The food was well made, presented, and delicious. Would definitely recommend. The outside seating area was well setup.

This Spot is incredible. The meal comes with a house sauce with some delicious spices and a sweet chili sauce. I recommend ordering your meal "spicy." They use great spices, "spicy" doesn't just mean heat that'll bulldoze your palate. The service was super friendly and helpful. The space had some room for my toddler to walk around which was great. Excited to see what they do with the space. Plenty of outdoor seating with a well ventilated indoor area as well. I'll be back! read more

The food here is phenomenal! Amazing food and nice people! Very sanitary too! If you're down for a burrito, this is the spot and if you're down for quesadillas, make sure you get everything on it'll be a bomb in you're mouth! read more

This is super super good with the spicy sauce not the sweet one. I'd order this over and over again.

First time here and fell in love with the place (great location for dine in). Tried the golden burrito (chicken). Can't wait to come back and try their nachos and quesadillas next. Heard from guy working there that their going to add some more items to the menu; looking forward! read more

I love the food here. It's fantastic. But also the staff are so friendly & accommodating. Such a great addition to the neighborhood.

Incredible! The portions are huge, the staff is so hospitable, the environs are splendid, and their food is delicious! I loved their signature golden sauce and marinated meat and lightly crisped tortilla - - it made for a remarkably delicious burrito. I will definitely be coming back again! read more

Food was absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves burritos. I am going to bring my family here more often. read more

One of my new favorite places in Berkeley. East Bay locals may be familiar with how delicious Afghan-Mexican fusion cuisine if they have ever stopped by Hot Shop in Albany, but I think Afhgan Burrito is better (and definitely a nicer ambiance). Set back from the road, this place has a huge outdoor seating area with plenty of shade and trees and space between tables. My go-to is the Golden Combo Burrito (chicken and steak). The first time I tried it, I had to come back again the next day. That's how good it is. Amazing flavors and huge portions. Next time you're craving La Mission or El Farolito, give Afghan Burrito a try instead. You won't regret it. read more

The best casadilla and beautiful environment and also friendly services. I'm happy to find this restaurant.

Burrito is good flavored, relatively big but too much rice for the amount of meat. Flavor is good.

I honestly don't even want to write this review because I love this place so much I want to keep it all to myself but... here I am!! This place is THE BEST and the employees are so kind. I have eaten Afghan Burrito many times and the customer service is excellent every single time. So is the food. I love them. read more

Golden Burrito is absolutely delicious. I had the chicken without cheese or cream and the sauces were plenty.

Very unique place with great service and awesome food. Their steak quesadilla is out of this world, aside from the unique and amazing sauce they use, their meat is actually fresh. I keep coming for more read more

I had the combo, and got a delicious curry-flavored burrito that didn't feel too heavy and retained the feel of a burrito (as opposed to a wrap). Reminiscent of Hot Shop, I like this place a bit more. Wonderful decorations, excellent customer service and future plans for more menu options make me excited to recommend this place. read more

Wow amazing flavor and great service was visiting in town for work and saw this spot on yelp glad I didn't pass it up the spot is a little hidden gem had their steak burrito bowl which was so delicious it's like chipotle but 5000 times better was recommended that guacamole was not needed and indeed was delicious without it if I'm ever in the area again I will stop by here to bring my girlfriend to try out love it read more

Afghan Burrito - steak burrito bowl guacamole on side - Mexican Near Me - Berkeley, California

I have driven past this place many days for the last year wondering when they would open. What the heck is an Afghan Burrito. Saw the recent reviews on Yelp tonight and stopped by for take out.EUREKA ! ( I have found it ! ) I ordered the Chicken Burrito Bowl. A portion so large that I could easily share it with one of my kids. The chicken was cooked to perfection: moist. Not greasy or salty. Flavored with subtle Afghan spices... everything in the dish was very fresh, cut up beautifully. The beans and rice were perfectly cooked ... this dish was perfection.. I am a pretty good cook, but I have never achieved a dish luke this where everything was perfect. Our family of 6 orders out once a week and Afghan Burrito has just displaced another restaurant . Most Mexican places over salt their food, overcook the chicken and the rice and beans are often a compressed gooey mass. Not so here ! Eager tk return next week with a bigger order. I forgot to mention this a good value. Also there is outdoor dinning for those who are avoiding indoor dining. Let's give this new place our attention so they can grow and survive in this tough economy ! read more

Got the steak burrito and holy s**t it was one of the best burritos I've ever had. Also got the veggie bowl and my god it was incredible. Such a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Can't wait to go back and try the nachos! read more

The food tasted amazing. It definitely has a different afghan flavor that goes so well with the Mexican burrito. Loved it so much

Their flavors are awesome and unique. Definitely the spin on a chicken bowl one needs when getting away from a chipotle bowl. Their golden chicken bowl is great and the sauce thwy give that pooks like duck sauce is by far my fav, annnnd it has a hint of spice.. and the amount of food is filling to say the least. read more

Visiting from LA. Had a chicken burrito. Ask for spicy. This is a revolutionary burrito. Fusion done right. The black beans, tortilla, and rice pair beautifully with the delightful afghani curry and unique afghani pico de gallo to create a delicious, bold burrito. I will be back! Super sweet service as well :) read more

Delicious and huge serving size! We had a burrito and bowl and would recommend both. The bowl was huge and we have that as leftovers. Great music and service! Check it out! read more

Great food, nice folks, big portions. What more can you ask for? The outdoor seating is killer when it's nice out! But they have indoor seating too. Go check em' out! read more

I ordered from here solely based on reviews. Great reviews. Boy was I disappointed! I got the steak burrito, steak bowl and chicken quesadilla. The quesadilla was basically inedible. Just mush and meat inside a tortilla. The bowl was a bit better? Yet, again I couldn't finish it. Ugh, the burrito. Why???? Took one bite and tossed it. I realize it's an afghan fusion place. That's what I wanted. But, it was just all wrong. I'm sorry, I tried. Glad people love this place because I'm all for our local restaurants making it! read more

Nice employees and clean space. I got the steak burrito and thought it was okay. Not bad but I also wouldn't buy again. Decent sizes though so if you're hungry, not a terrible stop. Just okay. read more

Happened upon Afghan Burrito about 12:15 on my way to pick up car from Patti's Auto Repair (5 ) and ordered a chicken burrito. Yummy! Nice Middle Eastern spices. And HUGE. I finished my 1/2 but my husband saved part of his share for later. And the young man (relative to my 72 years) was helpful / accommodating. read more

Delicious and subtly flavored offerings! Convenient location for pickup. I'll be back again soon!

"Why is it an Afghan burrito?" "Great question! We basically make Mission-style food, but we marinate the meat in Afghan spices and we use our special Afghan Golden sauce." If this sounds even the least bit intriguing or tasty to you, you need to go there, because, nomnomnom. The chicken is ridiculously tender and delicious. The rice is high quality and cooked to perfection, still ever so slightly al dente. The golden sauce is slightly sweet and I don't know what that pink spicy sauce is that you get on the side but wow. Even the pico de gallo tastes and smells incredibly fresh. Plus the guys who work there are absolutely the nicest and will customize your order exactly how you want it. also: best value around. Just go. read more

Great halal Mexican food in the heart of west Berkeley, prices are very reasonable and the food is excellent and worth every penny.

Delicious flavors! I had the steak quesadilla, and it was so much more delicious than any traditional Mexican version I've ever had. The addition of the Afghan spices makes it truly unique and, well, delicious! read more
