I am frequently stopped and asked who does my color and cut and I am happy to tell them about AFH salon. I have been going to see Annie for at least 10 years and she is truly amazing as are all the stylists at AFH salon. Everyone is so professional, they listen to what you want and work with you to make sure you have an amazing outcome. I am now in the process of transitioning from red hair to gray which is no easy feat! Annie mapped out a plan to make sure I'd look fantastic throughout it all while keeping my hair healthy. As others have said, this is a warm, friendly place. No attitude here. Their goal is to make sure you walk out happy and feeling great about yourself. This review should have been written months ago, but as I am not much of a "yelper" I figure it was better late than never. This place is absolutely lovely and Madison is my favorite hair stylist I have ever had! Being a somewhat picky blonde I spent awhile searching for salons before settling on this one. Her prices are reasonable, she is very sweet and is an excellent listener. We talked at length about what I wanted (originally I thought I wanted to do a bleach and tone but after realizing how much maintenance it would be we went with a heavy foil). Wonderful! I booked an appointment with Theresa and could not be more happy. From the get go, reception was super friendly and nice. When I met Theresa, she was warm, welcoming and extremely insightful. I told her what I wanted and she told me exactly how to make the haircut happen. She took great care to execute the cut I wanted, with amazing attention to detail. Some hair salons salons push products on you or use products that you would never find at home. Theresa understood how expensive hair products are and used products similar to the ones I used at home. I really appreciated her effort to work with what I have. I came into the appointment feeling overwhelmed about my hair and came out feeling not only great about the cut but also more confident in how I would manage it. AFH was so friendly and hospitable! They really care about their customers and the quality of their work is superb. Jeremy Abraham is a color/stylist genius! I always feel like a million bucks when I leave the salon.

One final update: this experience was 9 months ago and my new stylist has finally gotten to a point where the two sides of my head are the same shape and layers. She also tried to save my length because I am growing it out and has finally cut off the ends which were frayed horribly from Michael's haircut. So I really would not recommend this salon. I should have received a full refund and looking back at the situation which I had stood up for myself more. Another update again: Annie reimbursed me the cost of my haircut which is great but the photos I sent her more than justified the reimbursement. My hair was ruined and now looks awful but the only solution is to cut four inches off my hair. I was able to find a stylist at another salon who was able even out my layers but now I have a bit of a mullet because the bottom layer is about two inches longer then this ledge that goes around my head but at least it is an even mullet and the other stylist knew what she was doing. I told Annie I wouldn't say anything bad but this is just the truth and I can't in good conscious let others go to Michael without knowing what happened to me. It has been over a month and I am still as upset as I was the day it happened. Another update! Annie (the owner) saw my reviewed post and called me personally to reach out and see how to fix my issue. After some phone tag we were able to connect and she offered to fix my concerns as soon as possible. She was so nice about it and another concern I had with the haircut Michael gave me after fixing my highlights. Annie has excellent customer service and the lady at the front desk is super nice and friendly!!! It has been three days since I got my hair done and I'm changing my review from five stars to three. The highlights that I thought I got aren't there. I thought on Saturday maybe I was imagining things. Sunday I kept my hair in a ponytail doing housework. Then yesterday I realized my roots were lightened but my highlights are not there. Michael said he tries to avoid bleach when he can and that my highlights would be more subtle than before however they aren't there. The overall salon was very nice and so was Michael, but I am not pleased at all with the end result. I called and was lucky to get in on short notice. Michael was great and despite me recently moving to Seattle he was able to pick up where my last stylist left off (I have naturally dark brown hair and it is colored light brown with a lot of blonde highlights all over). He knew exactly what he was doing, did it well and I left feeling great! The salon itself is very nice and everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating. Even after 10 years, she still ALWAYS asks up front what I'm looking for, what I've liked, and what needs a little love. She has a great eye for color and shape. This is the best hair salon in Seattle, in my humbled opinion. Theresa