This is my go-to sushi place when I'm craving sushi but want something quick! The location is right by a major intersection so there's easy access and lots of parking. The pricing is fairly cheap for the quality of sushi which I love! I always get the 12 piece maki set which is more than enough for one person. Only downside is that they only accept cash for any sets but there's a CIBC in the same plaza so you can always just run across to grab cash. They do accept debit for any other orders. You order at the front & can sit down inside to eat your meal or just grab to go. My orders usually don't take longer than 5 mins to make so they are very quick! read more

I placed a party tray order from here for Thanksgiving weekend about a week in advance. They were super nice and you pay when you come to pick it up. On the day I came, I was given a 30 piece as opposed to the 50 piece I ordered. Now, I wasn't charged for the 50 piece so this leads me to believe this was a genuine mistake or miscommunication. However, I've read other reviews where this has happened to other people as well. Nothing was wrong with the sushi and everything tasted fine, but just something to keep in mind when ordering party trays! read more

Worse AYCE ever!!!! I am a regular customer at the Markham branch but decided to try their AYCE at their Scarborough location. Selection/quality of sashimi is poor compare to any other AYCE. They charge $2 extra for weekend but the menu is the same for weekdays. read more

Ordered the 50 piece sashimi tray for dine in. I was hoping for hamachi like I saw in some of the pictures, but unfortunately there wasn't any. There was a decent variety but probably a little too much salmon. Tea was a dollar for a pot with a teabag. Isn't tea usually free at a Japanese restaurant? Overall, decent food for decent prices. Quality: 7/10. Service: 7/10. Value: 7/10. Overall: 7/10 (Not an average). Low carb friendly? Somewhat. If you stick with sashimi, you're probably good. Came here with a friend of mine for lunch. Due to COVID-19 we weren't able to sit inside at the time. Got the unagi bowl, where they give you two large strips of eel and some other simple vegetables. The bowl is relatively large, can definitely feed two people. The price was very reasonable and the taste was very fresh. Would come back here again some day to try their sushi. read more

After having had pleasant experiences with their party trays on numerous occasions throughout the lockdown last year, I decided to try out the dine-in AYCE dinner here. Prefacing this as a semi-frequent patron of various other AYCE joints in the past (probably every 2-3 weeks), I must say this was one of the worst experiences I've had. They've purposely set the AC to an unbearably low temperature as a means of getting their customers to eat less and finish their meal faster. I overheard the table beside us also commenting about the cold midway through their meal. The food also came to our table extremely slowly compared to any other AYCE place. This was especially surprising given that the restaurant only seated around 4-5 other tables and was not even at 50% capacity on that night. It must've taken upwards of 45 minutes for our entire first round of ordering to be fulfilled. Little did I know, this was all was the least of my worries. Upon initial tasting of the sashimi, there was nothing out of the ordinary. By the second platter, I was starting to quickly feel very sick and ended up throwing up in the restaurant. To add insult to injury, I was questioned by the staff as to whether this was my first time eating raw food. I cannot ascertain the cause of this whole incident to the quality of the food, the unbearably cold dining environment, or a combination of both. I did also notice that none of the sashimi was served on ice, like it typically would be at places like Matsuda, Ichiban, or other similar places, which leads me to question the quality of the food being served for their AYCE patrons vs. a la carte takeout. Regardless, I will definitely not be returning and urge others to look elsewhere for their sushi cravings. read more

I usually go to the AiSushi that's in Markham but for the last few times, I've been going to this Scarborough location and they are busy! I never tried their AYCE but only been ordering take out. In order to get the 10% off, you have to tell them on the phone you're paying in cash as well as remind them when you're at the till. I didn't give 5 stars because of the wait time. Every time I call and tell them a time, I always have to wait an extra 5-10 mins to get my order. But overall, definitely a good sushi place. read more

