While the process of replacing floors was pretty stressful for us, we were very happy with Caliber. Rick was very generous/patient with his time and after meeting him for our initial consultation, we felt very comfortable with his expertise and insistence on doing the job correctly. He answered all of our questions and even met us on a weekend early morning to open his shop for us to pick our our floor samples. The work done by his crew was well done- our floors look/feel great. His crew even helped put our big pieces of furniture back into our house after they finished (we have seen that some places only remove the furniture- putting it back isn't included in their fees.) They finished a day early, even. We found the pricing reasonable for the job, but it was the level of service and attention to detail that was the real clincher. Contracted them to install an oak hardwood floor, lacing into the existing floor in the house. Initially after they were done I would have rated the work a C-, but after a few days the floor has started to fail, so now it's a solid F. The finish on the floor was novice level work. Heavy tooling marks all over, smeared stain, splattered topcoat. That was my reason for the C-. Within a week many of the boards have detached and come up. I've also noticed: huge sections of the flooring were never fastened; the sanding is so bad that it's visibly lumpy in several areas; there are large gaps that were not filled and stained properly. And to top it off they had the highest quote of the bunch. The people working there are nice and pleasant, and very responsive. They offered to come back and redo it. But given the range and severity of problems I did not trust them to do further work. All around a complete waste of my time and money. read more

Oh boy. Here we go again. Need renovations done to my property, but hate dealing with researching, interviewing, and finding quality contractors. Thankfully, Caliber was one of 3 companies that responded to my RFP. What stood out was Rick's genuine passion about his work. Instead of responding with 1 sentence responses or spitting out a number, Rick insisted on seeing the place to get measurements, show me samples, and provide a better estimate. He took the time out to explain the different products, listen to our vision, and make recommendations. I came in looking for engineered wood floor, but ended up going with his recommendation and went with a Vinyl flooring by Paradigm. Best decision ever. The flooring came out beautifully and was nice a sturdy to walk on. It felt glued on to the floor and won't have any air bubbles or pockets. Rick explained that most contractors skip a crucial step of leveling the floors, which is what causes a lot of the uneven flooring. In the bedrooms, we opt'ed to go with carpeting. Rick suggested we go with the upgraded memory foam pad and a shorter hair carpet. The carpet feels nice and plush and the short hair makes the cleaning more manageable. I was very pleased with my experience with Caliber. I had a stair runner installed by them. First they were super easy to communicate with. I love that I was able to contact them via yelp and they scheduled a time to come out to my house, all via yelp. Additionally, I changed the point person for them on the project part way through dealing with them and the handled it seamlessly. The owner of the company called at each step to let me know what is crew would be doing and always double checked with him each step of the process to make sure it was being done how I wanted it. Second, I liked that they asked for photos of stair runners I liked, so they could bring sample boards to my house that matched my style. After they came to my house and showed me their sample boards they ordered me full size samples in the patterns and colors I liked to have shipped to my house so I could make a final selection. They didn't even charge me for the samples or shipping! Third, they kept me updated on the timeline of my project throughout. Letting me know at the start how long it would take the get my carpet in, etc. Finally, I think they did a great job. TLDR; definitely hire these guys. Rick and his crew are incredible! We recently hired Rick and his guys to replace flooring in our living room, front entry, hallway and 2 bathrooms. We needed the job done very quickly and on a weekend. That's a pretty tall order. We got multiple quotes, and Rick was by far the most knowledgeable and professional. He answered all questions and provided valuable insight for things we hadn't even considered. He was confident about the job and the tight timeline. Rick's quote was really fair and he had the best quality material over the others. We felt at ease with Rick doing the job, and I'm not sure that we would have felt that same ease/confidence if we had hired another contractor. That peace of mind alone made us know we made the right choice. Rick brought many varying samples which made it easy for us to pick the right flooring. Because of the timeline (and our struggle to decide quickly), the flooring supplier almost didn't have time to get our floors on the truck, but Rick made some calls and performed a miracle by getting them on the truck to be delivered the next morning. Rick's crew were extremely respectful, clean and hardworking. They all worked overtime on a Friday evening, and came back Saturday to work all day to complete the project in