Instead of just demanding a list of repairs, he gave me actual options and worked with me on the best path forward. No upselling, just honest advice. It's rare to find technicians who don't try to pad the bill. I'll definitely be reaching out to Sam for any future projects. Highly recommended!

Rather than charging me for a battery, they suggested I call AAA for a battery replacement since it was still under warranty and then they would check everything else out to figure out where the problem was. After the battery got swapped it was obvious that it was my alternator. They got it fixed within the day! A couple of months later, my car broke down in the same way it did previously. I called them up to explain the issue again, and had the car towed out to them. I wasn't sure if the fix would be covered under warranty, but once a new alternator was installed, they told me everything was covered and I was good to go. Haven't had any issues with it since. Really appreciate the professionalism, transparency, and cost of the fix and re-fix. Will come back here for any future repairs!

After another repair shop was unable to fix my transmission, I had my vehicle towed to Summit Transmissions. I explained both my urgent need to get back on the road and my financial constraints. They worked quickly to obtain the necessary parts and had me back in my vehicle as soon as possible. Throughout the entire process, I was treated with respect, kindness, and professionalism. Their integrity, quality workmanship, and genuine concern for their customers reflect great credit upon the owner and the entire Summit Transmissions team. So for months and months it was refill the radiator and transmission and cross my fingers! Finally I did some research and decided John's was the place to go! After I dropped her off, I was given a list of other issues she had (a few belts and hoses) which didn't surprise me any given her age! lol! My chassis and internal mechanisms aren't what THEY once were either! Ha! Anyway I told them yes, to go ahead and repair the "must have fixed" issues! She was returned to me in a timely manner and for what I would call an extremely fair price (under $2500) for 3 major repairs, an oil change and even a few new belts and filters! The staff were wonderful with keeping me up to date on how things were going along the way too ...as she's nearly 40 some parts took a minute! Anyway after all these months since I took her in, she's STILL running like a top and even though I check my coolant and transmission fluid regularly, she has never even needed topping off so she's sound as a drum! Their name is accurate; Stress-Free Auto Care is true to their word!…read more I recently dealt with a horrific predatory experience from another local auto shop, and I was recommended to Stress-Free Auto Care to try and resolve the issues perpetuated at the previous shop. Their hours were extremely convenient and I was able to arrive with my car this morning at 8 AM. They were quick, friendly, informative, and beyond efficient. Most of all, they were honest. They thoroughly check the entire car in record time, and took pictures and highly detailed notes of everything they checked and inspected, sending all updates both bad and good over text and email to keep me informed and updated in real-time. They were quickly able to discover that the other shop not only did not do what they said they were going to do or anything I asked, but they never actually did anything whatsoever. Stress-free Auto Care was able to resolve all of the issues in a near-fraction of the time, and for half the cost! They even offered to give us a ride to wherever we needed before they started working on my car to make sure I wasn't stranded there. They have earned a customer for life!

After years of looking for a mechanic and only taking my Subaru to the dealership for all repairs…read moreor maintenance over the life of the car (8 years), I decided to take a chance here. I had a great experience with Alex at Value Auto Repair. I originally reached out through Yelp, and he was responsive and answered all of my questions. His pricing was significantly better than what the dealership quoted me, but what really stood out wasn't just the price--it was his honesty. I came in with a humming noise that I believed was a bad wheel bearing but was unsure. Alex was upfront from the beginning after making the same diagnosis and even encouraged me to get quotes from other mechanics if it made me feel more comfortable so I could make sure I was getting a fair deal. That kind of confidence and transparency is hard to find. When I arrived, he was able to get my car in within about 30 minutes to diagnose it. While the part was being delivered, I went to lunch, and once I came back, he had the wheel bearing replaced in about 45 minutes. Before I left, he took the time to show me both the old and new wheel bearings, explaining how they worked and letting me hear and feel the difference. I really appreciated him taking the time to educate me instead of just handing me a bill. One thing I noticed while I was waiting was how many customers came in who clearly knew Alex. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to see him, several appeared to be repeat customers, and there was an obvious level of trust between them. After my own experience, I completely understand why. Alex also has a great sense of humor, which made the whole experience much less stressful. Most importantly, the humming noise is completely gone, and my car drives perfectly again. If you're looking for an honest, knowledgeable mechanic who charges fair prices and genuinely cares about his customers, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Alex and Value Auto Repair. I know I'll definitely be back.

I did some research and chose Max Auto Service in La Mesa, the owners Roger, head mechanic and his wife Maria that runs the office. I called and Maria is so very professional, knowledgeable and personable that I immediately felt confident in choosing them. My car was towed in, the job was done, no issues and my car ran great. About a month later the serpentine belt came off which caused the car to overheat and for once I didn't have to Google for mechanics. I needed a diagnostic done to see if there was engine damage due to overheating, replace the belt and anything else needed. I called Max Auto Service and Maria got me right in. When I delivered the car, I told Roger that for five years, my car has had a substantial coolant leak, but it has never overheated because I continually was filling the radiator, every single day. You can't imagine how much antifreeze I have gone through in five years. I had taken it to three different shops during those years and none could fix the issue. One quoted me $3,500 just to "look into it". Well the serpentine belt coming off was a blessing in disguise because, Roger had my car for a few days, did the diagnostic, no engine damage, repaired the initial issue AND there is no longer a coolant leak !! It's been three weeks and I haven't had to add any coolant !!! After FIVE YEARS, Roger solved it ! Thank you so much Roger and Maria, you are KEEPERS !!

Upon re-evaluation, they acknowledged that the initial repair did not resolve the root issue. They worked on the vehicle again and ultimately fixed the original problem at no additional charge. I appreciate that they took responsibility and made the effort to correct the situation. While my initial experience was frustrating and felt misleading, I do recognize their willingness to make things right after the fact. I hope moving forward they improve their diagnostic process to prevent similar issues for other customers. Updating my review to reflect both the initial experience and the resolution.
