I can't express enough how I was satisfied on the entire process from contacting the Bulwark throughout the install. Before contacting Bulwark I had ADT come over and provided me with reactivating price of relatively new system (couple of years) with best monitoring panel and monthly costs. Then I schedule them to come and install the system. from that moment, ADT saw me as money machine: need to replace your panel (wanted to replace with buttons version panel while I have touch screen with viewing capability), then, the cameras you have, suddenly, we cant use them, it is company policy, we need to install new....so from $179 initial cost we got to over $1000 costs. I told them to leave. I then said to myself, let me check local companies, one that actually care about the customers. I did my research and Bulwark looks like the best in the area. I was not wrong! I sent inquiry and few minutes after Jeff contacted me. He sent me Dwayne the same day to see the system and to provide me with quote. The communication with Jeff is exceptional. It shows that he care and he treat you as valued customer. We then set a day for installation. The day of the installation Dwayne come on time and was the best you could ask from technician. He made sure everything working and work hard reactivating existing cameras that had old firmware. He didn't give up and took the shortcut (replacing the cameras on the homeowner costs), he spent the time and update them and make them useful again. No surprises and no hidden / extra costs. This is very late. I did want to write to express how well we treated by everyone at Bulwark Home Security. Trisha answered right away when I called to get an appointment for an estimate. Jeff did a great job of walking our house and evaluating where we wanted cameras. And the hardest job of all, Dwayne the installation technician. Our install was in June and he had to get into the crawl space of our home. And of course it had gotten hot by that time. Dwayne did a great job of routing cables. We had some minor issues accessing our system for other devices. And Nicole was able to help us get a quick answer. Nice to work with a local business with great customer service. read more

About 25 years ago I had an Aritech Moose Systems wired alarm system installed in my home. I served me well for many years. Fast forward about 15 years......... I decided it was time to upgrade it. I researched alarm systems extensively and decided upon the Honeywell Vista series of panels. I then researched local installers who worked with these panels and found Bulwark Security. I reached out to Bulwark and spoke with Jeff about my needs. My system was evaluated, pricing was provided, and a deal was struck. One of Jeff's installers came out and replaced my alarm panels and controller as agreed. I also made arrangements to begin using the monitored alarm service marketed by Bulwark. All went well with this setup for until....... .............. one of my legacy wired alarm sensors failed. I reached out to Bulwark to determine the cost to troubleshoot/repair and was surprised to hear the cost. It seemed rather high given that it was single wired glass break sensor. Replacements are available online for just a few dollars each. I then inquired about possibly replacing the wired sensor with a wireless sensor and the cost was even higher (not surprising or unreasonable). At that point I decided to simply bypass that sensor. I did this for a while but finally decided that I'd simply replace the sensor myself. I went to my alarm panel to try to access the programming and found that it required an installer code (which not been provided). I contacted Bulwark to ask for the installers code and was told that their policy was to not provide this information to current customers. Well that sucks! I waited for several months after my alarm monitoring contract expired and inquired again for the installers code. Again I was told that they did not provide this information to current customers. Uhhhh... my monitoring contract has lapsed, I'm not exactly a current customer. I reached out to a number of other organizations and eventually found a company online that provided me instructions on how to reboot the panel and get the installers code. I followed their instructions and was able to retrieve my installers code. Using this I'm starting the processing of documenting how my alarm panel is configured. While I completely understand the policies put in place by Bulwark Security, I have trouble with their policy given that I paid for the Vista alarm system in full. I own the system in question yet I'm unable to configure my own system because the alarm service company I worked with won't give me access. Seems rather illogical to me! Don't get me wrong, Bulwark is a good company. I like their people. I like the products that they sell and install. I just feel like I was being strong armed into using them for all of my service and support. Would I use them again? Probably but under the condition that I retain access to the current/valid installer code for my system. read more

