Adelle's is great. In my oppinion, it's probably the best restaurant in Wheaton. The food is excellent and the staff really has it's act together. If I was going to list one negative it would probably be the location. It's not the most convenient to get to and parking is a little limited but it's worth the slight inconvenience. If you want to take someone out for a nice dinner in Wheaton, Adelle's should be one of the top restaurants on your list. read more

We held a baby shower at Adelle's this afternoon, and I can't say enough good things about the service, food, and venue! The private room, filled with sunlight and unique chandeliers, was conveniently situated next to the free parking. The service - from the manager, server Miley, and the bus staff - was well-timed, friendly, and excellent. Both of these would be great but insufficient if the food hadn't also been delicious - happy to say that it was. We will definitely be back for dinner another time. After hearing so many people rave about Adelle's, my husband and I were excited to try it out a few months ago. And it was an ok meal but it wasn't what I was expecting. We started with the portobello fries, which were very good. Our entrees fell a bit short. The short ribs themselves were very good but the sides were flat. I was disappointed that the brussel sprouts seemed to be just steamed or boiled without a lot of seasoning. I was underwhelmed with the andoille crusted scallops and the "hash" underneath. I wonder if we had an off night or if we ordered wrong. That being said, we've come back already to enjoy the bar. I really like the atmosphere and the bartenders are always friendly. My husband loves the beer list as they regularly offer a lot of local beers on tap. We've also enjoyed dessert while sitting in the bar and have loved everything we've ordered. I love this place! The food is great, many gluten free choices for me to eat! The staff are wonderful, always providing great service, from the patio to the dining room to the bar, the atmosphere is great. I love the chicken breast with the lemon caper sauce along with just about any fish special they put on their menu! The soups change and are all very tasty and well seasoned. I have brought many friends there over the years and all have raved about their experience and food, last night was no exception. have eaten there several times and always enjoyed the food, the ambiance as well as the service. My favorite spot is the cozy and pretty patio - love it! In the winter time enjoy the fireplaces! All the main dishes my husband and I had were well prepared and tasty; however I think Adelle's excels with their beautifully presented and extremely delicious small plates. My absolute favorites are the Chilled Thai Lobster Spring Roll and the Tuna Tartar. Sometimes we just go there for an impromptu bite to eat in the beautiful bar sharing several of the small plates and having a glass (or two!!) of wine which makes for a very fulfilling experience. read more

Adelles was a pretty good meal. The restaurant itself is actually kind of huge, I was surprised there was a wait at all because there were lots of empty tables. But I suppose they didn't have enough staff or something. We had a reso, so we were sat right away. The crowd is a bit older, but they had a classical guitarist in the bar area who was sooooo good. We'd come back just to hear him play sometime! So, we started with the lobster spring rolls and they were oooookkkk. Honestly, the portion was really small for the price. The problem is that they charge more because it's lobster, but the lobster is shredded and mixed in a sauce so it is indistinguishable. They could've used crab, shrimp, crawfish, etc. and it would've tasted the same. So I wouldn't recommend it. For entree, I ordered the salmon and my hubs got a special which was a fish (can't remember what kind). The salmon was huge and it was excellent. I could've used more of the yummy curry sauce and the sweet potato mash needed salt, but I really enjoyed it. My hubs fish dish was pretty good, but the fish had a lot of bones in it which were difficult to eat around. The dessert menu looked really good and if we'd had more space in our stomachs, I would've dove in. I would like to go back sometime and try some. read more

The food here is unbelievably amazing. I've had chicken, beef tenderloin, stuffed mushrooms, pasta, salad, and dessert, and I have always been very impressed. We decided to do our baby shower here (mostly because of the delicious food, but also because we get the restaurant to ourselves for a private event). It was a perfect day: the food was wonderful, the aesthetic in the restaurant was gorgeous, and everything went really smoothly. Just yesterday we went back to Adelle's for catering for our daughter's baptism party and it was a huge success. The food was delicious and Debbie (the restaurant proprietor) went out of the way to make the process really easy for us. I can't recommend enough. read more

