I have been a customer of ADT for many, many years. I have had a ongoing problem with the control panel going blank over the years. To fix it involves removing the control panel, unplugging the battery to have it reset. I have done that 3 times now in the last 2 months. I called to get them this past week to try to figure out why this is happening. I was told it would cost me a lot of money for them to come to my house unless they deem there is something really wrong. So I must call at the time when it is blank which is what I did before and they just taught me to do exactly what I am doing. I am very unhappy with customer service. She promises me the world, 5 yrs locked in price of 45.00 (lowered from $65.00/month), cover camera fees, cover tech fees, discount on new cameras, no payments for 2 months,extra 10% off. I said no. @jimdevries. I have spoken to your corporate business relations manager @zacharysiliac because I called the better business bureau. ADT took over my alarm company from a two year old home. They must have known none of my equipment was compatable so it was a business move. I asked @ADT to help me fix my door and they changed it to factory settings and disabled everything. Long story they can't fix my door without changing out my entire brand new alarm system. They have a 3 day money back money back warrenty but their sales person canceled my appointment the next day because the technician "didn't have the right parts" not telling me it would void the warranty. So once they got to my house none of their systems work with mine so now my thermostat doesn't work remotely. Their corporate manager does not return my calls. Do not buy ADT. They scam you by buying systems that they can't work with and make you buy their equipment and don't tell you they bought equipment that they can't work with... I asked them to listen to the contract and they left the part out where I asked...what warrenty do you have because I have had issues with them since they took over Do not buy from ADT and don't sign a contract with them because they are not transparent I called about my thermostat one week ago and have not heard back from them because their warrenty is if they can't fix it in 6 months I can also void my contract. I informed ADT 3 years (Via telephone, 2/28/2023) ago that I wanted to cancel this account. I even filed a complaint with the BBB because of the crooked tactics ADT used to prevent this from happening - all to no avail. The ploy they use to prevent people from cancelling is quite devious. If you call them about installing or adding service they are very quick to answer. The instant you mention "cancellation" you are given a different number to call. In 2023, 2024 and 2025 I tried on several occasions to contact this phantom "Retention" department, only to be put on hold with an expected wait time of 25-30 minutes. The 2 times I actually did wait, I was disconnected after about 20 minutes. In August, 2025, my credit card number was stolen and I was issued a new one. A byproduct of this was that ADT could no longer automatically collect payment. I assumed this would finally force someone from ADT to call. Wrong. On 12-16-25, after receiving a threatening letter from ADT, I spoke via chat with "Ishe E" and informed her that my account is cancelled and this was written notice of the cancellation. In summary, I have informed various ADT representatives on multiple occasions since 2023 that I no longer wanted their service, and yet I continue to be billed and harassed. The latest letter threatens me with a collections agency. As I have a perfect credit rating this is not acceptable and my only recourse is legal action. Stay far, far away from ADT. read more

It's been a very disappointing 6 month of service. I was told by someone who knows alarm systems to not go with ADT. I didn't listen and now I'm paying the price. 3 months into the service, my new system was already having issues. In addition to wanting me to pay for the part, they were wanting me to pay for the service call. It's told them "it's only been THREE months." After numerous calls complaining, I finally convinced them to send me a free part and I had to install it. Now, our garage door sensors are not working. The chat feature couldn't solve the issue so I have a phone call scheduled tomorrow. I'm sure if it still doesn't work, I'll be charged a service charge AND a fee for the device. If so, this will be an embarrassment. I will update everyone on what transpires. I had ADT in the past and was happy. Not sure what changed with the company to allow such sub-par service. I have been an ADT customer since March, and I have been dissatisfied and unprotected since the start. I have called for a number of issues with the equipment. and not only was I not properly helped, I was treated poorly. The first month I was with ADT, nest aware was not even working even though I had the lead technician and a virtual assistant help me. The proceeding 5 months I called with a number of other issues but was never offered a technician visit. With all my issues, during month 7 I called again to cancel my contract and unbeknownst to me, I needed 3 in person tech visits within the first 6 months in order to cancel without paying out of my contract. I have called multiple times to discuss this issue, all of which ended in me being hung up on or "disconnected" and that is even after multiple hours on many different phone calls. When I asked them about all this, every single representative said that My account was not notated by the previous person, so they are even trying to cover their own selves in lies. I'm sure you can see where I am extremely hurt and upset. ADT has preyed on me because I am young and inexperienced and because they never disclosed all this information to me I am left in financial difficulties. I understood the value of having a security alarm to protect where I live and people I love in case of an emergency. However, ADT's equipment has failed to monitor a large number of security concerns and have had multiple false alarm reports, causing more distress than peace. ADT charged me twice while they took my monthly automatic payment, 10/24/24. Ruined my other bills that were to get paid. I called 24th. They don't know why it happened and said I'd get refund 25th. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! First of all, READ CONTRACT CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING IT. They have a lot of details that keep you tight to them or make you pay even if you don't use their service anymore. Good job, ADT lawyers, too bad your customers lose trust after things like that. Second, I have a lot of patience with customer service. Every time I called, I felt like they had no idea who to transfer me to. As a result, I spent hours and hours explaining to each new agent what I needed, and then I got transferred and had to do it again. I feel like the company's customer service structure needs serious changes. Third is my particular case: I moved out of the business location and the new tenant wanted to take ADT system and use it. This is when the fun began. I spent hours on the line with customer service trying to close my account without penalties and get it transferred to a new tenant. One representative told me one thing, and then another told me the opposite, I felt like they both have no idea what they were talking about.You guys have no idea how to deal with your customers. My issue is with thier billing and payment support. Thankfully, I've never had an issue with the equipment or calling for help, but I also haven't had my system very long. I received a bill in month 2 for double the monthly amount, along with late payment notice. I checked my credit card statement and their was an auto-payment for the 1st month. I tried to make a one-time payment and could not complete it because thier website only displays 1/2 of the encrypted box, so you can never complete the payment. (see the photo) And yes, I tried this in Chrome, Edge and Safari with the same problem, so it's not me. I had to speak to someone to make the payment. I made the pament and it still showed I owed another month. Another call and a promise they show a zero balance. It took a week for the account to register a zero balance for me to see. Now it's getting close to payment time, and I wanted to be pro-active. Same problem, same stupid response from thier chat representative. When I signed my contract, I checked the box for ACH monthly payments, so now I am super confused as to why that isn't happening consistently or at all. I ended up having to sign up for auto-pay just to ensure my payment gets made this month, which really pisses me off. It feels very deceptive on ADT's part ... And now I will have to spend time watching to make sure they do not take out 2 payments and set reminders for me when this contract ends so I can cancel this service. read more

