After three consultations in the States, I finally found my match here, and I'm so glad I did. The walls were filled with certifications and accolades from all their hard work. When I went to CODET last year I was hoping to get a pair of glasses that would stay put on my face when I was playing tennis. I also mentioned that I was having a little difficulty seeing the ball clearly on the far side of the court. After a few quick tests they told me that I had a low grade cataract in one eye and they also said that they thought I would be a good candidate for a lens replacement. They suggested the relatively new Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) which they claimed had all of the following benefits: 1. The actual surgery was relatively pain free and could be completed in just two visits 2. The new lenses could could be fine tuned typically over the course of two or three future visits so that I would have improved distant vision without the need to wear glasses. 3. The new lenses would also eliminate my astigmatism and give me improved depth of focus. As things turned out NONE of the promised benefits were delivered. Today I still am unable to see distant things very clearly, certainly no better than before this expensive surgery, but now both my near and intermediate vision, which were nearly perfect before the surgery, have been degraded to the point where even glasses with a +250 do not allow me to see clearly. When I mentioned this problem to Dr Chayet I was told that it was not uncommon that patients who went through this procedure would sometimes need to pick up a pair of reading glasses. My question for him was this "Who would ever knowingly sacrifice their perfectly good near and intermediate vision, the vision that allowed me to read a newspaper or a book, or see my computer and cell phone screens clearly without glasses, just for the sake improving their distant sight?" Dr Chayet seems to make a lot of people very happy with his LASIK work but you will find very few positive reviews from his lens replacement clients. Between travel expenses, special prescription eye drops, and all the time spent waiting in border crossing lines this surgery cost me over $10,000. It was painful (one eye was bruised so badly I had a black eye that took over two weeks to clear up) did NOTHING to improve any part of my vision, and caused me to have to purchase a dozen or more varieties of +250 reading glasses. The Doctor told me I should wait as much as six weeks after the surgery before I would see the results. At this point it has been more than a year and I am definitely far worse off than before this surgery. A recent examination at the Dean McGee Eye Institute identified "capsular opacification' in both of my eyes, which they say is is often a side effect of lens replacement. But you won't find any of these potential problems mentioned on the Clinic's website or by the doctors prior to the surgery. Don't let the many positive reviews for their "Lasik" work give you a false sense of security when it comes to Lens Replacement. 5 read more

I must say it is refreshing to see that a company takes the time to reach out to their customers in attempt to correct the issue . I still give them 4/5 star since I did not receive the answers I was looking for when I visited the facility. I do advice that when visiting them please be clear as to what you want out of the visit with them. This company has shown to be deeply invested in customer care which is something you look for when trusting them with your vision. I Found Codet Eye Institute on internet. Was interested in having cataract surgery with Zimner Z-8 femtosecond machine. When i saw history of Dr. Chayut and his 30 yrs.experience ,60,000 surgeries I was sold on visiting Tijuana Mexico for procedure. He has more IOL options than we have in USA. I chose tri focal IOL's. Staff all bilingual, office clean, and very profesional and pay attention to patients needs. My life changed to positive immediatly after surgery. I visited "elite" institutions here in the states after suffering a stroke to attend an ulcer that had developed on my left eye due to the inability to blink and lack of lubrication (post-stroke symptom). Here in the States I was recommended to get "a cornea transplant!" I'm no expert but my logic told me that was not a very good idea considering that my eye was not functioning properly! Fortunately, for those that live in Southern California, his beautiful/incredible 4 story clinic (which always has had the latest and most technically advanced equipment, including the Swiss Ziemer laser (the only one in this hemisphere of the earth) which is straight out of the future (22nd century), is an easy 5-minute ride across the US border in San Diego. Each doctor's visit is a breeze as he has a nice private luxury clinic van pick me up and return me across the border. He has provided me with steady conservative care for a very complicated corneal eye problem for over 20 years. He just did a corneal transplant and early on my vision is 20/30. The continued care, attention to detail, facility, and staff, are outstanding. I could and would have traveled to any other doctor in the world to get this surgery as I need to be able to see to do my job as an attorney. I have been meaning to get the LASIK surgery done on my eyes for several years. Alas, I never had the money or the time to get it done. Recently however, I discovered the Codet Vision Institute in Tijuana. I already visit there a fair amount to get dental work done, and so this seemed like a natural fit. What really sealed the deal for me mentally was finding out that Dr Chayet was the doctor that invented intraLASIK. Furthermore, he's a well respected researcher into all things ophthalmology related. I went there last week for my consultation, still keeping my options open. Needless to say, after seeing the very professional team, and meeting the doctor, I felt like I was in safe hands, and scheduled my surgery for the following day. I had my surgery at 3PM on Friday and I woke up with 20/20 vision on Saturday morning. Needless to say, I can't recommend this place enough. It's very convenient to the border as well. I live in Atlanta GA and was scheduled to get cataract surgery here. I went through all the testing and imaging and was supposed to get multifocal IOLs with one eye set for distance and intermediate and the other eye set for distance and reading. After researching