We've only been there once, but it was cozy on a cold fall evening near the fireplace. Between the four of us, we tried appetizers, soup, salad, entrees and dessert and not a poor experience on any. Adelle's was.... weird. Not in a bad way and there is nothing wrong with that, it just seemed like a lot of things did not make sense. It started almost right away when we pulled up. We saw the sign, pulled into a lot, and didn't see Adelle's. We were coming from the west, so the "walk around to the other side of the building" sign at the east end of the parking lot wasn't terribly obvious - even if we were being oblivious. Parking was not a problem in this lot (or the lot we later discovered to the east which is probably Adelle's actual lot) and there was plenty of street parking on a later weekday night. Parking could potentially be a problem during a weekday due to the train station and nearby apartment complex, but existing signage seems like it would relieve that and I can't speak from direct experience in the area for other times of day. So - around the building and in - we were greeted by a friendly smile. We were immediately led to our seat in the dining area and may have been only 1 of 3-4 tables overall. One thing that was absolutely impeccable and consistent was the service. The greeter was nice and efficient, the waiter was extremely knowledgable and professional, the busboy was prompt and accommodating, and the manager stopped by to check on us. If my review was based on the employees and service it would be an easy 5 stars. More strange-ness in the building though. I don't totally understand the decor. it is semi upscale modern industrial minimalist with nice points, but seems to have a little bit of a confusion of styles. It works, but in some ways it feels a bit "pop-up". At our table in the dining room there was an "interesting" music selection for a more fine-dining type restaurant being mostly overpowered by the admittedly better lounge music from the bar area. The two tracks were distracting at times, but music preference can obviously be a little nit-picky. Adelle's did have a nice beer selection (and it looked like a nice wine selection as well). The menu is very creative with smaller plates, tasty appetizers, and full entrees. Everything looks to have prime ingredients and preparation on a carefully thought out menu of creative dishes. -We started with crab deviled eggs. The deviled recipe was a little heavy on the mayo, but I'll call that preference and give a pass. The flavor and texture was otherwise great, but they could have used a little zing that was surprisingly not provided by the roasted capers. -We also had the pork belly fried rice. This was tasty, but lacked something as well. I think a runny / over-easy egg would compliment much better than the fried egg the dish had mixed in. Though tasty, the fried rice portion came off more like your average chinese restaurant pork fried rice. The pork belly was good, but didn't do much to "wow" me. Presentation was good, but eating might have been better if the pork was pre-cut into strips. -Next we had the chicken and waffles - typically a favorite of mine this was only OK and a bit strange. The waffles and chicken were both prepared perfectly, but the combination of sauces provided for kind of a strange flavor. I'd have preferred to be able to select the sauce and quantity myself, but mainly the hot sauce portion was a little strange. I liked the heat, but the flavor made for a strange palate with the syrup and white sauce. -Finally we finished our meal with a lobster risotto with a couple of fried shrimp on top. The risotto was cooked perfectly and the dish was presented well, but the dish mostly just tasted like cheese. Yes, this was rich and tasty - but it could have had anything in it and I wouldn't be able to taste much of a difference. We saw a tasty bread pudding and flourless chocolate cake on the menu and had to limit ourselves so we stuck with the flourless chocolate cake. It had an amazing ganache and a bit of creme and fruit to dip in, but the actual cake itself was more dry than most that I've had. It was worth eating, but mostly just OK. Adelle's mentions that they are a "from scratch" kitchen - they make just about everything on your plate in-house and I can definitely dig that! The ingredients were all fresh and everything was prepared nicely - there was just a missing "pop" of flavor or anything to make the dishes stand out. In the end dining at Adelle's was a pleasant experience. The staff wowed us, but the food didn't. We did eat well (read: a good quantity of food) and had leftovers, but at roughly $50 per person I expect to be a little more impressed. Things like the conflicting music or the dry cake aren't really worth complaining over - they should just be taken care of already at that price point. This may be a bit spoiled, but with the bar set relatively high by other nice/fine dining in the western burbs I can't quite make it to 4 stars, but to be fair it was very close. I wouldn't mind giving Adelle's a shot again, but it may be a while before we make the rounds. read more

Beautiful restaurant nestled near the tracks in downtown Wheaton. The decor is upscale and cold but the clientele is dressed in all manner of ways, so don't feel required to look fancy. The menu is simple but reliable - I had a delicious flatiron steak adorned with blue cheese and dressed with fries, and a fun "black cow" dessert consisting of a cold glass filled with vanilla gelato, a bottle of root beer, and snickerdoodle cookies. Held a bridal shower at Adelle's last Saturday on the patio. Food and service was excellent!!!

I would give the food portion of my night a three and a half star, maybe four on the risotto. However, after sitting for over 30minutes without a server or even getting water in our glass, I spoke up. Most of the tables had a oil candles some were lit ours was not. The server, name withheld, seemed very frazzled and not very well trained for that level of restaurant. After ordering our wine, she began to pour one of the glasses in a half full water glass. There goes a quarter of my wine, only after I said what will be done I received a glass of house wine. Hmmm, nice bottle and in return the house wine. Then 15 minutes after our wine shows up,the one drink comes, well actually two but we only ordered one. When I received the bill the other drink was on my bill along with a dessert I didn't order. Never cleaned our table prior to dessert, we did though. Terrible attention to detail and just overall incompetence. There is more to the dining experience than the food and this place doesn't cut it. Very disappointed. read more

