This is the second time that I used Easy Link. The first time was earlier this year. Our WiFi was spotty and we had dead spots in our house. After Marcelo fixed everything, our WiFi was great! No further WiFi problems and worked awesome without spotty dropped areas. For issue this time, I wanted my current wired computer setup to be moved to another room of the house and Marcello had to drop a line using the attic space which is difficult in our house because of the vaulted ceilings. What a great experience! We bought an older home and the Wi-Fi was horrible. Cox came out multiple times and said that our internal Wi-Fi cables were bad but they don't do any internal wire work. I had a speaker system throughout the house, but needed to hook the wires up to something in order to utilize them. Marcelo came out, quickly assessed the set-up and realized that all I needed was a speaker selector, some speaker wire and an optical cable to hook everything up. He recommended a very inexpensive speaker selector, gave me a quick education on how to hook everything up, then gave me his card and told me that if I run into any issues to give him a call. Here is the amazing part, he didn't charge me anything for the visit. Sent the company a quote to go the ethernet cables to my 2 bedrooms and he gave me the lowest estimate within a couple of hours. So he scheduled with me one spot within 1 business day. The work is quite large because it requires going a cable from the router in the living room through the attic and then outside before going in the master bedroom because that room has a flat roof. I called Marcelo a week ago to quote 3 TVs, one of which was a complete home theater installation, and diagnose my Ethernet connectivity. He had availability next Wednesday. Through some email correspondence he said he rather I buy all the parts since he had no time to go to his warehouse. Today, the day before he arrives, I took several pictures and went into more detail so he could be adequately prepared coming in. Some "additions" included mounting my media cabinet, installing a sound bar and adding power outlet to hide the wires. Apparently, these items were the straws which broke the camel's back. After some back and forth he decided this was too much work for him and he had taken a big job right after. But from the beginning, he had given me the feeling that he didn't really want to do it. I was always the one who initiated the communication and provided additional information whether he inquired or otherwise. He told me the mounting of the cabinet and sound bar installation were outside the scope of the original project. To a layperson, this is ridiculous. I just want my stuff mounted and "set up". I only took additional pictures to give him a better idea. And ironically, I only did this because I read some of his reviews here which hinted he had to do a lot of work that was outside of scope for free and I didn't want to do that to him. Serves me right eh. And his excuse of too much work I completely do not accept. This is not my first home theater rodeo. These TVs of mine are not new nor is the sound bar: they came from my previous house. I just couldn't exactly bring the in-ceiling speakers with me. So, was it so unusual and unreasonable to assume the Five-Star reviewed Marcelo to be able to accomplish the same amount of work in the same amount of time? Note, that I wrote "assume" and not "expect". Because most importantly, Marcelo did NOT ask for more money, more time, nor to reschedule. I was willing to pay. I was willing to reschedule. He just didn't want to do it. I guess you better give Marcelo a crystal clear break down of every little work item if you are fortunate enough to retain his services. Otherwise, you'll wait a week, purchase all the parts, and be left hanging. I am extremely frustrated for the time wasted. I was very much looking forward to completing my new home and eager for the finished product. If you have a home job I suggest you go elsewhere. I've seen this pattern a few times on Yelp. They start out small and gain traction. Now they are too big for you. Find someone who is more hungry for your business. Marcelo is on Cloud 9 with his big jobs. I live in Santa Monica and needed to have my high speed Internet wiring come from the very back of the detached garage into the house and then be hardwired into our existing home ethernet system. This was actually a pretty complex job that involved drilling through two different external walls, running a lot of cable, doing a lot of testing and configuring. I had just moved across the country from NYC to Santa Monica, and along with that meant buying a whole bunch of new things. One of those things was a TV. I've always had my TV mounted on the wall, and in NYC, it's easy when you live in a doorman building, because the maintenance guy can always do a great basic job for a few extra bucks. However, it wasn't the case in my current building, so off to Yelp I went. Marcelo had 5-star reviews everywhere, and Yelp has been very good in suggesting people in the past, so I gave him a ring. The day of the appointment, Marcelo and I confirmed early that morning. About two hours before the appointment, Marcelo said he would be able to come by earlier, if that were amenable to me, which it was. It also turns out that I was having furniture delivered that day, and that needed to be assembled, and I asked Marcelo if that was possible, and he replied, "Absolutely." Marcelo showed up with an assistant, prepared to do the job, and he was extremely thorough and professional, laying down a tarp so that there would be no mess when he was drilling, etc. Marcelo was comprehensive in asking me where I wanted to mount the TV, gave suggestions given the mount I had picked and where I was going to install/place future devices which I had not yet bought. The end result with a super-clean, professional installation, with wires hidden in the back of the wall. You could not ask for a better job.
