I adopted my bunny, Floyd, back in 2020 from a rescue somewhere within driving distance of me. I'd always wanted one and he ended up being the sweetest boy I can imagine. I truly don't think I've encountered a creature sweeter than him. It was always my intention to adopt a companion for him but I couldn't figure out the best way to go about bonding. Life happened and somehow 5 years went by where I didn't have the time or confidence to go through the bonding process myself or the finances to outsource it. Honestly... I felt guilty constantly. I knew he deserved better. Rabbits form bonds with each other that are so beyond what humans could ever imagine feeling for one another, and I wanted this for him desperately. Fast forward, May of this year came and I was done waiting. After some time spent scouring the internet, BWF came up. I emailed them, along with a few other adoption agencies, and the next day I got such a kind email back from the founder Lejla. She vocalized that she could see how much my little guy meant to me, and was so kind. We set up a phone call where I got a feel for how knowledgeable and caring she and the rest of the organization is. When she told me that they actually offer complementary bonding services, I was sold. Lejla claims to be a bunny match maker. I love the idea of that so I had no problem just buying into it, but logically I know it sounds a bit silly (and cute) saying to other people. But listen. I described Floyd's personality to her over email, and immediately she sends a picture of this adorable white nosed cinamon girl. She says something like "this is his future wife... don't ask. I'm a bunny match maker". We set up an appointment, the girl bun she sent me a picture of was brought along with some other potential partners, but in my mind I was like "hey, we might as well just try them out first." They got along immediately. If you know bunnies... you know this is NOT always the case. I think she might actually be a bunny matchmaker haha. Floyd and his cinnamon girlfriend (I named her Bambi) had their first date on a beautiful sunset evening backdrop, and afterwards they were whisked away for their honeymoon. I'm coining the phrase bunnymoon. I got them back a week later, and I can't even express the happiness this whole experience has brought me. Floyd is in LOVE. Bambi is in love. I'm in love with both of them. I get to watch how happy Bambi is here in her home, she zooms around like a puppy. I get to wake up and see them cuddling or grooming each other. Every time I look at either or both of them my heart swells. There's so many benefits from adopting from BWF, this is way longer than I meant for it to be, but seriously. This organization is so good and so caring. Bunnies are really misunderstood here in U.S. and they're spreading such important information on how they really need to be treated. They give you so many great detailed resources on veterinary care, what types of food to give, which brands are best, the list goes on. They haven't failed me a single time yet. Lejla does it again! She truly is a bunny whisperer. I brought in Chibi to look for a husbun, after her hubby passed away. Lejla saw her and paired her up with a handsome cinnamon. I've never seen her so immediately accepting of another being. They bonded immediately. We didn't even need to try anyone else. Bonding at home was a breeze. They had no issues. It was a match made in bun heaven. Lejla sent over the information for free bunny exams. He's very healthy, but the Doctor was knowledgable, and gave great advice. A little background on my experience with bunny adoptions. I first dove head first into the bunny community when I kind of accidentally adopted a bunny from another organization. At the other shelter organization , I was interested in adoption and went in to ask and was simply told to fill out an application for information. Little did I know, I got a call the next day telling me to pick up my bunny. I was flabbergasted by how easy it was, since the application made it seem there would be some sort of screening process. I was also not prepared or sure I wanted to adopt. Luckily for this little bunny, I was more than willing to do whatever it would take to ensure his happiness and have a forever home. Nonetheless, it was disappointing to know how easily other people with not the same intentions could adopt. For my second bunny, I did a lot of research and sent out emails and made calls to multiple organizations. I ended up going with Bunny World Foundation, and I am SOOO glad I did. Unlike my first experience, there was a whole process with this organization and it made me feel at ease knowing they truly look out for the bunnies' best interest. I ended up adopting a beautiful lady for my baby boy and they couldn't be happier. I was provided with so much helpful information, vouchers, workshop information and so much more. We love our bunny. They really care about rabbits but their practice is a little heavy handed. They protect the rabbits fiercely and provide great healthcare to them, including the first vet visit being free and included with the adoption fees. They want to insure the adopted rabbits are placed in wonderful homes, and their contract you sign states in the event you have to surrender your rabbit- whether illness, finances or death - they reserve the right to repossess the rabbit. The staff was really caring. They invest a lot of time, effort, and resources to each bunny. To prevent a gastrointestinal stasis, Layla recommends you brush the rabbit every 6-8 weeks for 3-4 hours. I've never tried this. They provide bonding services in a neutral location for a week. You can opt to pay $300 or foster a pair of buns for a week. This caused us a lot of separation anxiety with our long time rabbit friend. There never was a slower week. No physical location - just a PO Box and they house the bunnies in foster homes and we met our rabbit at a person's converted garage and garden. Thank you, Bunny World Foundation! read more

