Green Thimb Tree Care has done two projects for me. First was a huge Oak tree in my back yard. They trimmed it and made the canopy above. This way I kept my shade but lost all the extra weight inside the canopy. Great job and cleaned up everything. A couple years later I did the front tree. We had a redwood tree top from our neighbor's house javelin through our roof during the storms in February. We have used Green Thumb Tree Care to trim our trees and we knew we had to call them for help. After calling to advise of the situation, they had a crew out to our home within 30 minutes of the initial call. Darrell, Mark, and the entire Green Thumb Tree Care crew couldn't believe what they saw upon arrival. They reassured us that they would take care of everything and the tree top would be promptly removed. And that is exactly what they did! The crew cut branches, sawed away at a massive redwood tree top, removing it from the roof and interior of our home. They hauled away all of the debris, cleaned up the exterior and interior of the home where the tree top removal took place and even tarped off the roof to try to keep the rain out. Several hours after the crew left from completing the tree top removal, Mark and Darrell stopped by the house to see how the tarp was holding up. Such a kind gesture! They even referred me to someone who came out the next day and completed a temporary roof repair to block the hole in roof until the insurance could come out to inspect. After the temporary roof repairs were completed, Darrell called to check-in on the temp roof repairs and to make sure we were satisfied with the referral provided. Great customer service!!! I cannot thank Darrell, Mark, and the entire Green Thumb Tree Care crew for helping us during our time of need. Who remembers the crazy winds we were having here in Fairfield? The winds were so strong they were knocking over fences and blowing down trees. I called Green Thumb Tree Care after those winds blew down a huge branch of over a 25 foot tree in my front yard and Darryl came out the same day to give me an estimate! After getting a quote for trimming back the entire tree he also recommended possibly removing it as well. I never really considered it but the cost wasn't that much more and it was a very messy tree so I went for the removal! Two days later bye, bye tree. We were really impressed with Green Thumb Tree Care. They were professional, courteous and hardworking. We had seen them working on another property near our house and contacted them to come out to estimate our trees. The estimate was agreeable and they were able to come out and get the entire job done the next day. We had 3 overgrown trees, which needed alot of shaping, trimming and cleaning up. Rude, misogynistic and hostile.... So I didn't hire these guys, but my neighbor did. First off, they cat called me on my way out of my house, but I ignored it and the negative comments that followed. When I got back I noticed a branch from a tree they were cutting down was laying on top of my baby mandarin tree, in my backyard. I was annoyed but simply picked it up and carefully dropped it over the fence, where it belonged. My tree had only been maybe a foot tall and now it's flat against the ground. I didn't get a chance to look at it because one of the workers started yelling at me. I tried to explain why I dropped the branch over and the condition of my baby tree. He got really hostile and started calling me a liar and a Karen. I calmly asked him to drop it because I didn't want this argument, but he insisted that we continue... even as I walked away. He was calling me a Karen the whole time. Honestly, I think he was the Kevin or Ken of this situation. First time anything like that has ever happened to me. I'd prefer this company to stay far away from my property. read more

They came and gave us a verbal estimate for trees removed in our back yard. We asked for them to email us an estimate and they agreed to do so. A week later, no estimate. We contacted them again, by text (and gave our address to remind them of the location/estimate already given). The man showed up and asked if we wanted the tree in the front removed. We said no, it is the trees in the back that you already came and gave an estimate for. He asked how much he had estimated the cost to be, and we told him. He clearly did not recall being here before. He asked if he could go in the back and take another look as he did not remember the trees. After doing so, we again asked for either a written estimate or an email and he AGAIN agreed to send an email with the estimate. Nothing. We even contacted the company through their connection on the Angie's List web site. For some reason Green Thumb Tree Care does not want to give anything on paper... As a potential customer, this makes us nervous. Why would they be unwilling to provide any kind of written estimate as all the other companies do? From looking at the reviews, Green Thumb Tree Care seems to be hit and miss. Sometimes they are reliable but other times they are not... Perhaps they just need more office staff? We would recommend that anyone who is not certain which company to trust for a professional response try Alliance Tree Service, Solano Shade Tree, Kings Tree Service, or Bell Tree Care. UPDATE: finally did receive the estimate in writing, 21 days after they were out here to look at the job. read more

Called and they showed up to look at my tree. My adult son was there to authorize service and accept quote. No information was exchanged. I tried to call and follow up, but the voicemail was full. I decided not to use them. They showed up two days later without advance notice to perform work at a time we were unavailable. No quote was ever given. This company is very professional! I called and they came out within a week. Did exactly what I wanted them to do and cleaned up the yard perfectly after all the work was done. They even talked to my back neighbor about any droppings left in his yard, and hopped over the fence to collect them. It was the night before Memorial Day and I'm flying a drone around Vallejo, when all of a sudden my drone finds itself sleeping in a tree high up for the evening. That night a buddy of mine contacted Darrell, who I believe is the owner, and requested for him to contact me in the morning for help getting it down. Bright and early, Darrell sets me up with James who came to help very quickly, and spent no more than 15-20 climbing ALL the way up the tree and rappelled himself down to gently rescue the drone out of the tree for me. Today they trimmed and got rid of deadwood in a huge fir tree in my front yard that had been dropping good-sized branches in the high winds. They also trimmed a couple of trees away from my house. We have been calling tree services listed in the phone book for the past two years now. Nobody would call us back. I went to yelp this last weekend and saw that this company had good ratings. I texted a request for a bid and received an answer back within five minutes. I was so happy to get a response! I was told that someone would come by the next day to look at the tree in my front yard and call me with a price. I received that call before noon the next day from Mark. Called to have a tree stump removed from front yard. Very prompt and fair price. I kept the mulch left from the stump grinding and was told that if I found any of the stump or roots after clearing the area, to call back and have the area finished. Well after many calls and months go by still nothing so I'm forced to remove the the remaining stump/roots. Keep in mind this was a large root system raised high and very visible. Even my neighbors couldn't believe how much was left after the stump grinding. Will explore my options next time I require a job such as this one. read more

Very impressed with this company. Multiple tree companies came out and didn't even seem interested in taking down our tree. (It is about 90 feet tall with sprawling thick branches into our neighbors yard, right next to our fence and has a really thick trunk). He came out and said he could take it down for a very good price. They did a great job getting it down carefully and cleaning up the mess. We had such a great experience with Darryl and his crew at Green Thumb Tree care that we used their services again this past week and they did not disappoint! We called for an estimate and Mark was here within the hour. After discussing the work we needed done and agreeing on a price, (very fair and reasonable) Mark surprised us when he said they could be here the following day at 9:00 am. The crew of three arrived the next day and promptly got to work. Mark and Darryl showed up several times during the day to oversee the project and answer any questions.
