I've used ADT for 20 + years. Mesa Az office is terrible, terrible, terrible. In the last 45 days I have had to schedule appointments 3 times for battery replacement. The crew are incompetent and will only replace the problem battery. After 1st appointment the very next day other batteries started chirping. This morning I waited 3.5 hours for rep to show up to my house only to find out he didn't have the main panel battery on his truck, the battery he was here to replace. I will be firing ADT the day my contract is up. Find an alternative! read more

ADT is the biggest scam company I have ever had to do business with. I can't wait until my contract is up!! I called ask if I could pay my contract out and they said yes but if I wanted to keep my service I would still have to pay 67.00 a month... why if I'm paying for the year? They couldn't explain that. Then had the NERVES to call me and say they my rate is going to increase six months before the contract ends unless I renew for another 3 year!!! ADT is easily the worst security service I've ever had. I been with ADT about 11 months now so I got a pretty clear perspective on their service. In the last four months I had two Amazon packages stolen from my doorstep. And both times my motion activated door bell camera didn't catch it. Both times I called ADT and each time I kept getting passed around to different people being stuck on the phone for a hour. The people on the phones have poor communication skills. Even when I got ADT installed through a third party company, the person who came in stunk of marijuana. I refuse to pay a steep cancelation fee contract or not due to poor service. Overall just save you're money and get the Walmart mercury outdoor camera. Atleast they give you continuous recording. read more

I regretted using ADT right after I signed the contract. False alarms due to the system, installation "professional" that I had to pay to come out did not resolve the issue, tried to contact them for help with resolving my issues. Waited for 4 hours and then tried to cancel. Have to pay 70% of the contract and they make it a huge hassle to cancel. I would absolutely recommend not using ADT. Felt cheated ever since I signed that contract. Forgot to mention that their promotional offer is that all equipment is "free". They did not deliver half of the initial equipment and then I had to pay to receive the rest. I am absolutely DONE with ADT services and their history of poor customer service. My husband and I utilized ADT as our home security system in North Phoenix for two and a half years. Our panel consistently stated "LOW BATTERY" in the evening hours and would resolve by morning despite the age of the product and a new battery. Contacting ADT and reaching a representative guarantees long hold times and representatives with little ability or desire to assist. When we purchased our new home, we decided to work with a different security company and finally say goodbye to ADT. I called 4-6 weeks prior to our move December 7th to set cancellation expectations and on again on December 11th to confirm cancellation, pay for our equipment, and set expectations for any remaining billing. I specifically asked "do we have a contract?" as advised by my realtor. Both representatives confirmed I pay month to month and there is no contract involved. My last bill would be in January for the prorated amount of service used in December. The bill for the equipment was settled and we processed the cancellation. January comes and I now have a bill for nearly $1,400 for a five year contract. I reach out to ADT AGAIN, and the billing representative states that the owed amount is due to our contract and must be paid. Completely different than the previous two calls. The billing representative noted I was transferred to the "relocation" line despite always pressing the button indicating the line to cancel. I am waiting for a supervisor to pull the call and give me a call back. This is exactly why we left ADT. Poor communication, poor expectations, poor service. As a customer service representative myself, our company takes financial responsibility for our errors and I sincerely hope ADT rises to the occasion. Just had my ADT Home Security System at a second home send an alert that my hallway alarm was activated. I called ADT to investigate what was being done in response to the alarm. I waited for the 'next available' for several minutes. ADT said the police had been notified and would respond. IF there was a problem, the police would call ADT. However, if it was determined that it was a false alarm, the responding police WOULD NOT notify ADT. We could assume everything was secure. NO ONE WOULD LET US KNOW ANYTHING. ADT said we could call the police and inquire if we wanted a definitive answer. The police said they considered the call of an activated alarm a low priority and would send a unit when one became available. What a colossal waste of money!!! I would give no stars if I could! Absolutely the worst customer service ever! They absolutely do not care about the client. It's all just a money grab, no matter how long you have been with them. Even when you proceed to tell them you are a very unhappy customer and you want to talk to someone in charge, they just tell you there is no one to talk to you and anything you request will get denied. As a business, you expect your doors to lock and function when you leave the building, and if something is wrong with the locking mechanism THEY installed and you need someone to fix it ASAP, they want to charge you $500 to send someone out and if you do not want to pay that absurd amount of money, you're waiting 2 weeks before someone can get to you!! Your concerns do NOT matter, you are nothing but a drop in the bucket to them! It is absolutely ludacris what they get away with as a large company simply because they can! Customer service is nothing short of awful. At my office we have repeated problems with the device just going off randomly in the early morning hours when no one is there, prompting calls from Phoenix Police and even bills for responding needlessly. The WORST is at home. The service is twice the cost it was when I put it in and I called to cancel. Their strategy is obvious; keep you on hold with four or even five different people and get you so frustrated that you just give up. I'm on hold now and the time is 28:26 and counting. They always have to transfer me to a "specialist." If that continues there next conversation concerning my account will be with an attorney. This is ridiculous. I have tried to be patient. A hacker tried to get into our network so we changed all of our passwords including the Wi-Fi. This caused the ADT security cameras to go offline. I called support only to learn an appointment must be made to have their tech call back to reset the password. When they finally called back, I was not at the location of the cameras so the ADT person tells me to call them back when I am near the cameras so they can reset them. So I called them back when I was on-site only to be told by what sounded like a new employee that I had to make another appointment for them to call me back later in the week. Now the cameras have been down with no support and they will do nothing to help reset them! So I asked for a supervisor and explained I need the cameras on NOW! The lady proceeds to tell me she will have a manager call me back.........wait for it......in 24 to 48 hours! How is that for service?! This is the worst service I have received in a long time even over CenturyLink and that says a lot! Don't bother with ADT. They have proven the customer is last. read more

