My wife and I purchased our home in June in a flood zone. There was hydrostatic pressure causing foundation wall bowing. There was a sump pit and some sort of drainage system, but that thing cycled constantly day and night. The deluge of rain last month caused water to start coming up through the basement floor flooding the finished basement. The existing drain system failed. I immediately began researching reputable waterproofing companies to come out, diagnose the problem and provide a cure. The very next day I heard back from Basement Gurus. I was informed that with the influx of calls due to the local area flooding the owner of the company himself would come out that weekend to assess the issue. Dan arrived on time and got right to work inspecting the problem in the basement. He brought my wife and I upstairs and took time to explain the problem and a proposed solution. It was self-evident that the product he would be installing was quality, that they really were going to literally get to the root of the problem by digging down the foundations footer. The scope of the work described was clear: they weren't afraid to work hard and they weren't cutting any corners. He wrote up a quote within our price range and what my research indicated was more than reasonable. He felt so confident in his proposed solution and teams ability to solve the problem that he offered a lifetime transferable guarantee we would never have this problem again which was included on the contract. We felt so comfortable with the proposal that we locked in on the spot. His team arranged to come out as soon as possible and they arrived about 8 am the day of the project with about 15 guys. Wow! This guy means business. For us, this meant a great likelihood that the extensive project wouldn't drag on (unlike this review). They worked all day and were done and cleaned up by about 5. Since the job was finished the sump went from cycling every 57 seconds day and night, to cycling just once a day, 10 days later. I can finally sleep at night without hearing the water hammer from the sump pump constantly. With how often the sump was cycling I couldn't even find enough time to swap out the check valve for a quiet one. I am planning on fixing that this weekend! So far we are more than impressed. I feel confident that this problem is solved for good, and if anything goes wrong I trust that Dan and his team will make it right. This guy oozes passion for what he does and it is very clear he actually cares about the people he is serving. He is clearly knowledgeable, his team is equally extraordinary. If you have any waterproofing needs, do yourself a favor and let this guy come out to propose a solution for you. If our experience is any indication I feel confident to say that you won't regret it. I have to share my feedback about this company. I was nervous upfront about using a new company since I had my basement waterproofed 20 years ago. We extended our garage edition over about 10 feet and ripped up the entire exterior drainage system we had previously installed And we immediately started getting water and every time it rained hard in our crawlspace in our basement. Josh Reich came out to look at the job and was extremely professional but more importantly knowledgeable, very experienced and explained everything to me in great detail all the options, and exactly how the work would be done. I was very impressed with his attention to details and non pressuring to close a sale! He left the estimate and that was that. After a prior company I used years ago that I liked began pressing me a little to get on the schedule and actually charging more money and didn't go into the details Josh did, I decided to move forward with Basement Guru's and trust my gut! So glad I did! This team Erik and Armond and their crew were so professional and friendly and informative the entire 2 days there were at our house. The job literally was a 10 at every aspect, quality of work, cleanliness, and attention to details. Every room they worked in was fully taped up in order to not spread dust. They put tarps down to protect our floors They cleaned up every spec of dirt inside and outside. I mean it, this review is well deserved I will add pictures later. They waterprooofed our nasty crawlspace where the water is coming in and cleaned out every spec of dirty old wet insulation old stone annd rocks and made it look brand new! They also found some mold behind a cedar closet and simply sprayed and treated it and even were kind enough to take off the back plasterboard board and get rid of it for me. They didn't ask for more money or say that's not our job to treat, it was just done with kindness. The entire outside grass and dirt was all put back perfectly. They added water proof type board all along the side of the foundation around the house and sealed it well before putting the dirt back in the trench. Don't even think about going with a cheaper estimate. You'll be sorry if you don't use this company! Trust me. Sorry the long rant but this crew (especially in today's world) really does an amazing job above and beyond and deserved to be recognized!! 