I decided to try this salon because it was more convenient to where I live and had pretty positive reviews. The first three times I went, they were always busy. However, I never had an appointment and they always got me in quickly. I get acrylic nails and I like them short and natural looking - my natural nails are weak so I just like to cover them with acrylic so they do not break. The first three times, the technicians were fine - they gave me acrylic nails that were thin and natural looking. I have found that all the technicians here tend to use their phones A LOT. One technician was even face timing someone while she started my nails. It seems pretty unprofessional but didn't stop me from coming back since they were doing a good job on my nails.
Yesterday, a Wednesday, I had a bad experience. I arrived at 7 pm, a full hour before their closing time. There were two other women getting their nails done. I needed a full set of new nails. I was told right away to sit down and a man started my nails. I told him I liked them short and natural looking. He cut them VERY long and I had to ask him three different times to make them shorter and they are still not as short as I prefer. Eventually I just said it was fine. He was only cutting them with a nail scissor, which isn't usually what most technicians at this or other salons have used to cut down my nails. The nails turned out so thick that I am going to have to go get them fixed somewhere else. They look completely unnatural and I can't even scratch an itch or pick up a quarter off the table! I usually get regular polish, but this time decided to get shellac to speed up the process. Good thing, because they had already cleaned and turned off all the lights in the half of the salon where the nail drying station was. My full set came to $46 - 26 for the full set and 20 for the gel polish, which I personally thought was ridiculous. I've never paid more than $10 for gel polish on my nails at any other salon. The polish nearly doubled the price. When my nails were finished, I was already unhappy with how they turned out but the kicker for me was that before my technician helped me at the register, he quite literally jogged to the back of the store to get his personal things so he could walk out the door as soon as I did. He clearly couldn't wait to get out of there and go home, which I felt was pretty unprofessional. I've worked in a lot of jobs where my leaving depends on customers leaving so I get it, but this made me feel like he rushed the whole process just to get out of there. After this experience, I feel like I wasted $50, and even more since I'll have to get my nails fixed. I also didn't feel valued as a customer while they cleaned around me and turned off the lights, clearly eager to leave as soon as possible. I'm not sure if I'll be back or not. read more