3 bad experiences with ADT. My alarm went off and ADT called me right away but the Phoenix Police didn't show up for 40 minutes then Police went to the door knocked and left without checking around the house. Someone had jumped my fence and taken my outdoor stereo & speakers. I had my windows open so the alarm caught the movement and went off, I kept calling asking if the police arrived ADT didn't stay helping me to contact the police to rush them. I passed the Police as I entered my street and honked and waved but they didn't turn around. ADT gave me a month of free service $63 for a $300 speaker system that was taken. I called the police complaining and told them I was robbed.. they ask if I was making an insurance claim and I said no because of the deductible so they never showed up to take a report. I get a notice from the Police 2 weeks later saying they would fine me if they came out to another alarm. 2nd bad experience My window was broken by a ball and my window glass break sensors didn't go off. 3rd I called ADT to cancel 1ft time on the phone for 40 minutes and start talking to someone and the line cuts off...they don't call me back even though I had already confirmed my account! I call again after 55 minutes and give the same information enough for them to know who I am again and it cuts off again no call back. I have emailed them a cancellation letter and wrote to them and my service still hasn't been cancelled. ADT runs a dirty business read more

I was a loyal ADT customer for over 10 years and in 2 of my different homes. When I sold my last home, I was FORCED to pay out the REMAINING year of my "contract" for services which ended up being around $400. I was selling my home and moving to an apartment temporarily and had no desire/need to move services yet, we just needed to end our service with ADT & this is how I was treated. How can they force someone to pay out an entire contract when they won't even be providing any service to that property for those remaining months? No matter who I talked to on the phone, no one seemed to care about my loyalty to the company for so many years and from that moment I vowed to never use ADT again & to also be sure and tell everyone I know about this experience. To top it all off, I had 2 ADT reps try and come sell my ADT at my new home (without masks on, during the pandemic, also) & one of the reps tried to tell me that they could have taken care of that fee for me, but alas it was too late & I emphasized how hard I tried to talk to someone within the company before being charged a ridiculous $400 fee at termination. 0 stars. Would not recommend a company that has contracts like this. To top it off, ADT is a company that is a 3rd party for dispatching emergency services, which means your life depends on how quickly the person sitting in a cubicle decides to escalate your alarm to the emergency services needed. Would have loved to have given negative stars here. They refused to close my mother's account several times, and after they claimed that it was closed (in February of 2020) they continued to charge her for services they didn't provide. When I called them on it, they said that it was the last bill and tried to explain why it was okay; almost everyone I dealt with was a pushy and unscrupulous salesperson, and their script seemed to be designed to get people to continue paying for services no matter what. In August of 2021, I noticed that ADT had continued debiting my mother's checking account quarterly for services they did not provide on an account they claimed to have closed almost a year and a half ago. When I contacted them, they acknowledged that they had a record of the account being closed, but said they couldn't immediately authorize a reimbursement because of the length of time. In a phone call lasting almost an hour (during which they continued to try to sell me their services), I received assurance that the account would be "100% canceled this time," and that a check would be sent -- I'll update this if I receive one, but it shouldn't take almost two years and hours of unpleasant phone calls to close an account. read more

