The waiter that will scam you

They draw you in with a nice guy who talks about the menu, we sat down and a nice guy brought our drinks. He then switched up his attitude and was very rude and unpleasant telling us we could not change anything on our dishes even though the guy outside said we could. Was told pasta was handmade and fresh, but it tasted like it came out of a box and wasn't even cooked right or seasoned properly. Overheard the same waiter pressuring another table to give him a 10% tip and cussing to himself at the pos system when entering something in for another party. He brought the food and ignored us the rest of the time and we had to ask 3 different people for the check and when it finally was brought from someone else he came asking for a tip saying to tip him for his service, I said no and he threw the receipt and pen down for me to sign. He looks like a little angry elf so keep an eye out for him. Put a photo from another review of Santa's little helper

Great new restaurant! Roberto & his brother bring a wealth of experience to a nifty menu.

If I read the Google Maps reviews about this place sooner, we would've absolutely avoided this restaurant. Be ware, as our group fell for the tourist traps. We passed this restaurant walking back to our Air Bnb. We were hot and hungry after a morning of exploring so we chose this place as it was the nearest. A employee was standing outside and encouraged us to dine. All staff was friendly at first, but when it came to paying our bill they were lagging even after asking multiple employees for it, seemed like they were ignoring us. The restaurant is a space small so we could tell it was not even busy. They charged extra fees we were unaware of: 10% disguised as tax, the waiter also insisted adding tip since it was not included. We were told by a friend that tips are not customary in Europe and is usually already include in the menu price, so we were surprised by this. But we didn't want to be rude and tipped another 10% anyway. The waiter also left a basket of bread on our table. This is typically complementary in the U.S., but they added another charge for this on our bill. No other restaurants we went to in Rome charged these type of fees or weren't transparent about additional charges as we ordered. My entire group had their pasta dishes and they were all pretty good but not worth getting scammed for. There are many other restaurants nearby we would've rather walked further to.

I don't usually give reviews, but I had to write one for this restaurant. Great Italian Food for a very good price. We ordered the seafood spaghetti, clams spaghetti, lambs with rosemary, lobster spaghetti and a pizza with mushrooms, sausage and ham. All the dishes were great. Their wine and beer selection was also excellent with very reasonable prices for both glass and bottles. Great food with great service.

This was a relatively quiet place away from all of the tourist restaurants on the main road. We shared the potato gnocchi, meat cannelloni and cheese and spinach ravioli. All of the platters were a good portion and tasted great! Lots of cheese to go around! The wait staff was helpful and spoke some English which was good form our first night in Italy. The Chardonnay had a nice sweet finish and it was authentic Italian.

When we arrived on a late afternoon, we waited about 10 minutes before getting seated. To start off, we got the Limoncello Spritz (€10) and Aperol Spritz (€10), which were refreshing. For our pasta, we ordered the Fettuccine with Oxtail (€18) and Carbonara (€17). We also wanted to order two more Secondi dishes, but the waiter warned us that the pasta is filling. After we finished the pasta, we did still order the Rabbit (€19) because it wasn't something we usually see on the menu. For the carbonara, the flavor was delicious but not really my favorite pasta shape. It was also quite al dente with a chewy texture. I have to say that the oxtail was spectacular though with its juicy and tender meat sauce. While the rabbit was nice to try once, it was a bit dry with minimal meat. Overall, good spot but nothing worth waiting too long for. Also, I'd stick to the pasta here as it's all handmade. You even see them handrolling them inside. Note that they also charge €2 per person for service fee already.

The pasta was perfectly cooked, coated in the creamiest, silkiest sauce, and the Parmesan cheese was absolutely heavenly. Simple ingredients, flawless execution. I also had the berry cheesecake, and it was just as amazing. Light, creamy, not too sweet, and the berry topping tied everything together perfectly. Pure heaven from start to finish. From the food to the experience, this place is a must when you're in Rome. I'd come back again and again without hesitation.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

Seafood risotto was fresh. Grilled radicchio was like stir fried. Dinner for 3 for 77 euros, impressively busy for a Tuesday night. Friendly staff, easy for English speakers. :)