5 Star all the way!!!! Dan and everyone at the office are very professional and punctual. Lorenzo and the men that did the work are good at what they do. These guys are the professionals. I have to be honest, I initially called to have a quote for re-pointing the foundation on the inside. That's a term for replacing the mortar between the stones in a stone foundation. There were areas with quite a lot of missing mortar, and I was concerned about that. But as I researched this, it seems this is something that has to be done on a regular basis to look good. None of the stones appeared to be falling out. What I ended up getting was more worth it than I could have imagined. The vapor barrier wall keeps water at bay while also seemingly providing additional stability to the existing walls, and it looks amazing! The outside work was where BG went above and beyond. I needed demolition of an old underground wall beside the foundation which seems to be an attempt at waterproofing from decades ago. Also a storage area that was attached to the house had to go; it had much concrete under it that had to be Jack-hammered away. I had installed a piping system to take rainwater away from the house which caught all the rain spouts and the sump pump and took it to the front of the street. The problem with it was that it was running along the middle of the wall because the old storage area prevented me from putting it all under ground at the time. This was removed and replaced under ground at no cost to me. Also at no cost to me was the replacement of the outside sill plate, and a lot of additional stucco siding, all of which was rotted to the core. My house would have been in bad shape if I had waited much longer to do all of this. And of course, the waterproofing process that was installed including the tar, membrane and outer layer of insulation gives me much peace of mind that my sill plate, studs, and siding are all good for decades to come. Basements are nothing to play around with, so hire BG and save yourself money, while adding value to your home. read more

For anyone looking to get waterproofing done in their home: I moved into my house about two years ago and would get floods in my basement during every storm. I tried to fix it myself environmentally, but failed in my attempts. I then decided to finally fix the problem and get my basement waterproofed. Being relatively new to Delaware, I put in a request to get free estimates. I had a few companies come out to look at it and narrowed my choices down. Don't not trust them. They send a nice man out to sell you the waterproofing with financing. When you ask for the best water proofing option for your home it is not given. Lets go the beginning their workers broken my oil line yet where not honest to tell me. I smelled gas and when to the basement to fine lots of oil leaking. I had to have an emergency clean up. Boni an higher up at the company kept going back and forth with me. I was told it would be taken care of. It was taken care of but at their leisure. I requested a check for my clean up and oil lost. Again, Boni wants do go back and forth about what was owed. They sent the check finally. Im the mist of everything Boni says something along the lines of " Oh the line was broke bc it was hidden". Now, water has come into my basement about 2 ft or more. I have been trying for a solution with them for about 2 months. Boni only emails. I have asked for a call back from the owner yet none. I keep getting the run around. Now, oil from the line is leaking at both connections. This company is crooked. They try to sell you with a supposed lifetime guarantee that they do not honor, really. The cost was about 7500.00. Run, turn a blind eye to them. I know they have done this to others. Why? An honest company would have resolved all issues by now not make excuses. One of the best experiences I have had as a homeowner, hands down. In February 2020, we had a flood in our basement due to a clog in the sewage pipe. At the time, we did not realize that this had caused mold to spore. Our home started to have a strange smell and soon we made a realization that we had to do something about it. I first met with John to go over my basement and all my water issues in my basement which mind you is built in 1965. He looked over everything and explained what he saw and explained the system that would resolve my issues. We purchased our home in June 2021, and noticed a damp smell whenever it rained. Upon further inspection of our crawl space, we noticed a lot of damp spots and the sump pump was not effective. I discovered that the underground pipe from my rainspouts was clogged. We tried to unclog it ourselves, but we could not. I was going to try to dig it out, but I thought otherwise. I called several contractors, but they were not within my budget. I found Basement Gurus and they came out and gave me an estimate on the same day. We set up a day to have the project completed. It turns out, they called me a few days later and could come out and do the project right away. His guys arrived and had the pipe replaced as well as another on the other side of our front yard. You could barely see where they had dug the trenches. I have not had any problems with either of the drains since they were installed last fall. This review is way overdue, but better late than never! Basement Gurus did an outstanding job installing a French drain system in our basement in 2021! Our basement had water coming in for years through the floor and walls. It was just a damp unusable space. For 3 years now, we have enjoyed a perfectly dry basement. I purchased a house that had shoddy waterproofing in place. When I discovered a lot of water in my basement I called Basement Gurus. Our church had water leaking into the basement for some time. The Gurus gave a quote and did an awesome job. No more water leaking into the northern wall of the basement! The next heavy rain there was some leakage on the north corner of the east wall. We all thought the water from the north wall was running along the ceiling grid and down the corner of the east wall.
