We ordered the Cedar Feast platter for six, and every dish was outstanding. The meat ghallaba was tender and full of flavor, the lamb chops were juicy and perfectly cooked, and the kabobs and kafta were beautifully seasoned with the perfect char. The wings (soooo good!!!) falafel, fried kibbee, and stuffed grape leaves were all delicious. The hummus was incredibly creamy, the baba ghanoush was wonderfully smoky, and the tabbouli and fattoush were fresh, bright, and flavorful. From the warm, comforting soup to the last bite of the main dishes, everything was absolutely incredible. Truly! The portions- incredible!!! As amazing as the food was, Chelsea made the entire experience even better. She was so warm, friendly, kind, and genuinely welcoming from the moment we arrived. The shawarma plates and chicken sandwiches came out loaded with flavor, and the fresh pita bread arrived warm in a plastic bag. The lentil soup and fattoush salad were hands down the best in the business, and they were complimentary, which immediately won me over. You definitely get your money's worth here. In fact, I needed a personal navigation system just to find my way through the mountain of rice on my plate. The service was top-notch--fast, friendly, and attentive. The staff moved with the kind of speed that makes you wonder if they secretly have rocket boosters attached to their shoes. The only thing keeping this from a 5-star rating is the decor. The interior feels like it hasn't been updated since the mid-90s, and the vibes are strictly retro in a way that wasn't intentional. If they give the dining area a quick facelift to match the quality of the kitchen, this place becomes an absolute 10 out of 10. Solid 4 stars. The veggies were Radish, cucumber and tomatoes. It's not bad, dressing is different than expected. Their big pita bread is fresh and good, soft and billowy too. The hummus, pita and fattoush was out first. The hummus is smooth and tasty. The foul or stewed beans not too bad. It's a tad bland and was just warm, not hot. The half chicken is dry rubbed and you can smell it, it's quite nice. The meat is tender and not dry. Tastes good with the salsa dip. The side salad is the Iraqi salad with pieces of lemon in it, rind and all. Takes some getting used to eating it. The quzi lamb meat was tender, but fatty, but not dry at all. Where do I start? I'm literally so amazed by everything. I went with my family to this restaurant yesterday and after trying sooo many other restaurants in Dearborn (I think we've tried about a hundred) we decided to give this one a try they've been opened for about 5 years now, so I guess they're still new. We walked in and we instantly felt welcomed. The owner and his wife both welcomed us and took us to our table. We were so surprised at seeing different foods on the menu because we usually see the same foods at the other middle eastern restaurants that we've been to in Dearborn. So they suggested some plates for us and we agreed to try them. I WAS SPEECHLESS. The food was AMAZING! It was clean, fresh, amazing, and flawless. Literally smiling right now just by thinking about it. I loved this place so much because they actually care about their customers they actually COOK GOOD food. The owners wife came and checked on us so many times and it felt so good because they actually notice their customers. Three other tables were eating as well and we all got the same amount of attention. They even remember their customers names and faces. They welcomed everyone so well. I felt so comfortable. I would recommend this place to anyone. I'm definitely going to be telling everyone about this place because they deserve so much more recognition. I come to Dearborn once a while and try middle eastern restaurants. I've tried Cederland, Hamido, Al Ameer, and soo many more in Dearborn but they just didnt treat us like Al Chabab did and Al Chababas food was so much better than those place. This one is my number one favorite place to go. Just INCREDIBLE!! Thank you! (The picture that I posted is called Kabab Karaz, I believe. First time trying it and my husband and kids couldn't stop eating it. Of course I ordered a separate one for myself) LOVE IT! read more

Al Chabab is pure magic. From the moment you walk in you feel like you've been welcomed into a warm Syrian home rather than a restaurant. The food is the most authentic Aleppo cooking I've found anywhere in Michigan, every bite carries the soul of the old city. The cherry kabob is unforgettable: tender little kafta balls swimming in that deep, sweet-tart cherry and pomegranate sauce over perfect rice. The Aleppo spicy muhammara is addictive, the fattoush is bright and perfectly dressed, and the mixed grill arrives sizzling and fragrant. Portions are generous, flavors are bold yet balanced, and everything tastes like it was made with real love and patience. The family who runs the place is incredibly kind and attentive. You can feel the pride they take in every dish. This isn't just dinner, it's a genuine experience of Syrian hospitality and heritage right here in Dearborn. If you love true Middle Eastern food, do yourself a favor and come here. Al Chabab is special. read more

I don't know how this place has 5 stars. I took my mom here for the first time a couple of days ago. We ordered the bbq kibbe, 12 falafel pieces, soup, salad and humus. The soup and falafel were cold and the bbq kibbe was cold and nasty tasting. Humus tastes like it's out of a can. Falafel taste like the prepackaged frozen ones from a super market. Service from the waitress was nice, from the owner, not so much. We went there at like 3:45pm. Food came out way too fast for my liking, it's not a fast food place, it's a restaurant. Like everything is frozen and not fresh or old from days ago. I wouldn't recommend this place and I'm definitely not going back again. read more

Kind of surprised they don't get more business given how good the food is here. We got the restaurant week $40 special which basically came with a $40 Combo for Two + a $6 Spicy Potatoes. The combo comes with a variety of items. Pita - Their bake their pita for longer than most other places, resulting in a permanent puff that doesn't flatten. It almost resembles a crusty bread roll. The exterior has a somewhat hard crust but the inside still is moist from steam and retains some of the signature soft and tender pita texture. Toum - Some of the best toum I've had. Very strong garlic flavor, doesn't seem to have much, if any, filler. More of a paste rather than a gel/mayo consistency. A very slight green color like they didn't take out the garlic shoots. It looked like there was maybe a touch of black pepper, but I couldn't taste it. Hummus - Not much I can say except that this is a very good hummus. I think they use a little more tahini than other places. Salad - Very lightly dressed mix of crisp romaine lettuce, red cabbage, cucumbers, onion, and tomato. It's a pretty standard salad you get at most Dearborn Middle Eastern restaurants. Similar to a fattoush but without the fried pita. Main Platter with Rice and Fries, 2x Kafta, 1x Chicken Kabob, 1x Shish Kabob, Deboned/Boneless Chicken, Chicken and Meat Shawarma, various Grilled Veggies - The rice didn't have any almonds or vermicelli but was fluffy and well seasoned. The kabobs were grilled to perfection. The boneless chicken was actually some of the best chicken I have ever had - inside was moist and juicy, outside had the perfect grilled crisp. Kafta was pretty standard. The only real weakness of this platter was the shawarma. Alnawras does not specialize in shawarma and you can tell - both were quite dry and the taste wasn't there. You can get much better shawarma at many other places in Dearborn. The veggies were standard-grilled carrot slices, bell pepper and zucchini. Spicy Potatoes - Lightly fried potatoes with parsley and red pepper flakes and doused with a vinegary hot sauce (Tabasco?). The addition of hot sauce is kind of strange to be honest and really dampens the crispy edge of the fried potato. The potatoes were chopped into all sorts of different sizes, resulting in uneven cooking. I'm not sure if this was special for restaurant week as the menu has a photo of this dish and it looks totally different. Tap water is available at no charge (I only mention this because a lot of the mom and pop restaurants around here only offer bottled water).

Everything was exceptionally fresh, beautifully prepared, and bursting with flavor. I had a wonderful conversation with the owner, who is also from Damascus.
