Really great place, I did not notice the prices being more expensive - it seemed pretty much equal to any other Thrift store. Hands down, ACTS is my favorite thrift store in the area! I always find great stuff there! Parking can be a pain but honestly, the city has parking issues. For this reason I docked a star. I wish ACTS wouldn't have moved locations as their prior location has an ample amount of parking. ACTS is not overpriced like many thrift stores and their employees are friendly. In addition to their great prices, the store runs weekly sales (color of the week, 40% off the store after 3 PM on Thursday's, etc) AND they have a loyalty program! After earning 100 points ($1 = 1 point), you will be eligible to receive $10.00 of a purchase of $20 or more! Before you go to any other thrift store, go to ACTS! read more

I came here looking for some halloween costume help. I found what I was looking for right away, and I took headed straight to the check out. I was surprised at how cheap everything was, and even more surprised when it rang up at 1/2 off. I guess there was a deal going on that I did not know about. Here's the new and improved Jessie's Review of ACTS Thrift Store- I have returned once again, after volunteering here at acts. it's been a crazy ride full of wonderful people, customers, and cool items. To start off, we have the amazing staff for the afternoon crew (who is who I mostly see) Cam, Stephanie, and Destiny. these are some of the coolest girls I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, and helping. they are some of the hardest workers I've ever met, and some of the nicest people out there. Let me start off with Cam. Cam is the beautifully talented girl, who can get anything done. She's such a great person, and definitely a team player. She knows how to keep calm if anything happens. Destiny is one of the coolest people you'll meet. I don't think I've met anyone as down to earth as Destiny is in a long time. Lastly, Stephanie. Stephanie is hilarious, and a BOSS at what she does. she is sure to help out with any questions you may have all the way, and with a good heart. I also have to call out Rizzio as a sweetest people you'll meet. he has so many likeable qualities, as a volunteer, and as a friend. I'm glad I had the chance to help along side of him. something else that amazes me is the huge selection of clothing, jewelry, and knick knacks. everything inside the store look beautiful, and you'll have to thank the workers and volunteers of ACTS as much as I love this store with all my heart, one thing I can say is lack of parking can be tough, but easy to manage. it doesn't help when people park in the specific 'No Parking' spot. it makes it difficult for our handicapped customers to get in and out of the store. Good selection but too much stuff crammed into a small space. Selected some books I wanted and got in line. Place was busy and the line was four people deep. When it came my turn the cashier went on a break. There were still more people behind me but seems his break was more important than customer service. Will never return to this hole. read more

A previous reviewer stated that because sales tax is collected, ACTS must be FOR PROFIT. That is not the case. When a Thrift Store does not collect sales tax it is because they have a formal job training program approved by the STATE. The staff are friendly and helpful. So that's a plus right there. I have a feeling this place has some hidden gems scattered throughout the aisles. Wonderful thrift store with a great mission. You won't always find the best bargain, but you will find great items at reasonable prices, and friendly staff. And I like they way they have things organized - makes stuff easy to find. My one complaint: the checkout lines are often very long. OK, I can wait, but when there are 6 people in line and it seems there's just a lot of chit-chat happening at the register.... Still, I'll keep going back. read more

Small thrift shop that is really well organized. There are lots of opportunities for discounts via the yelp app from check in and in the store it looks like there are extra discounts on certain days. Lots of cute surprisingly nice finds in the women's section. The parking lot is really congested and we had to park in the neighborhood down the street. read more

Always good finds here. Plenty of things to browse through. Something for everyone seriously. And they've got their own parking lot! Update: The finds haven't been that great here lately, and I haven't been drawn to this spot as much as before. I've been shopping at ACTS since it opened a few years ago. Dropped in today at the new location (on Altadena) and was very disappointed. To begin with the parking lot is too small and poorly designed. The previous store had a great selection and was much larger. This store is smaller, has a poor selection and is not laid out very well. Needless to say, my visits to ACTS have come to an end. read more

SELECTION: The location is big and they have utilized every square-inch! There is a HUGE selection of clothing. I good handful of furniture. And the perimeter of the store is lined with any other items. Although the furniture and clothing sections are very organized, the perimeter of stuff is all jumbled on shelves (and on the floor). Its really hard to sift through even a portion of it. I regularly shop at thrift shops, but the quality of this store's non-furniture and non-clothing items was disappointing. These items felt very low quality with nothing interesting to be found. PRICES: I think that for the quality and condition of the items, this thrift store has high prices. I didnt purchase anything in the instances that I stopped here because I felt that the items I found interesting could be comparably bought at Target or Kmart. I did notice that there were REALLY long lines for checking out. There were at least 12 people in line and the line was moving SLOWWWW. Most of these people seemed to be holding clothes as their primary purchase. BOTTOM LINE: Even though this thrift store is very close to me, I will not be going back because my interests lie with the miscellaneous items, which is not this thrift's strong suit. What an awesome store! I love ACTS - their prices are far better than any thrift store I have visited. They have almost everything you can think of and some that might surprise you. It's amazing to think that all their stuff comes from donations. The store is nicely lit, always clean, and the staff are so friendly. Most of the customers obviously come regularly because the friendship between staff and customers is something to be admired. Although the store is large it has the warmth of a small store. Actually, I've been to smaller stores and still don't have the same kindness and welcome that ACTS gives you. I will continue to come over and over again. I don't normally go thrifting, but I tagged along on a friend's trip and I could not have been more glad that we chose ACTS. Their store was very well organized and clean, and the customer service was phenomenal. Amada was the employee that helped me out and she was fantastic. She was very helpful and made me feel welcome. I would come back to this store as long as Amada will be there to help me. She made my first thrifting experience a delight and I'm positive that she has made others' a joy as well. read more

