To make a long story short, Steve sold me a 7k sump pump installation after his assessment revealed my small puddles of water on basement floor was water coming up from foundation around a steel support beam. After installation, water continued to puddle in same areas and ironically and unfortunately after the fact, noticed water dripping from pressure relief pipe on back of furnace. placed a bowl underneath, needless to say water collected in bowl instead of my basement floor. Steve stated jackjhammering must have knocked something loose and would send plumber to fix. I was suspicious that this was the culprit all along. Plumber arrived stated no way jackhammer was responsible for what was wrong with furnace. Basically due to old original pipes, in need of updating and replacement, furnace has been running with high pressures therefore spewing water out that pressure relief pipe, anywhere from drops to 2 cups depending how often furnace ran. which was often as it has been a cold winter. I spoke with Boni regarding some type of compromise as I strongly believe Steve misdiagnosed jump the gun and ordered up a sump pump without accurately tracking water or ruling out other possibilities. Company refused to comporomise and continues to insist jackhammering was responsible for water dripping, eventhough I had 4 copper pipes replaced and 2 new valves and purging of air out of them to make it run more efficiently. Boni told me she would escalate this matter to the owner, never happened I also requested a copy of the plumber repair report , not once, but 5 times via email, text and voicemails to Boni as well as the owner. I have been totally ignored. All I ask at this point is records of repairs performed on MY furnace, yet for some reason, they refuse to give it to me. Yes i have a brand new sump pump, will I ever use it? probably not. I could have spent that money on repairs that I really needed. I also had HVAC company and another waterproof company come and assess with the info I gave them and the timing of when everything occurred, both parties concurred with my thinking. Lesson learned especially as a single female that can be vulnerable to these situations, definitely seek 2nd opinions. I thought sump pump was overkill for a few small water puddles popping up here and there. Should have went with my gut instinct. read more

When we purchased our home a year and half ago, the crawl space in our home was in pretty bad shape. It was poorly insulated, was retaining higher humidity and full of debris from the previous owner. As the following year progressed, we started getting a little water from time to time due to heavy rains. During this time my wife and I realized it was time to do something about it. Last October 2021, I started getting quotes from various local basement contractors, Basement Guru's was one of them. When I called Basement Guru's, they responded quickly and were able to set up a consultation in a matter of days. Dan Kelly (Proprietor) came out to my home and conducted a vigorous evaluation of my crawlspace. While interacting with Dan, he took the time to really explain the situation in my crawlspace and together we created a plan of action that I felt comfortable with. Additionally, Dan was extremely competitive in his pricing when compared to other quotes. Within a couple of days, my wife and I agreed to the terms and went forward with Basement Guru's. Due to high demand, Dan's team started about a month later but they were swift and had the job done in only two days. I was extremely impressed with how fast Basement Guru's worked and attacked the project. In the end, we had all debris removed, a French Drain installed, Sum Pump, sprayed our floor joists with an anti-microbial, insulation installed between the floor joists, rebuilt a wall dividing a room, Regrouted, Parged foundation pillars, installed a vapor barrier and roughcasted my stone foundation walls. Additionally, we had a dehumidifier installed. As of January 2022, our crawlspace has been dry and maintaining good humidity levels. The only issue we had during the project was that the team members did not effectively protect our tile floors leading to the crawlspace from dust and debris. This resulted in my wife and I having to spend additional money to clean and remedy the problem. This was addressed with Dan Kelly. When I brought this issue up, Dan was extremely responsive and made good on compensating this added expense. Dans actions to fix the issue showed his true integrity which these days means more and more. In the end, I would highly recommend Basement Guru's for your basement and crawlspace needs! read more

