One of our favourite place to get sushi party trays. The fish are usually are fresh, and they come with a good quantity for the price. Usually we pre order it in advance for pick up, and usually the trays will be ready. The environment itself has large seating and their take out are straight forward and easy to get to.
We have the AYCE dinner. Food is good. Good selection and good quality. Beef tongue was tough. I can't chew it. The front reception service was bad. They pretty much ignore you for a long time before they acknowledge your existence. I hope the owner addresses this, it really gives a poor first impression, some would have just left. I was guessing some of the staff were not assigned to seat customers but they should acknowledge the customers and tell the customers that someone will be with them shortly. But instead, all the other staff at the front stared at you but did not say anything which was quite rude. Ambiance was fine but when the place was half empty, they had to put us at a table by the front door. When asked to be seated more inside of the restaurant, they said those inside tables were for more ppl. But I saw tables for smaller group. They are just making up excuses or just pure laziness. Overall, food was good but with poor service I am not sure if I would return.
Excellent chicken teriyaki (dark meat) at this location! Generous portion size and well seasoned. The rice was also a good portion. The California roll was good and came with the good wasabi, the better pickled ginger and soy sauce. The Seaweed Salad was also great as are the stir fried veggies. We tried the chicken pad thai which surprisingly came with quite a bit of protein. We were quite impressed by this. Service is quick.
. we came a litttleeee on the later side with a bigger party for walk in, appriciate the amazing service we got - i understand big parties last minute especially for ayce can be annoying . we loooved their little lychee jelly shot dessert 10/10 goooddd palette cleanser too . sushi was good? some prettty interesting rolls? . tempera wasnt a fan favourite . the bater? felt like its been sitting for a while? or maybe just took a little to get to our table . menu was suppperrr vast and lots of options to choose from . interior super nice loved the art on the walls
For a special occasion, my family and I reserved a table for 8 around 5:30 pm. It was a good call on our part, before after our two hour limit at 7:30 pm, the place was PACKED. We got seated in the back, where (I believe) was actually the best seating in the house since we got our own little private corner. This table was a mix of chairs and bench seating, which we liked. Overall, I'd say this was one of the best AYCE experiences I've had in a long time. The quality of the food itself was good and tasty. Things I especially liked were the fried tofu (the sauce was delicious), the cheese wonton (which came out piping hot!), The sashimi pieces (which were very thick and fresh), as well as the handrolls (one of my favorites when it comes to sushi but always too expensive at à la cart so I get it at AYCE). OH, I almost forgot to mention their pork tonkotsu ramen which was on point! It tasted very similar to the ramen you go out for, as it had the same type of noodles and a very creamy, flavorful broth... Just mini-sized! Too cute. The thing I was most pleased with is actually their ordering system. At many other restaurants, we always fall into the issue of big groups surrounding one or two iPads, which made the whole process very tedious. Here, they give you a QR code to scan and connect to their wifi, then another code to scan to reach their ordering system, specific to your table. This meant that everyone was able to connect on their own devices (i.e. phones) to order. This made the process more efficient so you didn't waste your two hours waiting for your turn on the iPad. Following that, the food also came out very quickly. Service was also great. Most (if not all) of the staff were masked, while also providing friendly and efficient service. I appreciate that the servers were very responsive. The price point was quite good I'd say as well. It was $38.95 per adult since it was the weekend, but if you come Monday to Thursday, you can get the AYCE for $35.95. Do note, they also do takeout like their other locations, which I always hear good things about. But yes, this is their only AYCE location. Brief mention, the washroom was small but clean. There were two stalls, one bigger for better access.
Very spacious inside. Not bad decor. Not bad service. Not bad food. Sushi is okay. Their karaage is more like a Taiwanese popcorn chicken. I did, however, loved their skewered cow tongue. Loved the taste and the sauce with it so much that I ordered seconds. The only thing we did not like was having to join their wifi in order to access their menu via QR code. That's not safe and that's not right. So if I did not have a cellular, I wouldn't be able to dine there? Weird. Also, no offence to the folks who live in that area, but Markham Rd. and Sheppard Ave. is quite an unusual region to locate such a sushi 'all-you-can-eat' establishment. When we were finished, I high-tailed it outta there.
