Utter nightmare! I've worked with them in the past several times and there's always been a bit of challenge to work with them but this time has been the worlds largest disaster of no communication Wrong products botched times it's just so frustrating. They pulled a fast one and when I went to pick up my flooring none of it was in the original boxes, the reason they did this, it seems, is because it was the wrong flooring and their installer installed it and I didn't realize it until it was already in that was the wrong finish. They swore they checked every plank it was the exact same thing but it turned out that was a lot of crap. I strongly urge you to look elsewhere unless you love dealing with giant headaches and being misled. Attached are screenshots of my conversation with one of the inept children there. Unreal. 9/26/18-after four days of silence after proposing a remedy to the situation I texted her again yesterday to follow up and you'll see from the additional 4 screenshots that I'm adding her not so professional way of handling the situation. So basically they've screwed me out of a lot of money and I'm left with a bad non-matching floor. I strongly urge you to consider any other flooring distributor but these guys. These guys were terrific! My brother and I had started this project ourselves. We demoed the old carpet, tiles and linoleum in my living room, dining room, kitchen and hallway. We started to lay the new laminate flooring I had gotten from Home Depot and ran into a number of problems. This might look easy but unless you have experience with floor installation, it can be very difficult and challenging. We struggled along for a few days until my brother had to go back home up north. The next day I continued by myself for a few hours before I broke down and decided there was no way I could finish this job without help. That's when I called Affordable Floor Installation. Mor was in charge and he was just great. He assessed my situation and complimented me on my progress so far. He was being kind. He and his workers Mauricio and Bayron assured me they could finish up the job and have it done by the end of the day and that they did. They were professional, safe, courteous and attentive to every nook and cranny of my floors. They even installed new baseboards for me as well. The end result is that my house looks fantastic. I can't thank Mor and his crew enough. The bottom line is Affordable Floor Installation is just that. Affordable, honest, reliable, professionals who care about their work and their customers. I recommend this company highly and will definitely be using them again to do our floors in the master bedroom and baby's room. read more

We were SO upset with this company and the two people running it. Ben and Starla...(?) So many unfulfilled promises and disappointments, I can't even keep track. We ordered carpet and rigid core flooring from them. The carpet installation was needing to be done by a certain date and they 100% guaranteed they could do it, which was literally the tie breaker between them and another company that was a little more expensive, but clearly more reliable. The date he promised to install it, he was over 4 hours late and when he showed up, NO Carpet!!?? The excuse was due to a holiday, the warehouse closed early and they were unable to pick it up. Keep in mind we had rearranged our work schedule to be home for this install and delayed other important plans (such as moving into our other place). Then after giving Ben the benefit of the doubt, (because we are nice and gracious people) we waited until the next date available which was about 4-5 days later and again, he was about 2-3 hours late. The poor guy he hired to rip up our carpet was on time, and again gave him the benefit of the doubt that the carpet would come later. Once the old carpet was removed, this guy was twiddling his thumbs waiting as was I. We were supposed to have people move in that evening (remember the original install date was much earlier in the week) and Ben hadn't ordered enough carpet. So, when the carpet did arrive the job couldn't be completed. We were so upset because this was literally the third strike. We had to explain to our tenants, "sorry, you can't move your furniture in yet. Oh and try not to step on a nail, this should get finished within the next few days." Meanwhile we were trying to move into our place. So, we just had to take it on faith they would get the job done and our tenants would be happy. The other horrible part, was they under-ordered the carpet and over-ordered the rigid core flooring. When we asked about the obvious overage they said they had to order that amount, and no option for refund even though we knew it was too much. So frustrating. Yes, I understand that mistakes happen and we can be patient. But one of the most disappointing parts was that there was little to NO communication. I had to hound him and call his cell phone over and over again. I called over 15 times once until he finally called me back. I know that is extreme, but this was after he had left his third promise unfulfilled and had a habit of not calling to let me know where he was or what was going on. Also, I had many other service people waiting for this carpet to arrive. When we asked for some compensation for all the trouble and what we felt was them not holding to their commitments, they refused to budge and said the prices were already so low, there was no room for any discount or compensation. Granted, they were friendly enough through the process, yet overall unprofessional and completely broke our trust. I would NOT recommend them to anyone and would NOT use them again. read more

