Not sure whether to give 1, 2, or 3 stars. This is an update to a prior 5-star review last October. I've used Jose twice, and both times were great. He showed up on time, did great work, cleaned up, and his price was competitive. I thought I had someone I could use going forward and refer to others in my community. Last week I called for him to remove two small tree/shrubs. I needed it done within the next few days, and I acknowledged that he might not be able to come on such short notice. He said he could come and I sent him photos of the two small trees along with a 5' palm tree that I was hoping he could add onto the project. He didn't respond to the text, but that was ok because I trusted that he'd come at 8:00 a.m. the next day, as planned. Jose never showed up, and he didn't respond to my phone calls and texts. The voice mail on the other end was in Spanish, and I couldn'tunderstand it. I thought perhaps it was saying something to the effect that someone was sick and they were behind in their work, something that would explain the no-show. No one called or texted. I'm very disappointed, but I will find someone else for my tree work going forward. He can do great work, but only if he shows up. When this kind of thing happens, it's a deal-killer for me. And I am very disappointed. I finally decided on 1 star, which is "not good," because 2 stars is "could have been better" and 3 stars is "ok." I waited to put out this review on the possible chance that he'd get back to me with an explanation and apology, but it hasn't happened. read more

Juan and crew arrived at my residence at 8:30am this morning. They began immediately cutting tree down that's located in front of house. They had tree on ground in a few minutes, then proceeded picking up branches. Once everything had been picked up, Juan began stump grinding 30 + years old tree. The total job time roughly 3 hours, and they cleaned up area prior to departing. Overall, I giving them 5 Stars. read more

Second visit by Blue Oak was just as good as the first. Jose responded promptly to my call and arrived on time to do the work. We moved to this house a year ago and to say the yard had deferred maintenance is an understatement. Jose's team removed the dead tops of four very tall birch trees and pruned a small hedge, large shrub, and a row of 8 badly overgrown oleanders. They worked fast, removed all the debris, gave a very competitive bid, and left me a greatly improved yard. read more

Seriously an unreliable business with Zero ethics or customer consideration. I hired them to trim my trees and paid them in full. They came and only did HALF the job. He (JOSE) promised to return to finish the job. But never came back and DOESN'T ANSWER CALLS from customers he works for. Stay away from these guys. I think their license is from out of state. read more

Unfortunately, I paid for something I didn't get. I paid for what I believe to be a tree removal only to find that it wasn't removed at all. Unfortunately I didn't realize this until 3 or so months had passed and things were growing out of whatever was left in the ground. So, I paid almost a thousand bucks to have a tree dealt with and I'm still here with this problem. read more

I had such a wonderful experience with Blue Oak Tree Service. Jose was very responsive, kind, gave a competitive rate and was quick to schedule. His team removed one large tree, a small palm tree and trimmed and shaped another tree for us. His team arrived on time (even a few minutes early), were all very friendly, worked efficiently, were mindful of the space, and followed through with exactly what we wanted. The trim looks great, so happy to have the two trees removed, and they did the additional work to cut our large tree down into firewood-sized pieces, as we requested. Jose was suppose to show up TODAY to trim my front yard tree but never did. He never responded to my texts or voicemail. I wasted the whole morning and afternoon waiting for him to respond back and never did. He seemed like a cool guy when I talked to him in person but when I read some of the comments on here, he seems a bit flakey. Sorry to give one star but if you can't do the job on that day, please respond to people's calls or texts because I wasted my whole day waiting for you. I was hoping he would have magically show up but never did. It's 7:30PM right now and he said he was going to be here around 8AM. Awesome read more

I hired Jose for a tree removal in my front yard, and he gave me a good quote, and send two guys on time to remove it, they did a good job. I only give 2 stars because they left a huge bulk of woodship as a result of grinding the stumb, and they were lazy enough to haul them away and didn't tell the truth that they are lazy and lied on me and said it is good for the lawn and they hide the woodships by spreading it over most of the other parts of front yard which was a lie and not honest and it ends up doing it myself and filling almost 5 of the huge green waste containers 64 gallons x 5. read more

Jose and his team showed up on time and were extremely efficient and careful while removing a 40 foot tree from our side yard. The job was completed in about 2 hours. Needed a decade of Jose's oak growth, a dead oak and an oak tree removed and disposed of from my hillside. Jose and Raoul were prompt, professional and excellent. We reached out to several tree services for quotes to cut down a big 60-65 ft tree in our backyard. Jose, from Blue Oak Tree Service, came out and checked out the tree, then Juan put together a quote for us. We are very particular about who we deal with and wanted to feel comfortable with answers about their process and cleanup. We decided to go with Blue Oak Tree Service based off of their knowledge and price quote. They were about the same as the other quotes we had received. The tree we wanted removed was against our fence and our neighbor has a shed just on the other side of the fence. We didn't want anything falling and damaging our neighbor's property. Jose and his crew were extremely careful, cutting and lowering the limbs by hand before starting the process of cutting the trunk down in sections. They were respectful, kind and extremely hard working. They brought their chipper, disposed of the tree, brought their stump grinder and did a fantastic job grinding it out. They cleaned up everything so nicely! We had plants next to the tree and not one plant was disturbed.