This AYCE place is more expensive than other places that offer a lot more options. Food arrives in a good amount of time. Taste is also ok for the items you get. Many times they will get you some things that you order, but also miss a lot of things. The decor was pretty nice inside, very spacious and many seating. Service is also ok. I don't think I will return here. I will go to other places with more options of items, this place had too many rice items and noodle items compared to other AYCE places.
This is my second time ordering takeout from Ai Sushi and I'll continue to go back to this place. The restaurant was pleasant and had a lot of space, and their service was fast. I ordered the Saba Sashimi and Alaska Sushi. Their portions are big which was very nice. (1) The Alaska Sushi had a balance of savoury and sweet. It had a crunchy texture from the cucumber as well. I wish there was more smoked salmon as the creaminess of the crab overpowers the smokey flavour. (2) It's my first time trying Saba Sashimi and I was impressed. It wasn't fishy as other people have told me before. It was flavourful with the notes from the vinegar marinade and umami. P.S. They only accept cash or debit.
I've always only ordered the platters to go, but this time I enjoyed AYCE dinner with some friends. I did not bring my toddler, but it was spacious enough that I feel it safe to bring children to dine in. Food: 5/5 - The sushi and cooked foods were superb! The sashimi was thick cut as I'm accustomed to from their platters. - Their mango yogurt dessert could have used more mango, as ours only had a small dot of it. I've had places fill the whole top layer with it, but we did order a lot of them. Service: 5/5 - Order via QR code after signing into their connection, limit 2 devices to order from, but I believe no limit on devices that scan to view the menu. - They thoughtfully provided a bottle of hand sanitizer for patrons to use at each table during these covid times. - I got a green tea and the teacup was leaking, but that was quickly rectified and they considerately brought more napkins without my asking. Environment: 3/5 - The washroom was clean but did not have paper towels (I believe there was a blow dryer), and I generally like to open the door with the paper towel after drying. - Occasionally throughout our dining experience, I believe they were mopping around tables near us, the cleaning agent smelled very strong but fortunately dissipated relatively quickly.
My family always orders their platters for takeout. It's the best around, big portions and pretty good quality. There's been a couple times service wasn't the best, both front staff and sushi chefs. My takeaway is to always order for pick-up earlier than when you're actually picking up because they're not always consistent.
My partner and I were came here to buy some time for the movie we paid to go watch later on. We were going to go in for a la carte but decided on AYCE right at that moment when the host asked us. When the sashimi came out, we were very surprised with how thick the cuts of the fish were, they were as thick as my finger (I took a photo as well to show the audience haha). Sushi was fresh, made in good portions and was overall tasty. Service was prompt, people were actively bringing us food while taking our finished plates. Maybe this place is one of my top locations for sushi, too. Not a bad decision to come here at all, I would for sure come back and bring my family for them to try!
AiSushi hits the sushi cravings spot for a reasonable price. Though typically an AYCE restaurant, their sushi is pretty good. We got a mixed platter. All the fish was fresh. Sushi rice was decently formed and well seasoned. The salmon was quite soft. I like that you get raw scallop which is not typical for most sushi platters. The scallop is quite fresh and tasty as well. Rolls as well formed, and seasoned as applicable. Ingredients inside are tasty and work together. Price: Pretty reasonable for a platter, probably the best value by quantity and quality per dollar. AiSushi is definitely a place to go to if you're craving sushi at a good price.
One of my new favourite go to places for take out and dine in. They're sushi is very fresh almost a melt in your mouth type of texture and is flavourful filling. AYCE dine in, they were very welcoming and service was quick. Lots of sushi and variety of things to eat. The sashimi variety could be better but not a lot of people carry herring, so if they had that it would be a big plus for me. Definitely worth every penny ! read more

