DO NOT HIRE THESE GUYS! We had a recent horrible experience with this company. A few years back they had successfully waterproofed our basement with sump pumps/French drains. I should've realized they were incompetent when we had to correct the workers who incorrectly placed a discharge pipe. Nevertheless, we had a dry basement. Then we hired them again for a new sump pump and 30 foot discharge pipe for new construction on our home. The discharge pipe was incorrectly installed, causing water in the crawl space, drenched insulation, water pooling around the foundation and the A/C units (which sunk into the ground!), dead plants and a constantly wet yard. When they came out to take a look, they attempted to seal the discharge pipe at the foundation (when we weren't looking) WITH CONCRETE rather than inspect what was wrong. We ended up spending 3 days uncovering their errors, shopping at Home Depot and fixing this ourselves. The owner of the company, John McManus, offered me $1000 (on this $3500 job) as restitution, which I accepted. He paid me only $100. HORRIBLE customer service, poor workmanship and John was condescending and rude throughout. I have been disappointed with many service providers but these fools take the cake! read more

Mike is a great guy along with the rest of the crew I would recommend them keep in mind it's a messy business and a hard job sometimes things don't always run smoothly these guys keep things as clean as possible I would recommend them highly. Good job guys read more

Follow up to a past review. A couple of weeks ago I sent out a review stating DON'T USE THESE GUYS. Since then I was contacted by John the owner of the business and he sincerely wanted to solve the issue. He sent down one of his top men Mike Schmanek Sr. who has 18 years of experience and within minuets he spotted the problem. In less than a week he was back with his team to solve the problem....as Mike said "let it rain hard because we have you covered." His determination to get the job done and done right is a testament to him and the company. Hopefully his experience will pay off and I will have a dry basement. Once again I cant emphasize enough about the care and cleanliness he displayed for my property. will follow up again after a good rainstorm hopefully able to report some great news. Do not hire this company. They made a complete mess of the job and did damage that cost me money to repair. They broke the sink in my powder room, cut off the bottom of my door in the utility room so that drafts come in during the winter and I have to pay a handyman to replace the door sweep on the bottom. They cut off some of the framing wood around another door and didn't replace it. They did install a sump pump but the stones they put in under my inside oil tank look terrible. I don't know why they needed them. It cost $4000. read more

If you want to work with a company that is professional, experienced and easy to work with....Affordable Waterproofing is that company! While having my basement finished, a crack in the foundation was found with water coming in. Called them, Marc Pressmen came that morning, Marc was experienced, professional and explained all my options. A crew came the next morning, led by Mike, and finished the job the same day. They also were professional and hardworking.. The contractor who was finishing the basement said they did an excellent job and added.."and I am pretty critical about someone else's work." Looking for someone to deal with some new water intrusion in my basement. Had an "inspector" come after rescheduling, came in and shined a black light flashlight around talking about all of the "black mold" in my basement, which was apparently indicated by the purple light. Which, you know, is the color of a black light. Also, it's a shame that black mold, even if it is there, is much less of a concern than the nose left uncovered by the inspector's mask. Inspector then suggested some proprietary/non-traditional drainage system by drawing a whole bunch of pictures on a scrap piece of paper, then left a quote that was just a number written on the back of a business card. Also very briefly explained that the price would include "mold remediation", which I know from prior repairs is a very technical and very expensive process when done correctly, but this process wasn't explained at all. The price wasn't bad if the drainage system would work, however, no pamphlet or even the hand drawn diagram was left to review, so I'm unable to even compare the proposed service with anything else or research it's effectiveness. Let's face it, no one is excited about having to have a basement waterproofing job done. However, if it's necessary, you hope to find a capable, honest, reasonably priced company to do the job. Well we found all of that and more with Affordable Waterproofing, LLC. I'm not big on writing reviews but feel compelled to let people know how delighted we were with the job they performed. Beginning with the "salesperson" Darin, who came to give the estimate, this was an individual who obviously had experience doing waterproofing. He spent a significant amount of time evaluating our issues and was able to propose a couple of alternatives. His suggestion was not the costliest of these alternatives. He then took the time in painstaking detail to explain (and draw) exactly why we were getting water in our finished basement and what they can do to prevent it. We left him to calculate what it would cost with the only instruction being "make it fair because we will only say yes or no and not try and talk it down". He came up with a price and detailed all we would get with the job. It was very fair and included more than we expected (battery back-up and more). After signing the contract, Darin gave us his personal cell # and encouraged us to call with any additional questions or concerns. The job started on time, with a very pleasant and professional team led by Jim. They proceeded to do a neat and complete job. They did not consider their task complete until every item spelled out on the contract (and described by Darin) was done to both me and my wife's complete satisfaction and fully explained everything they did. I felt compelled to call the owner John and let him know how impressed I was with every aspect of our experience. He mentioned that as a family owned business, it means a lot. While I hope I never need them again, if I do have water issues, I would call Affordable Waterproofing and never hesitate to recommend them to friends and neighbors. 5 star experience! read more