Still the worst, overpriced, under staffed security system in my opinion and i have found another way to stop supporting them by taking out all of their signs in your yard and purchasing the generic signs from amazon that state Warning - this property is under 24 hour video surveillance. It is impossible to cancel. They are still billing me for my ex-husband's second home and I've been divorced for four years. He is remarried to someone else, and no matter what I do they won't cancel or change the billing. When I try to cancel, they tell me that the cancellation department and it's not open even when I ask for a supervisor. ADT is unethical and the customer service is horrible. ADT is a joke!! I've had them for 7 years just so I can control my thermostat and front door through an app. The alarm that I was supposed to have consisted of little sensors stuck onto the doors and windows. Well if you live in AZ you know how bad the sun is and that just makes it impossible for these sensors to stay put. When they fell off I called ADT and they wanted to charge me to have someone come out to re-stick them again. I said no so they sent them in the mail. I finally called to cancel my service since there was no security service being provided. Customer service said it will take 30 days to see my final bill. 30 days passes and I receive a regular payment for the month. I call back and the customer service agent says I'm paid in full and my service is canceled. I ask to have that confirmation sent to me. He sends me my monthly statement and nothing stating my account is paid in full. So I ask to speak to a supervisor and he said one is not available. He will then transfer me over to another department. Once transferred over I need to go through all the security questions again so I can be placed on hold. Another rep gets on the phone asking residential or commercial?? I tell her residential and she asks so do I want to install services. I said no I need to get confirmation that my service is canceled and I was supposed to be talking with a supervisor. She says hold on and transfers me to the menu where I need to push buttons for what service I need. So..............still waiting and it's been 1hr and 20min as of now and I spoke to 3 different reps to get put back to the main menu and expected to wait another 10min. Stay away from ADT!! If you want cameras and a door bell camera get it yourself and install it. It's simple and your not stuck in a contract. Also it's $60 a year through Google vs paying whatever you pay a month for ADT. Why get a contract and pay close to $50 a month when you can watch your home yourself, notify emergency services through the Google cameras for $60 a YEAR?!? Think about it people don't be scammed........................... Update to ADTs response: Please check your call logs and time line before commenting on my response. If your company truly cared about their customers your CSRs shouldn't be arguing with customers when asked to be transferred over to a supervisor. 30 days is correct I was informed of that. July 13th is when I canceled. Today is August 19th (over 30 days) and nobody can provide me with a confirmation stating my account is no longer active and that I am paid in full. I wish I could give 0 stars! ADT is awful! I was a loyal customer from 2010 - 2020 and the company treated me so badly, especially this last year. I was so frustrated with the amount of run around I went through after moving. I even called ADT to make sure it would go smoothly before my house closed. It got to the point that I was crying talking to some of the representatives. I had to explain my rare situation to one representative after another. It took several months to resolve and nobody knew how to help me! It was THE worst customer service I have ever experienced and that's coming from someone who is easy going and rarely complains like this. I am a teacher during a Pandemic trying to learn and prepare for teaching online while also moving and having to deal with a company like this was just not what I needed at such a difficult time in my life. I will NEVER EVER recommend ADT to anyone after my experience it was that bad. I was getting married and told the representative back in October 2019 that I would accept the Pulse system but that I did not want to commit or sign a contract that would not transfer the system to my new house because I was getting married in a few months and we wanted to purchase a house together someday, but that I didn't know when it would be. I was told that it was fine and that my package would allow for service to move my outdoor camera, ring door bell and alarm to my new house. When it came to moving, I was transferred from person to person and each representative was speechless that there was no contract on file and couldn't help me. No contract but they still wanted to charge me a huge fee for leaving or a huge fee to get the system at the new house. Every single one of them said "I'll be the last person you will have to explain your situation and have to talk to and I will be able to help you with whatever your issue may be." And I had to say over and over again, "That's what the last person said." I highly recommend using the RING alarm system. That's what we have now and it's only $100 a year for monitoring and video recording for all my devices (doorbell, floodlight) and good customer service. They also have a great warranty that if something gets stolen or broken, they replace it if you have their year plan. read more