It's important for us to support local restaurants. But Easter brunch at Adelle's was not good. I pains me to say this because the people are nice. This was our 4th time at Adelle's in a 3 year period. Each time it was only ok. But we really want it to be excellent because we live in Wheaton. Every stage of our meal took a very long time. But we know that most business are operating short staffed now-a-days so we can sort of excuse slow service. That said, our reservation was at 11:30 and our entrees were brought to our table at 1:15 - very slow. They allowed there restaurant to be overbooked when they knew they had staffing issues. The people were apologetic and actually comped our meal except for the drinks. That was nice of them and again the people were nice. We felt bad for the staff. They were embarrassed. But when you have this type of service experience the food had better be exceptional. It wasn't and it isn't. Because this is a local place, I am going to give it one more try - by myself, at the bar, ordering off their regular menu. If that experience is just ok, I will pick from the other restaurants in or near downtown Wheaton most of which are really great. read more

Thu-Mar 10 went to restaurant and sat at bar. It was myself and another person who's boyfriend was performing. Waitress saw I arrived and kept chatting to colleague. Took her sweet old time to offer wine list or even water. When she finally did, I decided I wasn't interested to stay. Left for Ivy and received a much more welcoming experience. Came here on a Saturday night with my husband and two adult children (20 & 18). We all could not get over how this seemed to be an "old persons place". We are not that young (early 50's) but everyone was definitely older than us. The food also seemed to be tailored toward that age group. I had the risotto and while it was good (not great) it was so rich (lots of heavy cream)! I would probably not return just because it was not the type of menu I prefer. Disappointed. Was a huge fan when they first opened but have not been back since they moved to current location. Took my wife for a date night. Table for 2 was so small there was barely room for plates, 2 sharing dishes and 2 glasses of wine. My pork schnitzel and spatzle was absolutely overwhelmed by the taste of melted butter to the extent that was the only taste. Left me feeling ill the rest of the night. We ended up leaving before ever tasting a bite. We ordered drinks and it took a long time for them to come out. Our waitress ignored us and we sat there for over thirty minutes without getting to place our orders. Other tables around us were seen two or three times while our waitress ignored our attempts to get her attention. I'm really impressed with Adelles. Kind of a random selection on a Sunday afternoon, based on one diner's previous visit, I am looking forward to a return trip for more of the same. We started with a couple appetizers - portobello french fries and a cinnamon scallop dish. I requested the fries...like a fool, I read "french fries" and assumed it would be just that, but with a little mushroom. As if portobellos are shavable like truffles. Instead it was delicious "sticks" of mushroom fried in almost a tempura batter, and served with a heavily garlic aioli. The aioli wasn't needed, but the mushrooms were very good. The scallops were...fine, but honestly, the cinnamon thing wasn't quite needed. I don't know if I'd do this again, but they were fine. We each had salads - I had an arugula salad with shaved fennel, pine nuts, radish slivers, and some baked feta. Really nice and refreshing, with a light vinaigrette and some mandarin orange garnish. The feta especially was interesting, a little browned and shrunken down by the baking, first time I've had it that way. After agonizing over entrees (I was in the mood for beef, having been unable to get a reservation recently at Gene and Georgetti's), I was swayed to the risotto of the day by the waitress, and I was really happy about it. Perfect risotto, topped with a mountain of crab and lobster, garnished with two nicely cooked, non-gritty scallops, and drizzled with lemon dill sauce. Only two, minor complaints - one, more lemon dill sauce. It was awesome. And two, the dish included just a couple sun dried tomatoes, which I didn't think really fit. I ended up picking the out pretty easily. I didn't try them, but others enjoyed a pecan crusted salmon, which was reportedly good, but a undercooked in the middle (nothing the microwave couldn't fix for lunch the next day, apparently), and a steak, which was also reportedly good (and the pooch appreciated the small leftover portion). But man, the risotto...I made the right choice. Desserts were also good. I split a blueberry bread pudding with caramel and creme anglaise. The bread pudding was solid, not runny and the caramel was really thick and "caramelly tasting" (which, not all is, unfortunately). Just tasty all around, and a generous helping. My entree was available in both entree and appetizer portions - I had the entree portion, but I would return for an appetizer serving of the day's special and those mushrooms and be pretty happy about it. read more

Yesterday we had my daughter's bridal shower at Adelle's. The food and service were phenomenal. A little warm, when asked they turned down the AC. Somehow we miscounted and had one more person than confirmed. No problem, they quickly took care of this. The choices offered on the banquet menu were plentiful and my only complaint is that they where so tempting it was hard to make a decision. We decided on FIELD GREENS, fresh strawberries, goat cheese crumbles, toasted almonds, raspberry vinaigrette and OVEN ROASTED CHICKEN BREAST, over grilled garden vegetable risotto, grilled asparagus, lemon-herb butter sauce. We received many compliments on the food. I wish I had given previous showers held at home there. Kudos Adelle's!! read more

