Great quality work. They did exactly what I asked for, came out good and they were very professional

After removal of step with matching tile

We've known Randy and Stonesmith Countertops for over ten years between different projects and properties. We needed our shower tile changed and the entry step revised, and we needed it done quickly for my elderly husband's safety. I reached out to Randy and he said they only do tile work for builders now, but that he could help us because he knows us. By the next day, he had his same tile installer that we used over ten years ago out to measure the shower. Within a few days, they found us matching tile because we did not want to redesign the whole shower. They started the project quickly and were finished in about a week. Communication with Randy was excellent per usual. He is thorough and responsive. Scheduling was easy and he always responded quickly. Everything turned out great!

I've had the pleasure of working with Randy and his team to update my new kitchen with new countertops. I reached out to Randy to help walk me through the process, provide labor estimates, and how much slabs would cost based on the materials and design samples I liked. His prices were fair and I really appreciated his professionalism, responsiveness, and patience because I asked for a handful of slab estimates and my project was delay many times as well. Scheduling was very quick and easy. After templating, his team came a week later for installation, which took a full day. They were professional, on time and very polite. I appreciated that they were very careful working around my house and new kitchen cabinets. My new countertops and especially waterfall island look amazing! I love my new countertops so much and because the whole process went so smooth, I couldn't have asked for a better end result.

Thank goodness I found Stonesmith! I had gotten a couple of quotes, this was by far the best in price, quality of work and communication. I honestly was fine with communicating via text and email. It's way faster than having a person drive all the way out for every little thing. Randy guided me on how to pick The slabs, where to go, advice on prefab V's slabs, gave me multiple price quotes and was VERY patient with me while I changed the slab selection multiple times. The installers were on time, they protected my new floors and new cabinets, cleaned up after themselves and the measurements are ON POINT perfect. The quartz I selected was perfect and I am so happy with it all. In my search for honest contractors with decent prices and quality work, I am so grateful to have found them.

    Finished product

So the final product came out nice but there is no reason a counter top project should take over a month from demo to finish. Also the owner Randy needs to call his Paying customer back when they call. Long story short we had demo done July 29th. After demo Randy says oh ya you need to install the sink before we template. (You have to pay a plumber to install a sink so thats an additional cost, also they don't have a plumber to do this) OK so I get a plummer to install sink. Template person doesn't come until the 6th a whole week after demo. Once Demo is done Randy says oh ya you need someone to dry wall before we install. (Another expense not noted in the quote). I'm thinking all of this would be included in the quote. Randy tells me that it takes 2 weeks to install counters after Demo his timeline was off. They just finished on August 27th. Also they didn't even put my light switch covers back on I text Randy about that and bo response. The counters came out nice but the time lines and install took waaayyy too long. Also you should call your customers if they call you and respond to texts.

10/10 experience upgrading our countertops with Stonesmith. From picking out slabs of quartz, demo, template & install, everything was professional, efficient, and straightforward. I shopped around several quotes and these guys were the most reasonable and honest. No pushy sales and easy communication. Cannot recommend highly enough. Before pictures of nightmare 90s tile counter to our new quartz. Everything done ahead of schedule.

After getting estimates from 3 other different contractors/companies, I finally decided to go with Randy since his quote fell in line with my desired budget. 90% of our communication was all via text or email but it worked. Randy is very straightforward and direct - but I appreciate that. He isn't trying to upsell or schmooze; he's totally professional and just tells it like it is. His crew (from the demo guys to the installers) were all super polite, professional, and efficient. Their workmanship speaks for itself. From beginning to end, everything went seamlessly (total project time was just under 2 weeks). Even when I thought there were hiccups, Randy always maintained his professionalism and was consistent in responding to all my texts and emails. I would 100% recommend Stonesmith Countertops and would go back to them for any future needs!

This company is very responsive, quick and efficient. They did great work. They were less expensive than 1 other quote I got. You will be communicating with Randy and Joanna will be doing the measurements so she will come to your house. Here are my tips for DIYers: -paint your cabinets all the way up to the top where the old slab was (or tile in our case) right after they do the demo so the old cabinet color doesn't show when the new counters get installed and it will be easier before than doing it after it is installed. -request the estimated timeline so you are prepared to have your sink, faucet, and anything else you need to cut the wholes in the counters on install day (i.e. air gap, soap dispenser). I went to Expression Home Gallery in Irvine for my sink and faucet. Dori was super helpful and ordered me the items I didn't know I needed. -be very clear with the work you are requesting such as knocking down the "pony wall" (the higher bar counter top architects designed back in the day.)

Stonesmith is truly best in class. We placed our trust in the company and it's most incredibly talented crew (Randy, Joanna, Adrian) with expensive set of slabs (Cristallo Quartzite) for kitchen island, countertops and backsplash and they ended up turning our project into a masterpiece. They were extremely cautious of handling the stone, fabrication and installation. They kept us informed at all times. We back-lit the kitchen island and this was a very complicated process. Adrian was an extremely gifted guy who turned an incredibly done project into a master piece. We continue to receive so many compliments and we have Stonesmith to thank for it. Highly recommend Randy, Joanna and Adrian.

