The food here is great. Well made, hot and delicious. The orecchiette with broccoli and sausage was amazing. The roasted veal was soft and tender; very delicious. And the roasted potatoes were cooked well. The Italini cocktails were delicious. My favorite was the one made with gin, bitters, and Prosecco. Sitting outside was nice. It was clean covered and a great way to experience some Italian vibe. The service at the beginning was great, but once that waiter left or took a break the others were not up to par. The rigatoni was v good but sooo heavy of a dish. The clam/mussel pasta was lighter but why was it still so salty??????? Everything was cooked a bit too al dente imo. I came alone, sat outside, and only had the wild boar ragu (papparadelle al ragù di cinghiale) which I previously had tried, loved, and could not find again in Canada. So I was quite excited to come across this dish again in Rome. The pasta was perfectly al dente and portion sizes leaned towards large for roman standards, but the sauce was bland and the flavours of the meat didn't really come through well. It felt more like a home meal than restaurant fare, and the one I had in Canada was miles better. I also ordered a cappucino (€3) which was creamy and fantastic. When paying the bill, I saw that they had a fresh-looking appetizer buffet offered inside the restaurant. Had I seen that, I would have opted to try that instead as there was a large variety of unique items available. Came here on recommendation from a friend. The restaurant is pretty large, with the usual indoor + outdoor seating. We opted for indoor. One thing that stood out is how massive the menu is, so many options! We got the grilled octopus as the appetizer. The octopus was cooked perfectly, with a good char on the outside. However, the yellow sauce was really salty. I had to scrape it off of the octopus. I also got a manhattan for the drink, which they gave in a massive cup. I got the cacio e pepe as the main dish. The noodles were very al dente, more so than I'm used to. Other than that, the pasta was very good and tasty. I don't think they used cream, but I'm also not sure. I'd definitely come back, but I think I'd try something else like the lasagna (which the table beside us got, and which looked amazing). Overall, great value and flavor! read more

Traveling I relay on Yelp. This was one restaurant that I went because of it name. But the food and service will give it 5 stars. The waiter had many tables but he still had time for us. The short ribs were amazing- the antipasto was large enough to share with the table- fish was cooked with correct spices and beatable. The veal- we had 2 ways and each way was tender- melt in the mouth and who needed a knife. Just cut with your fork. They paired the wine- and dessert to complement the main course. So if you ate in Rome- take that trip down the side street. You will not be disappointed. read more

Wow!! Wow and wow again! La Famiglia is an amazing friendly restaurant with delicious food. A friend of mine recommended that we come here for dinner tonight and it was nothing short of amazing! To start the selection of items were right on with a mix of salads, soups, lasagna, pasta, wine, and desserts! The portions--wow, for the amount you are paying I was definitely expecting less in size, but I got the opposite! The portions were of great size that matched the price right on--wow! I ordered their broccoli and lasagna special. Both were super yummy and ended up being combined with some peppers and olive oil! Another wow! I had a couple of bites before my stomach told me "no more". This will definitely be my breakfast or early lunch! Also, the service--wow--George was our server and he was nothing short of sweet, helpful, and kind! And this is a major reason I plan to come back tomorrow at 16! Yes, tomorrow, because the food was just that awesome!! They not only have a menu, but a buffet as well. I am not a huge buffet fan, but their buffet looked beautiful, fresh, and diverse--everything from chicken wings to eggplant to pasta--looked super yummy!! Diners beware there is a 12% service fee to dine here that is hidden and no previous review points out. Clearly reviews need to be updated to mention reality. Portion sizes are no longer huge but average. Bruschetta is a single slice of bread with tomato. Ordinary water is poured into recycled bottles and passed on as branded. This restaurants cuts corners to deliver mediocre food and service what appears reasonable at first glance but in the end a total rip off. They would not seat my mother and I at a table outside where pedestrians who were passing through would be able to clearly see us. The waiter asked the owner if we could sit there but he said there were reservations. We gave him the benefit of the doubt and sat at a table tucked inside the back of a tent. Minutes later, a Caucasian couple who were just passing by, who did not make reservations, were seated at the table easily. Wanted to give 2 stars but gave it 3 because they did have great lasagna. Our hotel recommended this place, which was very convenient since it was across the street. I looked up their Yelp reviews as I usually do and it looked very promising. Prices were great, lasagna was delicious, but their " Spaghetti allá Carbonara" was extremely disappointing. We all know carbonara should be creamy.. A sauce created by stirring the egg mixture into the pasta quickly enough to cook the egg, making sure it's not too hot to make it curdle or scramble the egg. By the looks of our picture, this "spaghetti allá carbonara" was obviously not creamy. We were basically served pasta with scrambled eggs. When we told our waiter that it was over cooked, his response was "oh no, that is how it should be, otherwise it would be raw". He obviously thought we were not familiar with the dish. Most restaurants would have taken it back or apologized, but they did nothing. On a brighter note, despite the horrible spaghetti, mediocre service, the lasagna was honestly delicious. read more