If I could I would give these guys NO STAR period. My experience with this company started off ok however they were really poor at communicating. They did not return phone calls nor did they send confirmation of deposit or starting date UNTIL I complained. They actually gave me a reference who I called in Seal Beach. They lady was very sweet and said they did an ok job. Then she said "well maybe I'm too picky but the baseboards where all messed up". I should have stopped right there and backed out but I thought "I can control this outcome if I stay involved" and give them a chance. On day of install they called me at 10am and informed me the had received the wrong flooring. MY question is why would you not inspect what was received when delivered and WHY wouldn't you cross your tee's and dot your i's and plan the job. I had a deadline and informed them I needed confirmation in advance and if not COMPLETED there would be a 10% penalty for each day. This was confirmed in an email. WE HAD TO RESCHEDULE. Day one was demolition which was cut slightly short because the noise to neighbor. Day two, day of installation they were 2 hours late and showed up with a couple of extra guys just in order to finish on time. I left for a few hours for my volunteer work and came back to what was looking like a possible finished job by end of day. I helped cleaning up dust and glue and by 5pm he handed me the SATISFACTION SURVEY. MAJOR MISTAKE - I PLEAD WITH ANYBODY NOT TO FILL THIS OUT PERIOD!!!!! Being tired covered in dust you tend to do an overall quick look and I guarantee you, you will miss their complete BUTCHED up WORK. I hope you as a consumer will JUDGE THEIR WORK BY THESE PICS and make a sound intelligent decision. Also, they did not leave left-over tiles or grouting behind (the bag should have been more than half full). I found out TWO things: When grouting the bathroom they did a poor job and missed around the toilet outlet. When installing the toilet I had no grouting to fill in what they missed which meant my plumber and I had to grout again by buying more grout. They broke my bathtub facet which explains when the tiler was cleaning up bathtub of dust he was reaching to the bathroom sink to get water. IF you have any questions and would like to see their work in person please do not hesitate to reach out. I do not know if I have the strength to take this to SCC or if it's even worth the money. I rather EDUCATE any POTENTIAL customer of this company to pay a little extra and not have the POOR experience which I guarantee is best to avoid. read more

I had used these folk a few years ago when Steve was involved. I don't think he's part of the picture now. My daughter used them too so I had great confidence and did not seek other bidders. The problems began with trying to communicate after we got the quote. For over a week calls were not answered, answering machines were full, and the cell phone for Ben went unanswered. Finally I found business card from the previous work and called it. Someone said they'd relay my interest in following up to the office. They were very cooperative in scheduling their visits around my work and travel schedule. The crew arrived as expected but was confused about the work to be done, asking me if it was a floating or glued floor. Shouldn't they know? Also the open stairway was confusing to them and their solution was not as discussed earlier. Once we got the job understood (three flights of stairs, and a hallway) work proceeded well. They worked hard and long each day but two days turned into three. No problem, take the time, do it right. Finally done and cleaned up. I went to work doing some trim painting. That's when I found the poor workmanship. Unfilled holes where they'd used wire nails in the flooring, gaps in the silicon grout, bits of adhesive on the walls and flooring. Here's the difference. I had a work light so I could see what I was doing. They were working with the limited hallway lighting, and twice I had to turn the lights for them when it got dark. They could not see what they were doing but just kept working. The transition to the carpeting was just cut off and the carpet nailed to the subfloor. Since they did not include t-moldings the crew just cut and nailed the carpet. Never asked, never questioned why no t-moldings. So I called for them to do some rework. They came and filled the hole I pointed out and SOME of the nail holes. But still they had no work light and I'm not loaning mine. (My tools disappear when I loan them to contractors.) I would have thought they'd inspect the whole job for rework. I am resigned to buying some matching silicone and finishing the job myself, and cleaning up more adhesive. A day after they left I found a soda can and an empty water bottle in my yard, and bits of flooring where they did their cutting. Today I was working in the yard when something stuck to the bottom of my shoe. I expected some gum or likewise. I had stepped on a 1" sq piece of the carpet tack strip from the old carpeting with the nail pointing straight up into my shoe. LuckilyI was not in sandals or my grandkids were playing around. In the end, the work looks good. It was just a struggle to get to this point. There must be someone competent to do the job right the first time and bring enough work lights to see what they are doing. read more