I recently went here after reading good reviews and word of mouth. Our server was rude, inattentive-leaving us with empty drinks,never once asked us how our meal was,and took forever to even come around to our table-and the restaurant was not very busy so it wasnt like he didn't have time. I'll spare him by not saying his name, maybe he had a bad night, but he certainly payed more attention to the other tables around us and we were more than nice to the guy. I read good reviews about the meatloaf so I decided to try it, not my cup of tea and I would not order it again. My girlfriend had the Parmesan Breaded Chicken Breast, which was very good, I was disappointed that the poor service ruined what should of been a special dinner. read more

The server asked how our "first bites" were as I picking up the last delicious piece of my filet. Then an interminable wait for the check. My wife and I had dinner at Adelle's and really enjoyed everything. Nice patio and great food. We had the tempura green beans "awesome" and fish for dinner. Both the white fish and the salmon were excellent. We will be back again sometime soon for more. Needed one more Adelle's fix before their big move. Always, always the portabello fries. The risotto of the week was a BLT version w/ chopped bacon in a light tomato sauce & a single seared scallop. The entree chosen this visit was a pan seared chicken breast in a lemon caper sauce w/ sauteed spinach & mushrooms. This is my go-to best meal, want it all the time, wish they were closer place. It pains me to give Adelle's a poor review but the Mother's Day prix-fixe special missed on many levels. The menu was a mix of buffet and entree. The buffet included staples like cheese and fruit, a soup, veggie quesadilla's, deviled eggs, and rolls. It would have been acceptable for a hotel but not Adelle's. It just had a feel of "let's see if this works". As we were halfway through our buffet appetizer course, our entrees arrived. Were we being rushed or was the staff and kitchen just not used to working on a buffet schedule? The waiter couldn't have been less concerned about our comment on the timing. On the plus side, the entree's were excellent as usual. The pot roast was fork tender and was all meat (no fat). Everyone else seemed to enjoy their entrees as well. Sadly, our appetizer plates remained on the table throughout the meal. Again, the staff seemed to be unaccustomed to working with a buffet. The dessert table was straight out of a Costco warehouse. The cream puffs lacked any taste and the little pastry cups needed a knife to cut. So we'll look elsewhere to celebrate Mother's Day and visit when they offer their standard menu. That way we know we won't be disappointed. read more

This place is a total gem! As a 30-something, it's not where you'll find many like-aged people, but it's a place I love to take my mom for a special night out, or a really damn good dessert. The food is really worth it. I mean really. The coconut rice pudding dessert is seriously one of the best little after dinner treats I've had anywhere. And the place is nice -cozy, funky vibe for Wheaton - two fireplaces for the never ending cold nights we seem to have - and a patio for whenever the sun does come back out. So check it out - if you're a foodie, and seriously well prepared dishes are what you're really after - don't miss Adelle's. read more

First off, the atmosphere at this eatery was fantastic. Very nice and quiet and not too much. The cuisine was absolutely incredible as well. My dad ordered a pork tenderloin that was to die for and I ordered a salmon dish with postacchio crumbled on top and a delicious coconut-curry sauce underneath that was perfectly subtle. Not only was our dining experience fantastic, but we had the great fortune of talking with the chef himself! Boy, what a treat! It was amazing to see how passionate the chef was about making delicious food.. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone and anyone interested in an amazing dining experience! read more

Mediocre. It's been two years since my first visit to Adelle's, and now I have to take away 3 stars out of 5. Reason? The place has changed drastically, and not for the best. I went there for the first time in 2007, after seeing in on Check, Please, and was enchanted -- at the time it had a wonderful, imaginative menu with innovative combinations of flavors, exquisite desserts and now? They've taken the easy road: portions became much larger, but formerly creative menu is gone. Completely uninspired, not a one memorable dish! Everything seems overcooked, or made from prepackaged ingredients (appetizer plate, for example), desserts are simply huge chunks of pie, heavy and bland. I asked them if the chef changed, but they said no. What a loss... sad, sad, sad! read more

The food here was very good, the ambiance (at their old location) was wonderful (we sat outside), and the service was attentive though not friendly. I'm giving it 3 stars though b/c for the price, I think that the food should have been more outstanding. The portobello fries were very good but I can see how not everyone would love them. They are unique and I enjoyed them, but they're not something that I would crave for. We also tried the BLT risotto - the best we've had. Very good. Our waiter recommended the andouille scallops - these were a bit of a letdown. They were fine, but we were just a little underwhelmed. I also had the berry salad, which was also recommended. It was interesting but the berries were sour and the fried shallots were overpowering - I definitely would not get that again. It's a charming little place, and I would still recommend it to anyone. read more