I made the the mistake of purchasing ADT monitoring for my old home several years ago. When we moved, I had arranged to move the service and finish out my contract. Instead of moving it, they started a new contract. While this was upsetting, we decided that we would just finish out this new (albeit unwanted) contract. We started having nothing but problems as the alarm would go off for no reason. In October of last year, the fire alarm went off, WHEN THERE WAS NO FIRE. We were home, none of the cooking appliances (stove, crock pot, instant pot, anything that might start a fire) was on. There wasn't even any smoke. This was awful because we couldn't get it to shut off, it was the day after I was in a car accident that resulted in a concussion that was causing massive migraines, and then they called the fire department despite me being on the phone with them telling them they needed to shut off the alarm. We had them shut down service that day, and paid off the contract in full in January of this year. Fast forward to today, and I found out that they've started deducting payments again despite my contract being paid off, in full, and not monitoring my home since October. I've now been on hold for 15 minutes to get this straightened out. To say I'm angry would be an understatement at this point. My advice: STAY AWAY FROM ADT. read more

ADT came out and took out my privately owned keypad. Then when the battery power was low, the person on the help desk could not clear the system and get it up and running properly. It said "low battery" but she couldn't clear the system. She had someone come out to fix it. She never told me there was a $25 charge for the service call (to fix their problem). I have cancelled the service and now they tell me that my keypad won't work becaue I canelled! They took out my privately owned key pad and installed their own. I was a nine year customer and the cost went from $29 to $42/month for monitoring the system. OUTRAGEOUS! I am a REALTOR who will never recommend ADT to anyone! read more

The connection was really bad and I asked the guy in account services to repeat his name because I couldn't hear it. After realizing that I wasn't going to keep the service his attitude got bad. He was rude, condescending and cutting me off when I was trying to ask a question. I'm definitely glad to not be wasting my money with them anymore. RUN!!! Unbelievably awful customer service! In the beginning everything seems awesome, they are very helpful and responsive so you choose to go with them. Until you run into your first issues, which you will very quickly, then the blame game and I don't knows begin. They basically do their best to frustrate the customer so much that they give up on the issue! Awesome customer service strategy guys! If you stick with it and call and call and call you will eventually get someone to help you but by then is all the time and headache you spent really worth it!?! We purchased this system for our business location and had issues right from the start. After the install began our area rep bailed on us and left us with ADT trying to charge us $2000 more for equipment he threw in for free to sweeten the deal. Fun story, ADT has no idea what goes on in the field, the rep doesn't really update them and even when ADT tried to get in contact with him to confirm what we were saying, he basically ghosted them as well. They did end up fixing the issue after 3 weeks and about 15 phone calls. Then the monthly billing issue began. They started over charging us in our monthly billing in what we were guessing was a round about way to make back the money for the equipment they had just agreed to include because of all of the hassle. Another 2 weeks and 10 phone calls later, we finally got that corrected. Fast forward about 5 months, our alarm was triggered and 1am and they called to ask if we wanted police sent, we said yes. They called back to tell us they wouldn't and it wasn't their fault because a permit was never filed. WHAT PERMIT!?! The one your rep should have told you about and set up in the beginning! You mean the rep that bailed on us! So in all of the previous phone calls we had made, in all the complaints made about the rep, after talking to many higher ups, not a single person ever informed us that we didn't have a permit registered 5 months ago knowing our rep had bailed on us. Now for the past 2 nights we have since it happened we are getting calls between 1230-130am letting us know we should have the system checked after the recent incident. Thanks ADT for waking us up in a panic 3 nights in a row and when we call to complain and get it fixed, commence the I don't know why's and blaming everyone else instead of just fixing the problem. Way to take responsibility and and care of your clients ADT, here goes another few weeks of calls and complaints again I'm sure to get this issue fixed now as well. RUN! This company is dishonest and has no loyalty to it's customers in any department, sales rep, billing, customer service lines and half of management! But your stuck for awhile once you sign up with a contract and I'm pretty sure that's what they count on! read more