If you call to order beforehand, don't expect your food to be ready at the time of pick up. We ordered at 2PM in the afternoon for dinner time pick up 730PM and the order wasn't ready until after 830PM. You should expect a line up, and orders are filled on first come first serve (in store) regardless of if you called or walked in. During my visit, a lady ordered after me for 8PM but was able to get her order before. We waited for an hour at the store. Very disappointed in the organization of the staff. Food is decent but I hate their cleanliness. They close at 10pm but they already started sweeping the floor while you're eating way before 9pm. It's disgusting. All the debris and dust flying around while you're still eating. If they close at 10pm, sweep the floor at 10pm, not 8:45. Very disgusted and forcing your customers to leave before they're done. One of the best AYCE sushi places in Toronto. The salmon pieces were thick cuts. The rolls were delicious. They even offer AAA steaks and for dessert the have black sesame ice cream which I haven't seen before. Well worth the price. The only negative is they don't offer an iPad for you to order you have to scan the QR code. This is a negative when you are from the states and don't have internet connection. How r we suppose to order then? They need to offer an iPad for us out of towners or a paper sheet to order. read more

New location in the same plaza as Markham Station. Ordered the beef steak Bento and beef rib Bento. Came with rice, soup, salad, vegetables, 3 pieces sushi roll (imitation crab) and 3 pieces of nigiri (salmon, shrimp and some type of fish). The beef steak was good. The beef rib was really tender. No need to chew at all. The vegetables were a little too salty. Had to wait about 30 minutes for my food but that was ok because they opened 3 days ago and was understaffed. Mile ( I think that's his name and the owner) was very nice and friendly. Currently, if you pay cash, you get a VIP card that that'll give you 10% off at all 3 locations and no expiration. Pretty bad Chinese-owner style/quality sushi. I ordered the Shrimp Tempura Udon and Red Dragon Roll, the fish on the roll were obviously frozen because the entire roll came out freezing cold. The shrimp tempura was okay, but the udon was terrible. It had no taste in the broth, and came with sad wilted seaweed and toppings that are seen in typical cheap sushi places. I noticed a new sushi location in the food basics plaza at Markham & Sheppard and thought to give it a try. The inside of the restaurant looks amazing and you have friendly staff greeting you at the front. I ordered four rolls (3 house rolls and 1 maki set): Black dragon, green dragon, spicy salmon maki, and a futomaki sushi roll. Sadly, the house rolls come in 4 pieces but their price does reflect that where a house roll will be either $4.99 or $5.99. With that in mind on a day where I didn't have lunch is main reason why I ordered 4 rolls after work. The rolls were very average and they did not taste bad at all, in fact the green dragon roll was great. I left the restaurant paying $23 and some change for take out, I guess it's not bad for four rolls. Based on my experiences with other sushi restaurants, I've received a soup and salad combo or even just a soup or salad on its own along with my sushi orders. Unfortunately, no soup or salad come with your sushi orders here (at least from my experience). I would come back as I had no issues but at the same time it's not the best sushi experience that I've had. If you like sushi, give this place a try. read more

But definitely don't come in expecting very fresh sashimi. The rice at this location was also disappointing and the sashimi was generally blend. Ai sushi (other locations) has always been my fav for donburi. First time here, walked in and was impressed by size and decor. After being seated was greeted with poor service. Ordered sashimi platter, house roll and a donburi. The sashimi was definitely not fresh and looked discoloured. The doburi was below their standards, rice was off. The house roll was decent. The cooked dishes stand out and are done quite well for an AYCE restaurant. Favourites include the Alaska roll, pad see ew, chicken cartilege skewers, seaweed mix salad (kind of like a Cole slaw mixed with seaweed), garlic beef, broccoli, ramen, and the black sesame ice cream. read more

Holy CRAP, what a dreadful place. I and my boyfriend ordered assorted sashimi, only some tiny paper-thin pieces of fish for 16 dollars! For the bbq eel sushi the portion size was INFINITESIMAL! We also ordered the Thai stir fried beef and vegetables, just a thin layer of things lying on a flat plate, the amount of content of the dish was less than the amount of sauce.
