I'm pretty low maintenance and don't get my nails done very often. When I do, I just get a solid color gel over my real nail. This was a terrible experience. The technician was so rushed that she didn't wait for the gel to dry before she applied the next coat, so several of my fingers had bubbles. She even had to redo my thumb because it was so bubbled up that you could just wipe off the gel after the last coat and then she said it was my fault because I didn't turn my thumb enough in the light. Within the next week, the topcoat peeled off most of my fingers. She also didn't file or shape any of my nails. It was a very disappointing experience. read more

I went in to get my nails done and the experience was terrible from start to finish. I was overcharged, and the technician rushed through the entire appointment. The drill she used was burning me. She kept getting up every couple of minutes, and the overall application was sloppy, the paint job was awful, and she blew my cuticles. My friend also got her nails done, and several of hers broke off just two days later. Even worse, I woke up with a sore finger that turned into an infection, which makes me believe unsanitary tools were used. What makes this even more upsetting is that the salon offered no refund, no compassion, and no accountability for what happened. I highly recommend staying far away from this salon. read more

This was honestly one of the worst nail experiences I've ever had. The tech was extremely rough and clearly didn't take any care in what she was doing. She cut my nails so short that part of my nail bed is literally exposed ,it's painful, looks terrible and is bleeding! The whole service felt rushed and sloppy. There's gel stuck all over the sides of my nails, and it started peeling off the same day because I was trying to clean up the mess myself. Got my nails done this past week. The salon is very clean. Was very pleased with my pedicure. However, my manicurist had a large wart on her finger. She was not wearing gloves and did not have a bandaid on it. Warts are spread from skin to skin contact. I called the salon to notify them after my service. I have been coming to Ahwautukee Nail Spa for almost 17 years. I have tried salons that are closer to me when I have been in a hurry, it has never been worth it. Their service is consistently wonderful. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. Whenever I have had an issue (broken/chipped nail in between fills) they are always very accommodating and quickly take care of my situation and get me on my way. I actually meant to go to a different salon. The salon I saw online had kids chairs. This place did not. This place was pricey in my opinion. My 6 year old got her nails and feet done. It took her less than 10 minutes to do that. No massage. No scrubbing. I got my feet done. It cost $65. That seems pricey to me. And they didn't have kids chairs. But,,,, the place is really nice. Had the worst mani and pedi in any salon ever. My manicure was going ok until the nail tech did not address my hang nail she just worked around it. Then to the pedicure. I informed her that I have issues with ingrown nails on my big toes. Well she not only butchered my one toenail but she ripped the skin off of my right big to to the point where I can't even put slippers on. It's going to take a week to wear a shoe on that foot. Don't go to this salon. When I complained the owner charged me for the pedicure and the handed me a $10.00 gift card. What a joke. I had a really bad experience at this nail salon. They're overpriced and the quality is subpar. I asked for ombré dip, the woman who started them clearly had no idea what she was doing. It took her two hours and during I kept saying it was okay and we could do a solid color. She insisted we keep going. I thought maybe she was seeing something I wasn't. When she finished they were so bad, she even admitted it. So she passed me off to I'm assuming the manager, who did my nails a solid color in fifteen minutes and they look bumpy, there's stuff underneath, she missed the side of my nail completely. She did give me a ten dollar gift card, which doesn't compensate the time or the nails. ‍I got a pedicure which looks nice, although it wasn't the color I picked. Had nails done 4 days before one cracked so I went back to get it fixed. I've never had anyone charge for a broken nail within a week. When it was done I wanted to tip $5 but gave her $20 and asked for $15 back. She said since they fixed the nail and repainted the others that I owed $20 so she just kept the bill. The salon is clean, the staff is friendly, the nail technicians are experienced. They also do waxing. I have been coming here for years. The owner was once just the new girl and ended up buying it from the previous owner. She works endless hours and try's very hard to please her staff and her clients. Absolutely disappointed!!! I should have turned and left after I walked in and saw the poor selection of colors. But, figured if give it a chance. Was never asked what type of pedicure I wanted, and it was all over so fast! Yet, charged me the higher price. I even got kicked out of my chair before toes were even half dry. They kept trying to put my sandals on. I kept saying no, toes are still wet (since finished like 3 min earlier) and the sandals I had would hit the nail because of the style. Can't be avoided. Finally, they gave up and told me "next time, you need to wear shoes you can go home with wet nails". Seriously!?!? And take a look at the pic. $30 for pedicure with callus remover. I came at 5pm on a Sunday and wasn't sure they were still open or had availability to do a pedi, but they got me in right away. Nice!! My massage chair wasn't working very well and didn't massage my whole back. That is my favorite part of a pedi so I was disappointed. My nail lady was decent but not the best. She wasn't very chatty so I mostly sat in silence while she did my nails. They looked good and my heels were very smooth after the callus remover. Sadly, less than 48 hours later and the polish on two of my toenails already chipped! 3 stars for ambiance, 3 stars for staff, 5 stars for convenience. read more

I asked for a refill on my set but instead they gave me a full set without me asking, and when I asked the technician to redo my nails, I was given attitude and rushed my design. Totally see why this place had such great reviews! The place was very clean (front area, restrooms, sinks) and had a very salon-like atmosphere, as opposed to cheesy corner nail spot... It really was beautiful inside :) Stella did my gel pedicure and she was fantastic! I don't feel like she rushed the massage or callus remover- and it was comfortable. Not once did I have to awkwardly hold my feet up, etc. She did a great job filing and buffing, and not once did I flinch like I normally do (bc of technicians not caring or noticing that they're being rough with people's toes)! Horrible customer service. I came in for a color change. They were rude and rushing me. They thought I couldn't afford gel, so they gave me regular????? They lady who was doing my nails wore a green crystal necklace. She was so mean and kept pulling my hands aggressively. Maybe it's because I'm black, or maybe she just has a horrible attitude. I always my stylists & techs, they told me in order to tip I had to do it before I paid??? Like what? And then I told her I don't tip in cash and she rolled her eyes at me.