TL;DR: Listen to Josh and Basement Gurus. He's honest, and they work with integrity. Unbeatable price for the product and service you get. I had Josh and his crews out to do multiple projects for me after noticing worsening water intrusion in my home. At first, water was simply coming in around one conduit / service entrance. Josh recommended that I essentially re-seal that entire foundation wall. I initially scoffed at the size of that project, but I should have just listened to his wisdom!! They did indeed came out and patched up the area that was causing me issues. And next storm, that area was indeed dry. But what does water do? That's right... it just keeps flowing until if finds the next weak point. So more and more leaks on that wall started happening. Josh came back out to talk to me about what he would recommend. I had my GC out as well to get a second opinion - and they both essentially agreed on what the correct solution was. Except that Josh and Basement Gurus offered more, with a better timeline, and still came in a little under my GC's price. He even offered a slight discount based on the work that was already done in the one area already. Super appreciated that!! So we did the whole 9-yards: dug down to the foundation footing, resealed that entire foundation wall with several layers of product, put in a french drain system, an outdoor sump, and routed all of that and two of my downspouts to a brand new drywell far from my house. Overkill? Maybe. But after chatting with my neighbors, I learned that everyone was having water and drainage issues in this area and they've had to do similar. So OK, worth it. The crew were incredibly fast doing all of this. And I went out and periodically inspected: they did great workmanship too. Next storms: Basement was completely dry! Hooray! So completely dry that a day or two later... uh oh. I have no running water in my house! My well line was apparently clipped by accident and over the repeated use in the 48 hours that followed, the cable burnt out. And yes, we had 811 called prior and everything, but a flag on the grass doesn't tell you precisely where the cable will be 6ft underground. It was an accident. I had a temp patch put in by my well company. But I called up Boni at the office, explained the situation, and Basement Gurus were back out on the scene to make things right (i.e. this was on them / their warranty). They brought their electrician of choice out to install a completely new pump electrical line. Been working great ever since. This level of integrity in a contracting business has felt hard to find lately. But working with Josh and Boni, I felt like I was taken care of. These guys are busy, so sometimes you do need to shoot them a text to get a status update or to remind them about something - but they're always so gracious about it and are happy to get you what you need. So even after the little issue I had with my pump line, I had them back out for a third job to fix up the north side of my house and replace an existing drywell that had become clogged and saturated over the years. As usual, the price was great, the workmanship amazing, and was completed quickly. I don't anticipate any more water issues any time soon. But if I do, I know who I'm calling. Briefly, my basement was doing its thing only about 2 years into living in the place--completely newly refurbished home, with lots of water in the basement whenever it rained. In a finished basement nonetheless, thankfully it was tiles and not carpet. It was hard to know where the water was coming from. It happened only when it rained (a lot of water) of course, but to know where the water may be coming from, good luck. Read a lot and research everything and you realize that's just how water is...it would come in and getting to find its source is beyond challenging. At this point, it is about solving the problem. I researched a ton of different options and basement flooding experts and trust me there are a lot out there of options and fixers out there. I am trying to make this brief but it is hard without telling some stories. Think of all the nightmares you have with a flooded or flooding basement (sometimes scooping out over 200 gallons of water!) and after fixing it, it doesn't get solved. Dan [Basement Gurus] will answer all your questions and tell you about the work they are going to do and what others do so you not only get this inexhaustive list of the options before you, but help you know you are making the best decision even if it doesn't turn out as such. It was good work, within a day, explained thoroughly and cleaned out completely by the next day. And they don't harass you for payment. Your word literally is your bond. I was surprised after they had done the work that they were not blowing up my phone for a deposit ahead of time or after the work was done. So much trust they are just good professionals. Close to a year now, and the sump pump has not really seen any work because the French drain is doing so much of the work already that the sump pump may be sad. I can't tell everything but as I write this review, I am filled with honest appreciation for the work they did and for America--because there are still honest and great workers here in the country. I have to share my feedback about this company. I was nervous upfront about using a new company since I had my basement waterproofed 20 years ago. We extended our garage edition over about 10 feet and ripped up the entire exterior drainage system we had previously installed And we immediately started getting water and every time it rained hard in our crawlspace in our basement. Josh Reich came out to look at the job and was extremely professional but more importantly knowledgeable, very experienced and explained everything to me in great detail all the options, and exactly how the work would be done. I was very impressed with his attention to details and non pressuring to close a sale! He left the estimate and that was that. After a prior company I used years ago that I liked began pressing me a little to get on the schedule and actually charging more money