Simply great start to our meal. I ordered the lasagna and it was cheesy and creamy which I loved. Nothing like it back in California. On the other hand, my cousin ordered the risotto. I had a taste of it and it was mediocre in my opinion. Just a tip, I don't think Rome is the best place to order anything that has seafood. I can see why there are other reviews that may have been a hit or a miss. I also advise asking other waiters for recommendations, most popular orders or anything you're looking for in particular. I've been to Roma many times and this is my favorite spot in the Termini area. I've seen lots of comments about slow service, the place seems to be crazy busy most of the time, but I had a great experience, seated right away and very attentive waiter. Had to ask for "il conto per favori" (the check please) but that is the norm in Europe. Prices were extremely reasonable and portions were ample. I had an Aperol spritz (€5) that was lovely, ask for extra ice if you like more than a couple cubes, also typical in Europe. I ordered the tortellini Famiglia (meat tortellini with a tomato cream sauce, ham, peas and mushrooms) €8 and the funghi tartufo (truffled mushrooms) €3 which were practically a religious experience! I ordered bread, a €1 charge for 1 person but it was well worth it and easily would feed 2-3 people, they put it in foil for me to take away and I did because it was THAT good as I did with the mushrooms! I must stress the prices are fantastic for the quality and quantity of food. They have some kind of buffet, various antipasti that looked amazing, I was a little intimidated on a first visit but will definitely try it on my next trip. There's also a prix fixe menu for €16 that looked like a ton of food and great quality but be hungry if you're choosing that 3 course epic ;-) Desert menu looked great but no way I could fit that in after such a spectacular dinner! The 4 stars is mainly for the food, since I'm a little confused about the service, so let's start with that. We asked our hotel for a recommendation of good food that isn't going to break the bank. So far, we had only been to mediocre places that we felt catered to tourists but really lacked any flavor and not once had we said "that was A-mazing". We think this place was recommended after us being in the hotel for two days because we built a relationship with the front desk staff and when we arrived to this restaurant it was PACKED and we were the only non-Italian speaking table there, which is when we knew this place was about to kill the flavor game and what we have been waiting to experience in Italy (note: we are one day 5 total, 3 in Venice and now 2 in Rome). When we were sat, they sat us at the only table not set and we didn't see a waiter for roughly 10-12 minutes. As a former server at restaurants in the US myself, I finally closed my menu and slid the menu up the table and that is when he arrived for our order. After we placed our order, the waiter returned with silverware and napkins and quickly set those down and was off again. Towards the end of our meal, the place empties out (it's now about 3:30pm) and when our waiter returned, he noticed my fiancé's shirt from Maui Brewing (I know, super American...) that reads "Hi, I like you" with a palm tree. The waiter loved his shirt and stopped to talk to us about where we are from and a little more about the US and Rome. My confusion with the service is st the beginning; he was probably incredibly busy at the beginning and the guy looked like he had the whole back section to himself, but we watched him be much more personal with other tables so we weren't sure what to make of this. Moving on to the food. THE FOOD! I had yet to get tortellini and ordered with minced meat and red sauce. I also ordered minestrone with pasta and my fiancé ordered an artichoke and salami pizza and an artichoke done Roman style. We made it 4 bites into each dish and were sold. We finally landed in a great Italian food spot! The flavors from each dish were plentiful, the pasta was cooked perfectly, the pizza was delicious and cooked just right and this big artichoke done Roman style? Amazing. I had no idea what this was and what we cut into it and saw the herbs in the center and took our first bite and could taste every flavor, I was blown away and absolutely recommend this dish. The food made us forget about our waiter at the beginning, but maybe he was just so busy? Anyways, the food was outstanding and we already know we'll be back tomorrow. read more
