I had a water problem in the basement of my store. It appeared on Saturday. AJ and Caroline were amazing. Immediately they asked a lot of questions and recommended a way to test for diagnosis of the problem. AJ met with me and we agreed on the remediation. His team arrived today on time and went to work. By 2:30 they installed a French Drain and cleaned up so it looked like no one had even been here. They also installed a sump pump. AJ is a real professional. He is courteous, and reliable. I would recommend him to anyone who has any difficulty that requires waterproofing services. The price was very fair as well. read more

I hired AJ Waterproofing to waterproof two very different properties -- my personal basement and a strip mall I own -- and they knocked it out of the park on both. With over 40 years in business, their experience really shows. The work was done quickly without any mess left behind, and the pricing was fair and transparent. Six months later, both properties are completely bone dry. It's rare to find a contractor who can handle both a residential and commercial job with the same level of professionalism and efficiency. Highly recommend AJ Waterproofing to anyone dealing with water intrusion problems. read more

Can not say enough good things about AJ Waterproofing. I had been having an issue with water getting into my crawl space for a long time. I called a different company first, and they immediately said I would need a french drain and sump pump for several thousand dollars, and it felt like they weren't really diagnosing the problem at all. Then I was lucky enough to reach out to AJ for a second opinion - he had me show him the backyard and exterior walls and stairs of my house over FaceTime, and he took a careful look at every crack, every little nook and cranny - he concluded all the moisture in the crawl space had to do with problems on the house's exterior. He and his crew were out to my place the next morning, got right to the root of the problem and sealed up all the potential places where water had been getting in, and all for a fraction of the price that the other company had quoted... AND without pressuring me into getting a french drain or sump pump when it wasn't necessary for my situation... Haven't had any issues since - extremely glad I reached out to AJ! I'd also like to add that AJ is a cool guy - had a great conversation with him! read more

Just moved into a new townhouse and had problems with the sump pump twice (unrelated issues) within a month. Anthony called back promptly both times, even though I was not an established customer. He walked me through what to do and how to do it, advising me both times that these odd issues did not mean the pump had to be replaced immediately yet - he said "save your money for now". AND he made a follow up call without prompting to make sure everything was still OK. Excellent customer service. Extremely knowledgeable. Patient enough to explain to a rookie. Highly recommend. read more

I didn't use AJ's services, but he took the time to speak with me over the phone and give me really helpful information about my issue. He reviewed pictures I sent him, gave me his advice on what he thought the issue was, and even gave me recommendations on ways I can save money when having the issue fixed by a processional. Thanks, AJ! read more

Update: AJ called me back after reading my original review and apologized for his behavior during our previous conversation. He then spent several minutes asking me about what I decided about radon remediation and offering tips for how to make the systems coexist, providing questions to ask the radon contractor, and offering assistance on any future concerns before apologizing again. This second conversation was genuinely helpful; and both his following up on my original questions and the apology were really appreciated on my end. Original Review: This is not a review for the actual work of waterproofing. I purchased a house with the waterproofing done earlier this year by AJ Waterproofing and reached out to ask about how the transferable warranty may be affected and work with a radon remediation solution. AJ, instead of answering my one or two questions about how the waterproofing could be affected, spent our 10 minute call being entirely too confrontational, insulting me, explaining how I shouldn't worry about radon levels, yelling, accusing me of lying, telling me that my radon remediation contractor isn't looking out for my interests and accusing me of wanting to waste his time. To his credit about 60 seconds of that was actually explaining what I asked. But, when I asked him to repeat something to make sure I understood, he rhetorically questioned himself aloud "Is this the sort of person that I'm talking to!? that can't even listen when someone else is talking!?" And when I asked him if he minded if I pulled the radon remediation guy in on our call, he shouted into the phone "Whoo hoo! Yea, let's do it!... Because I don't have jack S#*+ else to do!". Based on my experience, I would never recommend AJ waterproofing... unless perhaps you enjoy being verbally abused and treated with utter contempt. read more

AJ took time inspect the house and provided professional suggestions. Very helpful suggestions! Thanks!

I recently got a French drain and sump pump installed in my basement. AJ took over 30 minutes to inspect the situation there before deciding the best way to approach the problem. I had issues with water in my basement for a few years, so I'm thrilled to have a permanent solution to the problem. The work was completed quickly and professionally and I'm really satisfied with the end result! read more

AJ and his crew did a fantastic job installing a French drain, sump pump, sump pit, and backup sump pump in our basement. AJ is both knowledgeable and thorough. They cleaned up after completing the work, leaving the basement even cleaner than it was before they started. The team was professional and easy to work with. I'm actually looking forward to the next rainstorm! I highly recommend. read more

1. Was chastised on the phone because I didn't know what type of wall I had in my new house. 2. Had to hang up on me to take another call while he's on the phone with me, the customer. 3. I was ready to drop 10,000 on a French drain but they are so honest they told me I should call the water company it sounds like a waterline. They were right, HONEST! Hard to find today, if I need work in the future I'm going to them. read more