Just bought my first home, and I LOVE this place. If you love your home, you want to protect it, and while you can't make it a fortress, you can sure as hell make it hard to get in and steal your stuff. I did a lot of research, and after seeing the great reviews on Yelp, I was confident in this company. I called Bulwark and made an appointment with Jeff, the owner. Jeff was awesome to work with, and I must have sent him ten emails with questions about the alarm system, prior to my appointment. When Jeff arrived at my house he was really cool and easy going. We did a walk through and discussed what I wanted to accomplish, while staying on a budget. The home I purchased already had an ADT system, but all my research showed that ADT sucked harder than a Dyson Vacuum. Jeff was able to use my existing system, and fortify it with additional sensors, glass breakage, and best of all I can even use my iPHONE to activate my alarm from anywhere. This is a super cool feature because you can remotely disable your alarm if a friend needs to pop in to borrow your ice chest, or something- instead of giving out your password, you can just turn it off with the tap of a button. Today I just had an additional five glass break sensors installed. Dwayne, the alarm tech is really a great guy, and he makes short work, of a hard task. Dwayne also answered my random questions, and was very personable and professional. It is clear this is not his first rodeo, and when I asked him how long he has been in the industry, he told me it's been about 17 years! Do yourself a favor, and protect your home. It is such a great investment, and a great way to protect your home. While nothing is foolproof, you want to put layers of security up, so that your home is harder to break into, then the one down the block. Along with your alarm and peace of mind, you get window stickers and yard signs that proclaim your house protected by Bulwark. The signs are crisp and professional and will not be confused with the fake alarm stickers they sell online to fake out bad guys. Just like you want to support local restaurants and coffee shops, I highly recommend you support your locally owned home security company. You will not be disappointed by Bulwark, and I cannot even tell you the peace of mind you will have in knowing that while you're away from your home, or sleeping- your home is protected. read more

Based off of the great reviews on the review sites I called and spoke to Jeff about my situation. I was already using ADT and wanted a wireless keypad that ADT said they could not add to my system. Jeff came out and looked at my system and was very honest about what I had and what I could do with my current setup. He developed a plan that allowed me to use my current hardware and allowed for another wireless keypad which ADT said could not be done. The install guy came and did a good job setting it all up and cleaned up nicely after himself. I got a great price on the annual monitoring and the best part was that Jeff worked with me for an extended period of time to get my system programmed just the way I wanted it. I've been a client of Bulwark Home Security for a little over a year now since the purchase of our house (February 2017). Bulwark came highly recommended from a family member that has been their client for years. We had the owner, Jeff, out for the initial walk through to determine the best products for our house, and then a few days later Dwayne came for the install. Most recently we have had our old windows replaced with new ones (we had plans to do this when we bought the house for better energy efficiency and had actually mentioned that to Jeff during his walk through last year. He said it would be easy enough and we'd just have to have a tech back out to install the new sensors). So last week Dwayne was back out and we've got all new sensors, but I wasn't expecting the price to be so hefty. Our original system installation last year was about $140 with a 3 year contract, but since I was adding additional sensors while still under contract I didn't receive the discounted sensor & installation price I originally received - so it was almost double the price for me to add more sensors to an existing service, than it was for me to create a whole new service as a new client. I've paid it and moved on (because what good is a security system that only covers half the windows in your house?) but I have to say I was a quite disappointed by their poor business tactics & service to EXISTING customers! I still a couple of years left on the contract...not sure at this point if I will be renewing or moving on to find another of the tons of security companies that serve the Phoenix area 12/13/2019: I'm still a customer with Bulwark Security, and wanted to update this review and add another star for what was likely one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had! Mykel is a shining star in the administrative offices for this company; she listened, offered solutions, helped me with technical support while attempted to clear a fault error for one of my sensors, and kept me fully updated every step of the way! I have spoken/worked with other office staff regarding low battery issues, fault errors, etc but none compare to this one call I had with Mykel today. For the last 2+ years we've had a second home in Queen Creek and been using Bulwark since we moved in. Dealing with them is a pleasure, during the install all appointments were kept and the quality of the work was excellent. A few months ago I decided to get rid of the expensive landline, since all the calls we got were from telemarketers, and call them to ask for our options, they explained about cellular communications technology for the alarm, the next day everything was done and working perfectly. Had Bulwark security install a system 6 years or so ago - nice clean install and I remember the installer being super friendly and informative. System works great - the option to Arm/Disarm using a phone app is super helpful. I just needed support for Bulwark to remotely reset the system because it was out of synch with the app - very friendly and helpful so I thought I'd write a review. In fact, the few times I have had to call over the years, Bulwark has always been professional, friendly and helpful. I would use Bulwark again. The explanation by the owner is deliberately misleading. This was all entirely clear beforehand. As the owner, I needed to always have a master code for access in the event of an emergency, never to just enter for no reason. The tenants know this before they even leased the property. It is part of the Arizona Landlord Tenant Handbook and part of Arizona statutes. When I engaged Bulwark, they promised to always have my master code in place for all my properties. They just dropped the ball and failed to enter that master code at several properties, then wanted to act like I was requesting this after the fact. They were unable to admit their mistake - that they failed to do their job as promised. They would rather make me out as the bad guy, say I am expecting too much and taking the position that I was changing the expectations at a later date. The truth is this was clearly understood from inception. But Jeff Monson and Bulwark didn't do that. They instead covered it up, then lied to two of my tenants, which created a bad PR situation for me to solve. The lesson is, know who you are working with and if they can't tell the truth, then nothing thereafter is likely to work out correctly. As stated before, you can do better. read more

