I went to take my cat to get vaccinated this past Saturday 7/25/26 I got in line at 4:45 in the morning I got my number in line and when it was my turn they skipped my chart 3 times until I spoke up as to why I was not being called and all I got was shrugged shoulders and saying I don't know I don't know. My cat was finally called and I was in shock at what I saw. The cruelty and treatment of my cat was so wrong. The Lange Foundation should train the staff paid or not to be more organized and treat our pets in a much better way than this. This person here is using her mouth to hold the syringe and having some kind of exorcist moment before injecting my cat with the syringe straight from her mouth and then the way she holds her and drags her and then throws her in the crate like nothing. I went home and cried. 7/31/26 Since this post a few messages were sent my way. I wasn't going to address them but it has gotten out of hand. I don't need permission to take pictures or record in Public. Free or not they shouldn't be treated like that. read more

I absolutely love this organization. They place Shelter Diversion Managers in shelters with very high intake numbers, try to assist with medical if it helps a family keep their pet, assist with spay or neuter for folks in the community who are likely to surrender a dog or cat because they can't afford to sterilize their animal. They assist with diverting medical dogs and cats who would be subject to euthanasia if surrendered, then they diligently screen applications to select the best adopters and provide a care package to get rehoming off to a success ful start... [[HIGHLIGHT]]Follow up with adopters to assure that they are a good fit after adoption and post the before and after stories and updates on adopters as permitted.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].. they really go above and beyond the norm for every single animal in their care. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have worked with the main office and have had more contact with the Diversion Manager Krista Dunlop in San Bernardino.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]..I don't know how to describe the dedication above what rescues generally do.. that Lange Foundation exceeds... Every visit to their campus in Los Angeles, I see staff and volunteers out exercising and training the dogs in their care, as well as staff and volunteers socializing the kitties... they have every need met and every single animal I have met are happy and loved on daily while in their care...if you are considering adding a pet to your family, I can not recommend any organization higher than this one for your consideration... Almost 2 years ago, we adopted our first pup from Lange foundation. We named him Bruno (white and tan Terrier). We've had him since he was a puppy - his mom was rescued by Lange and was pregnant. Last week, we adopted 3 year old Tobey (black terrier). [[HIGHLIGHT]]The application process was completely easy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff reached out right away for a meet and greet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They were super accommodating when I wanted to come in a day early.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They answered all the questions we had regarding Tobey and let us know of any treatments he's currently in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After the meet and greet, we knew that we wanted to bring Tobey home. Sure enough, we came back the next day with Tobey. Bruno and Tobey are still getting used to each other, but I'd say that Tobey feels right at home. We adapted our cat from this place 16 years ago and Kuchulu was with us until he died from nasal cancer 4 months ago. We decided to send an application for an appointment to adapt a kitten. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After one month, they replied to me saying that they won't be able to give us an appointment since that Saturday is already fully booked but still appointments are available next Saturday and asked me to register again through on line application.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I felt odd because they asked me to turn in the application which means my name and address everything again even if they emailed me and inform me that next Saturday would be available. Then, after turning in the new application, we received a reply saying that we were not accepted because we answered that our cat would stay indoor and outdoor and their policy don't allow their cat to go outside. My first adopted cat was 10, had him for two years but then his hyperthyroidism wasn't controllable anymore..he didn't want to live anymore. I highly recommend the Lange Foundation if you are looking to adopt a new fur baby. My wife and I found our little chihuahua Olive there and adopted her, she ended up breaking her leg soon after just playing with some larger dogs, a freak accident that required major surgery and they ended up helping us with most of the cost so she was able to get a wire put in and it healed and she lived a very long life with us, running on that leg as if nothing happened. We were always so grateful for the Lange Foundation. She was like our little baby and we miss her so much. Not only did I get the most amazing cat ever, I got it from the friendliest, most compassionate rescue ever!!! Had I not come across Squiggy, formerly known as Meeko, I'd still be looking for a perfect match for my Noodles. Once I made contact, Megan responded to me immediately. I was able to get an appointment to meet Squiggy that same week. By the end of the week, their decision was made and I was the luckiest gal in the world. I drove all the way from downtown Long Beach and it was worth every minute in traffic. Everyone I met was very personable and kind. They took fabulous care of Squiggy before he was put up for adoption, having a few teeth removed due to horrible gingivitis. I've since been able to reduce the gingivitis from bright red to a pleasant pink, so it's almost gone, and his breath no longer stinks. I was pleasantly surprised by the adoption fee, considering the breed and expensive dental work he had. As soon as I am able, I will be donating to the Lange Foundation as I know for a fact they are using their money in all the right places. Their facility is clean and the cats have an awesome play area. The visiting room was also comfy and clean. I didn't go any further into the facility but what I saw, I really liked. Squiggy & Noodles ended up being fast friends, so I can't thank the Lange Foundation for selecting me to be Squiggy's new mom. I will love & spoil him for his evermore. read more