Truth. Integrity. Honesty. Decency. That is what I have to say about AJ. He turned around his car to drive over and accommodate my schedule. He investigated the problem for over 45 minutes, and came to the conclusion that my only issue was an unplugged AC water pump that overflowed. He recommended some other minor opportunities i could fix. Clearly an expert at his work. He gave me an hour of his time and did not charge me a dollar, when he could have sold me bridge. I have not met many Honest Men like AJ. Be sure, i will use no one else should i have any water issue. no one. he is the man. read more

The best. AJ took care of our problem quickly and communicated everything that was going on. He literally took care of everything. Do not hesitate, just go with AJ read more

AJ spent more than a considerable amount of time with me on the phone, explaining the different ways in which we could be getting water and advising on things we could do on our own first, without having to get an expensive french drain in. It's abnormal these days not to be "sold to" as a first tactic, but that's exactly what happened. While we didn't receive services, seemed very trustworthy and more than knowledgeable. If we do go the french drain route, will be the first person I call. read more

Just as a preface: we didn't use AJ at his own recommendation. Absolutely unbelievable service. We've been having a bit of water come into the basement. After a plumber thought it may be groundwater, we called AJ for an appointment. He asked to set up a Facetime call to walk through and see the issue. I have never spoken with anyone who has taken so much time or care to look at and walk through an issue. AJ had me go along the whole of my basement, get up close to where the problem was, and talked through everything. He probably spent 45 minutes on the call, and ended with a suggestion to try to get to the bottom of the problem. That was our first call. We had a second call the next day to further troubleshoot. Ultimately, it was determined this was a problem for a plumber, not a waterproofing contractor. He then proceeded to speak with a neighbor who owned a lot of houses in Philly, to get the number of a trustworthy plumber. I'm honestly floored. We're still waiting on the final diagnosis, but AJ was amazing. If we actually needed waterproofing services, he'd be the obvious choice. read more

We received quotes from two different companies, BasementPros and AJs. The quote from BasementPros was significantly lower, but we went with AJ's Waterproofing instead. Here is why: The other company came in, barely looked at our situation, and recommended an internal French drain installation. They offered us that because it's what they sell, and that's how they make money. AJ's waterproofing operates a little differently. The owner himself (AJ) comes out, investigates your scenario, and then gives a recommendation to solve the problem. Then AJ shows up with his crew, and they perform the work. AJ was doing some of the work himself. It is not common for the owner of a multi-decade old business to be out there during the install, let alone to be participating in the work himself. I did end up getting an internal french drain, but it was the best solution for this particular situation. AJ and his crew (Javier, Pedro, and one other whose name I didn't catch) were meticulous. They are perfectionists who pride themselves on work quality. This includes the quality of the internal drain, as well as efforts to protect your home from damage during the work and reasonable clean-up afterwards. Again, this is different from other waterproofing companies. Other companies are sometimes sloppy, and often concerned with maximizing profit by maximizing the quantity of the jobs they do, while minimizing the quality. The cost was higher than the other company, but in exchange you get AJ's experience, increased confidence in success, and something AJ isn't afraid to put a lifetime warranty on. read more

Really great to work with. Super responsive, especially given a recent big storm. Honest, friendly and thorough. Would highly recommend!!!

Basement still flooding despite getting curb trap fixed by Zoom. AJ knew that we likely needed a French drain. He was willing to work with us on cost. His crew came quickly and got everything done in our unfinished townhome basement in one day. No more flooding. read more

Had AJ install a French drain and sump pump on our early 40's home. He and his squad did an outstanding job. Moved all of our crap out of the way for us. Did not cut ONE corner in doing the job. Others wanted to run the drain in front of our oil tank because it was be easier for them. He did it the right way, which was far more difficult. Very easy to get a hold of, quick to respond, and clearly knows how to do the job properly. Much easier to trust a company who is locally owned, has their name attached to the business, and a ton of local references. read more

This is a family owned business that treats new clients like family. My daughter purchased a home 1 year ago. She paid for a home inspection, however, the inspection did not reveal a water issue in the Basement, nor did the disclosure. Everyone that we spoke with wanted to start by ripping up our entire basement. A.J. Waterproofing had a different approach. From my initial contact by phone, I knew this was the company for the job. Caroline suggested a little investigation before suggesting any work to our home. This indicated to me that their first concern was the customer and their needs. A.J. suggested what should be done and the following week , did the work. His workman and himself were professional, courteous, and completed the job beautifully in a sigle afternnon. He installed 2 galvanized window wells , graded the landscaping, secured the window well covers and added mulch and stone to the entire area. They cleaned the entire area and hauled away all the debris. In short , they did a beautiful job. Last, night, we were NOT continually running down to our finished basement to vacuum up water. If you have an issue that needs waterproofing, speak with A. J. waterproofing before committing to having your work done. This company seems to be a rare find in the sea of contractors. read more