I'm a huge animal lover, I always have been. I came across bunny world's Instagram one day and try to always help where I can. I already had my girl bun but my heart is always open to animals. One day BWF was in search of a foster for a mama bun and her babies. I reached out and we agreed a pair would be a better fit to foster. I filled out all of the paper work and BWF verified my home was fit for my fosters. They set me up with a mentor and I picked up my foster buns, Oliver and Clara. BWF even helped me out with my girl bun when she had a medical emergency after her spay. After a few months of fostering my original girl bun was still by herself and was very curious about the new pair in our spare room. Eventually we decided to get her a husbun. We adopted Coop (Cola) from BWF in October 2022. He's the absolute sweetest boy, I couldn't have asked for a better addition. My husband and I recently relocated to the PNW from LA and when faced with the choice to return our foster buns to BWF or give them a forever home, we decided to adopt Oliver and Clara and bring them with us. BWF bonded our 2 pairs while we went on vacation and when we came back they were one big lovable fluffle! I'm so thankful to come across a foundation that does so much for these little creatures and their advocates. I really appreciate their focus on educating people. I met Lejla/BWF in 2019 when I had my solo dutch bunny. I've had bunnies my entire life, but boy did I learn how to take so much better care of them once I met this group. They gave me the tools, knowledge and support to give my pets a better, happier life. I'm talking total turn-around in pet personalities because they became happier pets with better diets and free-roaming. I've adopted 2 bunnies from BWF and they've both been successfully bonded to their partners (via BWF) I can't believe I went so long without having bonded bunnies. They are truly much happier if they can get along with a friend! I also have used Lejla for boarding services for years. I trust her with my animals, and I know they are well taken care of. They may even enjoy the fancy setup and toys more at her spot than we have at home-lol! I'm always taking notes of how well Lejla treats the bunnies, and how I can implement the toys, and strategies into our own home. We have two bonded bunnies currently, and they essentially live free roam our my home. With patience and love, we've gained the trust of bunnies who have been abandoned, neglected, and now they sleep peacefully out in the open in our home, barely budging when we walk by. Update: For those looking to adopt from BWF, my understanding now is that there are occasional adoption events to see the buns rather than appointments in an office, so be sure to look into when those event days are. I was not aware of this until it was too late and I had adopted from another rescue. A friendly suggestion to BWF to maybe make this information readily available on the home page of their website for visitors to see! BWF is 100% volunteer-run, and they are very busy, so it's just a suggestion to save valuable time for volunteers and avoid confusion from adoptees like me. Thank you to Michelle for the email soon after I left my review, and for going out of her way to reach out to me multiple times to explain how busy they were, hence the lack of response to my adoption process. I appreciate you, and I'm genuinely sorry that things did not work out! As I said in my original review, I am in no way against what BWF stands for, its volunteers, or the work that they do. I was trying to make constructive criticism on the lack of communication in the adoption process, because I just wanted to rescue one of their many bunnies that they are caring for and I was heartbroken. I didn't know that they were so busy that they couldn't respond to emails, and had I been told so, there would've been a far better mutual understanding, I think. On another note, I do not appreciate one volunteer who I won't name, who sent what felt like a passive aggressive email that I'm "kicking people when they're down", or that my review was "untrue". It was my experience, which is as valid as any other, and if they check our email thread, I have not said anything untrue or disrespectful. I cannot know what anyone is going through if I am not told, and had someone quickly said that they are busy and would get back to me when the time is right, I would have completely respected it and waited. Since I didn't know this and wasn't given any response after multiple calls and emails, it felt like I was being ghosted. Or, alternatively, if I knew when the next adoption event was, all time spent through email correspondence could've been saved, and I would've shown up in person. I understand that they were hurt when they sent it, but I don't appreciate the email from this representative and think it was very uncalled for. I hope that this person can find the kindness in their heart to try to see the situation from my point of view, and why I was feeling hurt as someone who just wanted to support BWF and give a bunny a home. THE BEST ORGANIZATION!! FOSTER FAILS STORIES! After losing my bunny that I adopted from the shelter, I was looking at the opportunity to foster as it was too soon after the passing of my last bunny. The process of becoming a foster was stress free and I felt very supported by the organization. The facebook group made sure that I had all my questions answered and Lejla has so much knowledge about bunnies that she is able to help with any problems that may arise. I ended up adopting my two fosters, May and Bugsy, and I love them so much. Another foster parent needed help with a bunny, Leo, so I fostered him for a week and my family loved him so much that we adopted our third bunny from Bunny World. I love my bunnies so much and I owe so much to Bunny World for bringing these amazing babies into my life. With all of Bunny World's expertise, I am now knowledgeable about everything and I feel like I am never alone. When it comes to grooming, they are the best and were able to teach me how to trim their nails, clean their glands, and brush them. My bunnies are happy, healthy, and roam free as they should. The folks at BWF are super passionate about what they do. There is a Facebook community page where all questions are welcome & experienced bunny owners are super generous with their experience and knowledge. I love that they take a lot of consideration