They have treated me with such kindness and respect. One dog, strawberry was a precious little thing . I had first choice to adopt Strawberry. But after a few visits and I loved that doggie, I knew she needed to be with other dogs . In a bigger home . She was shy . It is ingrained in our minds to, "Adopt, don't shop" when looking for a fur baby to add to your family. Los Angeles has several city shelters brimming with cats/kittens and dogs/puppies; but also houses countless Los Angeles private and nonprofit rescues. It should be easy, then, to adopt - Wrong! My cat who was my EVERYTHING for 17 years passed in May 2021 and I can say this about the kitty adoption process: it is "The Cat Hunger Games"! There is nothing fun about it. Most of the rescues are super rude, they don't communicate or respond in timely manner but then expect you to jump to their and their fosters' schedules, they act like you aren't "good enough" for certain pets, many aren't truthful with the health issues some of the animals exhibit, they try to 'push' and guilt you into taking specific animals and the list goes on. Lange Foundation is one of the many rescues with solid backing and experience in the rescue and adoption field. How did they stack up in my kitty search? Lange Foundation is not new to the nonprofit adoption rodeo and has been saving and re-homing fur babies since 1993. Their Los Angeles home-base is located in the West LA-area on Sepulveda near the Olympic intersection but they serve the entire city of Los Angeles hoping to find the purr-fect homes for kitties and doggies. I discovered Lange foundation through Petfinder.com where they readily list their adoptable animals. So here is the deal with their adoption process: if an animal interests you, you fill out Lange's adoption application and one of their staff members (I've interacted with Chelsea, Becky and Megan) contacts you if approved to move forward. Currently, Lange has a "foster-to-adopt" program (I think it was setup due to Covid?) where you choose a pet, receive emailed photos and videos, pay their $150 adoption fee electronically and then have a 2-4 week trial period with the animal. If you choose not to formally adopt and return the fur baby; then they refund your $150 payment. This is one of the main reasons why Lange is deducted one-star. Most of the private rescues in LA have allowed me to meet the kittens/cats in-person which is something that is necessary to see if I click with the kitty. I am NOT choosing based on looks or even written-description, alone. Other rescues who also don't allow in-person meetings; are at least conducting Zoom meetings but Lange didn't even implore that method just banking on the trial period. It's all a little weird to me and isn't the best way to find suitable matches on either end of the adoption process. Besides, with masks, vaccines and appointments; Lange should allow in-person meets at this point. Despite my hesitation, my heart strings were tugged by a female ginger kitten named Cheerio (I renamed her Manuka like the honey and flower). The Lange staff members were great with their timely email communications (although I would have preferred some phone calls) about the adoption process, Cheerio and answered all the questions I had. They were quite kind, thorough and displayed none of the rudeness some other rescues have shown. I arrived at Lange foundation with a (free) small parking lot and an outdoor cattery with some adult cats lounging about. I wasn't allowed inside the building so they brought Cheerio out to me along with a packet of her information/background, some food and a cardboard carrier. It was all very quick and in-and-out. Manuka (formally known as Cheerio) was a babe and was SOOO close to perfect but not 100% a lap cat which is what I sought as my late baby was a cuddle bug. I refuse to settle when A) this is a 10+ year commitment and like getting married and B) $150 isn't pocket change. It was with heavy heart that I decided to return Manuka during the trial period. I emailed the Lange Foundation and was in talks with Megan who was NOT judgemental and kindly set up the appointment to return the kitten. When I arrived, I was ugly-crying because I felt horrible and DID love the kitten but I knew it wasn't a perfect situation. Not sure if it was Megan; but whomever received me never rushed me, took the time to calm my tears and reassured me that I was doing the right thing and the perfect home will be found. Lange foundation definitely has great staff members. There was a misunderstanding and lag with my refund as I thought it would be an immediate Paypal payment but it actually took over a week to be refunded into my account. But I received it in the end, which is the point. The Lange Foundation is a solid rescue with great staff, a positive mission and wonderful animals. The only negatives I experienced is the inability to meet fur babies in-person (and that is a HUGE point deduction!) and the slow snail-speed of the refund amount. Otherwise, Lange Foundation is suggested if you are seeking your next pet-companion. My personal search continues.. read more

The Lange foundation has been such a blessing to find. Over a year ago I adopted the sweetest cat from them. The process from start to finish was so insightful and truthfully so so so easy. Vino was fostered by a few different people prior to finding his forever home with me and through out the process the Lange foundation was extremely communicative and straight forward with the process. From finding out about his past, to health records, shots and microchips they even provided me with some of his favorite toys and tons of food that he was eating at the time to help him transition over to staying with me. When I got him I was told he was a single cat type of guy and had a tendency to bully other cats or animals and throughout his time here he has built up so much confidence and made some sweet furry and scaled friends here. Love love love the Lange Foundation! They have wonderful cage-free cat rooms, and the cats that do need to heal are in cages and are in their own area. I got my cat from here and they were wonderful throughout the process.