Was looking to fill my sushi craving so we picked up a party platter from AiSushi on an unusually hot autumn day. Only 36 dollars for 40 pieces of sushi and sashimi? That's a deal! Our order was ready for us at the pick up time we selected. I believe it's cash only for the platters. They gave us thick cuts of sashimi and the fish tasted very fresh. I'd come back to dine in and try the bento boxes on the menu. It's a bit far from where I am but I'd recommend trying this place out if you're in the area! read more
This review is solely for their a-la-carte service. I'm glad that they've opened a more spacious location with dine-in seating! Over the last few months, I've been having the Deluxe Kaisendon quite often at Ai Sushi's other locations (out of convenience) but I've noticed that this location always provides slightly larger portions. The quality is always consistent and I think that's key when it comes to raw seafood. For the times I've dined in, service was always attentive and I have no complaints. I would gladly pick this Ai Sushi over the other locations if I were equidistant from all of the locations. read more

There is no better sushi for takeout in the city than Ai Sushi! I love coming here to grab sushi because everything is so extremely fresh and you can taste it in the quality of their food. Not to mention this also a bang for you buck! For 40pcs of sashimi and sushi it is only $36! That is a steal and the pieces of sashimi is always so huge! The flavours of their rolls and rice are nope notch for the price point it is at. I wish they would open up more locations because I am a life long patron! read more

This is my families go to takeout sushi spot. Have been getting sushi from here several times. They have multiple locations as well. Their sashimi is fresh and there is a lot of sashimi in the rolls as well. The price is great for the amount that you get. read more
This location still needs work! I normally order take out from the Richmond hill location so when I heard they opened a new store in Scarborough and they were giving out VIP card, I had to visit. Upon walking in, it seems very spacious and has a good atmosphere for sit downs. The employees was nice and welcoming. I had placed an order for 60 pieces with rolls, sashimi, and sushi and another platter of 40 rolls in the afternoon and told the employee I will pick up at 5:30. When I walked in at 5:30 my food was not ready. But I didn't have to wait too long. The employees were very apologetic even though I didn't mind waiting. When paying, I had to ask for the VIP card. It was not offered to me. I also asked for 2 since I wanted my boyfriend to get one as well, so when he picks up food he can get the discount. I didn't think this would be such a big deal, considering I got 2 platters and it added up to around $70. The employee was very hesitant and said she can only give me 2 cards if I paid separately. I'm not quiet sure what difference that made but I didn't argue and just awkwardly said ok? Sure? Also, FYI you can't use the card for this visit. You get the VIP when you pay cash and can only use it in the future. Odd. Anyway, I was so excited for the sushi as I always had good experience from the Richmond hill location. But I was sadly disappointed. The sushi rice was so mushy. Did not look good, did not taste good. The fish was fine. But even some of the avocado pieces were not ripe yet and they used. I did also get a separate box on sushi rice and it was fine and not at all mushy, so I think it's the sushi chef that messed up? Or they gave me a different batch of rice. Also, when I asked for more ginger they gave me ones in the tiny containers. Regardless if they improve or not, unless I am in the area, I won't be coming back here to order take out. I would give this place 3.5 stars. I ordered a few party trays to a dinner. 80pcs of sashimi $80 - there was a good variety of sashimi but I found the sashimi wasn't cut properly. There was some toro pieces that were very thick and chewy. Because toro is super fatty, extra care needs to be taken when cutting it - so the taste isn't overwhelming. The fish was very 'veiny' and make it hard to eat. The botan shrimp was good, but didn't taste that fresh. The best sashimi was probably the salmon sashimi, scallop, red tuna, and the herring fish. 80pcs roll set $48 - standard tasting as well. Tasted like supermarket sushi without much variety. All the rolls in the tray had the same elements (avocado, salmon, cucumber etc) I got bored eating it after a while. It also felt a little cheap because there wasn't a substantial amount of sushi that came with the rice. It felt like they were trying to make the sushi as small as possible to save money. We also ordered a side of spicy scallop sushi for $5.99 and it was soo tiny. Not worth it. Overall, I rather order from other sushi places. This place seems cheap in terms pricing but you don't really get a good bang for your buck. read more
Reason for Visit: Heard about their new location and their VIP 10% card promo. As a foodie in significant debt, this visit was absolutely needed. Menu: Same as other locations. My go to item is their 40 pieces assorted for $30. This is perfect for 2 people. Sushi is freshly made, fish was decent. This is definitely not the highest quality, but honestly, with this price, you ain't getting any better. Service: Got their take out so really don't need much service. Everything seemed pretty reasonable, cashier was polite and spoke Cantonese/ English. Food was prepared on time. Atmosphere: Very nicely renovated. Much fancier than the other 2 locations. Overall: From what I and other Yelpers see so far, I think the quality is definitely probably better at the other locations. I think it is simply because they are still hiring and training new staff. Anyhow, bottom line is Ai Sushi is definitely my go to sushi take out place. You really aren't beating the price with the quality you are getting. This is the place to go to if you need to pick up a tray for a party or just for a sushi meal that won't bankrupt you. read more

