So I had to think of a Chinese place to book Constance's first birthday dinner and decided to go with Affable Eatery. I got there after work and knowing it was my first time, I was lost. I was like oh shit, hopefully I find this place on time because everyone in my family got there already except me because my job was far away from there! So I arrived to the front of the place and saw that the name of the place was not Affable Eatery and I'm like what!? It was another name so I made a turn to go back to my original path to see if it was somewhere else but the map on my phone said Affable Eatery was right where I was at! So then I opened the doors and was I correct because I saw my family and Constance! We were situated in a round table covered with a red cloth and a glass wheel to spin around so that we can move the dishes around without having to pass or get up. So we got mayo shrimp with broccoli, soy sauce chicken , tofu, fried fish, lamb chops and they were so good. My favorite was the lamb chops and mayo shrimp!!! Every time I go to a dinner event, I always make sure I get those 2 plates. It was very empty at the restaurant too! Only few families were there. Very large and spacious with a lot of privacy between tables. There is also a mini stage for a large party. The bathrooms were at the back of the place and only 3 stalls. Very clean with a lot of tissue so that was a plus. Lot of tissue and very clean bathrooms is a must for me. So thank god for that. Lots of nice chandeliers too and very quiet ambience since there's no music and just few families from afar. Also there are fresh fish tanks so you know your fish is fresh! Good place to eat! I recommend!

Solid spot for traditional dim sum in Brooklyn. My party of 3 waited only about 10 min for a table last Saturday around 1pm. At first there didn't seem to be too many carts/food options, but they slowly came around and we got a pretty decent selection. We were so impressed by the baked pork buns - we regret not ordering more to bring home. There were also some non-traditional-looking items like the pink shrimp rolls pictured here which were delicious as well. Soft on the outside, and crispy in the inside. Love that they always seem to have a "special" of the day, to keep things interesting in this otherwise standard dim sum experience. I'd definitely recommend, but make sure you bring your Canto-speaking friends!

The flavor of the food was decent, but the selection was poor. We also found a hair in one of the dishes. After our meal, we were waiting to see if any dessert were coming out, but after 20 minutes, we gave up on dessert. The service was not that good either as they only changed out our plates once throughout our entire meal.

Was here for a wedding. The place is big! It held more than 400 people! Staffs are friendly, the food were delicious. Would try to visit this restaurant for another occasion!

I came for dinner for an evening event. The seatings are a bit tight and it's bright inside. The supervisor that served us wasn't very professional, he wasn't attentive and rushed. The food was simple, but not spectacular. The bok choy with mushroom looked so fancy with the gold on top, good if you want nice picture, but it taste like the usual dish. The the salt and pepper pork chop and fish were fine. The fried chicken wasn't very good; it taste like chicken that was premade the day before. The chicken and beef in the celery tasted homemade. We also had noodles and rice to end the night and it was fine. What wowed me is the red bean soup in the end, it was thick with sago!

I was pretty hesitant about this place initially when I walked through the glass door with a letter C health grade next to it...However at the insistence of my Aunt we stayed. The ambiance was typical of a dim sum place with its crystal chandeliers and cloth upholstery and chit chat everywhere. The service really was affable. Some of the cart ladies would leave their cart for you to go get another dish from elsewhere. Despite the C grade, the food was good. Of note, the reddish rice roll seen in my photo is apparently what this place is known for. Also, at the time of this review, my stomach is still feeling all right. If I get stomach troubles, I'll downgrade to a 3-star later. Would come here again with my family.

