We called them in March. Saying yes and we wanted it done asap because we were planning on Going to Utah June 1st. It was supposed to to be done the 27,28,29 of May. They contacted us that the crew had quit we'd like to reschedule. Gut feeling was not okay. We said no. Give us our money back. We leave. 6/1 to 7/15. The next day someone called from CO to try to salvage the sale by saying our crew quit. We can get the larger of the two jobs done. I said no we are leaving. Refund the down payment. Groundworks provided an encapsulation of the crawl space beneath our townhouse. It involved water seal and foam board for the walls and floor. We'd had similar work done a couple years ago and we were very unhappy with the results. Though Groundworks had a higher quote, some of which was the removal of materials from the previous company's efforts, the end result is great and so far we feel it's been worth every penny. Following the initial work, we've had a couple minor issues, and we're pleased to say the company addressed them effectively and efficiently, responding with a crew within 48 hours of our telling them about the problem. Their office person (Michele) did a great job of coordinating their field people and made doing business with the company a pleasant experience. We're in our late 70's so touring crawlspaces is not on our bucket list - the Groundworks people were happy to provide pictures of what they were doing or had done throughout the job. We're very pleased with the service and the courtesy of their people. Special thanks to Antonio. A cautionary note about highly negative reviews on Yelp and elsewhere. Before you take those reviews seriously, check the reviewer's profile and see if during their entire lifespan on Yelp they have ever, ever, ever written a positive review about anything. This organization was hired to install floor jacks and beams in the crawl space of my house. The purpose was to address some settling in the house which had led to several cracks in the wall. A salesperson was sent out to evaluate the problem and took several measurements and looked at the main support beam in the crawl space. The salesperson noted that the main beam and jacks were okay, but that a new beam and jack supports were needed to support the with of the floors and address the cracks. Besides being very expensive, the installation was incompetent - the installers put the 20 feet of beam and jack supports in the wrong place. The cracks did not get worse, but when another representative came out to the house to inspect he discovered the new beams were placed in the wrong place. In addition, this salesmen stated that the jack posts for the main beam in the house (Original construction) needed to be replaced and offered an outrageous amount to fix the the problem. By his own admission the second salesmen stated the 20 feet of beam would not address the issue of the cracks in the walls. Thus I was sold an overpriced solution which was then incompetently implemented - complete stupidity! Under no circumstances trust this company to perform any work on your property. Dan read more

I am trying to give a review for Groundworks in Minneapolis, who just bought out innovative basement authority. Buyer beware: these people are sales people. I was very disappointed in their free assessment of the noticeable water damage in our home. They said we needed to install drain tile, use their proprietary system, and said it would only cost $17,000.00 to only "sign today!" I felt like they took advantage of me by preying on the fact that I was a new homeowner, identifying foundation "cracks" which are typical for any concrete when a home is settling. Finally, I wouldn't have left this review (because although sales-y, the guys were nice and just trying to do their job) BUT they were COMPLETELY wrong about what the problem was. One of our drains was leaking, and they didn't diagnose that. They said that it was a foundation problem, a grading problem, which could be fixed by us paying $17k to fix something that they improperly diagnosed. I would stay away from these sales people who try to get you to sign on the dotted line with scare tactics of an imminent basement flood or foundation crack. Its a riot! Groundwork's was very professional in handling the raising of two of our walkways. The crew of Jesse and Chris were extremely professional in all aspects of their work. They communicated that morning letting us know they would be here at their allotted appointment time. They called again to tell me they finished one job early and would come early if that was acceptable and it was. When they got here Jesse took the time to explain the process they would be working. They went through a questionnaire to make sure they had our approval. Once we OKd the project they began the work. It took them about 2 hours and they began the work immediately and were professional in every aspect of their project. They worked like a well trained team and completed the work to our satisfaction cleaning up everything when they finished. Once they had completed the work we checked everything they did and were extremely pleased with the work. And the sidewalks that had sunk about 2-3 inches were perfectly level and looked like new. Both my wife and I couldn't be more satisfied. Would recommend groundwork's to anyone needed cement leveling. Plan on using them again for a cracked driveway. Upon completion they took me through a final review of what was done and had questions regarding our satisfaction before they asked to be paid. I really liked that! I will definitely use them again and would highly recommend this crew to anyone needing cement repair. read more