Great customer service with good communication! We interviewed a few companies for our patio flooring project - they are fairly priced and had the tile we wanted in their warehouse so our project was completed in a timely fashion. The start day of our project happened to fall on the one day out of the year it pours in Southern California (of course) so we had to push back the start date a few days. It was only a 1.5 day project and they were so nice they even came out to finish on a Sunday! So greatly appreciate it. They did an excellent job - very professional, very clean. Grout lines were perfect and they didn't get any on the surrounding walls. They even neatly wound up our hose after the project (it's the little things). Would definitely recommend! read more

If you are shopping for carpet in the North OC area, Steve the owner has pretty much the lowest price for the best quality around. I've checked a few myself and he easily was better than Lowe's, even when they had the free installation for the whole house. We got the Tuftex, which was a Shaw type carpet, and it felt nice on our feet at the initial sales pitch. Steve was easy to work with. The installer, Jose, was pretty good for the most part tearing up some of the old carpet and putting up the side boards pretty fast. However, Jose and another guy took pretty much the whole day installing our carpet and had to come back twice for minor jobs. One of those was he accidentally tored up part of the baseboard and he basically had to cut and fit another piece on the stairs. I wasn't too happy about it at first but at least, he came back and finished the job, albeit 2 weeks later. That is what I like to see, people taking pride in their jobs. Affordable floors are OK in my book. The job wasn't perfect, but it was close. I would definitely use them again. read more

As a general contractor myself, I got a referral from a friend as I need critical engineered flooring replaced for my client in Laguna Niguel, resulting from some minor water damage. The new flooring needs to replace what was removed in the middle of the surrounding floor. The term is called lacing in good floor planks where damaged planks were removed. On the edge of a floor is easy. In the middle of a floor is critical. Ben came out and gave me a professional evaluation and a price that I was very happy to accept. A previous bid came in over 3 times more. A subsequent bid came in a little less but the last contractor knew the range of Ben's bid - so he beat it. I'm hiring Affordable Floors. read more

Horrible experience - Had carpet and laminate flooring done with this company. Laminate warped within a month, but Steve claimed it was our fault due to moisture and said we'd have to pay to get all of it re-done! I called another flooring company for a second opinion, and they said this company installed it too tight and glued the planks wrong but fixed this mess... for free! I tipped the guy generously because he wouldn't take my money. Fast forward a couple of years and all the carpet they installed is rippling. We're very happy and impressed with our new kitchen & bathroom floors! Special thanks to Affordable Floors, the owner Steve, and his hard working crew. One day, we came home to find a flyer posted on our front door. The flyer stated that they could beat all competitor's prices in the neighborhood. As soon as we read the flyer, we were sold so we immediately called Steve to make an appointment & a free estimate. He was very professional, friendly, honest and fast. He took measurements in our entire kitchen & 3 bathrooms using a Bluetooth Measurement device that was linked to his computer. We received the estimate that same hour. The measurements were very accurate and saved us a whole lot of time. Steve gave us a variety of options for our floors. We chose the Appalachian Vintage Classic Hickory kitchen floors and the African Porcelain Slate tiles for our bathrooms. When the project was completed we didn't have a lot of leftover tiles and flooring. We love knowledgable, honest and hard working individuals! We've been shopping around for beautiful laminate wood floors for a couple months now, but other companies were shady and tried to overcharge us. The BEST thing about our experience with Affordable Floors is that they completed the project in less than 2 days! Starla said, "sorry but I do not...I would try local flooring providers". I thought that's what Affordable Floors was when I searched Tile Installation on Yelp! While I understand minimums, however a good business person would have a alternative suggestion/recommendation of another contractor that could do the job. That guy might have a job too big for him and throw some business back to Affordable. This is just my opinion, take it for what it's worth. This review covers my experience getting a quote Pros: on time & responsive to phone calls Cons: Limited selection, the rep gave me too much of a sales pitch and did not show much flexibility or willingness to please customers, interrupted or spoke over us when we tried to ask questions, AND made a seriously offensive remark about Chinese people (my wife and I are Chinese). These are my subjective opinions but I will explain as objectively as possible: Yes, they were cheaper than the other quotes I have gotten. They called prior to arriving with their ETA, were on time, and responsive over the phone. But I found it interesting that another reviewer decided to hire this company even before they saw the price, because we had decided NOT to hire them even before we saw the price. And that was before the offensive remark was made. Their rep came for an estimate. He mapped the floors taking much longer than any other contractor I've had over (no big deal I suppose). We talked about what color/material we wanted (a lighter colored engineered wood), and out of the small van there was only 1 sample they carried that was close. Out of interest we went to the truck to see their samples and it was