The repaired brickwork was not straight and square which I noticed shortly after the repair but, was willing to live with but I was told that they did not rebuild it to the correct height and the fact that they did not replace the flue liner is an issue. When we finally bought a house, I scheduled an inspection with Vitale with an appointment needed within a week. They usually do inspections at 9 am or 1pm. I received reminders of the inspection prior to the date. On the day of inspection (a Saturday), Jake arrived and inspected the home thoroughly. He was personable, patient, knowledgeable, and extremely easy to communicate with. We asked him a lot of questions too. And Zack who inspected the chimney (Level II chimney inspection add-on) was just as fantastic. After the inspection, we received our reports in the time promised and when we had follow up questions a few times on the report, someone was always available to answer when we called and tried to answer our questions and offered to pass along any questions to the inspectors for further help. We needed a new chimney service company and selected Mercer County Chimney after some research…read more Tyler and David came right on time. They were pleasant and professional, explaining everything in a level 2 inspection and cleaning. They took a lot of pictures inside and on the roof and explained in detail the things they found. They were done in about 45 minutes. Both of them were careful and cleaned the firebox thoroughly. They explained the condition of the box and the pipe and flashing on the roof. We're very satisfied with their service and will certainly use this company again.

Mercer Chimney to the rescue! We called in MCCS for a level 2 inspection of our chimneys that an…read moreunnamed contractor had just finished working on during the previous weeks, including the complete replacement of the chimney servicing our furnace. We already pretty much knew shoddy, half-@ssed work had occurred after we climbed on the roof and inspected it ourselves. The previous contractor had really made a mess of things. MCCS' inspection revealed in detail the shoddy half-@ssed work by the previous contractor. The flue tile mortaring was found to be substandard and a metal liner was fitted. All of the flashing had to be removed and re-installed properly. The gaps between the chimney and house siding were properly caulked and sealed. The first contractor had promised waterproofing but MCCS' inspection found no waterproofing sealant had been applied at all. All in all Mercer Chimney did an excellent job making all the necessary repairs. They are professionals who do quality work. They will answer any questions you may have and office manager Holly is awesome. We only wish we had known about them and hired them in the first place.

Paul talks out of both sides of his mouth. For servicing prior to sale he sealed and capped my chimney and said it was in satisfactory condition. When he was called back by a buyer, he did a over the top camera inspection of inner flue and rated it potentially leaky? He would not verify his prior work and inspection for me. Totally unethical in my opinion to work both sides of a transaction and not support the initial satisfactory assessment. Beware this is also the work of the local RE community who are pushing for over the top inspections that are not part of our codes. This misrepresentation cost me thousands, BEWARE.