Worst experience trying to get an estimate. First clue and a red flag for me was they required both husband and wife to be present for estimate. Red flag# 2...the guy spent well over 30 minutes showing us a huge binder full of other companies we shouldn't do business with. I don't like that. Red flag #3 he seemed annoyed because I wouldn't tell him the company, what problem they diagnosed or price from our first estimate. Red flag # 4 he pulled out the scare tactics about how bad our mold problem was and how our wall was going to collapse. Red flag # 5...He wrote total price for job on the back of a business card. When I asked him for the itemized list for what he was actually going to fix he refused to give it to me saying prices were proprietary and if I wanted that list it would cost me $325.00. So there is NO FREE ESTIMATE! Writing a total on back of business card in my mind is not good business!! I want to know line for line what I am paying for. That was when I stood up and said "II think we are done here" and showed him the door. He left but not before pulling out the "every time your heater goes only mold spores are blowing through the house and making us sick"! Btw...two other companies said we DID NOT have mold! This estimate was awkward , high pressure and full of scare tactics. His quote was $3500 over other estimates too. I can't speak for this company's work because for sure I will not be using them just because of how the estimate went. Run from their sales guys!!! read more

I called at 8 am this morning for an appt. The woman I spoke with told me that "everyone gets in at 9 and someone should call me shortly" She confirmed she had no reservations that I would not be seen today. I had to call back at 11, another excuse of someone having a baby. Then called at 1:45. She told me, he's calling in a few minutes. Its now 3 PM. No call no show. The best part is, I needed it today and because I trusted a business, I didnt make alternative plans to have someone come. Instead Im sitting here frantically calling places to get someone last minute when I could have done this at 8 am should she just have been honest. I was lied to 3x today by the same company. To think I would trust a company like this to do the job, absolutely never. read more

It SEEMED to have gone well 2 years ago, but, I was told in order to get rid of the smell I would have to throw out anything that was porous. Of course I couldn't do that, it was many things. So, I learned to live with the smell (after two weeks the smell was back). Lo and behold (two years later) I moved aside some boxes and saw mold and a wet cinderblock wall). I called the company because I spent $6k for remediation. Someone came to my house and said "well, what do you want from us, you did not get rid of your water problem". I was livid because I never had a water problem until they painted my walls and covered up the holes that were drilled into the cinderblock to allow for drainage. I threw that man out. I had his boss trying to call me and the boss even sent me a text asking me "don't you want to speak with the owner?" No, I do not want to speak after being "monetarily raped" two years ago for a paint job, dropped ceiling removal and some perfume sprayed around. read more

False Advertiser! I set up an appointment for a free estimate as stated in their advertisements. They refused to come unless I paid $335!!!! This company is a rip off and a big joke. I wasted a day off work because of these scam artists. read more

We recently had a water issue start in our basement and didn't know where to turn for help. A contractor friend recommended Affordable Waterproofing to us. Marc Pressman contacted us, visited the property, then helped us come up with a plan that would take care of the problem in a way that we could afford. He was wonderful! The job had to be postponed one day due to inclement weather, but John came the next day and installed the system we needed. It only took one day to do the job inside and outside of our home. This company bent over backwards to meet our needs and we are SO GRATEFUL to them! What more can we say than THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for your kindness and expertise when we needed it most! I have read other reviews here and see that some people were not happy with this company and I feel bad about that. But our experience was nothing but positive from start to finish and, based on that, we would highly recommend them. read more

The work was done as specified, very respectful of my home, left the basement clean. As far as customer service - there is zero follow-up. I am on my own as my husband passed away in August. I told both the salesman and the foreman on the job that I had no one to help with putting my washer, dryer and utility sink back. Both men said don't worry, we will come back. The foreman then later told me "we really don't do that and I would need to come all the way from Philly". My daughter and I managed to shove both washer and dryer back into place, we cannot get the gas dryer to perform properly due to wherever they shut the gas off. I called and was assured at 7:50 am that "one of the guys would call as soon as they get in". I guess "the guys" aren't working today. Price and quality of work are A+ - customer service follow-up is severely lacking. I feel as if the salesman said whatever was necessary to get the business. I would hesitate to recommend to anyone that doesn't have an able-bodied man in the home. read more