Ordered the Ai Roll at this location and it was made with half the amount of crab meat and was drowning in tempura bits. All the other locations put lots of crab meat and don't add tempura bits. When challenged, the staff said the bits are on the menu. After pulling a menu out and proving them wrong, they proceeded to backpedal and say it was added for crispness. I've ordered the Ai Roll multiple times from Richmond Hill and Markham and no "crispy" bits were added. They then said they just do it differently at this location and to tell them next time if I don't want it. Very disappointed in the lack of consistency at this location. Won't be going back to this location because of the poor service, cheaping out on the crab meat, and if they're willing to cut corners by blatantly filling a roll that's not supposed to have tempura bits with tempura bits, I can't be sure sure what else things they're doing wrong. read more

Everybody in Markham knows that the Ai Sushi Markham location is known for its high quality and affordable price. Seeing the Scarborough location being it's newest addition to their growing franchise, we'd figure we give it a shot, expecting nothing less than good quality. (And plus, they are giving out a free VIP card for purchases over $30 - this will save me a LOT of money in the future). We got a 40 pieces sushi+sashimi platter to go. I think my 2/5 star rating says it all about our disappointment with our purchase. I'm no sushi expert but the roll looks like the work of a sushi apprentice first day on the job. The sashimi doesn't look fresh, and sushi rice looks soggy. Will I go back to Ai sushi ? Of course! But certainly not this location. read more
I have been to both location in Markham and Richmond Hill and I was never as disappointed as I was today. I decided to try cooked food and ordered a Chicken Green Curry at this Scarborough location. I went back to work looking forward to enjoy my food before a meeting. I opened it up and almost wanted to throw up. The green curry was green of course.. but it looked so disgusting.. it looked like the green slime my kids experience with. I could not even try one bite as it looked.. not edible. I am not sure what kind of food colouring /green curry they used. But I don't have time to bring it back and ask for something else or even get a refund . One of the best sushi in Scarborough and it's highly recommended by my Japanese friends. We came here for all you can eat menu. The restaurant practice safety protocols. Each table have sanitizer. All staff wears mask. The service is quick. It's a cute place located in a small plaza of sheppard and markham. Lots of parking. You order the items in your phone, they provide the wifi and it will connect to their food selection. read more

I've been to the two locations in Richmond Hill and Markham previously. I have enjoyed the food at both of those locations. Naturally when the Scarborough location open I decided to check it out and see how they're doing. I really like that this particular restaurant does have a dining area versus the previous two locations. They also have a section on the other side for people who are getting takeout and would like to eat or to take home. With the dine in option you can still order the restaurant party platters. We ended up ordering 100 PC of sushi sashimi and maki, the Ai roll, chicken skewers, enoki mushroom beef roll and also the Japanese fried udon with chicken. Skewers were nice and delicious. The Ai roll I felt was a bit large but packed with a lot of salmon so seemed a bit hard to eat but it was still good. The party platter tray was still good and nicely presented. One thing I did notice was the sushi rice was just a little under seasoned in terms of the vinegar taste. I had just picked up a 60 PC earlier on Wednesday and that takeout tray was excellent - the rice was great so I think it was just this time. I know they are still ironing out the kinks so I'm sure that won't be an issue as they get used to running things. I really liked the fried udon, the sauce as not too much and nicely coated the noodles and the taste was really great. Otherwise service was good. Really enjoyed the hot food and would love to come back and try their pad Thai and curry! They also have bento boxes and prices are really reasonable. I typically get take out from the Richmond Hill and Markham location. I absolutely love those locations so I decided to drop by this new location. The decoration is really nice and the space is more larger compared to their other two locations. The portions and the quality of the food isn't the same. The portions were smaller and I found that the taste wasn't at all what I had expected from their other locations. Unfortunately this experience was very disappointing for me. read more