limited compared to other companies. The rep then questioned us if there was anything that we saw that he missed when he brought in samples. No...........but we just wanted to take a look. I asked if they could install if we bought our own materials (so we could have the flooring we actually wanted) and the response was no. The reason was: "if there is an issue, the manufacturer is going to point the finger at us [the installer], and we're going to point the finger at the manufacturer". I understand if you only want to use quality materials and/or want to ensure labor quality by using materials you know how to work with, but his response didn't give me high confidence in their customer service. He made it sound like they would not try very hard to address any issues. He made this point multiple times throughout the appointment. On the same topic, the reason they have a limited selection was that they buy in bulk or negotiate good deals, but one interesting thing he said was "if we gave people what they wanted we'd have to change our name from 'Affordable Floors' to 'Give customers what they want and make their dreams come true'. OK.....so you don't give people what they want so you can be affordable, but I want flooring that I will be happy with when I'm going to drop this much cash. Again, this kind of comment didn't give me confidence in their customer service. I asked the rep to quote us the price if we bought & installed our own baseboards. He then said I should stick to [my occupation], and let them do the baseboard work. OK.........well some people like DIY projects. Maybe I want to go choose my own baseboards (they only had 3 options) or do the work myself to save a little money. I typically don't like these kinds of comments where contractors will try to pressure you do things their way. He wasn't overbearing, but I would rather hear, "yes, we can do whatever you want". In general the whole appointment felt like more of a sales pitch, whereas I'd like a contractor meeting to be more like: this is what we will do and this is how much it will cost. At the very end, somehow we got on the topic of Aluminum Oxide (a common finish used for engineered wood?). Let me preface this with the fact that my wife and I are both Chinese and yes, we look obviously Chinese or at least Asian if you really can't tell. The rep said, with a straight face, "They don't make this stuff in the States because it's toxic, so they make it in China because they have so many people, IF THEY LOSE A FEW, IT'S OK." He said this in a straightforward matter-of-fact tone without skipping a beat; nothing to indicate it was a "joke". I don't think he meant any harm, he was friendly the whole time, even though I didn't like his sales pitch. But I was SHOCKED you would say this to the face of a potential customer. I was so shocked I didn't know whether to turn around and end our conversation right there, or ask him why he thought it was OK to say people of my ethnicity dying from poisoning was OK. The next day I called the owner to recount this comment. He didn't sound surprised, but he did apologize. But he was not shocked and did not apologize profusely. I don't expect him to grovel and beg forgiveness (well, maybe I do given the royal screw up his employee made), but I did expect a little more than the "Oops, sorry" tone I received. So, before the offensive remark, they get 2 stars: "Meh, I've experienced better". I think this is perfectly fair for the reasons I outlined. I would NOT rate my experience "A-OK". After the comment, I would take away at least 1 star from the review. Since Yelp's lowest rating is 1 star, that's what they get. If I could rate 0 stars I would seriously consider it. read more

Bad experience. Part of my hardwood floor was damaged due to an A/C leak and I was looking for a company that could replace just the damaged section. Their Account Exec inspected my hardwood floor damage and, by using a measuring gadget and a printer in his vehicle, was able to show me floor plans and provide me with a quote. He stated that Affordable Floors could match my existing hardwood flooring and said he'd never received a complaint. He was charming, I believed him, and I signed the contract. Little did I know then the disaster I was headed toward. They used an electric saw in my house which set off the smoke alarm. They told me that the new floor boards had to acclimate to the temperature of my house...for 24 hours. Note: when it turned out not enough flooring had been ordered, the new supply wasn't required to be acclimated. One day, Steve (the owner of this company) scheduled workers to arrive at my house at 2 p.m. the following day. I decided to work in the morning and leave my office at noon so I'd be at home in the afternoon. At 8:25 a.m. the following day, 5 minutes before I arrived at my office, Steve called me to say his workers were 10 minutes from arriving at my house. Really??? Don't most people have to request time off and make sure their work is covered? Steve called me twice to ask what color stain I'd decided on for my flooring. The first time, I told him "no stain." The second time, I asked if he had access to my contract because it clearly stated that my floorboards were not to be stained. Just before the workers were about to leave my home on the last day, I got to inspect their work. Finding scratches on the baseboards wasn't a surprise, but I did not expect paint to be scratched off door frames 2 feet from the floor or the startling amount of plaster damage to my hallway walls. Steve refused to fix it. Instead, to hide part of the damage, he offered me wider baseboards as a "free upgrade." I don't consider them