I am so pleased with A J Waterproofing, I needed to repeat my appreciation! AJ and his team did an amazing job! Now I can go and on how happy I am, but one thing I noticed was he 100% cleaned everything up after the job was done. Honestly, it seems as if he was never there! This is a family owned business with 30+ years of AJ Waterproofing experience, I can see why he performs each job as personal matter and understands how important this is to every customer. I have to report this wonderful experience of working with AJ waterproofing. I purchased my home a few years back and was not aware of water issues. I researched and researched, got quote after quote. I finally found AJ waterproofing, we did a video conference so he could access my problem areas. Mr AJ listened to my concerns and even made suggestions on how to resolve. I scheduled on 8/2/2021 and the work was completed meticulous. I can't speak for the quality of work but AJ scares the hell out of me. I exchanged a few texts with him just coordinating time to talk. In a very short conversation he proceeds to insult me and tell me he can tell I cannot afford his incredible service. He then proceeds to send me a bizarre series of texts while insulting me 3 times in a single sentence. I had to block him and added home monitoring service to my Ring doorbell because of his alarming behavior. Run, don't walk, from AJ. Thank god I didn't give him my actual address. read more

A true professional and service oriented owner/operator. I highly recommended AJ for honest help. Wow. What more can be said.AJ from an waterproofing. Is by far the most professional and responsive contractor I have ever spoke with. After not getting many return calls for someone to evaluate our problem. I came across an on the web and noticed the glowing reviews and thought let try. After the phone rang three times. I was greeted with a actual person. Not a recording. An ask me what the problem I was having. It was water entering through a hole left by the water company when the did work on our lines. After a lengthy discussion. He suggested I excavate to the pipe Protect it and fill any holes or cracks. With hydrolic cement. Then back fill in a specific way to channel water away. And also recommended keeping gutter clean. Reassured me that it was something a homeowner could handle and offer any further advice if needed. I will call AJ waterproofing if ever I need a true professional. Thank you for listening to the customer read more

Today is October 20, 2020. Please do not hire this company! Today was a nightmare! This was the worst experience ever! I took off of work for nothing. I hired AJ Waterproofing after they came to my home and provided me with an estimate. It took a little over two months to schedule an appointment. The men that came to my home were not the men that I hired. I believe they were sub-contractors. I don't even know if they were licensed and insured! The men that came to my home did not agree with what was written on the estimate. In fact, they were unaware of the estimate. As a result, they called the owner of the company. The owner and the men exchanged words and were in a heated argument. The call was on speaker. The owner told one of the guys to ,"Shut the Fuck up and get the Damn job done". They were arguing back and forth. I did not ask for this drama. The men that came to my home said that they weren't going to start the work because I was quoted the wrong price. I showed them a copy of the estimate. I spoke with the owner to rectify the confusion. The owner's tone was aggressive. He was unprofessional, biligerant, and irate! He was so disrespectful towards me! He cursed and yelled at me. After this experience, I am left mentally exhausted and overwhelmed. This company is the worst company ever! Do yourself a favor and find another company to hire. AJ Waterproofing will waste your time and money! read more

We recently used AJ's Waterproofing Services to fix our water issues in our basement and we couldn't be happier with the job him and his team did. It was very apparent from our consultation with him that he is the ultimate professional. He spent over an hour and a half with us explaining the issues at hand in our basement and the different options we could go with to remedy the situation. It never once felt like he was out to oversell us or take advantage of us. We knew very quickly he was the man for our job. The day of the French drain install, he sent us multiple updates throughout the day. After they were done for the day, they thoroughly cleaned the area. There were no traces of dust and debris from where they dug up the concrete. We just had a major rain storm and we had no water in the basement. I would highly recommend AJ's Waterproofing for all of your water issue needs. read more

Within minutes of my sump pump emergency, I was able to connect with Caroline to discuss the situation. Immediately responsive by telephone, she was very kind and patient as I described to her the issues that I was experiencing with the sump pump. As she sought to quickly schedule me, she also provided honest real-time guidance regarding how to safely turn-off the sump pump. Afterward, her son (Anthony!) called me to review the situation with me as well. By FaceTime, he described to me how to enter the crawl space, find the sump pump, and lift the float switch; this immediately resolved the problem. He also remained on the telephone with me as I navigated into and out of the dark crawl space, which I very much appreciated. Most other companies would have sent me straight to voicemail, scheduled me much later, and/or charged me an initial consultation fee. But not A.J. Waterproofing; during these very competitive times, this family business guided me through fixing my own sump pump within the hour. It is a testament of their expertise and trustworthiness--and I look forward to them replacing my sump pump and other home waterproofing needs. Thank you, Caroline and Anthony! read more