For the last few years, I always request Zach Moren when it comes time for my yearly maintenance appts. Here is why: Zach will not over sell or push you into making additional purchases, if there is no current need. His approach is to be advisory, consultative and so when he does make a recommendation, he's earned your trust and you take him at his word. Also, a year ago when he was in my basement doing maintenance, he noticed one of my very old sewer pipes had a major crack. He brought this to our attention. Had he not been so thorough, there would have been a major problem for us in the near future. Thanks to Zach, we were able to get a plumber to fix it before a flood occurred. This to me = added value. Zach cares about his customers and this one example shows. He is personable, professional, patient, knowledgable and has excellent client facing skills. Team that showed up didn't have all the tools needed. I supplied ladder and lighting. The white wrap was horribly pieced together using silver duct tape. They apparently ran out of drainage matt so just covered with the white wrap. After they left, I called their shop. Several weeks later a supervisor showed up and said they agreed the job was bad and promised to make it right. Two weeks later a new crew showed up (without supervisor) and asked me what I wanted them to do. I had to literally point out all the issues. Upon completion with the repairs, they agreed that the original install was very bad. Fast forward...one year later I was expecting a call for the one-year warranty checkup. **Update to 2 stars as are in communication with general manager. NOTE: I do not leave negative reviews, but what was sold as a fast, dust-free waterproofing job turned into months of mess, unsafe wiring, and broken promises. Apparently many of their teams and other departments do good work, judging by reviews. Our experience with their waterproofing sales team, system and upper management, however, left us dumbfounded. We paid $20,000 to Groundworks (formerly Baker's Waterproofing) for a dust-free, 3-day waterproofing job. Instead, our home was left coated in concrete dust, the work was rushed and unsafe wiring still powers our sump pump and air filtration system. Promised electrician service, cleaning, and a $750 reimbursement never happened. Three months later, we still can't safely use the $10,000 filtration system we were sold. Precious time with my infant daughter and aging parents that I had to spend cleaning every nook and cranny of my home while caretaking my 8 month old and elderly parents who were meant to stay over the summer but have still been unable to due to production manager dropping every ball and keeping this project on hold. I wanted an evaluation of our foundation and crawl space. He was on time, communicative, knowledgeable and professional. He gave us an evaluation and provided recommendations but he also educated us as to what to look out for should issues arise in the future. He answered all of our questions, was very personable, and we wouldn't hesitate to contract with him once work needs to be done. Even though the on-site groundworkers were thorough and professional, I cannot say I am satisfied with the overall process. Robert Vernacchio, the salesperson, came to my home, showed me a picture, and explained how he could lift my foundation. I paid $3,000 for their engineer, only to later discover that Robert had removed three critical jacks from the project cost. When questioned, he falsely claimed I had requested their removal, despite the jacks being included in the original diagram. These jacks were the primary reason I sought their service in the first place. I had to contact the company to have them added back, resulting in additional costs. After the job was completed, I realized that the original issue remained unresolved because Robert failed to mention that the sagging area was actually under another pillar. This meant the work they performed did not address my concern. I attempted to contact Robert multiple times, only receiving a single text apologizing and promising to call back--he never did. As a homeowner, I trusted his 15 years of experience to provide accurate recommendations so I could make the best decision for my home. Instead, his lack of attention to detail and transparency left me feeling deceived and misled. After posting my initial complaint, I received a call from Rudy, the sales manager. He asked me to remove my review and assured me they would send Dan, the site supervisor, to reassess the situation and fix it at no cost. However, when Dan arrived, he pointed out that the installed jacks were not even positioned to address the actual issue. The drop was surrounded by ventilation, making it impossible to lift. We both agreed that the original diagnosis and diagram were incorrect. Given this mistake, I requested a $3,000 refund to account for the three jacks that were improperly installed. Dan consulted Rudy, who refused, stating they "cant give it to me for free"because work was still performed--even though it was not the work I had originally agreed to. Instead, they offered me $1,500 in compensation. My question is simple: if you pay for a specific service and the company fails to deliver as promised, are you expected to simply accept that they "did some work", even if it was incorrect? No communication, different crews every single day (if you can call 2 people a crew), a 10-day project now stretching beyond a month. No updates, no communication, unless we call multiple times a day. Then we get another "It'll be done tomorrow". Bad experience. I had some work done on my basement, adding supports to the main beam. When the crew showed up, they decided they wanted to proceed with their own plan and disregarded the plans we had originally drawn up. I intervened and they tried to ignore me and continue working. I told them, complete the job as planned or get out of my house. So, they called the project manager who then told them to work it correctly. The work site was a complete mess, left my basement door wide open, dust went everywhere in my house. Worst part was the work performed was way more than what was necessary and did not in fact address the issue I had. Also, sales guys are extremely pushy.. tried to get me to buy a plan for 32,000 dollars and wouldn't stop calling, saying it was a limited time offer. Terrible company. Very quick to answer calls and will even call multiple times a day till the job is completed. After that. Good luck. Took two months for them to come out and look at the dehumidifier. Was told it needed replaced. Waited over two weeks and was never called had