ADT Security Services - Encypted box is half hidden - Security Systems Near Me

I am a long time customer of ADT. If you asked this last week if I would recommend ADT I would have said heck yes. But after my experience this week I would say stay away. I have multiple accounts with ADT. I needed some new sensors installed and the rep who came was aggressive, rude, disinterested in assisting and he attempted a full on shake down in our home. $59 is supposed to cover the cost of the visit and for the tech to review the scope of work align with providing an estimate. The tech didn't introduce himself and told us that we had to talk money before he looked at anything so we didn't waste his time because corporate never explain anything correctly. He went on to explain that we owed $59 for his arrival plus we owed $169 for 45 min if we wanted him to review the scope of the work and provide an estimate. Then it would be $43 every 15 min for the work performed but he was unwilling to tell us how much time it may be. Not even a rough estimate. We asked some questions but he kept reiterating we were on the clock even though we were just trying to understand if he even had the equipment we requested, which he did not. He didn't enter the house with ADT attire, a tablet, notepad, tools, nothing. At one point he seemed so aggressive and rude that we asked if he actually worked directly for ADT to which he responded by flashing a work badge. It was almost as if he just didn't want to work or something because he had no interest in viewing the scope of work even when I suggested we do so. After just 5 minutes or so, we said hey we think it best if you leave but that made him agitated and hostile. He made it clear we owed him money for the visit anyways and then slammed our front door on the way out. According to the notes in their system he lied saying we refused to pay him for work so they intended to bill us until we explained what actually occurred. We asked for a supervisor to discuss this with but ADT doesn't make that an option. So we reached out directly to the ADT executives via email and reached an executive res team that connected us with a local service manager. He was better in the sense that he had more knowledge but he didn't seem like he cared much at all about our experience. Just stood on a company policy prohibits me from discussing employees line despite me now ask in him to talk about his employees but rather hear our experience about his employee. I would rate our past experience with ADT as a 5, the tech this week as a -20, and the manager as a 3 for effort in dealing with the upset customer, me. Overall, I will likely be shifting away from ADT in the coming months for all properties and businesses because for as hard as they work at selling you into their service they demonstrated that they wont put near as much effort into retaining you as customer. Note: alwaysthere@adt.com is somewhat helpful but didn't get much response until I file sent email to that and their senior executives plus file total complaints with the BBB and two other consumer advocates government agencies to compel a response from ADT. Even then I was provided a number to call a supervisor that had no VM and would just ring until it disconnected. Edit: to make matter worse they promised not to charge to $59 fee for the visit in which we were threatened by their hostile employee and provided zero service, then the proceed to charge us anyways despite written commitments not to. I specifically went with ADT because I was told after my 3 year contract, I would still be able to log on to my ADT account and view my cameras, arm/unarm my system and set off the alarm, and that's how it was for year 4 and 5 but today I went on the app to find myself logged out. I called service and they said I can no longer view it since I no longer have a subscription. I told the service rep that I have been able to view my cameras for the past 2 years without service and that is specifically why I went with ADT. She said they gave me wrong information when I initially got their service 5 years ago. This company bait and switched me and now i need to find a new service. In June 2026 to avoid a cancellation fee on my account I agreed to move ADT with me to my new address. They said they would need to cancel my old contract, but due to signing a new one the cancellation fee would be waved. After the new system was installed I received an email notifying me that the amount I would have paid for cancelling was due. I called to inquire about this and ADT once again reassured me that I would not have to pay the fee, they said the system would realize the issue and cancel the transaction on it's own. Yet, the following weekend on 7/8 the requested $492.46 was charged to my account. I requested my first refund on 7/9 and was told it would take 7-10 days. After the 10th day i was concerned, but sure there must have been a hiccup in the system and continued to wait for my refund. A month later I was fed up with waiting and on 8/8 I called to ask about my refund. To my surprise, I was informed that the refund was filed incorrectly and had been denied. I was given no notice of this until I made the effort to call. I was assured once again that the refund, now filed correctly, would be in my account in 7-10 days. I was frustrated at the prolonging, but obliged. 10 days later on 8/18 I call back as I have not yet received my refund and discover that the refund has once again been filed incorrectly. I have now been waiting nearly 2 months for a refund on something I was promised to not be charged on. And my only assurance is the promise of 7-10 days, which has already been broken twice over. read more