Bulwark Security was our only option when we rented a property from Mike R. (Previous review). Bulwark Security did their job in catching our creepy landlord while we were away on vacation. He was caught entering our property without permission and after hours. Bulwark provided us with the security report when the landlord entered our property with the wrong code, as well as 3 police reports from being dispatched. Yes that makes it $250 in fines, they have also replaced two "faulty" sensors and yes I got to pay the false alarm fee. I used them for 3 years at one home, then when we moved I contacted them and used them for almost another 3 years. My husband retired and we were changing things to lower our monthly bill so looked into alternatives. I called to cancel this service and was told I had signed a contract for 3 years. Now, when we moved in there was an alarm system, but the installer said theirs was better and it was only $100 to install. It's my fault I didn't pay attention but THAT'S what locked me into a contract. Long story short they were adament about me buying myself out of the contract (which was almost up, just shy of 2 months) and said when I moved they would credit the money but they made me pay. SORRY I will NEVER do business with a company that would not waive $37 after taking my money for almost six years!! Also had an issue with the service the two times the alarm was set off by accident. More than one person called from the same place... they don't communicate with one another! What a shame to take my money for so long then have no concern for me and my situation. Monitoring costs the company next to nothing and the small amount could have been waived to keep good will with a long time customer. read more

After extensive research and numerous calls, I selected Bulwark Security. They have exceeded expectations from the first call to installation to personal service. I was with Protection One since 1992. After 24 years you would think they would do anything to keep my business. The alarm business is very competitive. I heard sales pitch after sales pitch from at least 10 companies I called. Each one scripted and delivered by call center type staff. As I went up the Protection One ladder, no one could give me a lower monthly rate. I was done. Unfortunately, I had to pay $170 to end my contract. Bulwark is the exact company I was looking for. I am so glad I spend the hours on research and calls. It was quick. Jeff called me asap after my request. Jeff is the owner! He was a real person with great communication, honest information about his company, no hard sell, and the best monitoring rates. Don't be fooled by all the low rates you see advertised for other companies. The do it yourself kits may be good for a few people but they also upsell for more coverage, equipment, and more monitoring service. Also, there is no need for someone to waste your time by coming out to see you first. A good, knowledgeable company could assess your needs on the phone. Every step of the process gets an A+++. Jeff gave me the best pricing of any company. Even an extra discount for paying a year in advance and a promotion price. It helped me offset the pain of paying Protection One off. I felt good signing up - like I found the best company. Installation - I work full time and like first morning or late afternoon service calls. Jeff arranged for Dwayne to be here at 7:30a within a few business days. No 4 hour time spans to sit and wait at home! Dwayne was friendly, calm, professional, clean, timely both arriving and completing the installation. He listened to my concerns and did the best installation I could have expected. I don't even know I have an alarm. Maybe its been a long time but seeing dark contacts to match darker frames impressed me! Very small, too, so they disappear from sight. Dwayne has years of experience which I greatly appreciated. Follow up. There was a minor glitch with the phone app not sending alerts after day one. Trisha in the office said she could have Dwayne back that day but I couldn't be home. He was scheduled the next morning again at 7:30a. That evening all the alerts came through and it was working fine. I emailed the company to cancel call so he wouldn't have to come early. Within half an hour, Jeff replied thanking me for letting them know. Honestly, in this day and age, this is how business should be done. There is no reason to be working with a huge national company where you never talk to the same person, wait days for service, hours for a service call and staff that just don't care. Bulwark represents what an outstanding business can deliver. Jeff obviously cares about doing the best job at a good price with the best customer service. I am sad to note this is not the norm these days. But when I find it, I share with everyone. It is becoming increasingly important to me to work with and support local companies.
