Another day in paradise. What I wasn't hoping for was to have Arlene tell me there's water dripping from my bathroom ceiling. After placing a small bucket under the drip, coming from around the side of the ceiling light/fan, I climbed into the attic with a flashlight to see what was causing the drip. The leak was coming from around one of the bathroom vents protruding through the roof.
I fired up my home contractor advisor application and entered the project scope. Yesterday morning, I had text messages from several contractors who offered free estimates. I had one stop by and the estimate was way more than I expected. Rather than to call one of the other contractors referred by the application, I decided to strike out on my own. After spending a few hours on the internet perusing contractor websites, referrals and complaints, I called Mercer Roofing and Siding. My voice mail message was followed by a call from the owner, Dan. I explained the issue, he did a Google flyover of my house and offered to stop by to look at the issue and provide a free estimate. He arrived earlier than he told me he would, climbed the roof and showed me photographs of the protrusions through the roof so I would understand the work needed to be done. We agreed on a price and he said he would return this morning. Dan and his helper arrived earlier than I expected and got right to work.
Dan's invoice clearly showed the work completed and the 10-year labor and material guarantee. Based on the work that Dan did, and his inspection of the entire roof, he indicated that my roof has a remaining useful life of between 10 and 15 years - great news to me! His company also does gutter cleaning, so I know who I'll be using for the next gutter cleaning.
Great work Mercer Roofing and Siding! Thanks. read more