into where the bunnies land, like whether there are young children, and if the adoptees will have a bonded buddy. BWF is the best and most educated rescue out there! in my opinion, they top most other rescues in the sense where they educate, advocate, and everything is for the sake of the bunnies whom they rescue. They helped me greatly in bonding my four buns (3 of whom are from BWF) and my family and I have rescued from them back in 2013. The bunnies are fantastic, and the rescue is full of great and amazing people who stop at nothing to ensure every rabbit is taken care of. All profits go to the rabbits as well, which is well worth it since any donation is a tax write off. I just started volunteering at BWF and it's been a really positive experience! All the team members are super knowledgeable on all things bunnies. The foundation leader is very passionate about the care of the bunnies. Your bunny is in excellent hands here ! They are super welcoming and they teach you how to brush your bunny properly! Brushing bunnies WILL TAKE 3+ hours but it's for the HEALTH of your bunny !!!!!!!! You have to take it seriously. They help you with nail trims and cleaning glands ! I found it really helpful because they show you how to do it and it's less intimidating than I first imagined. It's an amazing team !!! read more

(TLDR; Adopt four if you can, it's life changing) In November 2019 I went to BWF in search for a REW (Ruby eyed white) and found "Snowball". He was bonded with "Contessa" (wooly grey angora) and I immediately fell in love with the pair. My husband and I went to the adoption event and met them and we knew Snowball's goofy personality and Contessa's princess like behavior would be a great match for us. At the event we saw Theo (grey chinchilla) and his sibling Sweet Pea (brown lion head chinchilla). My husband LOVED Theo's coat, but we were going to stick with Snowball and Contessa. His coat is so beautiful we thought he would get adopted right away. Lejla, the leader of BWF, kept hinting that we should adopt all four! My husband and I nervously laughed and said no way. We were so wrong. After getting home with Snowball and Contessa, I made the 1st mistake and gave them too much space. There was a brawl between them and we ended up visiting the vet where we made the 2nd mistake and separated them. I broke the bond and had to split their living area in two. After a few weeks of living separated I needed to book a stay at the Bunny Chateau (the only place my rabbits go if I leave town). To my surprise, Theo and Sweet Pea were still waiting to be adopted! Lejla says a great way to get bunnies to stop fighting is to distract them with another rabbit.... Well, while Snowball and Contessa stayed at the Bunny Chateau, they met Sweet Pea and Theo. It wasn't love at first sight for them, but it ended up being the best decision ever. In December 2019 we brought all four home and I started with a "smaller" space. Sweet Pea was picking fights with Contessa and again... I needed to separate my rabbits. Fortunately Snowball and Contessa were best pals again (Lejla was right!). After living for 10 months separated we decided to try bonding all four again. I went to Jane (another amazing volunteer at BWF) and she set the four straight. I took home some foster buns while my four were at Jane's "bootcamp" where she is an absolute rock star! After ~ 2 weeks I went get my buns and I was super cautious at first but 9 months later we are still living in peace with all four sharing a space! If you can, I HIGHLY recommend adopting four bunnies from Bunny World Foundation. It feels no different from two and all four personalities shine so bright in our home. Theo and Sweet Pea were waiting for THREE YEARS for someone to adopt them. They are the friendliest buns and I can't imagine Snowball and Contessa without their besties. read more

I have adopted 4 bunnies total from BWF in the past 10 years and have always had a great experience. They are extremely knowledgeable and take amazing care of their bunnies. Plus, if you ever need advice on anything, no matter how many years it has been since adopting, they are willing to help. My most recent adoption has been especially heart warming, seeing how happy my bunny is with her new friend. She has a lot more energy now and follows him around everywhere. The bunnies they have on pet finder are not up to date. It is pictures of bunnies to lure you in to go to one of their events and adopt bunnies they have available. I reached out to them for a few bunnies I inquired about on pet finder. I emailed someone a few times back and forth the said I needed a phone interview and asked me for my availability. I made my adoption availability and phone interview availability very open since I was eager to adopt a bunny. I never received a phone interview, I reached out with several emails, sent them photos of my current setup and pictures of my home since I did live further away for a home visit. I never recieved a response. I then called the phone number and I spoke to a lady and she said that they would call me later that evening to speak with me and set up an appointment to visit bunnies. I asked about bunnies I saw on Petfinder and she couldn't give me any information if they were avalible, she just said they had many up for adoption if it was not avalible there are many others. I waited for a phone call for a few days. I never recieved one. The weekend came and still no email or phone call. I emailed them a few more times letting them know how I was really interested in adopting and still no response from them. I even said to them to at least reply to me to let me know if they felt they didn't want to let me adopt let me know do not leave me in the dark. They have this website about bashing breeders and people that sell on Santee Aly but I see why people go to breeders vs. rescues. they make you go through hoops and then do not follow through. I ended up adopting through a breeder and gave up on this rescue group. They were very unprofessional. It is easier to adopt from a breeder or someone off of craigslist vs this rescue group. I do not recommend them to anyone. They make you jump through hoops and make it difficult to adopt. read more
