Tyler, I appreciate the response, but much of it reframes the situation in a way that doesn't reflect what actually occurred. First and foremost, my truck was not damaged while parked in front of the shop--your employee backed it into another parked vehicle. Responsibility was not immediately accepted; it came only after I provided clear photo evidence. I was never proactively informed that the incident occurred, which is a fundamental concern. Characterizing my repair estimates as "unfamiliar" or unverifiable is also misleading. I obtained multiple quotes to properly assess the damage to a brand new truck--something any reasonable customer would do. The claim that updates were consistently provided does not align with my experience. The reason for the repeated calls and in-person visits was a lack of clear and timely communication. Lastly, the system issue was present at pickup. Suggesting it was due to my audio source shifts focus away from the fact that the system was not functioning correctly when delivered. At its core, this situation is simple: my vehicle was damaged while in your care, I was not informed, and resolving it required unnecessary time and effort on my part. I was a long-time customer, which makes this experience especially disappointing--but more importantly, it reflects a level of accountability and communication that others should be aware of before trusting you with their vehicle. read more

I recently went to Al & Ed's to replace my speakers, stereo, and hardwire my dashcam. After getting quotes all over San Diego, they offered the best deal due to a steep discount on parts. I dropped off my car for what was supposed to be a one-day job. When I picked up my car, I immediately noticed a gash along the speaker grills. This wasn't mentioned to me, which should've been a red flag. I pointed it out to Tyler, the Sales Manager, who was understanding. However, the installer tried blaming me, suggesting I had applied something that caused the damage during installation. When I insisted I hadn't, he made a snarky comment about why I picked up the car so early. But no one told me there was a problem when they said my car was ready! I expect my car back in the same condition I left it. Tyler assured me they'd fix it the next day. The next day, I wasn't informed until the end of the day that they couldn't get the dash repair kit in time so they'd need to keep the car. This poor communication continued repeatedly until the end of the week. When I finally got my car back, the damage was still there. They told me I could continue leaving my car for "touch-ups" which would take hours, but it still wouldn't look original. I reluctantly accepted this and took my car home. Not even a weekend goes by before I run into more issues. The dashcam doesn't stay on after the car is off (the whole point of a hardwire kit), and the stereo screen didn't dim when the headlights were on (a feature of the stereo explicitly mentioned in the instruction manual and in the settings). Dreading another week without my car, I called Tyler. He managed to get me in the same day, but multiple installers kept making nonsense excuses. First, they tried to claim the dashcam wasn't working because I didn't turn on the right settings. One of the installers acted shocked that I would even want the dashcam to be constantly recording and joked I'd have a dead battery soon. It was at this point I knew they hadn't read any of the instructions I provided for installing the hardwire kit. In those instructions, there is a simple diagram that shows how to toggle the hardwire so that it cuts off the dashcam after the car battery drops to a certain voltage. It's a simple switch you slide. I tried explaining how it's supposed to be correctly installed and was met with a wall of "We're not touching that or you'll blame us for the battery dying" and "I don't care what you're talking about, I know how to install a hardwire kit". During a heated discussion, I could see they slowly realized their mistake but they didn't admit it. They also suddenly realized that they wouldn't be able to fix it that visit and that I'd have to come back. *melting face emoji* I then brought up the stereo not dimming with the headlights. All of them refuted and claimed that's just the way it works. I would have to manually turn down the brightness every time. One said I should "pay more attention and read the settings more carefully." So I showed them the manual stating otherwise and even asked what was the point of the option labeled "...the display and buttons turn on at this brightness level when the headlights are turned on" if what they were saying was true. Crickets. So on top of taking my car in for no reason, I was being gaslit. I was fed up and didn't want them to work on my car any longer. Early on I made it clear that I'd be seeking a discount if I wasn't satisfied with the repair and Tyler was very understanding. With the disappointing repair, the inconvenience of missing my car for a week, systemic unprofessionalism, lack of communication between employees and customers, and poor workmanship, a discount would be a given. When I finally pursued this, to my surprise, Tyler revealed that they wouldn't provide any discount. He provided $60 out of his pocket, but that was unacceptable. I talked to the store manager and explained what had happened. He had no idea of the ongoing issues and claimed he warned Tyler that my car would be damaged before the installation began. I'm not sure how much truth to that there is. He gave me a $150 discount and walked away. I didn't bother pushing for more, they'd already wasted too much of my time. I would later discover that the steering wheel controls stopped functioning after a day. Instead of bringing it back, I took it to another business. They properly installed the SWC, figured out the stereo was not wired to the headlights (thus not dimming), and uncovered that the dashcam hardwire was wired backward. In an hour, they had the decency to investigate my problem without question and resolved all my issues permanently. TL;DR: Despite the stellar reviews, I had a terrible experience and recommend going elsewhere. The cheaper quote wasn't worth it. Tyler's customer service was the one highlight. read more