online I decided that I wanted the PanOptix trifocal lenses which provide clear vision at all 3 ranges in both eyes. These lenses were not yet approved by the FDA although most of the rest of the world has been using them for 4 years. After doing more research I found CODET Institute and Dr. Chayet online and started conversing with Jared Gonzales online. He answered my many questions over the course of many emails. He explained everything in detail for me. I asked how soon I could get scheduled and they were able to schedule me the following week. My family and coworkers thought I was crazy and were concerned for me, but after doing my due diligence I felt that this was right for me. Jared helped with my hotel reservations and had a driver pick me up at the San Diego airport and bring me to the clinic. Everyone was VERY nice and helpful there and I went through the examination process again. The institute is very nice and modern and they did all the same tests that I had done in Atlanta with the same equipment. I then was examined by Dr. Chayet and we decided that I was a good candidate for the PanOptix trifocals. We scheduled surgery for the next day. The whole time I was there CODET's driver Able transported me between the Institute and my hotel. He was very friendly and spoke excellent English. Everything went like clockwork and it was obvious that everyone know what they were doing and made me feel like family. The staff were a happy, professional bunch who obviously like working there and took pride in there jobs. In 5 day and 4 nights in Tijuana I had all pre op exams, 2 surgeries and post op exams and was delivered back to the San Diego airport. For the price of the lenses alone here in Atlanta (which are not covered by insurance) I was able to get the exams, the surgies, the medications, the anethesiologist and transportation while in Tijuana. It is amazing to see clearly again at all distances without glasses after being dependent on reading and distance glasses for so long. There is some adjustment and there are some halos around light sources at night, but IMO that is a small price to pay. I would recommend this to my friends and family and I would do it again if I had it to do over again. We made an appointment for a certain day missed a day of work and was told we did not have an appointment for that day when we had confirmed the appointment 3 days ago. The receptionist with glasses for Dr. Grooman and Dr. Avila is very rude with a nasty attitude wasn't very apologetic about what had happened. We will not be going here anymore due to that reason. Years ago I was diagnosed with cataracts in the USA. I had heard great things from my friends about Dr Chayet, both as a doctor and as a person. I went to see him and after a thorough examination he advised me not to do the surgery at that time. I was very pleased with his advice and his integrity. Years later when the cataracts advanced, he was the man for me. I had previously had RK and Lasik surgeries, so my eyes were a great challenge to operate for even the most skilled ophthalmologist. My experience with the staff and with Dr Chayet was beyond reproach. Friendly, caring and very professional. His equipment is state of the art and the specialists that assist him are excellently trained. My expectations were tempered because of my previous surgeries, but my results were terrific first time in 50 years that I have no need for glasses or contacts. I could have had the surgery performed in the US and have a good portion covered by Medicare. But judging by the results and the fact that his fees are so reasonable I am so glad I decided to have him take care of my eyes. I highly recommend Codet. A physician friend recommended me there since her sister a Dentist had Lasik there and it helped her practice. My son had Lasik, I had PRK. My niece also had Lasik. We are all so happy. The prices are upfront, very good in comparison to the US. The experience was amazing from the 1st phone contact, location, parking security guards, complimentary valet, clerks, techs, and the doctors. The place is safe, clean, and following Covid guidelines. We so far have had 1 consultation, 1 day for the eye surgery (must have a driver), 1 follow-up the next day (drove myself with dark shades), and we have a programmed 1 month appointment. My son and I now have 20/20 vision and do not need eye glasses or contacts. One of the best things is driving, having no fear of hitting someone/thing, or getting into an accident. Reading, looking into people's eyes, recognizing people from afar, so many positives. By the way just had my surgery a week ago and I'm writing without eyewear. I was back to work and was able to use my calipers, see my charting, read off my laptop, and I am able to monitor my patients heart rhythms from the 5 screens I must watch (50 patients in total). I had PRK I was told by Dr. Pinkus our surgeon that my eyes would get more clear and stable in about a months. I can see way better right after the surgery. I had little to minor discomfort after the PRK. Minor eye redness and a little dryness since I had a contact bandages in place. My son and I both had been wearing thick, heavy eye glasses since we were in 1st grade elementary. This is a true life changer!! I wish the US insurances would cover this procedures because it's so much more expensive to keep getting eye glasses, solutions, contacts, eye exams every two years and still not able to see without the apparatus. By far dr Arturo chayet is the best dr I have met. I was diagnosed with Keratoconus hydrops as well. My vision went blank. So chayet did a cornea transplant. Amazing dr I was recommended by a family member. And I live in Los Angeles. My cornea transplant lasted 45 minutes. Had a great experience here from start to finish and I would definitely recommend coming here. The customer service is on point from phone, to valet, to reception, to the doctor. You can instantly tell this doctor is great by all the recognition, awards and diplomas. You can see people traveling from all over the world sitting in the lobby just to see Dr.Chayet. He speak both English and Spanish fluently which caters to people coming the the US. Actual surgery: I was extremely nervous about this surgery but the team made me feel very comfortable and at ease. I think I made it a bigger deal than it really was, the most you feel is pressure in your eyes during surgery . ZERO PAIN during/ after the surgery.