This is one of the best thrift stores in Pasadena! Although their current location is very small, it's next to a 7-Eleven, so that's fun. They have the kindest staff, great prices especially for children's clothing, and what they lack in quantity they make up in service. read more

Yesterday was my first visit to this store, and I commend the young lady who assigned a fair price to an item I wanted that hadn't had a price. Bad news: I was the only person in line awaiting a cashier. A short elderly, glasses-wearing woman was available but instead of ringing up my purchase, opted to start moving items around on shelves behind her, picking lint out of the air, etc. & ignore me. Fortunately, the young lady who'd helped me earlier (was cashiering), saw that the other cashier wasn't going to help me, so she said, 'As soon as I finish this gentleman, I'll be right with you'. Now the short senior was just standing at the counter doing nothing, but still didn't offer to help me, so another employee (taller, thin woman) also saw that the short senior had no intention of helping me, left a clothing rack she was working on, went behind the counter and rung up my sale. Her eyes apologized to me, & she and the young clerk were super nice to me as I was leaving. I believe with my entire being that the lil fossil B-OTCH treated me this way because I am Black (and the last person who'd ever pull the race card), but the other employees witnessed the entire situation and separated themselves from the fossil's energy by treating me with the same dignity & respect as everyone else. Unprofessional. Absolutely terrible attitudes and service. When donating an item, they act like they're doing us a favor! Donate elsewhere. The driver of their pick-up truck passed our location, then, after returning, he only waited a minute or two while we tried to clear a large enough parking space for him. Apparently a minute or two was too much for him as he began shaking his head with attitude and took off. ACTs then called saying they cant make the pickup! Why? Because they have a impatient unprofessional driver with a bad attitude? I'll keep donating to the Salvation Army or one of the many other deserving thankful charities. Responding to my initial review, a rude defensive and incredibly ignorant Brian from ACTS wrote to me: (My Comments) "I see you failed to mention you wanted the driver to stop in the middle of Lake Ave (No, he was already stopped impatiently waiting shaking his head on a side street) and wait while you find the drivers of the vehicles parked on Lake to move their vehicles (Impatient much? Ungrateful...), and you failed to mention that you wanted him to double park illegally (Not true, hence moving the cars at the meter!) Or did you expect the driver to keep driving around the block until a spot opened up? This is a free service we do and we do it 100% legal (Again, you're only in business because people like us donate!!!) We cannot afford to pay tickets. I apologized to you on the phone sorry we cannot do the pick up due to no parking (No sincere apology was given... Ungrateful and Unprofessional!) If we can figure a way to ensure my driver has legal parking I will do the pick up myself. (Hahaha, not a chance.) Should always look at both sides of the story than just your side. Love it! Just wish it were bigger! It's fairly clean (much cleaner than the Salvation Army Thrift store in Pasadena) and fairly organized. Most of the aisles are pretty narrow though so there's only enough room for one shopping cart to go through at a time. I've been shopping there since they opened a few years ago and I've noticed that the prices have been going up slightly. Something that they used to charge 30 cents for now costs $1 and something that used to cost $1 now costs $3. Even with the higher prices, still a bargain. Sometimes there are still great steals to be found but it can be hit or miss, like all thrift stores... Ahh, the thrill of the hunt! They have different discount programs throughout the week. Each Monday a new tag color becomes 50% off for that week. On different days, seniors (Tuesdays), teachers & students & pastors (Wednesdays), and ACTS thrift store 'Giving and Helping Club' members (Thursdays) get discounts (20% off excluding boutique items). If you join the 'club' you get a punch card. After you've made 5 purchases, you can turn in your card for a 30% discount on your 6th purchase. They also have an early bird special on Saturdays (30% off) from 10 a.m. - Noon (includes boutique items). I went there a couple of times for that and I had to park on the street and walk 2 blocks over as the lot and adjacent street parking were full. The line for the cashiers starting at around 11:30 a.m. or later starts getting really long. I think I stood in line for about 20+ minutes. The discount didn't end up being worth 20+ minutes of my time to me so I haven't gone back on an early bird day. I would advise that you get in line early before the rest of the crowd gets in line. You have to be in line by Noon to get the discount. I once heard an employee say to another employee--the guy with the hat in line is the last one for the discount. They also give you a coupon with every purchase. It will expire in 2 weeks or less (the date is printed on the coupon). The coupon is always: 20% off clothing only on Mondays, 20% off total purchase on Wednesdays and Fridays. They are closed on Sundays. They also accept credit cards (not cash only)--so helpful! Another bonus--two dressing rooms. Most thrift stores do not have a dressing room. The quality of the items, the relatively low price point (more expensive than Salvation Army but cheaper than Goodwill), and the friendly employees & volunteers there keep me coming back! a I'm writing a review about a horrible, degrading and humiliating experience I had last Thursday, January 13 in Acts thrift store in Pasadena. I had alrady made a review concering the degrading and racist treatment given to me by the cashiers, under instructions of Miss Amira. So, returning to what happened on January 13, I had just entered the store when a cashier called Miguel got close to me and said, Are you miss Maria? I said, Yes. Then he said, You're not allowed in the store, by orders of miss Amira. Then I said, Why? He said, Because of what you did. Then I said, What is it that I did? He replied, I don't know, but you are not allowed in the store. Then I said that I wanted to speak with the supervisor. He called the supervisor and she told him, Miguel, go outside and let me talk with Miss Maria. All the customers heard what she said, because she was on speaker and they saw when we went outside. They all looked at me as if saying, what did she do? Being outside, the only thing she said was, Miss Maria, you're not allowed in this store or in the store in Pomona. Easy I asked, but why, what did I do? The only thing I had done was ask for my membership points and buy a a lot. The only thing she said to me was, but you're not allowed in the store. Then Miguel took her off of speaker and spoke with her. Then they hung up and Miguel told me that I had to leave the parking lot. He started taking pictures of me and of my car, which is forbidden to do. He threatened to call the sheriff. It was a great humiliation for me I mean for me, I got sick. I still haven't recovered what they did to me. I'm gonna take this to the ultimate consequences. I just want to say this to the owner, ms. Leticia, i'm not complaining about the merchandise or the store itself, I'm complaining about miss Amira, Who has a very bipolar attitude, She's racist and she's a very horrible person. I'm also complaining about Miguel, of everything that he did to humiliate me. Also, Leticia, I want to let you know that I once took my son to the store, he's visually impaired. Amira was making fun of him with another employee. She is a person with a really bad heart. Another thing is a usual teacher employees that there are certain rules they need to be followed concerning proper treatment of customers. They had no basis on which to humiliate me and run me out of the store, but still they treated me as a criminal. But for this reason, the Better Business Bureau exists, Because we customers have our rights. read more