Leon is a magician when it comes to color! She has been doing my hair for the last 5 years and I will not go to anyone else ever! My hair highlights naturally from the sun and after two weeks in Hawaii the color had nothing to do with my regular formula. After Theresa was done with my color, I couldn't tell the difference. I actually looked to see if I can tell where my roots were done, it is one color! Like this is the hair that was exposed to the sun and no coloring was done after. When I walked in and observed that the stylists all had pretty shitty, grungy looking hair, I should have turned on my heel and booked it out of there. Instead, I went against my better judgement and stayed. The result was terrible. I made it known, and they attempted to fix, but its no good, and I'm now stuck with the worst color I've ever had. I won't go back, and would advise that you don't either. They are quite pricey to boot. read more

I have been to several salons in Seattle. I have not been as happy with them as I am with AFH salon. The first visit I got my hair cut with Annie and I was extremely happy with the result. Best hair cut I have had in Seattle. My test is when I go home, can I make it look good again? The answer was yes! My second visit I went to Jeremy for color. I have had highlights and lowlights, but Jeremy did magic. I am so pleased with the colors he put in my hair. I think it looks great! AFH is my new hair salon in Seattle. Within two minutes I was sitting in the chair ready to have my hair cut. Kate talked to me about how I wanted my hair done, and made sure that we were on the same page. I was thrilled to find Annie a year ago, and I'm loving her new salon. I'm a mousy brown type who likes to be blonde. Expensively blonde. But Annie has figured out the perfect honey color that is easy & affordable for me to maintain with the minimum visits...AND she's fast.... AND she gives a great cut.... AND she reads your mood (sometimes I'm chatty, sometimes I want to veg out with a magazine). She has also helped me grow my hair long, and helps me figure out ways to mix up my style so I don't get bored. So yeah, she's amazing. The new space is a great combo of being glamourous & serene but not one bit hoity toity. I've also now had finish appointments with two of the other stylists, so I know she's recruited a great team. This was my first time to this salon. It is new in our neighborhood (Madison Park/Madison Valley). We have been in desperate need of a high end salon for cuts, color and blowouts in this area. I was referred to this salon around July last year by a friend who's been seeing Brooke for years, and recommended her when I said I needed a color correction and blonde specialist. I went in for an initial consultation not necessarily planning to get anything done that day, but I ended up getting quoted a pretty fair price for what I needed/wanted done and have been seeing Brooke here every 4-5 weeks for about a year now. I started off as a color correction bleach and tone and my main goal was to stay as blonde as possible while still growing out my hair. Brooke has always been extremely realistic about what we will be able to achieve based on my hair type and history, and I hardly ever feel unhappy with the results. On the rare occasion I haven't felt 100% happy she has gone out of her way to book me in as soon as possible and make sure we fix whatever is bothering me. I trust her advice on how to maintain the health of my hair (which is my number one priority) and she has never let me down. I have since switched from bleach & tone to a high lift color and crown foil based on Brooke's recommendation and I am still very blonde while maintaining the health and length of my hair. I have also tried tape in extensions on Brooke's recommendation and while I don't keep them in all the time I do enjoy the use of extensions sometimes, and Brooke's application is flawless. I really feel that she cares about her clients, and goes above and beyond to make her clients as happy as possible. I will also say, the general vibe of this salon is very positive, and the service is great. They never fail to offer me a beverage, they always make sure to book my appointments out far in advance, and all the other stylists and front desk employees are very friendly and helpful as well. Annie the owner is very personable and friendly too, which I appreciate because some salon owners can be a bit aloof with other stylists clients. The prices here are a bit higher than what I was used to paying at previous salons, but this is a high end salon in a high end area and I do feel that you get quality work that is worth what you pay for. Rita Lea has been doing my hair for tha past few years and I'm so glad that she found a home in Madison Park at AFH! This salon is gorgeous, the staff is friendly and it was very easy to make an appointment (you can even book online!) I came in for a cut and color, I really like tyhe color line that AFH uses, my hair is so soft and shiny! I'm a natural redhead, but like to "enhance" my copper locks and brighten them up. I added the before