and didn't go into the details Josh did, I decided to move forward with Basement Guru's and trust my gut! So glad I did! This team Erik and Armond and their crew were so professional and friendly and informative the entire 2 days there were at our house. The job literally was a 10 at every aspect, quality of work, cleanliness, and attention to details. Every room they worked in was fully taped up in order to not spread dust. They put tarps down to protect our floors They cleaned up every spec of dirt inside and outside. I mean it, this review is well deserved I will add pictures later. They waterprooofed our nasty crawlspace where the water is coming in and cleaned out every spec of dirty old wet insulation old stone annd rocks and made it look brand new! They also found some mold behind a cedar closet and simply sprayed and treated it and even were kind enough to take off the back plasterboard board and get rid of it for me. They didn't ask for more money or say that's not our job to treat, it was just done with kindness. The entire outside grass and dirt was all put back perfectly. They added water proof type board all along the side of the foundation around the house and sealed it well before putting the dirt back in the trench. Don't even think about going with a cheaper estimate. You'll be sorry if you don't use this company! Trust me. Sorry the long rant but this crew (especially in today's world) really does an amazing job above and beyond and deserved to be recognized!! 5 Star all the way!!!! This company was great. When hiring contractors it often feels like trying to solve a mystery about everything from price, to timeline, to how to get them on the phone. Not the case with this company! Phil came out explained exactly what the coats would be for each piece of the job from repair through restoration after we had flooding. The price was very reasonable and work for started right away. When an unexpected issue came up that had to be addressed before repairs could continue, we were given multiple options at different price points to fix it. At no time were decision points made into high pressure sales pitches. Our contractor Jose was reliable, professional, and respectful of our home. Bonnie who worked with scheduling the work was easy to reach whenever we needed. Couldn't be happier with the end results. Had mold remediation done through out the whole basement; had a French drain system put in; and had the walls parged and resurfaced. It looks beautiful and feels clean and dry as a bone. I know our basement is completely waterproofed now - which is great peace of mind! Dan Kelly says he will address any issues in the system. We had flooding due to poor drainage. Dan helped design a system to divert the water around and further away from our finished basement. When the system was overwhelmed in heavy downpour, they came back out to attempt necessary changes to keep water out of the basement. update since December 2020, Unfortunately the drainage work done is overwhelmed and overflowed again - not working after they were back out twice to address other issues. A simple swail is needed to be added to handle the influx of storm water in heavy downpours as requested the past 7 months but they have yet to schedule the final repairs. They left us high and dry $8200 later saying, "Acts of God are not covered" they do not know how to keep water away and out of basements even on high ground like we are. Cannot recommend. read more

I was getting water in my basement so I hired these people to install a drain system and a sump pump. Since it was installed in late May I have had water in my basement on several occasions. I paid $4200.00 for this system. They have been out several times and I'm still having a problem. When they come out to "repair" the system they are sometimes an hour and a half late for the appointment. I have spent countless hours waiting for them to arrive only to have the problem reoccur. The basement of our new home was flooded back in the Fall of 2020, only 1 month after moving in! We hired a plumbing company to 'fix' the issue and they 'guaranteed' that we wouldn't get any more water down there again. We believed them and then proceeded to pay a bunch of money to re-do the basement. Cut to this past March and waddaya know? We got more water intrusion. Beneath the new floorboards we'd installed. This time, we realized we needed to call a basement proofing company. We called a few and it was obvious from the beginning that Basement Gurus was on a different level. Ashley came over and looked at our basement, listened to our story and what we were looking for, she was thorough in her explanation of EXACTLY what needed to be done, and she right then and there gave us a very reasonable estimate for the work. She put our minds at ease and we decided right then and there to sign the contract and put down a deposit. The work that the guys did the following week was stellar. Not only that, but they covered everything that was down there and really treated our basement and home with respect and didn't 'destroy' the place. Full disclosure: there was one thing that didn't seem finished, regarding the work and fixing all the issues we had paid for. But very much to the credit of all the people at Basement Gurus, including the owner himself, they were on it asap and sent people right back to correct the issue.
