My beautiful Mimosa tree was looking pretty shabby the last couple of years. I decided to contact an aborist to diagnose and advise me if it could be saved or if removal was the best option. I saw an ad in our local YourTown business circular for Valley Falls tree care and went directly to Yelp for the reviews. Sebastian responded and quickly diagnosed my mimosa tree as being at the end of life at 36 years old and recommended removal. I also had a Japanese maple in need of shaping and removal of some dead wood. Three 60-foot redwoods also needed some light shaping. Sebastian gave me a more than fair cost estimate for the proposed work. I had 2 other estimates. One was $300 more, and the other exactly double for the same work. The work was scheduled for about a week later. Jose Luis and Jonathan arrived on time and got right to work. As luck would have it, rain was forecasted that day, and boy did it come down. Those two never even took a lunch break, and they worked until it was dark. They worked safely and efficiently, taking special care to make sure that not only my property was not damaged, but also my neighbors. Which reminds me. My neighbor has a Deodara Cedar tree that is growing out of control into my yard. Our relationship is sensative due to a previous trimming of their redwood trees, so I asked Jonathan to take special care when trimming the intrusive Cedar branches. This encompassed 1 silk oak tree removal with stump ground down. 1 wild plum tree, located on an embankment, cut down to ground as low as possible. I had a number of large tree branches hovering above my roof that I needed removed and Sebastian not only gave me the best quote, but as a certified arborist he was able to provide the expertise and peace of mind to ensure the amount of pruning wasn't going to endanger the health of the tree. His 3-person crew came in on time and set-up early bc they needed to rope up the tree and secure the branches. I had someone out to give me an estimate the next day. A crew of 3 came on the job day and had it done much faster than I thought! Pros: Came in on exact quote price. Can pay over the phone with a credit card. Did a great job! Arrived right on time. Cleaned up everything after before they left. They were all experienced and fast. Good value for the size of the job. My only Con is that no one wore a face mask when interacting with us. The estimator came to my door with no mask. Same for the workers when talking to us, giving us the receipt, etc. We're a high risk house so that was surprising and not cool. The owner might want to speak to the workers about that. read more

During the recent record storms they made an extra effort to get the job done (winds felled my 40 year-old apple tree and broke a large limb off my red iron bark). While his crew was here they also took care of my avocado tree that had failed due to shade from neighbor's trees. I recently had Valley Falls Tree Care come take out one very large Ash tree and two large Pine trees in our backyard. I also had them grind out the stump of the Ash tree but left the stumps of the pine trees due to their location. I had Sebastian the owner come out to give me the original estimate which I thought was very fair for the amount of work involved. I had a four man crew come out. They showed up when they said they were going to and stayed all day to get all the work done. They cleaned up fairly well when they were done. I had just installed a new patio cover and I was a little worried about it being damaged do to its proximity to the trees but it came out unscathed so I was very happy at the end of the day. We are very happy with the expert job Valley Falls did reshaping our big neglected olive and crape myrtle trees, and removing our large Japanese maple. Our front yard looks so much nicer now! I called to inquire about having a large tree in our front yard trimmed. They sent someone out to take a look and he emailed us an estimate: $600. Seemed reasonable since they are a highly-reviewed company. (The only other estimate we had was from an uninsured, uncertified landscaper who quoted $450.) The following Monday, I called to schedule the work. I was told by the person who answered the phone that I would get an email with the scheduled date for the trimming to be done. Later that morning, I got that email and the date scheduled was one week from that day from 8:00-8:30 AM. Unfortunately, that day did not work for me as I had other things planned that day. The email I received said "pls confirm date and time" so I called the office half an hour after receiving the email and left a message stating that the proposed date would not work out for me. I did not hear back that day. I did not hear back the next day, Tuesday, either. On Wednesday afternoon I called again and this time someone picked up. I told the man who answered the phone that the date that had been proposed to me would not work out. He told me that he was currently making the schedule for the next week and that I would have an email by 4 PM that day with a new proposed date. There was no email that day. Nor the next day. Nor the day after and since it was now Friday - and the tentatively scheduled appointment was 3 days away - I called again. I spoke to the same man who assured me that I would be getting an email by 4 PM that day with a new proposed date (seeing a pattern here). And again, there was no email that night. There was no email Saturday either but Sunday night at 11:30 PM, I got an email. That email was a resend of the email from the week before with a proposed scheduled date of the next day with the same "pls confirm date and time" message. I HAD ALREADY CALLED TO REJECT THIS DATE. Three times. I left a message AND spoke to a human twice and said this would not work out. And oh, the email arrived at 11:30 PM - after I had already gone to sleep. Sure enough, the next day - the day I had already said would not work out - the doorbell rang. It was 8:29 AM and a crew of guys were at my door to trim my tree. The office had dispatched the crew to a job-site WITHOUT CONFIRMATION! Why would you do that! Needless to say, I was pretty angry. I told the crew that thy were not supposed to be here today. They were of course apologetic and offered to leave and return a different day after the scheduling had been sorted out. I decided that since they were here, they might as well stay and do the job. This wasn't their fault. And who knows how much more of a nightmare getting the crew back out here again would be. So I went out to move my car out of their way. When I got back inside the house, that's when I saw there was a message on my cell phone. It was the man I had spoken to twice on the phone and who had assured me that my appointment would be rescheduled and I would be receiving emails with a new date. His voicemail which I received at 8:34 AM - 5 minutes AFTER his crew rang my doorbell - stated that his crew was 20 minutes away and he was calling to confirm my appointment for that day since he never got a reply to his emails to me. I called him immediately and let him know exactly what I thought of how he ran his business. I asked him why he would send a crew to a job-site when I had already called to reject the proposed date. He stammered that it was only he and his wife running the office. Not sure what that has to do with anything. I spoke to HIM. I responded to the emailed proposal with multiple phone calls that HE answered. In retrospect, I should have also replied to the email so that they had it in writing that I was rejecting the email - though I don't see what good that would have done since either he or his wife would have been the one to see that email since they are the ones running the office. I figured three separate phone calls would have been enough but I guess not. In the end, the man on the phone gave a half-assed apology. That was it. He did not offer to give me a discount for my inconvenience or anything. The crew however did a good job. They were done in a few hours and as I am not knowledgable in tree trimming, I cannot evaluate the quality of their work. But the tree is much less full and the sap doesn't drip all over the cars on the street anymore so they did what we asked. They are the only reason this review isn't one star. I guess I should probably mention the reason why their proposed date did not work for me. That day was my birthday. So the arrival of the crew that day ruined my birthday plans. I don't think we are going to be using this tree service again. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. read more

They did great work. They were safe and asked questions when there was something to figure out. They also did everything they could to clean up (grinding a stump 6 feet from the pool is going to cause complications no matter what). We got a chip drop from Valley Falls Tree Care and specifically asked if they chipped any oleander - they told us no. If you don't know, oleander is toxic and deadly to animals. We have 6 horses, a goat and 3 dogs as well as deer that meander around our property. We now have a massive pile of chips that we can't use.
