The food was good overall, but the standout dish for me was definitely the ravioli with pistachio sauce -- absolutely delicious and something I highly recommend! Quick spot for a mid day meal with welcoming indoor seating with what looked like a full bar, and outside tables, as well. We had the cheese burger, fried calamari and shrimp, sea bass with potato and one of their three bruschetta. Also, a strawberry shake for desert to share! Service was quick. Waitress spoke perfect English and tolerated my efforts of Italian. The burger was a bit dry, so it didn't taste as good as it looked, but the sea bass and potato was tasty and nice playing. The fried calamari and shrimp was fantastic! The bruschetta had tasty tomatoes, but I would have like more garlic for my taste. So many places to eat... checked off one! read more

Stopped here for lunch when walking around the streets of Rome. Located fairly close to the Coliseum, this is no tourist joint. We were seated outside and appreciated the shade and cooling fan. The place had a nice corner street vibe with lots of people walking by. My daughters (16 and 12) had the pesto pasta and it was very tasty. The basil taste was very strong. My wife had a broccoli and sausage pasta dish and she too loved it. I had the three (or 4?) cheese Gnocchi and it is one of the best I have ever had. We ordered the steak tartare, which had a generous amount of truffle. The bruschetta was delicious, with perfectly toasted bread. We also had the fettuccine Alfredo, which was creamy and delightful. The food was wonderful, though ordering a Primi and Secondi was a bit much. It is a relatively small space considering some of the other locations and the seating is rather close, but nothing unusual for the area. First and foremost, this was the only restaurant that had service with the bill as an option, which was odd. Likely something for tourist, which I've run into before.They also had a specific server names Raz assigned to us who had the best English language skills. I don't do many reviews, but needed to rate this one. From a pure food perspective, Benso 215 was the best restaurant we ate at during our two weeks in Italy. And this includes several high-end restaurants which were much higher priced! We ended up sharing food all across the table because everyone wanted to try each other's dishes. Yelp isn't great for international reviews, but note that Benso is rated much higher on the travel sites. read more

Went here super late in my first night in Rome because it was the closet place open. I was pleasantly surprised with the food. It was my first time eating Cacio e Pepe and shocked at how good such a simple dish could be. The pasta is homemade and the sauce was super creamy and well balanced. We came to this place as a plan b. We found this place because it was the closest to us at the moment. As a tourist to this place, I would be okay with it but if you are an American tourist be for-warned that they will ask if you want to leave a tip. You of course have every right to say no as it is not customary to leave a tip but they know American's typically leave tips. The food was mediocre. I had the carbonara pasta and it was only okay. The service was pretty much non-existence except for the two girls at the next table. The waitress that took our order disappeared. The waiters were hitting on the girls at the next table. No one there cared and to ask for a tip because we're Americans is wrong when you didn't earn it. read more

I went there after a long walk from the Roman Forum. I didn't want to eat in the super touristy area, so I decided to walk a little further. I ordered a bacon carbonara dish. The taste was just okay, nothing impressive. The bacon was too salty and the pasta itself didn't taste much. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish, most of the people ordered pizzas. I liked the outdoor sitting area. Very quiet and relaxing. Some random street vendors and street performers would come to you. The servers were very friendly. Overall, the experience was good. We were walking to another restaurant and just stopped to look at the menu. Half of our party is vegetarian and so this menu looked very appealing to us, so we decided to eat here. We had a large group of 8 people including 4 small children and they sat us immediately at 6:45pm, which I guess is relatively early for dinner in Rome. The service was great. The waiter was always around and we were a fairly demanding group, but they always had a smile on their face. Our group ordered a variety of dishes but everyone was happy. I had a lemon and pistachio ravioli (something I had never seen before) and it was delicious. Very different. The caprese salad was the best I have ever had and I get it a lot back in the US in little Italy's from New York, Boston, Chicago and LA. My wife had the Orchiette with Broccoli and Sausage, my brother had the beef lasagna and my sister-in-law had risotto with asparagus. Everyone was very happy. If I weren't leaving tomorrow I would come here again to try the gnocchi. read more

We initially chose Benso 215 because it was conveniently located right next to our hotel, but we returned again because the food and atmosphere was so welcoming. If you are longing for American food they have a wonderful hamburger and fries. They also have a comprehensive menu full of Italian food options. If you are a fan of white wines I recommend trying their Moscato. Overall, the restaurant is great for what we were looking for: convenient food close to the hotel. read more

We spent 5 days in Rome and tried this spot around the corner from our hotel. I had a couple glasses of Moscato which was great. I enjoyed the 4 cheese gnocchi which was delicious! My portion size was great....I had to take some leftovers. My husband enjoyed the filet with a pepper sauce on top of bread.. so good (it's a very larger thicker steak so if you like medium do medium well). We ordered a side of fries which were delicious!! The hospitality in Rome was fanastic with exception to this restaurant. We were stopped by the nice greeter outside to have us dine with them. He seated us, we waited, and watched the staff walk by us numerous times for 5-10 minutes, never being acknowledged. The restaurant was not busy and their 4-5 other staff members were just standing around. Then what looked like the manager, only came towards us when we stood up to leave. We described our disaapointment and she insisted that we should have asked for service in order to shift the blame onto us. How insulting!
