I have not used this company, however I am making a review to say that I did drive behind a toyota pick up truck (I don't know cars)? That had a Main Line Waterproofing large sticker on it. This car drove quite recklessly throughout Montgomery ave. They tailed me, cut off a car, and then proceeded to cut me off too. Montgomery is known to be a busy street with lots of road work in the morning, so you should plan ahead to leave earlier rather than put everyone on the road in danger because you're late or maybe just because you're impatient. I have no way of knowing if that person works for the business or just supports the business, but either way it should be known that it's not a great idea to promote a business on the same car that you use to aggressively cut people off. read more

Our new construction home was facing water issues leaving my husband and I in a panic. I called Mainline Waterproofing to discuss the problem and James came to meet with us the next day! James at Mainline Waterproofing was absolutely fantastic to work with. Extremely communicative (responded in real time to me on text and emails), quick scheduling, knowledgeable and professional. I felt so confident they would do the work correctly. We weighed the pros and cons of several options and they didn't pressure us into doing more than needed. Ultimately we put in a second pump/pit and window well drains. James also introduced us to a general contractor he knew (who has also been fantastic/communicative/speedy!). Herb and the entire main line waterproofing company were amazing to work with. Quick and easy scheduling and email/phone communication. They did amazing work and cleaned up after themselves. We had a major mold and water problem in our basement. Herb came out and gave us an estimate, his honest educated opionion on options for waterproofing and mold remediation. The office staff reached out shortly after we decided to move forward with them. The office/scheduling staff was friendly and made scheduling and making payments easy! The workers were fast and thorough and installed a french drain, sump pump, and water vapor barrier. Just yesterday their work was put to the test when the creek behind our house flooded to historical heights all the way up to our house. Our basement stayed dry!!!!! We were happy with the quality and craftsmanship of the french drain installation by the crew, however, some things could've used a bit more attention. First, the proposal from Main Line stated that the premises would be left broom swept which it wasn't. I swept up a couple pounds of debris the day after they finished. They also damaged my dryer vent which required replacement. General communication was also lacking between the office, the crew and myself. We were scheduled for Tuesday, which got pushed to Wednesday, which got pushed to Thursday at which point the office told me the job would be completed in one day since we had people coming to move all our belongings back to the basement on Friday. As soon as the crew arrived Thursday, the foreman told me told me it would certainly be a two day job at which I point I had to cancel the movers and eat the $ that I was going to spend on them. I also reached out to the office with my concerns and received no response. Looks like quality work/craftsmanship so far at a fair price but be prepared to be flexible with scheduling if you're going to hire them. read more

Waterproofing is something you probably don't look forward to spending money on, like you do a shiny new kitchen or a finished basement -- however, we had a problem and needed it fixed right. We had an existing system we didn't know about that wasn't quite performing enough to make us feel good about spending money on finishing a basement. I am thrilled with the job that was done. Everything from the initial estimate with Herb, to the last interaction with the crew was a pleasant experience and I am very happy with the results. They were courteous and quick, but never at the expense of their work. Anytime an unknown caused a snag the lead just happily told me not to worry because we know what we're doing and our only option is to do it right. Jarred's passion for his craft shone through multiple times during the install and was a big reassurance to me that we were in good hands. I am a big do-it-yourselfer and struggle with giving it up that I need a professional but at multiple times during the install I was so thankful I went with this company. All of our concerns addressed, and our questions answered. We can now finish our basement with confidence and are much more knowledgable about what we have and how to maintain it. I had to update my original review. We're happy with the work that was done. We had issues with water in our basement for years and finally decided to address it. After receiving a few quotes from several waterproofing companies, Main Line turned out to be one of the more reasonable prices considering the work that was proposed. The work was done in April and up until the time we sold our house in August, we had not one drop of water in our basement. The issue I have with Main Line is that when the borough inspector facilitated his inspection, he pointed out that the location of the discharge, which is basically the piping that carries out the water via the sump pump, was not where it should have been placed. Main Line placed the discharge on the side of the driveway. Per borough rules, it should have been placed somewhere in the rear yard. The reason this went unnoticed was due to the fact that Main Line did not obtain a permit to complete the work. I could have been fined, forced to pay for the permit and then would have been responsible for contacting them to relocate the discharge. Luckily, the inspector wasn't such a bad guy and provided me with an alternative that saved me time and a lot of money. If you decide to use Main Line for your waterproofing needs, I would still recommend them. Just make sure they obtain a permit to avoid any fees or penalties from your borough or township. Also, it helps to know the rules and guidelines of your specific area. read more

