Just as many other posts, Mitchel G., the owner, is probably one of the worst customer service individuals I've dealt with in a lifetime. His company is an authorized Regency Fireplace dealer. For those thinking of having a fireplace installed, DO NOT put a Regency unit in your home! They're horrible and do not hold up. An inferior product and customer service is absolutely the worst. For a warranty claim, they make you go through the dealer and unfortunately you're stuck with people like Mitchel. He's rude, hangs the phone up on you during conversations and tells you he doesn't have time for you. The guy's a miserable person that shouldn't be in business. Honestly, it's relieving to have someone come and do quality work. It's hard to come by these days or maybe just the reality of a new home owner? In any event, Creative did a great job. I have a gas fireplace and had the remote system changed out and a service done (cleaning, replacement of embers, etc). It looks so much nicer than before. Wonderful job all around. He came to our house to see what we had and measured to make sure what we wanted would work. The installation crew that he uses was wonderful to work with and did not blink an eye when we made a change. Unbelievable and offensive behavior is what we got from Creative. Many promises were made and Mitch seemed to be on top of things. However, this turned out to not be the case. This was the most unprofessional and confusing experience of my life. Mitch has been nothing but disrespectful and especially condescending to my fiancé and I. He literally just screamed at me at the top of his lungs on the phone. Apparently, he is not capable of handling the commitments that he makes. He even took it a step further and insisted that I sue him instead of just finishing the job. He heaven threatened us with a legal loss. Please do respond to me Mitch or family. This will fall on deaf ears and is a moot point. Please consider this a warning to not do any business with Creative or Mitch. Simply an unbelievable time trying to have a simple thing done. Thousands of dollars later, three days of people coming and going, and all I have is try is partially installed insert. read more

We started working with Creative Fireplace in July when the owner Mitch came to measure our fireplace and discuss our options. All seemed reasonable and we gave the initial deposit. We started the town permit process since we were moving from a wood burning fireplace to gas. When the fireplace initially was installed it was obviously measured wrong since there was a 3" open gap at the top of the backplate. Mitch claimed his manufacturer sent the wrong backplate. This was the first of his lies. He next had another 3 sided backplate installed where the backplate had a 7" top whereas the sides were only 3 1/2". We were expecting a 4 sided picture frame style backplate with even dimensions all around. The installed fireplace looked ridiculous. The entire reason we went with Creative Fireplace is we were made to feel comfortable and assumed since they were the experts they would install a fireplace that was symmetrical and looked terrific. No less than 3 times did Mitch lie and say he had the new backplate ordered. He also demanded final payment even though the town permit process stated that under no circumstances should final payment be made to the contractors until all inspections were complete. He was rude and yelled at my wife and I and threatened to call the police for the final balance. Once we finally passed all inspections we paid in full with the understanding the 4-sided backplate would be ordered and installed by Thanksgiving. This he promised to me in writing via text. I asked to see the backplate order to his manufacturer since I knew I needed to confirm his specs since he never sent a promised drawing with the dimensions. The first backplate order to the mfg he again neglected to indicate it was to be a 4-sided backplate. The second order had the wrong dimensions. The third order was finally correct. They received the backplate 10 days before Thanksgiving but never came to install it despite his promise and my follow ups. Finally I needed to contact their contracted plumber to come and raise the fireplace and install the backplate. In all, the process took four months. We have never had a more unpleasant experience from a contractor or retail store. Mitch claims he installed the backplate as per the mfgs specs but that may have been for a standard fireplace opening. He obviously never measured for the entire fireplace opening and never admitted his mistake. He was rude, incompetent and he repeatedly lied to us. He will lie to you as well. Do yourself a favor and find another store / fireplace installer / service technician that won't cause headaches. Sorry for the long review but you deserve better. I had their service 8 days ago to fix my Gas Fireplace which was not igniting sometimes. Absolutely no fix was offered other than changing the whole control board or get a new fireplace. I paid them $100 of show up fee (by check) and they didn't even provide a receipt. I was told that they would get back with an estimate which they never did. Yesterday I called the manufacturer and they asked me to do a simple tweak (took like 5 minutes) which solved my problem and now Fireplace starts each time! DON'T WAST YOUR TIME, unlike I Did!! read more

I live in California but visiting mother-in-law in Manhattan and her remote controlled gas fireplace was in need of a "tune-up". I went to yelp to find someone and noted Creative Fireplace's quality reviews. I called to see if they serviced Manhattan. It was a bit too long of a hall for my small job but they took me through the problem and told me how to fix it myself. Remotes and servo motors isn't rocket science but I am not a big home do-it-yourselfer. Regardless, with their instruction I felt confident going forward. They spent their time helping me. Best service. It was above and beyond. The gas fireplace kept us warm during the last blackout. The next snowstorm I had trouble lightning the pilot and Mitchell drove in the snow and lit it for me. After shopping around with several different fireplace stores, we finally landed with Central Jersey Fireplace. We were looking to add a gas fireplace to our home, which required some construction work because we were starting with a blank canvas. Mitch was wonderful to work with and helped make the project happen for us. First, he sold us on a very high quality Regency clean edge fireplace which was worth every penny. The unit not only looks amazing, but has all the quality features we were looking for. Second, Mitch worked within our budget and allowed me to use my own contractor for portions of the project.