to call myself and was scheduled for a holiday and they aren't even open holidays. Took over another two months for them to come out and replace it. When they did come to replace it, the technician wasted my time by verifying that it needed replaced. Ok well then what did the other guy do? It was already checked by a technician saying it needs replaced. Technician was just doing his job and was very nice but I was annoyed because we already verified that over two months ago. Glad I did not go with these clowns. From the moment the person arrived at my residence to evaluate my garage floor RED flags started going up. The rep came in with loud music playing and even asked to pee in the yard. The quote came in lower than the first company so I held my tongue and went with Groundworks initially. They offered the same as cash via GreenSky. I decided to go with it and read the contract and found that repairs to existing cracks may be at an additional charge. I was informed by the person doing the assessment that existing cracks would be covered as part of the repair. I texted Peter and he was able to correct the contract to remove the additional charge for existing cracks. I realize that I would need to make a deposit of approximately $1313.73 but was not comfortable with how the deposit was worded. There had not been any substantial work done per the message below and I reached out to Peter. He was trying to convince me that this was normal and standard verbiage. I asked him to text or email me when he has more information. He called me as to avoid paper trails so I told him to end the contract. Per the terms, the customer needs to mail the cancellation notice via certified mail to their address within 3 business days of signing the contract. AVOID THESE CLOWNS. They lie and try to have me go with it. I am having trouble now with Groundworks. I really wish I read these reviews. I do not recommend this company. They started the work on 12/11/25 and still waiting for them to finish. Communication is lousy, keep switching crews that never come prepared for the job. I have big holes dug in my yard with water in them. All I keep hearing when I call is that I will pass the info along and when do talk to someone they don't seem concerned. Now they want to show up on the day it will be raining just to push this project back. I keep asking about repairs to cracks that were originally discussed and now I feel like they will not get done. They keep talking about making progress-but everything looks the same and the crew has really spent one full day there because the other 2 days left early within 2 hrs. A two Day project is now turning into weeks. I feel like I keep getting the run around . I do feel like I'm being over charged and they not bringing there right workers out to get this job done. Communication in a job like this is important which this company truly lacks. Obvious they don't send pics of there work because everyone telling me they almost done and they nowhere near done. we hired them to raise a concrete patio. they originally scheduled us for July 23, however, they contacted us for an earlier date of June 18. On June 17th they advised that there was a family emergency and would reschedule for June 24. On June 24, after several calls to them, it was too hot and they will come on June 27. (It was the first day of a heat wave, so understandable.) On Friday 6/27/25 around noontime we called to confirm that were actually coming and were told we were on the schedule and they had another job to finish. At 5:00 pm, they finally showed up. It took them 45 minutes to get up the driveway with our help, looked at the job and then spent 45 minutes on the phone. They drilled 4 holes in my cement and tried to fill one spot, then they had problems with the sprayer on their truck and tried to fix it for 45 minutes because it kept clogging. Then advised they would be back the next day. The next day after more calls to them we were finally told they are not coming back and cannot do the job. Very disappointing they left us in a mess. We have been trying to get an answer as to why, since the workers really did not try to do this job. We have called the sales person, production etc. they say they will call you back but never do. yesterday we contacted them again and expected a call back yesterday, but nothing. Today we called production, their mailbox is full so you cannot leave a message and they do not answer the phone. Very sad customer service and we would never recommend their services. read more

Tyrell and his team did an outstanding job. They installed the drainage system in my basement quickly and effectively. They cleaned up as well as they could have and even helped out with a few small things (punctured waste pipe) as they were doing the installation. Their price was also very competitive with other companies. We got 3 quotes, and all were in line with one another. Update as of July 2024: the company contacted us, rescheduled and came and added more foam under our concrete. The foreman was pleasant, helpful, and explained how best to add foam strategically under the concrete without drilling extra holes. I appreciate that even after a bumpy road, the company did come back and finish everything very well. DO NOT USE THEM!!! Their salesman was personable, informative, had a tablet presentation that made the company seem reputable and good at what they do. WRONG. The installers came out to fill in some gaps under our concrete, and seemed like they were in a rush to get to the next job. Without letting me inspect their work, they handed me the papers to sign and rushed off. Then, I realized there were still VISIBLE gaps under our concrete that their foam did not fill, but the company has a 5 year warranty on all their work so I figured it would be ok and we could have the issue fixed. ALSO WRONG. I tried calling multiple times, multiple numbers, and after 10+ phone calls I was able to make an appointment to have their shoddy work fixed and the remaining gaps filled. THEY DID NOT SHOW UP FOR THEIR APPOINTMENT. No phone call, no apologies, no re-rescheduling. Do not use Groundworks/BQ Basements!!! read more
