Rescuing animals is not for the faint of heart, and comes with a lot of dirt, heartache and possibility of illness. Fortunately, the people who run the group are willing to overlook all the obstacles and still help the poor creatures who desperately need them. I have helped them photograph dogs, worked adoption events, fostered dogs and am now fostering cats, and know that the good this organization does far outweighs any negatives. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who wants to volunteer, but this type of work requires a lot of strength and determination to help those who need it most. The joy of helping saving a life is the best feeling in the world.

I was "recruited" into the group after I witnessed a weekend glamour shot day while I was walking dogs at the Baldwin Park Shelter. Volunteering with UHA fulfills a part of me that had been unfulfilled since I had my first pet fish. I am surrounded by people who love animals as much as me, who don't mind having extended discussions concerning potty training, dog behavior, cuteness levels, and types of poop. I feel important, I feel accomplished, I feel like I have people to turn to if I'm having trouble. UHA's main concern is the individual, whether it's the animal or the person. It isn't about numbers, it isn't about politics. It's about finding the best home for one animal, the best fit for the owner. I couldn't imagine a more amazing, selfless, and helpful set of people and animal rescuers. They've made a difference in countless animals' lives, countless owners' lives, and definitely, in my own life. If you're looking to adopt a new fur baby, or just need some help or information, UHA is your rescue!

The many brands of wet food / dry cereals for the paws in your life! Annnnnd my wordy... the toys, bday pet gifts, and outfits for every season! I could go on & on. I was amAzed at every corner of this store. Marcella greeted us at the cash wrap station & we immediately signed up for membership! Cannot pass up a special deals day. Lol We were even encouraged to bring our pets into the store next time so now I just want to start asking neighbors if I can bring their pet into the store as a field trip. Haha Honestly enjoyed the store & I will be back at feeding times for the koi fish in the pond. Those koi's were such a tranquil friendly vibe.

Customers are left wandering the store while employees sit behind the counter eating and socializing with one another. When the shop was located across the street, the staff was attentive and welcoming. The difference in service now is disappointing. During my most recent visit, there was an employee with dark hair standing behind the counter while the entry alarm clearly signaled that customers were coming in, yet no acknowledgment was made. At this point, I would recommend saving your time and choosing another option.

Adam really knows everything there is to know about the breed, he always gets straight to the point and gives solid advice when we've had questions--whether it's about Enzo's diet, care, or general tips. You can tell he truly cares about his dogs and wants the best for them, even after they go to their new homes. Man, CatCon at the Pasadena Convention Center was disappointing. It's $50 per ticket, and you still…read moreneed to pay for parking, which is hard to find if you don't come early. There is no food court here, and there are no chairs or tables to sit and rest. Every vendor who gave freebies had a line, and some were very long and not worth the wait. There was a fair amount of vendors/name brands and a ton of small businesses selling their products. Honestly, I think I was mainly upset at the fact that tickets cost so much and there wasn't much to see. They only took up two halls that you can pretty much walk through in less than two hours. There were guest speakers to fill in the time, but again, $50 is a lot for what you get. The Humane Society was there with a lot of kitten adoptions, and their line to get in was long. It was also a bummer to see that many vendors did not have an actual cat at their booths. Many of them used stuffed animal to represent a cat using their products/furniture. I get that having actual cats would create more work for them to keep an eye on, but this is a cat convention after all... I would have liked to see more live cats. Overall, I tried it and probably won't ever come back.