I've been to Affable Eatery (and its predecessor, New Spring Garden) a lot over the years. I can't even count the number of visits for dim sum, family dinners, birthday parties, weddings, and other special occasions (including some parties we've hosted). Out of all the big Cantonese spots in the area, this is definitely the one we've frequented the most. I visited recently for dim sum, my first time there since before the pandemic, and other than all the staff wearing masks, it was almost like COVID didn't exist. Full tables, carts loaded with food roaming around, loud and bustling, all the same as before. I've mostly been avoiding crowded indoor places since my kid can't be vaccinated yet, so I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious and not crowded it felt despite being busy. Maybe it's different on the weekends, but on a weekday morning, it was far better than I was expecting, given my memories of the tightly-packed dim sum crowds pre-pandemic. Since we usually come here for big family meals, I don't really do any of the ordering, so I can't help much on any actual dish names. But my favorites of the dim sum dishes we got this time (and some that I usually like there) were the chive dumplings and the taro cake. We also got a noodle dish with chicken, peppers, and pickled vegetables that was delicious. No idea what it's called, but if other family members aren't doing the ordering, I often order by photo anyway. I wasn't sure any of these large banquet halls would survive the pandemic, but I'm really glad to see that they (and others) are open and are still serving delicious food. One day, the parties and banquets will be back, but until then, at least we can still have dinners and dim sum!

Have come to this restaurant for many dinner events the past years. It was my first time having dim sum on a Sunday. What a great experience! Restaurant has been nicely renovated and very spacious and open. Large flat screen TV that's used for visual advertisement. It was pretty packed but tables were nicely distanced so it didn't feel crowded. Staff was very friendly. Loved how the staff washed all the plates and cups with hot water in front of you to make sure they were "sanitized". We got our staples which included chicken feet, sesame balls, sesame rolls, tripes, chives dumplings, shrimp rice rolls, bbq pork buns, coconut and taro custard, etc. The chicken feet cooked with ginger was great and my first time having it made that way. Everything tasted amazing! Too bad we had to trek it to this part of Brooklyn as there aren't this size of dim sum restaurants in Chinatown. Would love to come back again when in the hood.

Came to AffableEatery for Christmas dinner and everything was spectacular. Food came out in a timely manner as there were only a few tables being served. Many post dinner desserts were included today- fruit, taro tang sui, malaysian roll cakes and sugar sponge cake! The vegetables were so fresh as well. This was our first time ordering this eggplant dish and it was delicious! Will be coming back for dim sum soon and dinner eventually!

Came here for a feast. The steamed shrimp were smooth and tasty. Beef was okay. Scallion soup is best with chilli sauce. Shrimp with broccoli were great. Lobster and the rest are okay. Some are little salty. Plus a bow of rice, brings more appetite. Best to eat with a large group.

The good: there was a 30 minute wait which I was surprised about, however, the it was worth it as we got a big table for just three of us. Food was excellent, inexpensive, and had great portions. The bad: without Cantonese language skills, it's hard to communicate exactly what you want, and talking to the cart ladies will be tough. Definitely missed some food because we couldn't understand everything. The waiters were not particularly attentive and you have to flag someone over (though this is somewhat normal for dim sum). The ugly: the bathrooms were FILTHY. Hopefully it doesn't translate over to their kitchen, because the food was super delicious...

Seriously, Brooklyn is hands down the best Brooklyn to get dim sum. Why would you ever go elsewhere huhhhh??? Come here to meet your extended Cantonese uncles and aunties :) We came here around 2pm and they still had dim sum!! Even though there weren't a lot of cart ladies coming around, we were able to have the chefs take our orders instead. We've been trained our whole life for this ya know ! My favorite dim sum has got to be the shuimai and chicken feet. The shrimp was huge in the shuimai, which was quite rare in Manhattan restaurants. You really got to be trained to like chicken feet and thankfully I've been trained all my life for this. The medicinal chicken feet here has so much flavor. If you like the taste of Chinese herbs, you'll like this me! Gotta give a shout-out to the employees for constantly refilling our tea pot! Sorry we probably increased your gas bill that day

The hargow surprised me with filling that was mostly shrimp which is sometimes too much to ask for sadly. My favorite might've been the honeycomb tripe (not the one in the stew). It came out steaming and had that ideal bounce without being chewy, I'm pretty sure I cleaned more than half of it. Overall, the freshness and heat of every dish made a huge difference. The restaurant had a great vibe and service was good although they accidentally charged us an extra order of chicken feet (which was resolved when we pointed it out).
