Stray No More and their crew of volunteers work tirelessly to rescue, foster, and adopt out strays all over Los Angeles. Everyone I've encountered with the organization, from volunteers during the interview process, to foster families have been kind, knowledgeable, and truly care about the cats and their safety. The interview was thorough and allowed for the organization to get to know us and what we were looking for. We were able to visit a few different sets of kittens/young adult cats which were being fostered before we found the two that were meant for us. We adopted two purrfect bonded black cats (brother and sister), and would absolutely adopt more if we had the space. Stray No More ensured that the cats were spayed and neutered, had all vaccines and shots, and that they'd be a good fit in our home. I cannot recommend Stray No More enough. Thank you for bringing Atticus (Char) & Winifred (Spark) into our lives.

So many areas that were great: the process was smooth; I mentioned the type of cat I was looking for and got the PURRFECT match (could not be better!); my new buddy came with the needed medical items (vaccines, no worms, etc); and the communication during the adoption was excellent. I'm so thankful and highly recommend Stray No More!!

I will begin with the positive: This is one of the cleanest shelters I have visited. As my review…read morehistory suggests, I rarely leave negative reviews, and only do so when the conduct is indefensible. Our experience matched the dozens of other negative reviews perfectly. We are a family of color. I pay close attention to tone, body language, and how staff choose to speak to us. The difference was obvious the moment we arrived. We came to look at cats. Before we were allowed to even view the cages, an older woman with a Russian accent immediately began firing off intrusive qualifying questions. The final one was, "Well are you even ready to adopt now?" I chuckled and replied that it all depended on how the visit went. She followed up by counting our children out loud. "Well I see you got one, two, three kids." I explained politely that not all of them were ours (I am the headmaster of a school serving autistic children). She responded by clapping me on the back twice without permission and saying, "I see you already got enough." This is often used to 'shame' people of color. At age 50, I only have two children of my own and the income to support them; I think perhaps I should get parenting advice from a more qualified source. Do not touch people without consent. Do not talk down to them. Do not try to establish superiority through sarcasm or volume. I walked away while this gross weirdo continued prattling on. We stayed close to an hour. No one asked if we wanted to meet any animals. No one offered information. No one showed interest in helping us adopt. When my wife asked a male staff member about the likely size of a litter of very young puppies, his response was irritation and "I have no idea." Size matters when adopting a dog. Acting annoyed by a basic question reflects poorly on the staff and on the organization. This shelter looks good on the surface, however the staff needs to understand that their behavior makes them look like buffoons and makes the organization that employs them look tacky. The treatment we received did not match the mission they advertised. Clean facility. Unacceptable conduct. We'll stick to our regular shelter.

From the moment I walked in, I was warmly welcomed by the kind and knowledgeable staff who took the time to thoughtfully explain the fostering and adoption process. The one staff member even gave us a mini tour to see their dog Simba who was the only one available for fostering at the moment. All the others were only available for adoption. Unfortunately, since I am only looking for small to small-medium sized dogs there wasn't a match for me yet. But it was so great to see the row of dogs held in this warmly heated section of the center who all had mini lifted cot like beds to rest on instead of having to lay on the cold floor. The facility was so clean, well-maintained, and heated, providing a comfortable environment for the animals, who were kept safe and warm inside this wonderful non-profit, no-kill center. The kitties are displayed right by the entrance so that your heart can view and connect with animals as soon as you walk inside their facility. I learned so much during my visit and felt inspired by the care and dedication of everyone involved. During my visit, they didn't have any small to small-medium sized dogs that I hoped for but I hope to go back frequently to check on their on going availability for incoming dogs to come. Crossing fingers. Overall, it was a splendid experience, and I'm excited to return soon with the hope of finding the perfect dog to adopt.

They noted over and over that I would be able to take him at the end of the session and said that is actually their goal as I had noted I would love to do their foster-to-adopt option. Not sure what happened during the M&G but suddenly "he was not ready for a foster or adoption" after I said in person I would love to start the foster trial. They said they had to ask the trainer if he can even go to a foster since he suddenly wasn't ready for one? Only for them to tell me three days later he is being sent to a DIFFERENT foster. They noted he is very well trained and even made me commit to follow-up training sessions and then suddenly said he isn't trained enough despite them showing me his skills during the appt. They also CONTINUE to post him on their IG stating he is ready for adoption. It's all fake. The dog had a bad foster before and they are trying to blame it on me when it is clearly just something personal they have against me (for no reason). There's a total lack of honesty from the staff and it's rude and disrespectful. Would avoid them as they are also incredibly expensive and you're better off giving your money and love to an organization that actually cares.

We've had him since he was a puppy - his mom was rescued by Lange and was pregnant. Last week, we adopted 3 year old Tobey (black terrier). The application process was completely easy. They answered all the questions we had regarding Tobey and let us know of any treatments he's currently in. After the meet and greet, we knew that we wanted to bring Tobey home. It's an extension of the PD so their campus isn't huge, and they have one building of dogs and a room (plus a quarantine room) for cats. They're half police and half animal control essentially so they have to respond to field calls as well as keep up the facility. For all that work they still have welcoming attitudes. That's one of the biggest complaints I hear working at the shelter is no one cares and staff is unsympathetic. Not so here. Not when I came on a Saturday eve anyway. As I said it's a small spot for a small city. Santa Monica has better government than LA, not in small part due to the land area they cover, quantity wise and demographic wise. My biggest gripe about LA is it's too big which is why gov is so inefficient. It needs to be broken up into more smaller cities. Right now we just have SaMo, culver city, and WeHo with proper municipal status basically. This whole city is like 10 more cities to me. But I digress. I adopted a kitten who was still quite sick, despite being reassured several times that she had recovered. They adopted me out a cat was too small to get spayed, and did not have her first round of shots. I have had to make several appointments with them, missing work in the progress, all because of their lack of organization, communication, and professionalism. It's tough writing a review like this because I understand that it might affect other people visiting this humane shelter and adopting out beautiful animals that deserve a home, so I hope this reaches someone in charge and they rethink who is running this facility.
