahaha ANYWAY... just gel polish is $20, and I believe a gel manicure is $35? Prices are decent. One thing I LOVED about this nail salon is the choice of nail polish colors - they have so many nude shades (pink and brown tones) that I love!!! It's so hard to find the perfect nude or neutral color, so I loved their choices. One thing I didn't know is that tip is cash only... Thankfully I had cash floating around in my purse, but I'd feel super bad if I didn't! Overall, my nails look super good and I love the color! I chose Twin City Nails based on other reviews, and I was impressed. We made appointments, and despite being busy we were all settled in right away. I warned the manicurist that I am a bit of a perfectionist, and she did a great job with the polish. The only knock (which is a big contributor to any service experience) is that she was very harsh and rough on my nails. Hard filing, rough buffing and overall a bit abrasive in the process. It felt very rushed and not at all relaxing. Cold water to soak my nails, and I was a bit tense during the whole process. Bummer. That said, everything looks great and I am crossing my fingers these beauties last me 2 weeks - if so, then it was still worth it even with the less-than-peaceful process. Looking for a new salon to do my pedicures, my feet get nasty from standing 8-10 hours a day at work wearing dress shoes. Decided to give this place a go, saw it many times when I pick up my Caribou coffee. Best idea ever!!! Place is very clean and the chairs were very comfortable. I didn't have an appointment, but because I was one of the first people there, I didn't have to wait. I worked with Alisha and she was very friendly, not to mention she speaks perfect English so that was a plus. Sometimes you go to these shops, and they have no clue what you're saying. I tried to mind my own business, playing on my ipad but couldn't. The staff actually wanted to have conversation. I was just so used to going to salons where the staff will work on your feet but is silent to you during the whole time, or holding their own conversation in a language you can't understand, which makes the whole experience awkward. So I gotten many pedi's before, but besides getting the regular scrub down, this time I had my feet wrapped in a hot towel, that was a first for me. Felt really good. I wish I got a good foot massage too, but every place is different. I ended up doing a manicure also since she did such an awesome job on my feet. It was nice and smooth, overall very satisfied with the work. This is my first time reviewing a place, but I gotten such a good experience I want everyone to know that they should give it a try. I made an appointment for a pedicure based on the good reviews I saw on Yelp. When I walked in, the place was packed and the atmosphere was anything but relaxing. Between the wall color, the smell of nail products and the loud music, Twin City Nails is definitely a nail "place" not a "spa". On to the pedicure. As it was happening, I thought it was fine, though there were a few ouches while the pedicurist cut my cuticles. On leaving, I thought it was a place I wouldn't *not* go to again but would try somewhere else first. No, this is not the same service that you would get from a salon-salon, however the price paired with the service was pretty spectacular. I came in here after a quick HH at BLVD around 5:30pm. Although it was quite busy, there was only a 15 minute wait for a mani-pedi. Lucky of me, there was a free upgrade to a "deluxe" pedi that day. This included some kind of mud-masque for your feet and salt scrub. Heavenly. For the first time before getting the service I did not even check the price list, so to my surprise a really pleasant and nicely done mani/pedi shook out to $40. Now I'm not sure I would make the drive for my next nail-job, but if you're out in the West Suburbs it's worth a try. read more

I love Twin City Nails, the service is on par every time. Everyone in there is friendly, the space is nice and there is a really good color selection. I used to go every 2 weeks for a pedicure here. Unfortunately I moved away from the area and now sometimes go to a place closer to me for convenience/time purposes. However, if I had my choice and no scheduling conflicts, I would come here every time. The nail technicians are great here. Not only are they friendly and talkative, unlike some nail places with the awkward silence, they do a great job for a good price. I'm pretty particular about my pedicures. I'm not too good to my feet; I wear a lot of heels and sandals. I like my pedicures to involve some pretty intense callus removal and careful cuticle shaping. Twin City Nails always delivers. I love this salon. It is simple and every person has done an excellent job when I have gotten a gel manicure. They accommodate walk-ins but I would recommend making an appointment to relieve the wait time. Mindy and Tracy are so nice and do a stellar job. We got our nails done here this past Friday and Jade did a good job. It's Monday and I still have no chips. I would've given more stars but I originally went in for a polish change. She took me to the pedicure chair and wanted me to take off my shoes and I said no, I just need a polish change on my hands. Instead of giving me a polish change, I got a manicure - which I didn't want because I had a manicure about 10 days before and didn't need the whole enchilada again. $60 for fake tips and gel. Well my left thumb is about 4 mm shorter then my right thumb. None of the nails were shaped correctly. Or she really did not do that until I mentioned that they all look different, but she was not able to correctly shape them. It was the fastest and the most unprofessional gel fil Ive had experienced in my life. Granted, Ive only done it about a dozen of times, this was absolutely the worst. I do not know the name of the person who did this to me, she did not introduce herself. The shop was pretty busy and it feels a bit crambped in there. They do have a good selection of colors. An appointment making accident had me going to Twin City nails for the first time. Thanks to my sister in law for a fun afternoon. This is probably the tightest spaced nail salon I have ever been in. The colors are located in the middle between the pedicure chairs and the manicure tables. Honestly it's kind of a mess. The fact that they still get 3 stars even after giving my sister in law cold pedicure soaking water is a testament to how good the rest of the time went. I was asked how long I wanted my toe nails and when I said as short as possible she did her best to cut and file them short without causing pain. I usually cut my toe nails so short that it hurts to wear shoes the first time so this is a really good job to get em short to my liking! She also asked how long I wanted my finger nails and what shape. Unlike other experiences I've had in the past this information was actually used on my hand and they look so great. they are well shaped and a good length. This place is great!! They have the really nice scrub for pedicures at no extra charge. Reasonable prices and great/ friendly staff. Make sure you bring cash for tips because you can't add it on a card but that is normal for most places. They are very quick and accurate. I work at a labor intensive job and I'm on my feet all day. I just relocated from SLP and used TC nails for the 18 months I lived there. I tried 3 salons prior to TC nails and finally settled on them. They had the best price and the best nails. Jade does a wonderful job on learning your preferences and she aims to please. I will miss the ladies there, especially Jade, and recommend their services.