So glad that they finally opened a location closer to home! The atmosphere inside is so pretty and all the staff are super friendly. I ordered their party Tray 706. Comes with 60 pieces of sushi, sashimi, and rolls. I ordered it after work on Friday and it was ready within 15 minutes. The one thing you need to know about their party trays is that you need to pay cash for it.... Not really sure why as you don't save tax. I've always been a huge fan of AI sushi, but the one thing I've noticed is that quality of the items seems to be rushed lately. The rice doesn't seem to be as intact as it use to be and there were times when you pick up one of the sushi or rolls and the rice just collapse. Other then that I'd definitely recommend anyone to come try our this place because they are still one of the best and most economical sushi places around (you can tell how much I love this place because I forgot to take my picture before digging in). read more

Not sure how to feel about this...but my partner and I were craving for sushi and first tried ordering a platter for takeout from the Markham location around 3:15pm but was told we could not pick up until 6:30pm without any reason when we asked to confirm. Change of plans, we ordered from the Scarborough location instead and a polite girl picked up and took our order along with our name and number. We told her we were on our way (15-20mins) and she stressed it was cash only (plus tax). We ordered #706 mixed platter with 50 pieces and the total came to $47.45. We arrived about 30 mins after our call to be met with confusion. Turns out nobody took our order and we confirmed the phone number which was theirs. The place was empty. We paid and was told to wait about 10 minutes along with an apology. When we finally got our platter, it was cold as if it's been sitting in the fridge a long time. So confused. Quality: The rice was hard and cold...but the rolls were very good. The red snapper was not fresh and was discoloring and mushy but did not have a weird taste. The rest of the sashimi was good. Honestly just food wise would've been 3.5 stars for the price if it wasn't so cold. The whole experience brought it down to 2-2.5 stars. read more

Ordered #706 - 60pc. It was good! Definitely will be coming back again. To get an idea of how good/comparison.. we usually order sushi trays from roll n bowl / wow sushi / niji. This place will likely be our #2 go-to with roll n bowl being #1. Paid cash and they charged tax on the sushi tray so we ended up paying ~$47. Which I thought was a bit odd bc usually when I go to other places they don't do that and actually offer a 10-15% discount if u pay cash. As others yelpers have mentioned they have a 10% VIP discount card. They don't just give it out, you gotta ask for it. read more
The sushi at this location is reasonably priced, and well prepared. We also tried some of the fried noodle and rice dishes, but I would definitely stick to the sushi. You can call ahead, but we didn't have to wait long for our order. We're looking forward to when restaurants can open up, so we can try their AYCE! Cash and debit are accepted, except for the sushi platters. They have four locations: Scarborough, Markham, Richmond Hill and Brampton. read more

The latest branch of the Ai Sushi empire, this time as more of a sit down concept. Same general idea though: cheap and photogenic deluxe kaisendons and chirashi, affordable platters for parties, this time with a snazzy interior. They also have a lot of random menu items like Pad Thai / lamb skewers that I feel takes away from their actual offering but maybe they're trying to widen their net for a new customer base. Compared to the other locations the seafood is of a similar quality but they need to fix their sushi rice which is not quite as flavourful as the other two locations. I will say it's one of the best bang for your buck sushi places in the area and I hope they just stick to the concept that has worked for them in the past. read more
Ai Sushi is my go-to sushi platter place. They always offer fresh and delicious sushi, you name it! And affordable of course. We usually got the medium platter, but now go big or go home! 100pcs for $62 (+10% cash discounts too). I always prefer salmon, and I'd ask to substitute tuna to salmon, no additional charge. read more

The worst Uni sushi in the GTA, it's not my first time ordering from Ai Sushi but this time I ordered a platter with two pieces uni sushi, when we got there, they placed an order for 4 pieces uni sushi instead which was fine for us then when we got home, we opened it and saw the brown looking uni that is obviously not fresh and went bad, I can't believe they still give this type of bad quality sushi out for customer! Avoid this place if you don't want to get stomach problem read more