I called this business one day just to see what prices will be on speaker system for my Honda CRV. I spoke to Tyler. He said come on and I'll set up a system for you and I will design it and you will be happy. Sure enough I went in and he gave me a great price on quality system with an Alpine Amp and Morel speakers. Tyler and his team of professionals took care of me last March and it's been a year strong since I had my radio replaced in my Subaru. My original radio was due for a replacement since my screen went black and system was completely inoperable. I wasn't sure if getting a brand Subaru OEM was necessary so Tyler helped me determine that and I couldn't be more satisfied with the radio I have now. The experience getting in and out was very pleasant, I received the service I requested, and my problems were fixed with no strings attached! I also have a lifetime warranty to re-visit and have any issues fixed for free in future. $7,000+ stereo install F250 Super Duty Crew Cab 4x4 Initial scheduling was problematic. Despite scheduling 3 weeks in advance after confirming all equipment was in and given the green light to drop off my truck... the truck was not touched for one and half weeks. What should have taken a couple days took a couple weeks. Tyler showed me compact amps that would fit under the driver and passenger seats. He later suggested I upgrade and spend a little more (I'm not afraid to spend money). The amps installed now are under the driver and passenger seat and extended to where the back seat passengers feet go. When I picked up the truck the driver side window did not roll down, passenger window did not roll down, , passenger side cross traffic sensor did not work, passenger side mirror did not work and several fault codes triggered at the dash. I took the truck back the next day and I along with a tech pulled panels off the driver and passenger doors. I/we found a connector not connected and a wire stripped. This corrected the driver side window issue. I scheduled, rescheduled and scheduled again to have the other issues resolved which would include moving the amps under the back seat and locating the issues creating the factory faults, window not rolling down, mirror inoperable and cross traffic sensor inoperable. When I finally got them to look at the truck they only attempted to reset the factory codes (which did not get corrected) and made no attempt to relocate the amps or correct the other issues which from my observation is due to low quality and carelessness. When given several opportunities to correct they/Tyler fell flat on their face. I will now be paying another shop to correct their poor quality install. Side note: equipment i purchased is top tier and performs well. My experience is Tyler is a king of over committing and under delivering. BTW... the shop compensates people for 5 star reviews as I witnessed. read more

Initially, back in 2023 I wrote an honest review pointing out issues that were totally poor in both service and design. Though Al & Eds totally denied everything and took umbrage to what I wrote. I recently had issues with blown speakers and amp and I deigned to go back there with some trepidation. Bottom line, then in 2022, I paid $3000. for a system that did not work and was forced to pay $400 more when I picked up the Slingshot in order to get a working system. That was not right at all. Imagine buying a $3000 fridge but after buying and having it delivered being told that you had to pay another 400 if I wanted the fridge to actually work. Absurd That was then, and this is now, Jan 5th, 2025. This time I was shown what had happened and it necessitated another $1500 to get the blown speaker and amp in order to repair the system. Unfortunately, nothing was still in warrenty. This time, once the parts were delivered to them, they scheduled my picking the Polaris Slingshot up with a 2 day window. On this they met the schedule they gave me without delays on the second day. No problem. The system does sound better and there have been no issues with it. I was told that there were new owners but I see that Jeff was the owner when I wrote the first review. I had no idea that the business had been sold and taken over. If I had known perhaps my initial concerns might have been ameliorated back then. At any rate, I have been perfectly happy with the service I was given since going back and have no complaints. read more

I want to preface my review by saying what I got in the end is what matters, and that it was exactly as requested. My review is based on that and incorporates some things to take into consideration if you're thinking about getting work done here, which I would still recommend, based on the final product. I brought my Tundra to Al & Ed's, the stock system was JBL, as I have a limited model. The sound just wasn't rich and didn't get to the level I like compared to my other vehicles which have a Bose, and Bang & Olfusen, out the factory. I worked with Tyler and let him know I didn't want crazy bass but instead a clearer and louder sound. They added a secondary amp and swapped out the stock speakers to exactly what was needed to really bang the volume. I ended up needing a different package than originally thought, but the end result was just as I requested. Super friendly and helpful staff. The logistics of getting my car in and the right setup had some bumps along the way. That all said, if you're looking for a great end product I would recommend Al & Ed's. My one piece of advice is to understand it may take some time to get to your vehicle completed depending on what you need done and what their workload looks like as over a couple months they seemed to have a steadily full schedule. Schedule around time that work best for you to possibly be without your vehicle for a couple days. You will love the end product!!!! read more