The veining matches perfectly from the countertop down the waterfall

We are building an ADU on the property and were referred to Stonesmith by another contractor. Everything went smooth and quickly. We had already been out shopping for slabs and had decided on which ones we wanted to use, so we were thrilled when Randy was able to get us the same slabs for less than we had been quoted before by using his account there. He also let us go to their fabrication shop to see how the templates laid out on our slabs which was kind of fun and interesting to see how the slabs were fabricated. A few days after that Randy called to tell us they were done with the fabrication and asked if they could move up our installation by three days, which we were also thrilled about. The final product turned out great and they were only here at the house for about half the day to install everything. The whole project took about a week and a half. Definitely one of the easier parts of the project.

Stonesmith did my L counter and island. I added dining table with the remnant piece.

Stonesmith did a great job installing quartz countertop on our L counter + small island. All the guys from measurement coordinator, installers to demolition crew were all extremely courteous and pleasant to work with. They were mostly on time (30min ~ 1 hr off mark, but understandable in this industry..). We were initially a bit disappointed when the island piece delivered in wrong size and they had to get this fixed which took a few more days. But they got it done quickly and the coordinator apologized and promised to set things right, and she delivered on her promise. The communication was very basic and straight to the point by email and text. Randy seemed like a nice enough guy but was somewhat too business like and emotionless. Stonesmith also made sure to bring me my island remnant piece that I turned into a dining table extension. I am very happy that they kept their promise and made sure I got the piece. Overall, I am very pleased with the price and workmanship. I do wish that their quartz wholesaler (BCS) rep is a bit more helpful in providing support to customers when choosing the stones though. The guy was ok but I felt he was somewhat indifferent and didn't offer much insights given my needs.

    This is the contract.

*BEWARE* I've reached out to Randy few weeks ago for my countertop fabrication and installation. Everything went fine at first, his employee, Joanna, came out to the house to do the template. Fyi, Template costs $150, it is NOT a free estimate. However, if you do decide to go with them, that $150 for the template gets included into the cost. I have brand new kitchen cabinets, therefore, no sink was installed (since we don't have any countertop). I've also sent images to Randy what my kitchen looks like before Joanna came out. When Joanna finished making the template, I clearly asked "do you need the sink size?" and she told me to just give the sink measurement to Randy later. I also want to point out that she was on the phone the ENTIRE time while she was working which seemed really unprofessional. Randy then asked for a deposit, which I gave him, he then picked up my slabs. Few days after I paid my deposit and he picked up my slabs, he sends me a service contract that he did not mention to me at all prior to any of this. Contracts are usually shown BEFORE any deposit or before the project starts. But because Randy didn't mention anything about the service contract, I assumed the invoice itself is the contract (which normally is the case) and the fact that he already started the project by picking up my slabs and is currently at HIS warehouse means the job already started. I read his contact and seemed super one-sided to me so I actually contacted my lawyer and showed him the contract. My lawyer advised me not to sign the contract since he showed me it after I paid my deposit and the project started already. He actually helped me revised the contract that seemed more fair. But I just didn't want to do that because Randy made me feel like I can trust him after voicing my concern to him about the contract. He reassured me that other clients never had any issues with it and told me they would take care of the damages (even though the contract says otherwise). Part of me still felt uncomfortable because I've had few negative experiences with contractors who tried to take advantage of the situation. It just didn't make sense to me if the installer damages the countertop or the house during installation that it would be MY responsibility. Just last week, my plumber dropped the tub on my brand new stairs during installation. The damages cost about $1,200 but because of the FAIR contract, he was responsible to pay for the damages and he honored his contract! I believe contracts should be reasonable and fair for BOTH parties and not sign away your entire rights. I've attached the contract he sent me. Fast forward, after going back and forth with Randy about the contract, I've decided to just trust him and sign it. So today, he texted me and showed me the final template and where they would cut the slab. I asked him about my sink since they haven't mentioned anything to me. Randy didn't even know what was part of the template. I told him sink wasn't installed, again, it's a brand new kitchen with new cabinets so it's obvious the sink wasn't installed...I told him what Joanna had told me. I asked them if I can just give them the sink measurement cause that's how I previously did all fabrication. Randy said "no we need to trace it so the cut is correct."He then asks me to drop off the sink to his warehouse that's 40 minutes away from me because they need the actual sink. This is where I have my issue. I paid them $150 to come to my house and do the template, I'm also paying to get the sink part fabricated and installed, it's was Joanna who didn't communicate any of that to me when I asked her about the sink. She said I just need to give the measurement to Randy and didn't say anything about how they need the actual sink. After I said that, Randy was suddenly okay with just giving him the measurement but didn't want to take the responsibility IF the fabrication came out wrong. This has never happened to me where the fabricator asks me to drop off the sink when I paid for the service or that they'll charge me $100 extra for someone to pick it up. Just the audacity that they would ask me to drop it off but they would charge me $100 extra if they're the ones who needs to pick it up LOL like what? He made me feel like it was my fault for not having my sink installed. But who has their sink installed without a countertop? And this is something Joanna and Randy both knew. It should be THEIR responsibility to take care of that since that's literally what I hired them to do. I'm fine that Joanna made a mistake or if there's any miscommunication but of course, zero acknowledgment. It's stuff like this that you should NEVER just sign any contract, especially if it's giving up all your rights as a customer. Randy and I both agreed we don't feel comfortable pursing this project. I'd be happy to pay the 150 for the template. He said he would give me the deposit back, will update.

If you can wait a little bit, this is a great alternative to Home Depot and other box stores. The savings very dramatic. Job well done.