Wen this this sushi place, the service was great, but the food was just ok. It's pretty standard place and it's got really standar sushi items on the menu. The desserts were also just ok. The salmon sashimi was thick cut, we also ordered shrimp skewers which was tasty, some octopus skewers also good, we enjoyed the skewers in general. The eggplant pizza was just amazing. I think I would go here for this dish alone. It didn't matter which one you ordered they were both good. The ribs were particularly unenjoyable, they were thick cut and very fatty pieces of meat... the tempura were just like any other sushi house, but I really enjoyed the crab meat tempura, it was a little more fun because they opened up one end like a cheese string and fried it. The desserts I was really disappointed with. The once cream was pre scooped. Which means the top of the scoop was frozen and so were the sides Becuase they were melted slightly before being refrozen. This is a little sad that we can't have freshly scooped ice cream. The fried bananas weren't ripe... so they weren't really sweet like you would expect the dessert to be. We also tried to sweet potato cake, you might want to skip this dish as well. The food selection really is nothing impressive. Just a standard sushi house, and a little more expensive than what I would like to pay for their quality of food. read more

We always go to Ai sushi because we love it. The fish is so fresh and the price is unbeatable. You really get great value. But this time we ordered take out for our son's birthday because my hubby and I had to work this Sunday and we just wanted something convenient. And it's something my son loves. Unfortunately we made a big mistake. We ordered a 80 pieces sushi platter and 2 orders of mango tango. I don't know what's going on but we've ordered this over a dozen of times. We've never had a problem until now. Everything looked great except for the long strand of hair smack dabbed in the middle of the party tray. Ugh. Gross. Not cool. Especially since this was supposed to be a special treat for my 11 year old son. We called right away to tell them. All they could advise us to do was return it for an exchange. They didn't even offer to expedite the order. They didn't offer anything for this inconvenience. This was at 7 pm. We were all waiting for this all day and drooling... only to have to return and wait another f'ing 30 minutes!!! Not acceptable. We go out of our way, 6.5 km, at least 1-2 times a month. And when my husband got there , he waited patiently in the long line of customers. He wasn't rude and he was actually quite polite. But the hostess other other hand did not go out her way to sympathize or to even look sorry. She didn't greet him or apologize. She just immediately asked "where's the hair" as soon as my husband told her why he was there. As if she didn't believe!!! Why would we go to all this trouble???? They gave us a free seaweed salad. Not even full. But that wasn't the reason why we returned the platter. it was disgusting! Hair contains microbes. It is unsanitary and unhealthy to eat food that Is contaminated with someone else's hair. And why would we just throw out 80 pieces of sushi without exchanging it? Would you? They acted like it was an inconvenience for them! We are loyal customers. But obviously ai sushi doesn't go out of their way for their customers. So disappointed. We might just start having to spend a little extra more money to stay closer to home and start ordering from Azumi or Sail. read more

My friend recommended this place so I am willing to try everything once. I went to the Markham and Sheppard location. I ordered Deluxe Chirashidon ($17.99). It was pretty good and I checked all the pieces to make sure it was fresh (read some reviews so took extra precautions). The staff is friendly and courteous. Has anyone been able to identify all the fish in the platter? I'm trying to name the fish but the platter does not list all the types of fish in it. Had sashimi from the platter and I'm trying to identify the fish. Looked at the menu (again) but can't find the fish by name in the a la carte sashimi menu. I looked up photos of each fish identified by name (there are less than 10) and haven't been able to identify this yet. If anyone knows what this is, let me know? It looks like maguro / tuna but it's not. It's a very light pink. It's not hamachi / yellowtail either. Wondering if anyone has had any kind of stomach discomfort from this? read more

While AiSushi was well-known for its satellite locations specializing in takeout sushi, folks will be happy to know that it has finally opened a formal sitdown location. The interior decor is very elegant with a strong East Asian motif. The new makeover may be fancy, but their affordable prices and quality have not changed. In addition to their regular menu, the location also offers an AYCE for those looking to have their fill of sushi. Personally, I ordered à la carte at the time but will definitely consider coming back for AYCE in the future. read more