to be free and, when they don't match the rest of the baseboards in my house, they sure aren't an upgrade. It was another day or two before I realized the new floor boards do not match my original floor boards. The new floor boards will need to be removed and replaced some day in the future before I sell my house. I worked long and hard to be able to purchase my house and I cherish it. Affordable Floors did not respect me or my home. Steve was incredibly rude to me on the phone (I actually hung up on him...on two different occasions!) and gave me a hard time when I tried to ask questions. If you need new floors, you owe it to yourself to get a quote from Steve at Affordable Floors, this guy doesn't mess around. He comes to your house, does measurements in like 5 minutes, goes back out to his van and literally prints out full quotes for you to review right then! If you've ever dealt with contractors, you know that getting a quote can take weeks, but not with Steve. By the time I had Steve come out I had already gotten quotes from Lowes and another floor contractor, so when I saw Steve's quote my eyes almost popped out of my head, his prices were THAT much lower! He was also really helpful in finding ways for us to save money on our project, like suggesting we refinish floors in some rooms and stain them to match new floors, instead of buying all new floors. Now if you asked me, I'd say we had a pretty complicated project, we had floors that needed to matched, floors that needed to be refinished, custom 2 inch oak, stairs, and carpet, and Affordable Floors did ALL of it beautifully. Plus we were able to get the entire project done in one week while we were out on vacation! The way Steve runs his business is so streamlined and efficient, nothing like I've experienced with other contractors. He collected a 10% deposit to secure the dates, then once the materials were delivered he collected a materials fee, then after the work was done and approved we gave him the final check, done and done. Steve came to our house 3 times to work with us on product and even went out of his way to find the wood-look tile we ended up choosing, ultimately having to have it shipped down from San Francisco. We had a small hiccup during installation (miscommunication on stair carpeting style). I will detail my full experience below, but suffice it to say, Affordable Floors should be your first choice when it comes to your flooring installation needs. It is rare that you will encounter a business of this caliber. Full Experience: If you are thinking of installing new floors, be it carpet, hardwood, or tile, give Steve a call to get an estimate. You may be directed to voice mail if he and his crew are busy in the field, but he's generally very responsive. Steve will set up an appointment with you and send someone to your home or business to take measurements. Even if you are hesitant and just looking for estimates over the phone, make this appointment because accurate measurements by a professional are the only realistic way to get an accurate quote. This, I must mention, is a huge benefit to using Affordable Floors because the estimate is absolutely free while most flooring companies will charge you for an in home estimate. When the Affordable Floor representative arrives (he was quite punctual in my case), he will pull out a nifty laser device and literally draw out your entire floor plan--rooms, stairs, closets, and all. This will give you a precise measurement of how much materials and labor will be required. Next, the representative will bring out some floor samples for you to choose from, usually bringing out multiple pieces of the same design so you can test them in different rooms if you have varying corner sizes or crevices. At this point, I would like to mention that the pricing at Affordable Floors can't be beat. Don't take my word for it though--call some other places and see for yourself. The reason Affordable Floors performs so much of the pre-sale work at your place is because they don't have a large showroom. They operate out of a small warehouse in Fullerton, which is how they keep costs down and underbid the competition. Frankly, it's a business model I'm thankful for since renovation projects can get costly real fast and no one wants to pay more than they have to, even if it is for something as personal as your home. After you picked out something you like, the representative will draw up a quote. The project requires a 10% non-refundable deposit, which can be put on a credit card, but the final balance will need to be paid by cash or check. You can pay the balance with a credit card, but Steve will need to assess you the credit card vendor fee (once again, he's trying to save you every dollar). I don't like to rush any purchase that has a comma in the price tag so if you aren't ready to make a deposit yet, the representative can have Steve call you a few days later for your payment information. Though I recommend against waiting too long because their calendar fills up and if you don't commit they will have to move on to other projects. Afterwards, the installation was a breeze. The workers called ahead and showed up on time. They were incredibly friendly and did impeccable work. I also liked that these guys seemed to respect my home and took care not to disturb or damage my living space or possessions. You will complete a satisfaction survey when they are done so their work and behavior are held to account. All in all, I had nothing, but positive things to say. If I have one gripe, it's that I wish that Affordable Floors had a decent website, but then again, that might just mean more unnecessary overhead costs.