Well, it was quite disappointing actually on a number of levels and I love me some furry everythings but CatCon is not the vibe. As mentioned, we all donned our cute little ears and drove out to Pasadena with our $42 per adult tickets and we had 3 adults plus two kiddos (free admission under 12). We arrived then had to pay an additional $12 at the parking garage. Upon arrival at the 10am opening, we then waited in the General Admission line for about 90 minutes in 90+ non-shaded, non-expected so people were going down around me from heat stroke without water & air, Pasadena sun. Listen, all this is part of a Con right? Such is the life of an attendee! BUT~this was not a Con at all. Had the payoff of spending $150 to wait in such torrential conditions been worth it as it as at a proper Con, I wouldn't rate it so low! And mind you, the two stars is just because----cats. But this was no proper Con -I don't know what this was but it had nothing at all worth paying an admission price to enter. Once inside the venue, there were just shops and additional paid meet & greet with internet cats then adoptions. But what's crazy even with only those minimal things - I couldn't attempt to buy anything or see anything as the line for seeing any cats was another wait once already inside. Lines for EVERYthing not just meet and greets, it was truly bizzare. It was so packed with nowhere to go and nowhere to squeeze through and absolutely nothing to do, anxiety inducing after standing for 90 minutes in 90 degree weather to be packed in like that with nowhere to sit. This can't be called a real Convention at all - it's so bare minimum with no talks, discussions, panels, like nothing free without a wait included in the expensive ticket price. Like literally nothing if you did not wait for at least 30 minutes which makes no sense at all! We had a Cat Festival back on Chicago that ate and CatCon in Pasadena surely does not.

So for anything you notice that may be off, weird odors in the mouth, etc, an option is just to check it out with your primary vet to save some time. Just want to give y'all a heads up.

i want to preface this by saying i am a nervous wreck whenever i leave my dogs with anyone besides…read morefriends and family, so finding sitters / boarding we trust has been an ongoing struggle, especially for two dogs. my babies rosie and hank have been going here for the last few years, and we've really come to love and trust this place. hank is a super friendly goofball who always acclimates to groups easily, but rosie is a little nervous gal so she takes a bit to warm up to the group. sometimes i'll watch her on the doggy cam and she'll just be sitting in a corner watching everyone play. but after a few days, i've watched her get used to her new dog friends and even start playing! i don't think that would be possible without the owners and staff creating a caring and warm environment for them. also once i checked the cameras and i saw someone sitting on the floor while all the dogs piled onto them and it was the funniest / sweetest thing i've ever seen. a massive cuddle pile full of happy dogs with wagging tails. they won my trust completely after that. thank you for creating such a wonderful environment where both animals and their owners feel safe and cared for. it's a rarity in this world!

We now board our Scruffy with Rose and he is like member of their family. I read some previous reviews now and as far as the questions Rose asked...she was mild compared to other rescues. When he passed at a ripe old age after a long and happy life in my home, I did not have to think twice about where I would look for a new companion when I felt ready. It has now been many years again since the last adoption, and I know I would return again when the time comes. I see that there have been multiple news items slandering this business and Marina as a person, which I think is ridiculous. I have found her and her practices both completely fair and empathetic. She cares about and remembers these animals even after many years away from them, and has always gone above and beyond offering a hand (even offering boarding if needed for a vacation!) It was important to me to find kittens with excellent temperament to get along with our older ragdoll at home. Jessica has been nothing but thorough! Through her questionnaire you can tell she cares a lot about her kittens and the homes they go to. She even let us meet the available kittens in person before deciding on one. All the kittens we met were soft as clouds, sweet, and calm despite being outside of their comfort zones. We ended up picking our Armstrong as he was the most confident of the bunch. Immediately on the first day taking him home he ate straight away and was eager to explore. Normally cats I know can go on a hunger strike during rehoming and it can be an anxious experience so it was nice to see him adapt so quickly. He is so affectionate, playful, and follows us everywhere. He even cuddles in our arms every night. His temperament is more that of a puppy than a cat! Also, through the whole process Jessica is very prompt in communication!! Even after the papers signed and payments submitted she is super helpful in helping new cat parents navigate caring for their new family member. Anywhere from asking how much food to give them to what to expect from your kittens vet appointments, she's always happy to answer any questions you may have!

Just for fun we did Wisdom Panel testing and of course she came back 100% Ragdoll with no concerning health markers or issues. We will be working with Jessica to adopt a companion for Zelda. Jessica describes her kittens as having top social temperament, and nothing could be truer. Zelda is very playful and loving. You won't believe it, but she actually plays fetch! She has charming toe beans and likes to have the fur between her toe beans rubbed. She follows me around the house talking and purring, and flops down at my feet whenever I pause to do anything. She sleeps on our bed at night and brings her crinkle ball to us in the morning when she is ready to get up and play. My previous comments stand: Jessica is a professional and ethical breeder, who provides the best possible healthy happy gorgeous Ragdolls.