This crew saved out house! They installed a French drain and two sump pumps, one with hydraulic back-up. After a month or two I noticed that the outside drain was backinig up, so they came back and patched it into the French drain system - at no extra charge. THen we had a big storm where we lost power. The hydraulic pump was going non-stop for at least 8 hours. The outside drrain did not back up at all. Not a drop of water in the basement. I highly recommend this company. read more

I informed them that I needed a crawlspace looked at. For some reason they sent Herb, who was elderly. Not surprisingly he didn't feel comfortable crawling in there. He said he would call his son to come out. 10 minutes later he called and left a voicemail saying they weren't going to be able to help me. I lost a couple hours of work for naught. They need to plan better and recognize that some crawl spaces require crawling. read more

Herb Fry is about the nicest small business owner I've dealt with. He is sincere about what he does and responds incredibly fast when you're befallen with the bane of all homeowners, water in the basement. Unfortunately, Main Line Waterproofing attempted to solve our basement's wet problem by trying to keep water OUT: by sealing leaky, unused windows with cement blocks, adding sump pumps and interior french drains. Water still got into our lowest level after Main Line's work was done. And, this was after several visits. What the company did NOT do for us is what should have been done, what is really the tougher, more complex solution: preventing water from entering our basement in the first place. read more

The serviceman came out and reviewed the issue, gave a diagnosis that it was outside the scope of standard waterproofing (door seal likely bad), set up with a course of action, and all under the guise of a free estimate. Excellent experience. Waterproofing the cellar of our Center City Philadelphia townhouse was difficult. Debris and cement had to be hand carried up and down a very narrow, steep staircase. I am no longer having panic attacks when rain is in the forecast, and I wish I had contacted Main Line Waterproofing 10 years ago. I have a sloped back yard and an inset stairwell that leads down to the lower level of my house, and water gets in every time we have a significant amount of rain. I had the impression that a professional waterproofing solution would cost more than I could afford, so I tried a number of lesser measures over the years to correct the problem. They all made a little difference, but a heavy rain would still wreak havoc. I finally reached my breaking point and contacted MLW based on some of the other reviews here on Yelp. The estimator who came out was not the best communicator, and he finally acknowledged he has a hearing problem, but he seemed to know what he was doing, and he gave me a good price. The contractors who came to do the job installed a drain and sump pump to divert rainwater away from my house. These guys - Chris and his cohort - were fantastic and got the job done in a day and were as professional, communicative, and courteous as they could possibly be. We had a monsoon the very next day, and the system kicked in and did its job beautifully. Chris had given me a number to call if there were any problems, and I did need them to come back and make a couple of tweaks. They did this 2 days after I called (at no additional charge), and my system now works flawlessly. I could not be more pleased, and I have to say the cost was much lower than I expected. After my experience with Main Line Waterproofing and Herb Frye (Jr.),I have absolutely no doubt any and all positive reviews are paid for or written by their family or employees. Herb Frye is unskilled, unethical and beyond rude. He will take your money, do shoddy work and become dangerously outraged when you expect him to do the job correctly or refund your money. His idea of "waterproofing" is to send some kids to dig, wide deep trenches all around your home, down to the foundation, and then disappear for several days because he's "busy," allowing the trenches, your foundation walls and your basement to flood worse than before you hired him. Run, don't walk to any other water proofing company. When I showed him the outside walls with the loose plastic separated from the foundation wall with water behind him and the inside flooded areas that had just been renovated, he refused to look at any of them and became loud, hostile and threatening, waving his arms, so I had to step back, acting like an adolescent throwing a temper tantrum looking for something to hit or smash or throw. Frankly I was glad I had landscaper out back with me. I do not believe he would treat a male customer like that.
