These guys never showed up! Total waste of time and no response by the owner, even after I let him know no one ever showed up, in response to his request asking for payment. I needed to have a small tree stump removed in my backyard that my pool contractor left behind. Received several quotes from other companies and decided to try Affordable Arborist. Had a confirmed appointment on 8/22/25. I even spoke with the office twice that day to check in on status, as it was a very busy day for me - from school pick ups for my kids to coordinating contractors finishing up my backyard pool project. Wanted to ensure I would be here when Affordable Arborist arrived. No one ever showed up. Owner Nathan sent me a text the next day asking about payment. I called to explain no one showed, no answer. Great initial impression when doing the quote. Texting and emailing promptly. Came day as expected. Removed tree w no issues. Came back to remove stump and tree roots few days later. Broke 4 pipes. Job was stopped and told that the earth around should be enough for me to cover the hole when the pipes were fixed. Damages are not covered by company, but they are the sole responsibility of the owner. Then, all texting and follow up by phone calls interestingly had delays on response. Finally, owner of company proposed a landscaper to fix the pipes out of my pocket, and unfortunately, this one did not show up on promised day. I had my gardener fixed the 4 pipes 3 days later to found out there were several roots left on both sides of the pipes. Of course, there is always an excuse for not completing the job by saying the removal of the roots is only for the superficial visible ones next to the stump. Furthermore, owner texted me that "we don't dig looking for roots." There was also an issue about my written check. One employee texted me privately that it got wet and I needed to rewrite a new one. Interestingly, the owner was not aware of the incident when I discussed with him about the pipes. I provided feedback to him about better communication between him and his employees. I agree that incidents happened when removal of a stump, yet the lack of good communication and the quality and completion of the job does not qualify this company as professionals regardless how "affordable" can be labelled. read more

I sent pics and Nathan diagnosed from the pictures - turned out it was simply sunburned. He told me what to do and cancelled the appointment. We used Nathan and his crew to trim 5 mature redwood trees (60 ft) in our backyard. Because the trees border both sides of our rear yard and we have decorative fencing around both sets of trees, I decided to stay home from work to watch the work being done. I could have went to work, they were completely professional. Our yard maintenance guy makes more noise--there was no loud music, yelling and screaming, or even chain saws. In fact, they were so quiet I had to walk outside to make sure they were still working. As for the clean up, they were cleaning as they were cutting so there was really no mess to clean up in our yard (or our neighbors' yards). In case you're wondering about price, at $1,250 they were the middle bid, but much less than the highest bid of $2,450.