We did, however, refer the purchasers of our last home to ADT and would have considered using ADT once our new home build was completed. After giving the mandatory 30 day notice to discontinue service in Dec 2023, ADT refused to acknowledge our communication and sent us to a debt collection agency without any notification. ADT billing service was strident that we owed the $74.53, and escalating to a manager provided an offer to reduce the bill by $25.00, but for us it was the principle that we followed ADT's cancellation policy to a tee. ADT was an excellent service, but do NOT ever try to leave them!!! I had my system installed February of 2024 by Hugo. Can't find his last name in any of my paperwork. My system was a total of $904. Hugo scammed the ever loving life out of me and charged me $2500 for instillation. I went back to review my contract, the very bottom page says $904. Cool. Scroll up and up, $2500 installment charge for SIXTY MONTHS. Yes, I should have been more discerning but this was my first ever experience purchasing a security system, and Hugo knew that. I have been bounced to at least 15 representatives always call transferring me to another department always asking me for the same information my name my address, my security code, nobody willing to step up and fix the issue. Imlooking into other security systems because I cannot stand bad customer service they've transferred their call centers offshore to the Philippines people are polite, but they are incompetent and nobody is taking ownership of my issue. If I could give no stars I would. DO NOT use ADT under any circumstances. I have been a customer with ADT for over 20 years on several homes and systems. I had ADT on my home in Scottsdale for over 3 years, we were required by our HOA to transfer payment responsibility under our name early this year. (HOA had kindly been paying our bills under a master contract agreement with ADT for our entire HOA). I contacted ADT to transfer responsibility to my name. It took several calls to get anyone to understand the situation that the system is in the house, I am a current customer I just needed to transfer payment into my name and start the system back up. Finally someone came to my house, started the system back up and had me sign a contract agreeing to being responsible for the payments. Remember, nothing changed other than me being responsible for the payments. Unbeknownst to me I signed a contract which in small grey (not black) print on page 2 and page 9 of the contract which they say I needed to have read through before signing- that is the hook they have me on- says there is a cancellation clause if you cancel within 3 years to the amount in excess of $1,000 yes $1,000+ dollars. I knew we were selling our home, I NEVER would have agreed to that if anyone bothered to tell me this was the case. I sold our home and now they are charging me and harassing me for payment of th $1,000. NO ONE who I have spoken to and there have been several can do anything about it. They are so sorry but their hands area tied. They have you over a barrel. A big corporation, they do not care about their customers, they do not hold their employees accountable for not explaining the "small print big cost" of the contract. It is criminal. Twice I've been cancelled for a simple camera reinstall. Both times I waited the 4 hour window; then called to be told that the tech was delayed (duh). ADT is the worst security service I have ever had to deal with. Their customer service is awful they are expensive, outdated, and its impossible to get them to stop charging your credit card for services you do not want. Even when there is no contract signed they keep charging your card. I called their "customer care" department over 8 times and could not get a resolution. The staff could careless about the situation or facts and act like trained robots rather than thinking the situation through to resolve it. It was an amazingly harrowing experience to deal with them. In the end, the only way I could get them to stop charging a credit card was to file a dispute and even then it was a battle. ADT is awful! don't walk away turn around and run!!!!!! read more

I tried to contact someone at ADT for a few months to fix my system because it wasn't working but I was getting charge for a service that I didn't have and of course when is time to cancel there is no-one to reach out to, finally I was able to cancel the non existing service but I was still getting charge for it until I call my bank to stop all payments from the abusive company ADT. Had two devices within a year go bad. One window shock sensor and another fire, smoke, CO2 sensor. Both times ADT tried to insist on a $60 service fee for a visit AND charge for new replacement devices. Never have I seen a company try to triple down on billing you for original instal, original device, then charge you to come to not only service, but replace the initial faulty devices that are under warranty. Good luck getting a quick service appointment as well. Quickest we ever saw was a 10 day turnaround. System works when it works, but ADT service, awful. read more