and after to the review so that you can see the difference. Rita is great at cutting hair to accentuate your bone structure and works with your hair's texture to give you optimum results! She also excells at creative color, fashion color, balayage, ombre, and corrective color techniques. She even gives you styling pointers while she's blowing you out, so that you can recreate the look at home, however NOTHING will ever beat a salon blow out... Jus' sayin'. AFH is a beautiful and elegant salon (I love the wallpaper). Wine , coffee and tea are offered as refreshments. I noticed that she carries Kevin Murphey products, which I love! I'm really happy for Rita to find a home at Annie's salon. Annie (the owner) is so welcoming and nice, it was almost like being at a chic girlfriend's house getting pampered! Annie and her team are so awesome! The salon is super cute boutique Fabulous! Everyone greets you with a warm smile, and it's just always such wonderful experience all around! With Covid they immediately pivoted to ensure that we were all very safe, requiring masks, ensuring social distancing, minimizing foot traffic, and making sure everything was super clean, constantly sterilizing. Lorenzo is my favorite, he treats my long locks with such love and care. The products they use are Italian and super gentle and I feel like my color is shinier and my hair is even healthier since I've started going to the salon and seeing Lorenzo! What a HALLELUJAH moment it was when I discovered that the mane man for me was working at AFH! I lost track of him for a few years but there he was: LORENZO! If your hair is hacked, tired, bored, stringy, or simply the victim of some over-doing. Lorenzo babies it back to perfection. I'm a blonde (by choice) and at times want to go too far: for example, last time I was there, I told Lorenzo that I wanted to go Lavender. Well, lavender panels in my just-growing-out-from-prior-bad-hair-choices crowning glory. He gently explained that I would be a real IDJIT to do that (OK, he didn't use that word but I figured it out later when I came off my hair high) and suggested I try a couple of extensions in that color! AFS also has an extension Maester. I'm going back for my third time at AFH (I'm an every-8-weeks person) and can only say this: it's GREAT to not have to worry about what I'm going to see when I leave the salon! Brooke is a blonde master. I spent a good (or bad) part of four years searching for someone who could mimic the blonde color my gal in California created for me. Not yellow, no ashy, but a beautiful icy cool blonde. Then I finally found Brooke.. not only did she made it happen, but she created something even better. She has been my gal for three years now! Danaelle Bell is the most amazing stylist. She has a great attitude and really knows hair and what will look good on you with you skin tone and eye color. She is not afraid to tell you if she thinks your hair idea isn't realistic. I went in wanting more yellow in my hair and she was honest about how putting more yellow in my hair wouldn't look fantastic. However, she was able to get me to the true ginger red that i have always wanted, which looks amazing with the yellow I already had. I look like a bombshell and am pulling double takes on myself in mirrors. I can't remember when I have looked this good. The receptionist Katie is super sweet and makes the environment comfortable. Ambiance is great, parking isn't too hard to find anytime we've been there, and of course the haircuts are fantastic. I really like how my stylist listens to what I want to do next with my hair and cuts it in a way that works for my hair type. This place was awesome! I was so nervous going to a new salon with my blonde hair because I like it bright but am always cautious to not damage it or get it cut too short. Desiree did such an amazing job! She listened to what I wanted and even was cautious with my blonde hair, making sure it was the right color and checking in on my foils frequently. I first read about this salon in allure magazine a couple of years ago. After getting tired of my ombre and spontaneously chopping bangs, I decided I wanted to go there to find my new 2015 hairstyle. I wanted to book an appointment with annie but she wasn't available til February, so I took an appt with kate, who had a few days wait and great online reviews. The salon has a very classy/feminine 1960s black and white interior, gives you a robe to wear instead of a cape, and the guy at the front poured me a glass of wine. Normally I just like to zone out with a magazine while my hair is being done, but kate was so likeable that I only read one page. I brought in a picture of miss arkansas usa 2013, who has the same cut but blonder hair, but told kate she could do whatever she wanted as long as it looked expensive and better than when I came in. 2 hours (but good hours!) later, I left the salon with blended cool blonde ends and slightly lightened ash roots. She also textured my bangs for free. I think it came out to $120ish pre tip and with all the compliments I've gotten, it was worth every penny. read more
