I thought I liked the guy who helped me choose my glasses but that opinion was promptly changed when he hung on on me after asking about my glasses. He said 4-6 weeks and its been 6 weeks and no glasses. Don't go here. read more

We have been coming to West Coast Eye care for over 10 years. We love Dr Soriano. We are usually in and out in about 45 min. Office and exam rooms are very clean and meet all the Covid Safety protocols. Eye glass selections are limited, so we usually take our eyeglass Rx's to Costco. I have had good experiences here before, but evidently they don't care enough about their patients to answer the phone anymore. Hust an endless loop of info on everything that can go wrong with your eyes as you age--and age u do! waited for 10 minutes on 3 separate occasions just to make an annual appt. read more

Don't go...long story.. I have a dispute with acuity, this place lied.. got my eyes checked there, got my glasses, couldn't focus well, took them back, was told to give a couple weeks to adjust, I did, took them back, the optometrist checked my eyes again and said the prescription was correct, went home and tried again and my eyes started to hurt, so I decided to go to another eye doctor, they told me the acuity prescription was to strong, I waited to get my glasses at the other place, to see if they were good, they were, I went over to Acuity, explained it all to the guy in the frame department, he said, we can't refund your money, but we can put the new prescription in the frames we sold you, so I did that and they billed me 166.00, I originally paid them 344.00 then paid the other place like two hundred something, then disputed the bill, they said that acuity offered me another exam and I denied it, that was a lie, I had the second exam, and was told me the prescription was correct, and after finally deciding to get a second opinion, I found a place that gave me the correct prescription, I just wish I never went to west coast, even my friend and neighbor got the wrong prescription from them, I will never recommend this place read more

We originally booked here because of a friends personal experience. However, we were never seen. We arrived for our appointments to be told they were cancelled because of insurance reasons. We waited 3 weeks for these appointments. Poor communication! No attempts at correction. Make sure YOU understand your insurance before you go. They do not! read more

I have been going here for years and had always had a amazing experience..till this year. I had booked an appointment for a contact lens exam when I went in they thought I was just there to order glasses. They doctor still saw me. Did the exam when I went to order my contacts the representative Louis did not apply any of my insurance to my order and when I called back two days later to get this addressed he hung up on me after telling me that he would run it through the insurance now and that I had been the one that was supposed to be responsible for telling him that I wanted to use my insurance towards my contact lens order. The only reason why I am giving two stars is because the doctors there are still amazing but the staff has now gone downhill. And I do understand that maybe it's new staffing because of the pandemic but they are still no excuse for them not to have used the insurance. read more

RUN FAR, FAR AWAY from this place if you care about your vision. Put very simply: The optometrists here have not a clue of what they are doing, and this could have a permanent effect on your vision. My daughter has serious congenital eye issues, and she got glasses from this Alpine location one year ago in Feb 2015. She started having issues with her eyes going cross-eyed ONLY in the past year, and come to find out, ONLY because the prescription was .5 too strong for both eyes. And two eye exams were done by two separate optometrists at the West Coast Alpine location (Feb 2015 and Feb 2016) and the prescription stayed exactly the same "because her eyes hadn't changed". We only figured out that the problem with her eyes going cross-eyed was due to both optometrists getting the prescription wrong when my daughter went to Kaiser in March 2016 to get her contact lens prescription filled and to get her eyes examined because they had been going cross-eyed over the past year. She brought her glasses from 2015 and the doctor checked the rx on them and it was .5 too strong on both eyes. And according to the Kaiser doctor, this was what was causing her eyes to go cross-eyed. There is no cure for this, and it could have been much worse if Kaiser hadn't caught the cause of this early. We still had not picked up her glasses from West Coast from the Feb 2016 appt, so we went down there today to bring the new rx from the Kaiser doctor and have them remade with the correct rx. Our only expectation was that they remake the glasses correctly, and to treat us decently in the process. We explained everything as stated above to Carissa at West Coast (the optician, which is an eyeglass salesperson), and all we got was a bunch of arguing, no empathy or apology of any kind, and that it was "their two optometrists vs. Kaiser's one optometrist that both prescriptions from West Coast were too strong". Inferring that since they had 2 doctors vs. Kaiser's 1 doctor, that the rx from Kaiser was the one that had to be wrong. Carissa said that she had never seen a person's eyes go cross-eyed before because of an rx being .5 too strong (she's not a doctor, although from our conversation she thinks she is, and remember that my daughter has serious pre-existing congenital eye issues), and she finally stated that okay, she'd have the glasses remade. This is not an "isolated incident"- we have three others in our family that have used this location (none of which have the same serious issues my daughter has), and one of them was unable to use the "computer glasses" for either reading or using a computer because the rx was off (2015 West Coast visit also)- so they went back to using cheap Wal Mart reading glasses that work great (and cost only $10). To be fair, the other two family members had no issues and were happy with their glasses. I felt a duty to warn other Yelpers about this place after we were treated so poorly by Carissa. read more