ACTS has been my favorite thrift store for a long time. Recent changes, however, have me looking elsewhere. $6.99 for a used tie! Seriously? Whoever is doing the pricing lately needs a reality check. ACTS used to have a great selection of wholesome books, but now has been overrun by cult propaganda. Very disappointing. There seem to have been some staff changes, too. The cheerful, helpful people were nowhere in sight. One employee attempted to violate the civil rights of a disabled veteran by ejecting him and his service dog. His companion had to point out that he was violating the vet's civil rights under ADA before the very rude, aggressive, ignorant employee went for the manager. read more

we just moved to the area and i love a good bargain. i needed to find a thrift store to replace my fav in glendora (new unto others). this place has some cool stuff at really reasonable prices. there's a color of the week which is nice too (50% off!) the only downside is the staff. seriously, if you are that unhappy with what you do, find another job. there have been instances where i witnessed a gentleman show up in his house slippers (sloppy) and was just plain out lazy/complaining when "helping" load furniture onto a truck. a week later, another gentleman sold a piece of furniture, when the claim ticket was already ripped off for someone else. it's always a shame when incompetent people ruin the perception of a business, especially one that is meant to do good for the community. cheap prices mean lousy service? i guess. read more

ACTS is easily the best thrift store in the immediate area. Definitely cheaper than the Goodwill on Altadena or Out of the Closet on Colorado, and they are the most organized thrift store I have ever been to. Their t-shirts are actually divided by sizes! I come out empty handed a lot of the time, but sometimes they have some real scores (working old metal detector for $8.99!) They also give out a lot of coupons and have a lot of sales, the best of which may be that everything in the store is 30% off before noon on Saturdays. I like acts a lot. But I'm really disappointed in the way they're trying to raise prices on a lot of items, specifically books. They used to be 59, 79, $.99. Now some books are priced at almost 5 dollars! That is ridiculous. Even goodwill recognized that their price range on books was overreaching and brought their prices back down to $.99 for paperback and 1.99 for hardbacks. Acts, please follow suit!
