Due to the difficulty and risk involved for excavation, it was hard to find a contractor to take on the job but from my initial consult with Victor, him and his team noted their experience with these scenarios and he was confident they can do it in less than a day. On excavation day they brought the necessary equipment and tools and were very cautious about the gas pipe. They ended up finishing the job in less than a half day! To follow up, we realized we needed more excavation at the apron of the driveway and Victor again came to the rescue and excavated that for us a week later. I sincerely appreciate the time efficiency and skill that Victor and his team have in getting our excavation needs completed. But Lassiter Excavation was so good that I couldn't continue to be lazy.  For context, I was replacing an old 35,000-gallon swimming pool with a skinnier lap pool. Lassiter started by completely removing the massive 1975 pool, including every scrap of concrete and piping.  Then they backfilled and compacted. Working to my soils engineer's specifications, they imported and compacted 18 truckloads of quarry fines in carefully controlled 8-inch lifts through the full 12-foot depth of the deep end, all the way to finished grade. They used multiple pieces of equipment, including jumping jacks, a Bobcat, and a vibratory sheepsfoot roller (which I had to look up), and they coordinated compaction testing throughout the process.  When they were done, it looked like a pool had never been there. The site was fully prepared for the new excavation, which Lassiter then completed flawlessly.  I measured their forms with a laser level and laser tape measure, and length, width, diagonals, position and elevations were all within 1/8 inch. That's impressive considering the new lap pool is nearly 60 feet long. When they were finished digging, the walls and floor were razor straight and right on their marks. The crews were outstanding -- friendly, hardworking, detail-oriented, and consistently professional. They maintained an exceptionally clean jobsite throughout the project and even helped me reclaim some old redwood decking.  Special thanks to Santana, Ricardo, Daniel, Jose and team for answering all my questions and caring so much about the end result. My coworker stumbled on this company's site and I gave them a call to set up a meeting for an estimate. The guy I spoke to, Durval, said he would come out the next day. He didn't show and when I called he said he thought it was the following day. Easy mistake, so my husband agreed to meet him the following night. I did receive a call from him about 15 minutes before he was supposed to meet my husband at our house asking what our address was. I had already texted it to him as requested so I found this somewhat unprofessional/disorganized. I got home just as he was leaving so I guess he figured it out or called my husband as I had suggested. My husband seemed happy with the estimate and we decided we'd like to move forward with the work. Durval said he'd be available to do the work late the next week. My husband called to schedule the work and on Wednesday, Durval said his crew could do the work possibly Thursday and if not, then Friday. It sounded great to us. We were super excited and decided we'd take the day off from work on Friday to either get started on laying our patio or at least get to see the excavation work in progress. Nobody showed up Thursday. Or Friday. We've left 5-6 voicemails wondering what the hell happened. Not a single response. Not so much as a "something came up, we couldn't do it". I am super pissed that we relied on this man's word. I would strongly NOT recommended contacting this company for excavation/hauling services. They may give you a good bid, but then they may never show up to do the work!

I had a big hill in the front yard that was causing all sorts of drainage issues, and was unusable. I was looking to level and put in a retaining wall / address some pooling problems. Pat's vision was excellent in planning the layout, and recommending features that would be aesthetically pleasing and functional. He recommended a swale to stop the drainage issues once and for all, and a natural rock wall to match our house. During the work, Pat and his son Brian were communicative and responsive. The morning HES and crew arrived, I had second thoughts on removing a certain area of my Satillo tiled deck and tiled patio. Haney was so understanding and explained that he'd start on the concrete and enclosure removal to give me time to see/decide when they get to the deck portion. This put me right at ease.