I have been going to West Coat Eye Care in Alpine for years! My entire family goes there now. I used to run a clinic and I would send all my patients there for their eye care. I have had so many issues with getting the right prescription from different places and every time I get glasses at this location everything is perfect. The call center wasn't so great since they didn't even schedule my appointment at all, but they were happy to squeeze me in between two clients! Walking into Acuity Eye Group was like walking into the home of a friend. My husband was super nervous and I was eager to be able to see again. They took care of us, and also put his nerves to ease. Turns out he has superhuman vision! I on the other hand... had my exam and got fitted for my new spectacles. The doctors were kind, informative, and were great at dealing with my husband and I'd awful banter. I 1000% recommend this office. In fact I already have my neighbors setting up appointments as well! We've been to this clinic a couple of times with no issues. This last time completely changes my mind. We will never go back. I made my kids appts in November. No one told me at all when booking the appt or upon arrival that they were bought out and no longer take our insurance without a referral. They saw all my kids. Not saying a word. I get a bill in January for $186 for each kid. Claiming new pt fees. I called and asked why because we had been there before. That's when she said we were no longer covered to be seen. Insurances should be verified before visit. Especially when pts have been seen with no issues before. I've been fighting with them and insurance to cover. I called today to see if they received any payment from insurance. They said yes. It's processing. Do not make a payment. I called my insurance and they said they have not issued a payment. These people clearly have no idea how to run admin for medical at all. We will never go back. read more

I have been going here for 11 years, and today that ends. They got my prescription wrong, then I was leaving for India a couple days after getting glasses, and now that I'm back they tried to charge me another examination fee, even though I called them before leaving to inform them of the frustration of not having the right prescription. I'm DONE. These doctors seem inferior anyway. I would go elsewhere. Plus long waits at this office and tough to talk to anyone on phone. Not worth the headache. What a horrible business! Run!!! I made my appointments for my 3 daughter's and myself about 2 weeks ago. The rep that took my about asked for reassurance that my family would be there; because of the time I would be taking. When I arrived today, there was no doctor available! This pissed me off because not only did I have to take off work, but the neglected to call me. Their claim was that it was the wrong number! How? I've been coming to you since 2015! My number has been the same for 10+ years! You didn't have a problem calling me last year when you all messed up my order for my glasses; or when my contacts were ready for pick up. Now all of a sudden on all 4 accounts the number is incorrect! I know my number and filled out the forms clearly. Maybe you need a new clerk? I tell you what, my time will NEVER be wasted again! read more

This place is amazing! My dad was recently hospitalized after a terrible accident that left him bed bound and with broken, unusable glasses. Since my dad is a patient here I went in and talked to Carissa. She had his prescription but I had no way to get him to the office. Out of the kindness of her heart she came to my dad's hospital bed and tried frames on him! Then when the glasses came in she delivered them to my dad! She explained what she was going to do before she did it and checked in with me throughout to make sure I was doing okay. I am not a person who likes the eye doctor but this place is amazing. I was very pleased with everything about this office. The staff was nice, and the doctors were very knowledgeable and friendly. The ladies that work here are BEYOND nice and it was one of the best exams I've ever had. I called that morning and they were able to schedule me for that afternoon. I absolutely loved my frames and my total for glasses and lenses and exam was super cheap with my insurance and their selection of frames.