It started out fine with the consultation. Even though the price was higher than cox, with less for the money, o decided to push forward, since its ADT. Well, the consultation was the only part that was good. Two days later, the installer shows up, on Friday around 1pm. I wasn't home, my fiancé was. She had him call me since she wasn't clued in to anything being installed. I just bought a brand new home that has a system installed already. During the consultation, the employee states "ah yes, we're familiar with the equipment and it works for us, all we have to do is change the cellular antenna for ours". When the tech calls me at work, I asked him "how's it going?", his reply, "not too good, I have to change out the brains of your system in the panel in your laundry room to make it work with is, and I can't do it today because it's going to be a 6 hour job, so we can reschedule and I'll come back and finish it".... I'm a technician at a manufacturing plant, and work on electrical panels. Now this panel in my laundry room is the size of a small shoe box. There's NO WAY this is a 6 hour job. 1.5 hours MAX. But by this time, it's almost 2pm Friday. He's blowing smoke up my behind because he doesn't want to do extra work on a Friday afternoon. Well guess what, I don't play that. I called to cancel the installation since I was within the 3 days of the contract signing. And guess what, I explained to the rep on the phone that the installer wanted to bail instead of finishing the job, so I was unhappy. I told him I could get more for less through cox. His response...."ok sir, sorry bout that let me get you canceled here"......The phone rep seemed to care even LESS than the installer! Nah, I'm good, I don't need ADT. By the looks of these reviews, they needed me more than I needed them. Should have listened to all my friends and family prior to calling them for a consultation. We originally had Vivint and decided to switch to ADT because they had "better pricing" however I greatly regret ever making that decision. I hate our cameras. Having known issues for over 3 weeks with ADT Pulse. Told Pulse is offline this time because a cell tower is down. I was calling ADT from my CELL PHONE! The time I called 3 weeks ago, it was because I am supposedly missing a Netgear device. Come on... Quit dinking around and get someone out to my house to fix the problem. The system was for by disabled father and did not work half the time, the sensor fell off the window, it was extremely high priced. My father passed and my sister who was his care taker signed the contract for him because he himself wasn't able to and now they are locking her in a 3 year contract when she never lived there and are not offering any kind of relief from the service when she cannot move the service. I'm really disappointed with how they have handled my fathers passing and the hardship we have fallen under still forcing us to pay his remaining months. read more

DO NOT USE OR TRUST ADT!!! If I could give them a ZERO I would. I have been being charged for a system that doesn't work and when I called to have it serviced I was told the panel was old and unserviceable. Other times I called for service they would talk me through pushing some buttons for a temporary fix and the problem repeatedly returned. FINALLY a service guy came out last week and said it was unserviceable. They first wanted to charge to replace it then offered to replace it for "Free" but upcharge my monthly rate by an additional $14 a month so free is not free. upon cancellation they are still charging me for another month. For a service that isn't working (if my house catches on fire it won't communicate to fire department because the panel is not working). And now we're being further Charged for a service that isn't even working. BTW I've been a 15 year client. Paid bill by auto pay and never missed a payment. This company are scammers!!! read more

ADT has continuously called our cell twice a day for 2 weeks to alert us of a break in. The home is located in DC we live on the else where. We are not the individual they are asking for nor do we know them. We have explained ALL of this to them. First they said we needed the password. Then we needed to speak to the property owners ourselves. THEN they were going to DELETE all the named individual listed on the account authorized to speak to. I said no all I'm asking is for you to contact the property owners and let them know the number you're calling is the incorrect number. They said you have to do that I said I don't even know who owns this property it's not my property after another week and a half of calls we have now blocked the number and told them we're doing so. ADT representative said you can't do that who's going to respond to all the calls. don't have any idea my advice don't use them. read more