time. Rick and Josie came out to my house with samples already in hand to start the thinking process. I can tell they have been doing this for a long time because of the knowledge they were able to share in order to make sure the job is done right and to your liking. I had gone through a few other contractors prior to coming across Caliber Flooring. I just felt a lot more comfortable with their approach and their expertise. The prices were very comparable but possibly even less with the amount of detail and care they are putting in to making sure the floors are done right. I wanted to redo the upstairs because it was carpet. He showed me the areas in the bathrooms where there were previous defects and let me know he could do the bathrooms at the same time and the price was so reasonable to have everything done at the same time, might as well right? I really appreciated the extra mile they went to pick out a few tile options for me and give me the samples to take to my house to make sure I can physically compare the tiles inside my home. Samples looks different in different lighting and settings! Take the samples and compare a few in your home! When it came down to the main flooring, I was given the rundown of the differences between hardwood, vinyl, and laminate. I already hardwood floors on the first floor and wanted to make it match or complement the upstairs without getting hardwood floors again. We went with the laminate and it looked amazing! There were some things that came up during installation that could not be predicted. I was just very please with the communication Rick had during the entire process. Rick and Josie were great to work with. We established an initial date for install of tile flooring and baseboards, but I asked them to check in with me if there were any cancelations that came up. They did just that and let me know every time they got freed up and they worked with my schedule to try to get the project done quicker. Also they were flexible to provide last minute add-ons, which I decided the day of installation to add casing around my doors. The finish result looks great and I was happy with the process. We were really impressed by Caliber. We hired Caliber to replace all flooring of our two story home which included ripping all existing flooring (combo of carpet, laminate, tile, and linoleum), leveling basically the entire upstairs (40 year old home), and installing baseboards. Rick and Josie are very responsive and attentive not only before hiring them but throughout the entire project. It goes without saying that the end product exceeded our expectations and within a reasonable price. We cannot begin to convey how happy we are with Caliber Flooring Solutions and the flooring installation they did several weeks ago. From the moment we met Rick and Josie, our entire experience was great! We were looking to put in new flooring in our home, which consisted of a combination of hardwood and carpeting, none of which were level! We solicited quotes from three companies. Caliber was the third company we met with. Two gave us quotes and third didn't feel they could do the job. Rick and Josie came over with samples and took measurements throughout the house. They provided very valuable information, but also listened to our feedback and requests. The original quote was for hardwood flooring throughout our one-story house. There were additional challenges in that the floors in the carpeted bedrooms were slightly lower than the rest of the house! To accommodate this, the original quote included plywood (under the flooring) to even the height of the foundation. After receiving their first quote for hardwood flooring, we inquired about laminates versus hardwood. Rick explained that laminates are a more durable surface, in addition to being less expensive. He sent another quote with laminate pricing. After speaking to him about why there were some significant pricing differences between the various quotes, he explained it in a very straightforward way. Once our minds were put at ease, we agreed to do the job. All that was left was to pick the right flooring color. My wife was very specific in what she wanted. After several attempts, Rick found the one she wanted...Perfect! Rick was very careful in advising us of the fact that prices could change in the quote, based on several factors: condition of the floor after demoing and the underflooring in the bedrooms. Having said that, during the course of the project, it was determined that there were multiple height differences in the foundation, eliminating the option of plywood. Instead, at Rick's suggestion, we opted to use self-leveling concrete. Although it added cost to the quote, we were apprised of this possibility, so it didn't come as a surprise! What made our entire experience so good was Rick's attention to detail and follow-through. Rick was on the jobsite everyday and when he wasn't, he was in constant communication by phone. He responded to our questions and concerns in a timely manner. The other reason was his assistance in putting us in touch with people who could help us move smaller objects out of the house and into the garage. He definitely went "above and beyond" and further enhanced our experience! We have nothing but great things to say about Caliber Flooring Solutions and recommend them to anyone who is looking to do any type of flooring and countertop projects. read more
